Moving forward

For Alder, was vague so it can be anywhere along the borders you'd like.

Though she knew she was not the only one to do so, Anann tried to make her way around the borders at least once a day. Even if she did not always make to the most northern reaches of their borders. Vigilante's own home was much closer to that region while her home was more to the south, located not far from the stables. So her ride had started on the beaches, though she had not expected to find much along the shores save some peace of mind. Heath's absence was still tough to accept, it had all happened so suddenly.

As they continued, Anann's mind wandered further and further away. Her posture on the horse was nothing one would expect to see. She sat further back with one knee hugged up to her chest, her chin resting atop it. Her other leg crossed in front of it. It was a wonder she could keep her balance at all and once she did slip, just slightly. Just enough to snap her mind back to reality. She was certainly growing soft. Far too comfortable in these lands. Rem had come to stop. Now with one leg on either side, Anann slid forward. "Let's go, Rem" The large stallion did not move. "What is it?" She asked, following his gaze.

thank you for starting this <3!

This was all his mother's wishes. For Alder would never leave the packlands unless she spoke the command.

But it had been a request, simple in fact and sweet as she always was. Still Alder heard the disappointment that was held in her heart, or perhaps it was fear, or just concern. Alder could not decipher it, but when he came to her with tears in his eyes after shifting for the first time he had seen the sorrow in her. She was sad, and he made her so. The masked boy asked what he could do, pleaded for an answer and she simply told him to seek out his brother. But not the one of his litter, the older and bravest of his mothers children.

It felt like the greatest of journeys, kissing the cheek of his mother and setting out as if he may never return. As odd as if felt for the young male to leave Crimson Dreams he felt comforted coming to the borders of his brother's pack. Between in the neutral lands he had been frightened, traveling only under the light of the Sun and hiding away in as soon as darkness neared. Though he had stepped into the lands with hesitation he walked beneath the banner of friendship that he mother had passed to him.

A leader would know he was of the Dreaming pack, and ask what it was he looked for here. Haven was their knight, all would know his name and so Alder's fears were slight. The smells were overwhelming, having never been in another claimed land he figured that this was what his home was like to strangers entering it. It had not stopped his Inferni father, should it stop him now?

Black paws walked across the frosted ground, a scent that was familiar to him floated atop the pack fragrance. It was the horse that brought the memories back, less the wolfen rider that accompanied him. Alder did not speak, when the two came into view. He swallowed hard, thinking of the black armed rider that he had met not long ago. He was of the Cours pack as well, he had been supportive in his moment of need and had opened his eyes up to a world beyond the Manor's door. Perhaps it was not his mother's pushing that had gotten him to leave but that male's encouraging words.

Blue eyes looked on, still in his stance on four legs, and stared at the large black stallion and his rider.

Anann felt the sides of the horse shake under her as he whinnied, calling to the young man that stood off in the distance. Ending it with a snort and a stomp of his hoof. Come here, boy. The horse stood, watching with his neck high and arched. Demanding that the Dreamer come forward so that he might have a better look at him. He had been so very young when the pair had last seen him. Rem had recognized the youth immediately while Anann had struggled to make the connection. The smear of black across his eyes easily recognizable, but he had grown so large. Anann had slid from Rem's back and brought a hand up to shade her eyes. "Alder?" She called as he approached. A bit of disbelief in her voice.

Rem was not so patient and it wasn't long after Anann slid from his back that trotted away from Anann, high stepping in quite the exaggerated fashion all the way, with a toss of his head and mane here in there and Anann couldn't help but laugh good and hard from the belly at his antics. The horse nickered as he approached and circled around the young man before stopping in front of him. Without much hesitation Rem brought his head down, giving the boy a lick with that large thick tongue right across the top of his skull, Velvety lips playing a moment with the shaggy hair.

Thanks to Rem's distraction, Anann found herself closing the distance between them and herself, it was only but a few yards. Though the face that had been set in a frown for days now wore a broad smile. "It is good to see you again Alder. My, my. You have really grown!" She knelt down a couple feet in front of him, getting down to more his level. "How are you? And your mother?" It had been some time since she had made a visit to Crimson Dreams.

The things that heath had told him here numerous, and his ind had been slightly cluttered with the idea of his new body. But he remembered him telling him that life was too short to be afraid, too short to stand behind another. Alder hadn't told him how closely he kept to his mother, but perhaps such things were written in his body language. Still, when she had told him to venture here and seek out his brother Alder knew that it would be okay and he could even feel the change in the air around him.

The rider dismounted, and Alder looked on as the horse approached him. Just as he had when he was a pup he accepted the oncoming beast and even felt the uncontrolled wag of his tail behind him. It was Rem, a friend of his and with the voice and and posture of the horse Alder could see that he was pleased to see the Dreaming wolf. The youngster was not small any more, grown large and larger then the average that were before their first birthday. Alder gave a whine, blue eyes looking at the horse's face and their noses meeting with an excited greeting.

He heard his name, and looked passed the horse to see the good friend of his mother. His ears fell, though her words and voice were pleasant and cordial. Still the sight of her was ever so slightly intimidating. She smiled, lowering herself to his eye level. I'm well. He spoke, polite as his mother always taught him, voice deeper then his posture might convey. She is also well He stated, eyes falling to the ground. Its good to see you, and Rem. He spoke, smiling as he looked at the horse again. He wished it was just as easy to be with his fellow canine as it was to be with the silent creatures such as the horse.

