The male’s eyes were red with signs of exhaustion, his fur matted down in various places and even thinning out due to stress. If this long trip from France to Canada had taught him anything, it was that he hated the ocean. The boat trip had been miserable, filled with choppy waters, the horrible smell of salt, and plenty of sea sickness. The young adult of nearly a year and a half years old had never been so happy to see land. However, the land had proved to be less than promising.

Arriving to the area of Bleeding Souls, a place he’d chosen after analyzing possible locations to start his new adult life, he’d found nothing but disappointment. The area was no more than the charred remains of what once was and what could have been. Aleksander had been so exhausted, so disappointed, so miserable because of this, that for the first ten minutes of his time on land, he had done nothing but sit down and cry. He’d cried, and cried, and cried, until he was sure he’d used up all the tears he could have ever had.

The captain offered then to take Alek to another place and drop him off, free of charge, but the thought of getting back on that boat and heading back out to sea was just too much for the hybrid, and so he’d cried a little more. Possibly believing that Aleksander was an overly-emotional teen, the captain had shrugged and headed off with no more than a nod goodbye.

Aleksander had finished feeling sorry for himself by then, and deciding that Bleeding Souls had to connect to a better, more fertile land, he’d wandered onward, soon mixing in with the other travelers who were deserting their former home. A few patches of land were still blazing, but for the most part the fire was beginning to die down.

So that was how his first day had gone. A lot of walking, a lot of stopping to feel sorry for himself, a lot of punching inanimate objects, etc. Oh the woes of adulthood.
