she called it her future

It had been a very long time since Princess had left the pack's territory, and she could not remember doing it at all since she had been attacked by Minos on the borders of her pack. The young woman had been a bit nervous when crossing the borders and walking away from the pack she had called home for a year now. She had dressed quietly, dressing in a thick cotton dress in a soft shade of lilac, adjusting the jewelled dragonfly necklace that rested on her breastbone. Her hair was pinned up delicately and she thought she looked absolutely lovely. She had kissed Haven good bye and had left him with their three young children, and then she had left the pack's territory with an old satchel bag to carry books back with her.

She had talked it over with Vigilante and she had decided that she wanted to pursue a story-telling co-rank. She didn't quite have the creative mind to make up stories, at least not yet, but her King had told her that it would be fine to draw inspiration from other books, as she read often. The young Lady Chance looked up to the large stone building of the library, quickly glancing around to make sure that she was not going to get attacked, and then entered the building and began purusing the shelves.

J'adore was once again trawling the library. The great shelves were littered with books, many of which he hadn't read before. He picked up a few and placed the in his bag.

He had been doing well in his job placement, still on the bottom rank, but it had been said, by Ralla no less, that he would excel in no time. It would be fun to share a rank wih the wolfess, maybe he could even leap frog her to the top,but that would take dedication and knowledge, so J'adore was spending his time in the mythology section. His aim was mainly to find similar stories and compare the morals. It wasn't a task that had been set for him, it was more of a side job to boost his prospects at a promotion.

The many books he owned himself normally were shared around between his friends, he knew Ayasha had been reading a mythology book when she was in his cabin, but so far that was the only book that was out of his hands. Valinta had borrowed a book or two in the past as well.

J'adore was now so focused on his search, he didn't notice the wolfess that was also present.

The last time that Princess had been in the library here had not been a particularly pleasant experience. She had met one of Haven's half-siblings, Harlowe, and the encounter had not been an overly pleasant one. Harlowe had told her she wasn't pretty, and it upset her greatly. Though she was not nearly as vain as she had been, this had still been a great blow to her self-esteem, as the young Lady Chance knew that she was exceptionally beautiful. It was not a conceited thought; it was true. Just as some were stronger, more brave, or faster, some were far more beautiful than others, and she was one of those. It had been upsetting for Harlowe to tell her she was not pretty and to insult her so greatly, though Haven had consoled her when she had gotten home that day. Princess certainly disliked her mate's half-brother, but it did not seem that Haven had a relationship with him at all, so it was fine, as she did not ever have to see him.

It seemed that she would need a large supply of different types of stories. Certainly she would want some for very young puppies, as the pack had quite a few right now, but she would want some for both older puppies and adults, as well. She started looking in the section labelled "Children's," golden gaze scanning the dusty titles on the shelves. Many had gone through this library before she had, and as a result, the books were skewed and out of place. She pulled a book off the shelf and blew on it begrudgingly, trying to rid the front cover of dust. The young Lady Chance coughed loudly in the cloud of dust that resulted from the action, closing her eyes and sneezing once. There had been more dust than she had expected.

WC- 200 Big Grin

The Spaniard was nearing his third birthday, March the Third, but that didn't stop his hearing from being as sharp as anything. After hearing a loud sound, which at the time he hadn't decoded, he rushed aimlessly towards the 'Childrens' section, where he thought he heard the sound.

Standing there was a female. A quite pretty female. J'adore mentally slapped himself, before realising he was doing no wrong by thinking the woman had good looks, he wasn't actually doing anything. Valinta would understand, maybe after a quite conversation.

J'adore, now reassured there was no reason for alarm, took a breath and smiled, 'Apologies for my intrusion'. He took a few steps forward, gazing along the shelves as he went. He stopped just before the female and smiled again, 'Are you looking for anything in particular?' was his simple question. She hadn't been intruding on any packlands, but he was sure she had places to be, J'adore did also, but he was a male and wouldn't it be polite for a man to aid a woman, even if it pushed back him time?

