Into the unknown

OOC: O.o the first time that Sankara ventures away from her packlands. All of you are welcome to take part ^^!! BTW, If you wonder who are Yaretzi and Miztli...you'll see X3

The sun was shining high in the sky. Some birds were singin up on the trees. The eviroment was full of peace and happyness. Or at least that was what Sankara felt. She had left the packlands to wander for a while. She wanted to expand her horizons a bit, just for curiosity. The grass tickled her pawpads, and the wind swinged her moon pendant, bringing to her a sensation of familiarity. And that was useful for her considering that she was adventuring into unknown lands.

But the peace of the moment was broken by the sound of her stomach grumbling. Oh oh, i'm hungry. Just now she realized that she hadn't eaten anything since she woke up that morning and decided to explore a bit. Instinctively, she lowered her nose and sniffed the earth. Nothing. She tried harder and walked further. And after a minute of sniffing the ground, walking some meters, and smelling again, she catched the scent of deer. She followed it until she found herself facing a herd of Whitetail deer. Sankara bent down and observed.

The deer hadn't catched her scent, and they were grazing peacefuly, unaware of the danger. But there was a weak member. A lame cow. It looked like an easy target, so Sankara began to crawl closer to the herd. Just a bit closer...a bit closer...A bull rose it's head...just a bit closer...The bull sniffed the air and puffed...Just two more meters...The bull sprinted and the rest of the herd followed. THat's it!

Sankara sprinted and began to chase the herd. Her eyes only focused on her prey, the lame cow. The deer began to divide, so Sankara was able to focus on her deer, her prey. Damn! for being lame it is quite fast That was the last thought before she stopped thinking. She began to act by pure instinct; so in the moment in which she brought the cow down, she didn't hesitate before the pleading eyes that asked her to let live and bit the deer's neck. She didn't let go until the cow stopped breathing and the heartbeat turned off. Then she releasedthe neck and looked at her prey. This was the second time that she hunted a Whitetail deer. The first time happened long ago, when she was still taking care of those injured commarades; even thought that time it was only a calf. So ths prey could be considered a trophy. Yaretzi, Miztli...

Sankara was unsure about what moved her to hunt such a big animal. Perhaps it was the feeling of being away from a safety place that took out her fereal part. Her mind didn't wander for longer, because her stomach made a growling noise, what reminded her that she had an empty stomach to fill. So she leande down and bit off a piece of meat, unaware of another presence that was watching her...

OOc: I hope its still okay to join Tongue Is this taking place in Eclipse or another territory? ^^'

Leon stared lazily at the she-wolf as she ate from her kill. "So," He whispered. "It was a loner?"

Having heard the sound of running deer, he assumed there was a hunting pack nearby. 'Coming this close to Cercatori D'Arte probably wasn't a good idea...' He had thought, ducking into a nearby bush. He crouched low to the ground, watching as a deer came into view, followed closely by a she wolf. He tilted his head as he observed her color. His ears perked forward as he saw her take down the doe, ending its life quickly before beginning her meal.

Leon stood up. He was down wind of her, so his scent was hidden as he stalked closer. However, the more he examined her scent, the more paranoid he became. She had not signaled before she ate, so she was alone. But the scent of Cercatori D'Arte clung to her. "Perhaps... not so alone." He thought, still continuing forward. He paused as the wind shifted. He was still twenty feet away from her. Raising his head, Leon signaled his presence to the 'lone' female, before walking closer. He wanted to be within speaking distance before he sat down.

The clear wind was invigorating. It carried the sharp sent of many living things in the forest. Birds ushered their dull warm sent onto the cool air as they filled it with music. Sunlight crashed through the foliage and made the many earthy browns and greens radiate off bitter and leafy scents as well. The day was unconditionally beautiful. A dark Optime who moved quietly along the grass and plants was reminded of his early puppyhood days. What a time that had been, playing with his brother and sister without a care in the world. The birds stopped singing suddenly as they finally noticed the predator underneath them. Jaden’s thoughts went through the same quick and dramatic change the forest seemed to without the song of birds. The time of his innocents was long gone. The more he thought about it, the more he realized he was less innocent than any other cold blooded killer. Even now he looked to up hold a bitterly evil deal he had made with a rather shady fellow who saved his life. The world seemed utterly cruel when kindness like that asked for death in return.