It had been quite awhile since Anann had seen such antics out of Rem when greeting another wolf. He tolerated and accepted most wolves, but the list of those that the horse would go as far as to call friend were few. There was a small pang of jealousy that Anann felt, as Rem's affections were not something that she was used to sharing, but such a feeling was quickly extinguished by other, stronger feelings as Alder met Rem with equaled joy. Leaving Anann to wonder if he had gotten over his past shyness. A fleeting thought as she saw it return as she approached.

It was still surprising, to see how large the boy had grown. His body having changed so much in the few months since she had last seen the young the boy. Pups grew up so fast, yet when she had been a youth it seemed as if she would never reach adulthood. Yet here she was, already in her third year. Time pasted so slowly in the eyes of child, but once adulthood was reached time seemed only to flow by faster and faster.

Despite his shyness, Alder was polite. She expected no less, considering his mother. His responce seeming, if anything, slightly rehearsed. "It is good to hear she is well. So what brings you to Cour des Miracles today, Alder?" Her tone slightly softer and more gentle than it typically was. Anu had spoken once of sending the boys to Cour des Miracles for training had they shown any desire to learn to work with horses. She had always suspected that Alder, at the very least, would someday venture to their borders for such lessons. Of coarse, he could just be here to visit Haven as well. Whatever brought him here, she would gladly assist the son of a good friend.

maybe they could talk about Rem having a baby soon?

His mother had told of the golden fey's bravery and how she had saved him and his brothers before they had even been born. Anu was like that, telling them stories about all those that she had met and those that she thoughts were memorable. Anann was one of the first to grace her stories at bed times, as well as Haven their brother. Because of this there was a small bit of familiarity when he was in her presence. But there was also a bit of intimidation, standing in the presence of someone that had proven themselves in such a way. To hold his mother's admiration was to hold Alder's.

He wished he was in his Optime form, to touch the dark shadowed stallions face. Instead he touched the dark nose with his own ink hued snout. A smile coming to his maw each time he caught the horse's eye. Anann approached, and Alder wished to be everything that his mother hoped he would in the presence of one of her friends. Her question made him remember the last conversation that he had held with Anu, and it was not a pleasant one. She hadn't be harsh, she was never harsh, but she had sent him away. I am here to see my brother, Haven. Do you know him? He spoke with the same tone that was a bit more formal then necessary.

How have you, and Rem been? He questioned, hoping to know more about her and her companion. He wasn't in a rush to see Haven, not at this moment anyways. He was growing curious about this place now that someone who knew who he was had found him.

There was something about the masked boy that caught Anann's interest. She had noticed it that first summer afternoon when the boy had only been but weeks old. Despite his large size he was quite timid, but it was the way he had with Rem that caught her attention. He just seemed more geniune when his gaze turned towards the horse and some of his shyness seemed to fall away and he had that bright smile that reached his eyes. Of coarse, there was also the returned interest that Rem gave the masked boy. Though the large horse had always had a soft spot for young ones, Anann couldn't help but wonder how Alder would do with other horses and lesser creatures. She wondered what he would think of the stables and the various horses housed within. Perhaps that would be an oppurtunity to for her to show it to him during his visit.

"Oh yes, I know your brother quite well. We train together once every few days." She said with a soft smile, hiding the concern at the change of expression on the boys face as he seemed to be recalling something unpleasant. She hoped everything was okay, but at the moment thought it wiser not to pry. It did seem so drastic as to be anything too major. "Is this your first time to Cour des Miracles? I can show you around a little bit, if you'd like." Though not too much, she didn't wanna take that right from Haven. Perhaps just a few of the sites in the general direction of the knight's home.

"Good, we both have been doing good." It was a bit of a fib, but Alder didn't need to be bothered with Anann's troubles. There was nothing that the masked youth could do for the internal ache she was feeling in the absence of her close friend. Although there was so new she thought the youth might like to hear. "There hasn't been much exciting going on with us lately, but in a couple month's time Rem is gonna be daddy." Anann was excited to see the results of Rem and Lumiere's pairing. Rem too, was excited in his own right. Perhaps the boy would have found his brother's upcoming litter to be more exciting news, but if he did know yet she didn't want to ruin Haven's chance to share the news.

Alder hoped that Anann would know Haven. Though there was a voice that told him that there was no reason for him to fear trespassing through these lands, his insecurities couldn't help but say something else to him. He worried, even in the presence of his mother's good friend. Alder would even worry when he found Haven, hoping that he wouldn't be a bother to the Knight. But Anann has welcomed him, cordial just as the Dreamers were to friends. He needed to grow easy in his own skin and allow his heart to calm and become relaxed.

The masked male, dark paws moving through the crisp snow nervously, nodded to the woman as she spoke. It is. He answered, and his eyes brightened as she offered to show him about a bit. I would like that. Once again he played with the duel personalities he seemed to posses, the one that was eager to see that the pack lands had to offer and the other that was nervous to move from where he stood. But Rem would be with them, always accompanying the golden woman as far as Alder knew.

He took a few steps towards the female, his smile alive and well as he watched the black stallion. It was good to hear that all was well, not sensing that perhaps there was some underlying sadness or worry in the Countess. When he heard that Rem would be a father the boy brightened immediately. Blue eyes looked up at the dark face, his smile widened, So is Haven. He spoke, to the horse with a wag of his tail. Congratulations He was happy for the horse, just as he was his brother.

Blue eyes looked to the woman once more, Are there many horses here? He did not know of the stables, nor the many that the absent Marshal had once tended.