Realising he had not made an introduction he smiled for the third time and added, 'I'm J'adore Austral'

Though she had been trying to remain alert as to any sounds that could indicate that she was no longer alone, Princess' attention was focused on the book she held between her hands. She hated to do it because it got her hand dirty, but she used one palm to brush away the remaining grime that had been left there by time. Ew, she thought, inwardly horrified at the disgusting feeling of the dust and dirt on the fur of her hand. She was looking over the title when J'Adore approached, and the pretty young woman started momentarily. She nearly dropped the book from her hands, the strange man had startled her so much. Princess had not realized that there was someone else there, much less a strange man from a different pack that she was not able to immediately recognize the scent of.

"I'm Princess Chance," she said, still watching him warily. She felt absurd for feeling so on edge, but experience had told her that strange males could never be trusted immediately. The encounter with the white loner Minos had not been her first like that. Anselm de le Poer had saved her from another strange male once, such a long time ago. "Just looking for some books... I'm interested in becoming the story-teller for my pack, so I figured I would need some books to draw inspiration from," she spoke. The young Lady Chance was still extremely wary of the stranger, but she did not want to be rude, even if her tone was a bit aloof. She had never been a social butterfly, though, so that was nothing out of the ordinary for her, anyway.

She did not really know what to say after her explanation of what she was doing, but the pretty young woman felt extremely out of place now. "What are you doing here?" Some might have thought it a rude question, but the young woman was fishing for something to talk about, since he did not seem to be planning to leave right away.

'Ahh' he said nodding as she stated her reason for being in the library. She then asked his reasons for being here. Like you I am looking for some books, I have a vast collection of books, but I've ran out of new leaf' was his reply. He didn't find it rude, she had a right to be slightly spooked by the Spaniard's sudden entrance, but she hid it well and carried on with the conversation.

The Spaniard picked a book from the shelf and smiled, 'This is a good one'. It was a mythology, with stories from various religions and vivid pictures. J'adore had read it once before, actually maybe a few times more, seeing as he had brought his copy over from his home country. This was not his copy though, the copy he had was written in Spanish, while this one was written in English, but the pictures were still the same.

J'adore himself was after more adult books, things talking of history, science, theology and the like. But it was good to have varied shelves, he thought as his white eyes once again were drew upon the shelves in wonder. There were so many he had not read, it would take him a lifetime to read them all.

It felt good to be finally doing something productive for the pack she had called home for a year now, even if it was simply working towards having a duty within the Miracles pack, rather than doing something helpful each day. She almost felt envious of Alaine, whose duty as the pack's apothecary was needed often. Princess had never felt the calling towards healing, but she did wish sometimes that she could feel as needed as the apothecary was. The young Lady Princess had not gone out of her way to find a job, though, and she did not feel as if she was a burden on the pack. She was happy there, and even with her new young puppies, she kind of wished she had something else to do. It could get boring when Haven was out doing his pack duties, and she wanted something to do when he was out and she wanted something that would make her feel useful. Truthfully, she did not have many skills and she could not really think of anything to do other than story-telling, or perhaps the job of scout and spy Vigilante had mentioned. As a young girl, Princess had been adept at lying, so perhaps that was why she thought those jobs might suit her the most.

"What's that one about?" she asked, peering at the book he had pulled down from the shelf. The pretty young woman was shorter than most luperci and could only imagine that there were some on the very top shelf that she would not see on her own. "I need to find books that have good stories for puppies, I think, and maybe some for older puppies, too. Our pack has a lot of puppies right now, though, so that's what I'm looking for, mostly." There were her own puppies, of course, and the King's two sons, as well, and of course Niro's older daughter Magnolia, and the young woman thought there might be a few more. It was certainly a larger number than they usually had.

J'adore nodded and gave an understanding nod, 'Well, it's a book of myths, with very vivid pictures and simple yet, beautiful text. Very descriptive. It should be easy to draw inspiration from. And whats more quite a few of the stories have clear morals and come from a wide variety of places and religions'. He was happy with his words, he was sure he had captured a great deal of the good point of the miracle book he held in his hands. But then again, 'You'd have to read it to get the full experience'. The Spaniard added his thoughts onto the ends as well, 'I've had a copy of this from the time when I was stuck in my Lupus form'

He had been rambling, but he ended his speech with a definte answer, 'I'm sure this will please a variety of ages'. Of course, the female would need a few books to return with, althought the thick, almost tome sized book, would probably keep her pack mates busy for a while.