A sound interrupted Jaden’s thought stream and continued to suppress the vibrant happiness that seemed to be just under the surface of the quiet woodland. A quiet thudding that seemed to radiate from the earth itself. It was the unmistakable sound of fearful deer stampeding. Before his mind could return to its dark thoughts, Jaden began to move curiously toward the deer. He could smell the herd close by and had not hunted yet today, so he figured he could possibly catch up to them and find a meal, if whatever had scared them did not send them too far into the distance.

The Optime picked his pace up into a light jog. The shift in stance made his deer-leather chest strap dig uncomfortably into the long, bandaged injury on his body. He reached down and shifted it with his left arm, which also wore a white bandage around the bicep. Jaden had earned both on his way to ‘Souls, and though they were healing nicely, the bandages kept him in his most disliked form. He could take them off if he needed to shift but there was no way he could rewrap them without the use of thumbs. At least the form was his most useful, disliked or not. With it he could utilize the dagger sheathed on the shoulder strap near his hip, the bow and arrows held by the quiver on his back, and the various herbs in the brown satchel strapped to his back.

The herbs were various, but each one had a use in Jaden’s old life. Poisons for killing, medical and medicinal plants for healing, and the red dye he used for his fur. The poisons he had no use now that he had no one to hunt and the medical herbs would be useless once his injuries had healed, but he had just used the red dye to renew his fur’s dark red color. It replaced all the white on his body and was soothing for Jaden because he could now be concealed well by shadow, when before the black and white made it difficult for him to take shelter in snow or shadow.

Jaden finally came to a clearing. He could smell the appetizing slick and metallic sent of blood on the air now. The deer herd had unfortunately escaped far enough into the distance that Jaden felt he would have to track them for hours to catch up. So instead, he looked for the source of the crimson sent. His eyes fell upon a wolf he had never seen, which that was not a surprise. He was almost completely new to ‘Souls. The female was similar in color to Jaden’s natural coat, with dark colors and light alike, but she also had variations of the color on her in browns and dirty whites. She had taken down one of the dear herself, which was impressive to say the least. Without his bow, Jaden was not nearly agile enough to separate one from the herd, even in his secui form. She was no doubt a skilled hunter.

The disappointed Alaskan was about to, leaving when he noticed another wolf creeping upon her from the opposite side of the clearing. This wolf was also dark and light and about the same size as the female. He seemed interested in the kill by the way he was crawling lowly toward her and signaling his presence. Jaden was not sure how this was going to work out, and he still needed to figure out what pack held his target, so he hung back tried to stay hidden by the trees. He thought of the best way to approach the two of them.

OOC: The more the merrier!! And this is taking place in...*looks at map*...yes, Ethereal eclipse. Some miles away from the borderline of CdA

Sankara was having a feast. She hadn't tasted something so delicious since...yesterday? it didn't matter. She kept enjoying the piece of meat that she currently had on her mouth. But suddenly she noticed someone with the corner of her eye. It was another wolf. Sankara almost yelped in surprise. She didn't hear him coming. The male reminded her of a shadow. He had black fur, but his bellybuttom was greyish. She liked it. But the male was getting closer to her prey, and even thought she was a sharing woman, he was a stranger to her, and she didn't want to run any risk, so she straightened her ears, but remained relaxed, not wanting to look aggressive ready to take a dominant stance if needed. Though, that would be useless. The male was a bit bigger than her; not as enormous as shawchert, but still bigger.

"Hi!" Until the male made an aggressive movement, Sankara would show friendly. She was like that after all. She looked at his face, but not directly at his eyes. "My name is Sankara...yours?" Sankara sat down when she saw the male doing the same. Her attention was gone from the deer carcass laying beside her, as well as from the blood covering her muzzle. She had a creepy look like that. But she didn't really care. She seldom paid some attention to her look, except maybe when she groomed her fur; but in cases like this one, when she just ate, not with the best manners, and half of her face was covered with blood, she didn't even tried to disimulate it. As she stared at the male, her gaze found scars marking his skin. They seemed big, and perhaps old. It reminded her of Orin's. But she didn't stared at his scars for too long. That would be considered rude, so she moved her gaze to the male's eyes.

Suddenly, the wind changed and she catched another smell. Her head lifted as she noticed that they were not alone. She couldn't see who was coming, but she just hoped that it was someone easy going. It seemed that her prey was attracting too many visitors.

Leon felt himself relax when Sankara greeted him and introduced herself. He thought she seemed to be being to kind to him, but he would not complain about that. Giving a small honest smile, he introduced himself, bowing his head. "Hello to you, Sankara. My name is Leon ven Liudesys."

