Searching for a resting place

Halifax, Dalhousie University dorms wc 442

Davyn had been digging for so long on his den, and thankfully, it was almost done. But his paaws were stuff, so the trek to Halifax hurt, and took longer than it really should have. The pavement, being as broken as it was, wasn’t much helping the condition of his paws either, and he had a feeling that when he got home, he would be soaking his paws in an herb bath to relieve the pain even a little bit.

Davyn wandered for a long time in the city, searching for supplies. So far, he had only found a few things that he could easily pack back with him to the den, but he was determined to at least get a decent bed back to the Valley, even if he was out past sundown. He preferred sleeping in his Optime form, since while in lupus he was able to feel every rock and root through his fur. And although he currently had a bed of leaves in the den, a mattress would be ever so much more comfortable. He had already found a suitable desk, and had taken it apart. A pack was found nearby, and the desk pieces were already carefully wrapped into an old blanket and stuffed into the bag, which was slung across his shoulders.

Just as he was thinking about heading home, he came across a group of buildings. He thought nothing of it for the time being, searching in the first and second buildings for anything he could use. Davyn paused in a door, looking into the room, and practically jumped for joy. Sitting on the floor by the window was some usable paper bundled into a suitable journal, perhaps once used for study and notetaking. Nearby was an almost brand new set of fountain pens, and his jaw dropped. He had never thought that he would find suitable supplies in a rundown place like this.

The last building he searched held the jackpot of the day. In the second room he looked in, Davyn found a queen sized mattress, exactly what he had been looking for. Buried deep in the boxsprings was a nest of mice, and the mother mouse looked up at him rather accusingly before gathering her children close to her and watching him carefully for any further intrusion. But Davyn did not need to disturb the cautious mother any further, as he dragged the mattress off the boxsprings found a tarp to wrap around it for the trek home. Into the pack went some tools to help put the desk back together, and off he went, carefully dragging his new bed behind him.