He set his ears forward to hear her easier, while taking weight off of his front right paw. His shoulder was feeling odd today, though that was probably just kinks from running so often, since he had similar pains all over.

"I apologize, I should not have barged in. I was just curious if you were part of a hunting group or not." He said, though, after considering, added, "I promise, I mean no harm to you or your pack." He bow his head again, this time in apology. 'Hope I didn't mess up already...' He thought.

As the wind shifted again, Sankara seemed to tense a little. He did as well when he noticed the large creature slowly walking closer. Though he did not seem aggressive at the time, Leon could not help but rise to his feet, and take on an aggressive stance. He did not know what the beast was, but he was not going to turn tail and leave Sankara alone.

He moved forward and to the left, stopping off to Sankara's right. "What is that?" Leon asked her, hoping she knew.

Sankara

Word Count→220 (+0) :: OOC: Just decided that there's No posting order. X3 This may be a little short until Jaden posts

Sankara stood on her feet. The other male, Leonard, tensed almost at the same time as her. There was someone observing them. Sankara turned towards the source of the smell and Stood on her feet, taking a dominant stance. "Leonard, it's ok, i already know that you mean no harm...but...i don't have a good feeling about this smell." She gave him a quick smile before turning her gaze to the border of the clearing.

But Sankara was surprised when she saw Leonard moving to stand beside her. This was unexpected. Sankara though that the male was attracted to her because of the smell of her prey, and maybe he did, but she didn't expect him being protective towards a complete stranger. However, Sankara wasn't going to leave either. So she stood as high as she could, prepare to face whatever was coming.

"I don't know what it is either, but i hope that it is alone." They where only two, and whatever was hiding there mustn't have had any oportunity against them. Sankara collected her tension and talked, controling her voice as much as she could. "Hi, would you please show yourself?". Her voice was soft, but it held anticipation. She waited for an answer, with a new commarade beside her, prepared for whatever was coming.

OOC: Sorry for the wait. I had a hectic weekend…

Words-300+

Jaden was till unsure of how to approach the two wolves in the clearing. The wind offered nothing to their identity’s as it brushed right past him and undoubtedly ushered his sent to their noses. It was clear they had detected Jaden when they both stood, speaking amongst themselves and asking about the woodland disturbance. The female stood a bit more dominantly than the male, and was the first to turn and face Jaden, unafraid. The male, who up until now was just another stranger, took a defensive position next to her and peered into the trees. This act of kinship made the two appear to be acquainted. Maybe they were hunting together from the same pack… Jaden thought to himself. Maybe they were mates… The maybes were numerous, but one thing was obvious, they had discovered the Alaskan and did not appreciate being watched. The wolves looked as thought they might come charging into the brush if Jaden did not make himself known. But, if they were from the same pack, they might not take to a stranger very well. The thought of drawing one of his weapons swam across the dark Optime’s mind before he banished it. Being hostile toward them might provoke an attack. So, Jaden took a deep breath and stepped into the sun.

Warmth ushered over his dark coat as he watched the wolves observe him, trying to read their reactions to him. He wanted to appear unthreatening, so he ignored the instinct that told him to lay a hand on his dagger’s sheath, and instead took a wide stance and raised his chin. There was no need for a fight, but there was also no need for Jaden to take a submissive stance toward two strangers on unclaimed land. “My name is Jaden Ohanzee,” He answered unflinchingly, “I mean no harm and I apologize for the unnecessary spying. I was trying not to interrupt the two of you...”

OOc: Lol, so much for relaxing weekends huh. XD Sorry that mine is so short, gotta get to school. >< WC: 935

Leon felt his ears twitch as the male spoke. He had never encountered something like this 'Jaden' fellow before. The other male was easily twice his height, and walked on two legs, which surprised Leon, since his body was reminiscent of a wolf. Still staring at Jaden, Leon spoke. "Well, I think hiding something as large as yourself would be a little difficult, wouldn't you think?" He tried to joke, though he doubted it would work. He was not a social wolf.

Leon was placing his trust in Sankara while facing this creature. He may have just met her, but at least she was a wolf for sure. He was not sure what to do. He did not want to fight an unnecessary battle, but was also uncomfortable with having not noticed Jaden approach him. 'Hopefully we can resolve this without violence...' He thought uneasily.

Sankara

Word Count→000 :: OOC: New reply X3

Sankara relaxed as the newcomer came to view. He was on it's Optime form, and patches of his fur where red (the most probable was that it was dyed). He was carrying a bag, and he had a bandage around his torso. The bandage catched her eye. Concern showed up in her eyes as the stranger introduced himself, apologizing for spying. "It's ok, now we know who you are". Sankara limited to say. As she saw the man's eyes, she noticed that he was showing dominant, and that he wasn't going to flinch. And Sankara couldn't protest. After all, it was unclaimed land. Still, she didn't like the way the man was looking at them. It made her concern flinch. Well, all what Sankara could do to prevent a problem was to show friendly.

She was about to introduce herself when Leonard made a comment. It sounded rude, but the tone left clear that he didn't mean it to sound like that. Before the red-painted male could do something, she tried to fix it. "Hey! his size isn't matter of joke! i can shift into that form as well." She softened her voice, so the scold sounded more like a casual comment. Then she turned to the stranger. "By the way, my name is Sankara". Her stance was now more relaxed, but she still had an air of dominance. They where next to her prey, so the place was temporary hers...her prey! Sankara turned towards it. With the conmotion she had lost apetite, but if she left them to eat it, then it would be like making them the dominants. And the black male didn't seem very trustworthy. "Humm, tell me Jaden, what brought you here?". This day was having an interesting turn out.

The looks Jaden found played across the two strangers were somewhat amusing and curious. The male, who had made an odd joke about Jaden’s size, seemed utterly shocked by the Alaskan’s presence. Jaden thought he might have been left in awe by the brutally elegant stealth in the assassin’s step, but further noticed that the wolf was staring. Had he never seen a Luperci before, or had Jaden not cleaned his fur well enough? He almost glanced down to make sure because it didn’t seem possible for someone to have never seen a canine stricken with the power of shape shifting, and even more strange for a pack wolf to be oblivious.

The female was not as curious or profoundly staring at him, so the Optime figured she was not intimidated and that his fur was clean. He had not meant to play the role of big and scary, so her still lasting dominance was acceptable. She scolded the other wolf about his joke with a casual tone and clamed she had an Optime form like Jaden’s. He doubted it was as well built because of her slender-looking figure, but the way she spoke again made Jaden feel like they were acquainted somehow.

Her eyes scanned the fur and wounds on Jaden’s body, and he thought there had been a touch of sympathy in her suddenly deeply exposing eyes. She stated her name: Sankara, before that look quickly changed into an expression Jaden had seen many times before. She turned her back to him and seemed to focus on her kill, acting like she felt no danger of leaving herself vulnerable to the Optime. Yet another dominant move showed that she wanted control of the situation or felt she was protected by the ignorant male standing stiffly beside her. She tossed that familiar look over he shoulder again before asking what Jaden’s business was. Her eyes told of distrust.

“I am new to the area,” Jaden said, making his voice rich and warm and relaxing his stance a little. If interacting with these wolves meant showing some softness or slight submission, then so be it. “and as such, I don’t know anyone. I am trying to find a friend of mine,” He lied, “but might end up staying. It would be nice to not be a complete stranger if I do.” He looked from Sankara to the male and back. “Of course, if I am interrupting...”

Leon looked at Sankara and back to Jaden, curiosity playing in his eye. The larger male had shown no signs of aggression, so he began to relax a bit, shuffling his right fore paw. "'Shift into that form? What is 'that form?'" He asked quietly. He had not interacted with many wolves in this area, so he was unsure of what was going on. Where he came from, there were no wolves like Jaden. Even traveling here, he had not seen any other bipedal creatures, so he continued to scan the new wolf with interest.

When Sankara began looking at her kill, Leon almost laughed. He had forgotten she was eating before this. "Maybe we should wait until you've finished your meal? I don't think we have anything pressing to say..." He said, letting his sentence linger as he looked to Jaden, giving the other male the opportunity to correct him if he was mistaken.

He twitched his ears again as Jaden stated his reason for being in the area. His voice sounded uneven... But maybe that was just him. "Looking for a friend huh?" Leon whispered, dropping his gaze and losing his stiff stance. "Where did you travel from?" He asked louder, stiffing again to appear serious, hoping this stranger had news of him. 'If you are alive, brother, I'll find you.' He thought to himself, shuffling his foot again.

OOC: Short post fail Sad

Words-230

After stating his business, Jaden noticed the intensity in the air calm a small amount. The male who had been eyeing him seemed to be still unsure of Jaden. There was something in his stance, the way it slacked a little before he asked his question that indicated some deep feelings about something Jaden had said. Did he have ties to the world outside these territories? Or was he on the lookout for shady characters because he had a price on his head? The thought crossed Jaden’s mind with surprise as he realized this very wolf could be his target. He could be Vigilante Haskel! Jaden kept his voice even and ignored the fur that was trying to stand on his shoulders. “I traveled from Alaska. It is the farthest west you can go from here without hitting the sea.” He eyed the male casually. He did not look as dangerous as he had been described to be, if he was Vigilanty. “I have no name for you stranger, what might I call you?” The assassin had a desperate desire to rest his hand upon the dagger near his hip, but resisted. They had just calmed the mood. Grabbing at a weapon might cause some panic for the two other wolves. Jaden left his claw open restlessly at his side, ready to unsheathe the dagger in the blink of an eye.

OOc: Sorry this is so short. ><

"Alaska?... Tsk." Leon said, sighing in defeat. He was not even sure if Phoenix was in Alaska, so he would have to finish the search here first. Bringing his eyes to meet those of Jadens, Leon answered his question. "My name is Leon ven Liudesys. I traveled here searching for someone." As Leon answered, he again shuffled his right fore paw, testing his weight on it. The air between them seemed tense, and a cold spike formed in Leons stomach when he looked into Jadens eyes. He had the look of a predator looking at its prey. 'Oookay...' He thought.

"Tell me, please, Jaden, did you ever meet a timber wolf, male, who is colored the same as myself? He would possibly be the same height as me. His name is Phoenix." He asked, controlling his voice so it came out evenly. If this male had seen Phoenix, it could end his search here and now. He had not forgotten about Sankara, but Jaden had been traveling around, and it looked like it was recent, so he had high hopes. If Jaden didn't know, maybe Sankara or someone else would.

OOC: More short postage Sad

Words-230

Light blue eyes met Jaden’s dark blue as their owner shuffled, again, on his front right paw and gave his name: Leon. The paw seemed to be bothering him, but he did not acknowledge it to Jaden, but instead seemed disappointed when hearing of his Alaskan heritage. The Optime held the timber wolf’s gaze and watched carefully for any signs of fear or deceit. When nothing more than honesty and maybe a small bit of oddly placed sadness showed, Jaden again relaxed his body.

Leon continued with the questions after a moment of thought. He asked if Jaden had ever met a wolf similar in many ways to him. He was searching for someone as well. “I have met no such wolf,” The dark Optime said, shifting his wait from one foot to the other. “The only wolves I ever used to interact with were Alaskan or Tundra wolves. Both are slightly larger and darker than you, Leon. Sorry, but I never met a wolf named phoenix.” He said with a slight nod. “But, if you—” Jaden glanced at Sankara. “Either of you know of the local packs, you might be able to help me find my friend. I know he came here some time ago after having some problems with our pack, but to where exactly, I haven’t a clue. His name is Vigilante. Do you know of him?”

Sankara

Word Count→454(+3) :: OOC: Sorry that i posted a bit late, hehe don't kill me...

Sankara munched another piece of meat. Leonard had motioned her to finish her meal. And Sankara accepted inmediately. The carcass disappeared with every mouthful, while she listened to what the males talked about.

She still owed Leonard an explanation about Lupercis. But his question surprised her. She thought that everybody knew about Lupercis. after all, they were almost everywhere! in fact it was rare to meet somebody who was non-Luperci. Besides that, Jaden had implied something about interrupting; something that Sankara answered with a shake of her head and explained that they had just met. Since then, she had only listened to the male's talk. She had began to like Jaden, despite his looks and his glance. He was only looking for a friend. Her concern came back, and she began to peek on his direction, wondering if somebody back at Cercatori d' Arte knew something about healing.

Her thoughts about medicine were interrupted when Leon mentioned something about his brother. He was looking for him. But as Sankara was about to offer her help, the other male revealed that he had no clue about who he was looking for. He glanced at them both, and asked for their help to find this friend of his. Though, he said the word 'friend' with some urge on his tone, as if it was very important to find him. Sankara shaked her head. Until now, the only people that she knew was her pack, and she didn't knew all of it, leave alone other packs. "I'm sorry Jaden, but i don't know this Vigilante guy that you are talking about". Sankara stood up, shaked the dirt off her fur, and licked her muzzle, cleaning any traces of blood left after her meal. "Maybe somebody at Cercatori d' Arte...i mean, my pack...may know about him. I can go and ask..."

Then she looked at the remains of the carcass. She was already satisfied, but there was still plenty of meat for the other to males. "I'm finished here, you can eat if you want..." She bowed her head, and sat between both males. Then she turned to Leon. Even though she had began to like the bigger male, she liked the other male a bit more. She saw that he was constantly lifting a paw. "Are you ok? it seems like that paw isn't in a very good condition...does it hurt much?" She looked at him with concern. "I...well, i think that i owe you an explanation about Lupercis, but...i am curious". She looked down. "Why are you looking for your brother? what happened to him?". Of course, he must have been lost or something...but you never know.

OOc: Your too fun to kill. ^^ *picks up piano* This'll do though. >:3

Hearing the confirmation that Jaden had not seen Phoenix, Leon closed his eyes, holding in his sigh. 'Damn it...' He thought, cursing his luck. He sat down again, opening his eyes to look at the sky. "I apologize Jaden, but I'm pretty new here myself. I haven't met many wolves. I usually avoid others... But I was having a lot of difficulty not getting lost. I was hoping to find someone to help me find Phoenix, since I was directed to 'Souls by an old friend. I was not completely sure though, so I thought I'd ask. After being lost so many times, I was ready to go to a new area." He said, his heart sinking. He had searched for three months, and had not found his brother, here or anywhere in the area near his old pack lands. Almost biting himself, he looked down again. "I apologize if I was rude when you mentioned your home Jaden. Its just to distance to Alaska was frustrating to me. If he was there, I would be even further behind my brother."

When Sankara offered food, he gave her a smile that did not really reach his eyes. "Thank you for the offer Sankara, but I filled up the other day." He said. It wasn't lie, but it wasn't exactly the truth either. He ate the other day, but did not finish the meal. Though, that was his problem, not hers or Jadens.

"My paw is okay." He answered Sankara, being completely honest. "I'm sorry, my shuffling is more out of habit than any pain. The wound was on my shoulder, and took its time healing, so I developed a habit of keeping weight off of my leg unless needed." He explained. He took a moment to collect his thoughts for the next question.

When Leon gathered his thoughts, he began slowly, gaze going from the sky to Sankara. The question surprised him, since he never expected anyone to bother and ask what happened. Only about why Leon searched for him, which he had no problem answering. "Well... I'm not sure myself. We were separated at six months because our pack was..." He stopped himself when he realized where he was going. He sighed and looked back to the sky. "Atleisk man... When our pack dissolved. He was gone at the time, but never returned. We all thought he was dead, up till an old family friend came and told me he had seen Phoenix alive, and heading here. I immediately took off, hoping I could catch him. He is the only family I have, and I need to know he is okay." Leon finished, eyes closed and head facing the sky once more.

More than anything else, he wanted to howl right now. He wanted to release the emotions in his heart, and relieve some of the pain, if only for a moment. "Phoenix is my twin. He literally is all I have left... I lost him once. I don't know how I'll react to losing him again though." Leon finished, looking at the female. He felt no reason to lie to her, and she gave off a pleasant aura. Glancing to Jaden, Leon noticed the other male had relaxed,

OOC: Kill you?... Na Smile

Words-800+

Sankara spoke up after her brief silence to say that she didn’t know anything about Vigilante right before Leon said the same. Jaden’s ears flattened and he sighed. It seemed this character he searched for was very allusive. NO ONE Jaden had met thus far knew a single thing about him. He did know that Vigilante was not part of Cercatori D’ Arte or Dahlia de Mia, so that was some sort of a start. The only other Packs around here where Cour de Miracles, AniWaya, and Crimson Dreams. Searching around them or asking a territory sentry about Vigilante would take numerous more days and many more useless conversations like the one Jaden now found himself in. Sankara had offered to ask her pack about Vigilante, but the Alaskan did not want to make himself or his search known to anyone who would not directly speak with him, in case they were to warn his target or come after Jaden once he was dealt with. He also felt it was unfair to ask Sankara to go so far out of her way for a complete stranger. “Your offer is very kind,” He said to Sankara, “But you don’t need to burden yourself with carrying messages for me.” He smiled, something he realized he had not done in a long time. “And I am not hungry either.”

When Jaden politely declined Sankara’s offer, she proceeded to ask Leon of the brother he searched for. She seemed to be very compassionate because of her concern for not only Leon’s paw, but for why he was here too. The dark Optime had also noticed her glancing at his wounds with a worried look about her. It felt strange to meet commonly good people. Jaden had spoken with many scumbags during his short life.

The strange feeling of kindness seemed to poison Jaden’s dark intent and he had the erg to stay and converse with the two wolves before him. They offered no more information and, if Jaden left ‘Souls after his mission, it was probable the assassin would never see them again. But, although the cold state of mind he had developed lately pushed him to rudely and abruptly leave his now useless company, he decided to stay. With careful movements so he would not put pressure on his injured arm or stretch his cut midsection, Jaden slowly sat in the grass with his legs crossed. It seemed a little awkward to be looking down on the two wolves constantly.

Sankara had taken a seat between him and Leon too. While she spoke to Leon, Jaden was distracted by the different hues and tints of her fur. There were no Mexican wolves in the most western parts of Alaska, so the mix of browns, white, and black seemed very foreign. A small moon-shaped pendent had caught his eye when Leon’s apology called for his attention once more. “Don’t feel bad, I understand why you are unhappy.” He said calmly.

Leon began to answer Sankara’s concerned questions with some pain in his figure. As he spoke of his former life and his lost brother, he looked into the sky as if trying to find comfort in the soft blue while his mind was undoubtedly venturing back to times past. Thought he seemed like an honest fellow, Jaden felt that he was leaving out something intentionally, probably more for his own comfort than theirs. Jaden felt it was not is business, but would not have asked about it anyway because his mind was not venturing back to memories of HIS brother. The wolf he had grown up with. The wolf who knew him better than any of the other murderous members of Uva Atka and had trained with him everyday. The wolf who had also murdered their sister in cold blood, framed him for it, then taken his mate and first born pup. All so he could steal the Alpha position.

Extreme anger ripped through Jaden as he wished sat and wished so badly he could murder that wolf. To trust his dagger into the chest of his brother in a fit of bloodthirsty rage would offer so much relief from the bitter hate that consumed every thought of his old life. But he pushed the thoughts of murder and rage away as quickly as he could. The mood was friendly and easy going now. Such thoughts would quickly spoil Jaden’s mood and cause him to retreat from the conversation into the woods to reconcile with his emotions. So instead, he concentrated on Leon’s story and did not let his mind wonder to his own life.

Once the other male finished with his story, Leon glanced at the two listeners. Jaden admired Leon’s courage for being able to share something so personal with people who were strangers to him. “I’m sorry you have lost your brother. I hope you have more luck finding him.”

OOc: Sorry its so short, wasn't much for Leon to say at the moment. D:

Leon nodded to acknowledge Jaden. "Thank you. I just hope he is still around, to be honest." He said quietly. Clearing his throat, he decided to ask, "I'm sorry, but what is a Luperci? I've never met anyone like you Jaden."

Leon looked curiously at the large male, and the smaller female, wondering what the story was. His pack had never encountered anyone like Jaden either, or, at least, never told the younger pups about it. He waited eagerly for the promised explanation from Sankara, curious about what made caused their mutation.

Sankara

Word Count→624(+5) :: OOC: Nuuu!! dun kill meeh!! *hides behind Jaden*...and sorry if i rushed on this chapter, any mistakes will be corrected later. *hides behind Jaden again*

Jaden's face almost fell when both Sankara and Leonard gave him the unwanted answer. No, they hadn't seen this guy Vigilante. She was surprised about how little did she know about the new lands. She would have to ask Shawchert about it sometime...

The female peeked at her prey. She hoped that the two other males would be hungry. She didn't want it to waste it, specially when it took her too much effort to hunt. So her face almost fell when both males rejected her offer. Such a good meat...wasted. At least I hope that a scavenger could benefit from it.

But her frown disappeared when Leon explained her the reason of his limping, and apologized about it as well. "You don't have to apologize, it is just one of those old habits that don't go away so easily." Jaden supported her idea. As the dark female turned to look at Jaden, she noticed that he was sitting beside them; maybe he was getting tired of looking both wolves downwards, and to be truthful, Sankara was tired of looking up as well. She noticed that he was examining her fur, and the feelings held on his eyes that she had noticed some minutes ago where gone. Now he looked more calmed, almost relaxed in their presence, as if somehow the atmosphere had calmed him. Not only that. As Sankara looked around her, she noticed that the three of them where no longer in a dominant stance. What some kind words can do with people.

When she turned towards Leonard to hear the answer to her question. As he began to speak, he turned his head towards the sky, as if he was trying not to get overwhelmed by his memmories. She knew that feeling perfectly. His pack had been dissolved, and his brother had disappeared. And now he was looking for him. Sankara looked at the floor, and back to Leonard. "I'm really sorry, i hope that i could help you in some way, but I'm afraid that i don't know much about these lands." Again, Jaden supported her idea. "...yeah, i hope that you can find him soon".

During the next few seconds, Sankara looked at the floor, but she turned her head up when the male asked about Lupercis. This rose her mood, and before Jaden could say something else, Sankara began to talk, even though the question was for the said wolf. "Well, I don't exactly know the origin of Lupercis, but we have the ability to shift into three forms. Lupus, Secui and Optime." She was told about Lupercis since a young age, but she didn't have a lot of infromation about the topic. still, she explained him what she knew. "Lupus is the form in which we are" she said looking down at herself. "The Secui form is still a quadruped, but it is more muscular, more husky. I would compare it with a complexion for fighting". Maybe her comparison wasn't very good but that's what she used her Secui form to...to fight or to travel. "And the last one is Optime. That's the stage in which Jaden currently is. I've seen wolves who enjoy being on this form rather than in the other two, but i barely shift into it." Sankara looked at Jaden for advice. Because of her preference, she didn't really know all the things that she would be able to do in her Optime form. And then she spoke underbreath. "And this ability can be transmitted to non-luperci wolves, by what i've heard."

Her information wasn't quite a lot, but maybe Jaden knew more about the topic...

Words-600+

Sankara explained the basic traits of luperci with common facts that most infected with the virus knew. In truth, Jaden knew more than most about the sickness. In his former pack, it had been Jaden’s job to quickly execute those who were not in his blood that contracted luperci. So, he had to know how to distinguish luperci from normal wolves easily. He still had a low-lying hatred for the form he found himself in now. Been taught to the point of near brainwash he was a demon, inspired grate disdain for his Optime form. Luperci was a curse, Jaden had been told so many times, from the hell of humaniy. The more he thought about it, the more Jaden realized what a load of crap he had been fed, and willingly believed. “Demon luperci” had only been the poorly justified killing of unlucky innocents.

So, when Sankara peered in his direction for more of a definition for luperci, Jaden grimaced slightly. He did not want to be reminded of his life before ‘Souls in anyway. After a short pause, Jaden realized both wolves were waiting for an answer from the Alaskan and he pushed himself to give one. “Sankara is correct,” he breathed, “I was taught the same facts she has, but a little more. You see, my…” Jaden hesitated when referring to Uva Atka as HIS pack, “my former pack is very religiously centered. They believe luperci is a demonic curse left by humans. Whether it was truly left by humans before they went extinct, I’m not sure, but I do know it is transferable or catchable. Again, Sankara was correct in saying it can be ‘given’,” Jaden said the last word with a small, almost unnoticeable emphasize of disgust. Luperci is not a gift to be given, “to another non-luperci canine. It takes direct contact with infected bodily fluids like blood and such to get the sickness. Once someone has been infected, they under go a small period of not being in complete control of their changes, but eventually can control it freely like Sankara and I. My parents had luperci when they conceived me, so I have had it all my life and did not have to go though contracting it. I have only seen it happen.” He paused for a second and looked at Sankara, wondering if she had been born with it as well. Words and memories swam over Jaden’s dark blue eyes as he recalled more than he wished to share. Without standing, he reached down to his hip and slid out the silver blade of his dagger. Practiced elegance allowed him to prove his next point. “The Optime form has its advantages over Securi or lupus. It is slower and usually weaker, but the dexterity is quite magnificent.” Jaden spun the perfectly weighted dagger between his claws lightly with an airy metallic sound before tossing it into the air. It spun end to end twice before landing, hilt first in the Alaskan’s palm. He did this without looking away from Sankara and Leon. The weapon was meant to find its sheath after the demonstration, but Jaden continued to fiddle with it absentmindedly, “Thumb-less paws cannot allow the manipulation needed to learn swordplay, writing, or various other useful talents I have seen done with fingered claws.” Jaden paused again, trying to think of whether he had left anything he knew out. “mmmm… I have also seen that luperci live a bit longer than other wolves normally do. That is all I can recall at the moment though,” Jaden continued to think while still toying with the blade. It was a habit he had practiced many times before his journey to ‘Souls and the familiarity kept him enticed now as he glanced Sankara, incase she had anything to add or correct him on.