Many of the books that Princess had read in her lifetime were meant for older audiences and she did not think she could draw much inspiration from them for stories she would be telling to young puppies. That was the main reason that she had found herself in the library that day, though the young Lady Chance had become very uncomfortable in leaving her pack's territory. The pretty young woman seemed to run into a lot of trouble when she left the safety of the Miracles pack, protected by her wonderful mate. She did not seem to be having any troubles today, though, thankfully. J'Adore seemed harmless enough, at any rate.

She listened to the explanation with an interest she normally did not hold when others were explaining things to her, for Princess had a stubborn mind and a fiery personality and liked to discover things on her own without the help of others. However, if she wanted to find the best books to tuck into her bag and take home to study to earn herself a co-rank within the pack of Miracles, it would only aid her to listen to what he was telling her. Having two minds looking for good books to take would be better than one, even if she was normally the type to deny help if it was offered to her.

"Do you mind if I take this one, then?" she asked, tucking the book she had pulled off the shelf before he had arrived into her bag and looking to the one he held. "Maybe it will help me some, but if you want it if your copy is gone, maybe we can look for another copy. What do you do in AniWaya?" she asked, recognizing the pack scent. She did not often meet members of the tribe, but she had visited once and met Susquehanna and her daughter, Desiree.

The Spaniard turned back to the lady, he shook his head, 'No, no, my copy is somewhere in my house', he smiled, stressing 'somewhere'. He didn't know where his book was exactly, probably hidden under the mountains of paper. He passed the female the book.

After he was inquired his pack job he smiled again, 'I am a Gata Hineyu, a fire keeper. Right now my duties are restricted to stocking and learning, teaching others, but I have been working hard to earn a promotion'. He enjoyed his work, he found working next to burning fires reminded him of Europe's (generally) hot weather.

His milky eyes moved to the shelves again, flying over the books. Many of which he knew. Some he disregarded, for plain storylines or for the patronising way they explained things. Many he had leafed through on his earlier visits dragged on as if they were speaking slowly, they way you would explain things to an idiot. Finally he saw something good.

She smiled, a lovely sight, at his reassurances and she accepted the book gratefully, slipping it into the bag beside the other one. The last time she had been scavenging for things to put in this bag had been when she was but a mere pup, scouring a seaside town with a different tribal man, Hemming. She had not seen him, nor Susquehanna and Desiree, in quite a long time. There were many that Princess had met that she had not seen in a long while, though she would not go so far as to call any of them friends. The young Lady Chance had a very difficult time making friends, and in fact, when she was younger, they had been very unimportant to her. Survival and taking care of her abused and neglected brother had always been her priority as a pup. Her abilities to make friends had not really grown much, though she was more friendly than she had been when she was very young. That was very likely due to Haven, though.

"Thank you," she said and then listened to what he had to say about his duties to the pack. The tribe had a very different way of living than the Court did, she knew, though she was relatively uneducated on the tribe's inner workings. "That sounds interesting," she said, although truthfully she was not sure if it really did. It sounded like dangerous work and the risk for burning fur seemed high, and Princess' fur was too beautiful and soft to burn. It sounded like it would be tedious work, too.

Beautiful golden gaze looked back to the shelf as she scanned over the worn and faded titles on the battered books, looking for something else of potential interest. She wanted to have at least a few to bring back so that the trip would not be a waste. "Do you see anything else, or do you think we should check another shelf?"

J'adore nodded, 'Your welcome'. He reached up to a shelf a little higher than where his ears reached and pulled down a pair of books. 'These two are good', he said surveying them. 'This one', he said holding up the green covered one, 'Has no pictures, but the writing itself is easy to read, it would be sutible for teaching individuals to read. Entertaining and easy'. He passed it over to his other had and began his next speech, 'This one is a little harder, but it has a few pictures every so often, so maybe it would suite the older members'. He glanced over to the other side of the aisle, where the books for older children were located.

His thin legs powered over to the other side and white eyes scanned the shelving. 'Over here' he said beconning over to the female. 'I can recomend basically all of these books on this part of the shelf, but for now...' he reached up and pulled 3 books from there place, uprooting several thousands of particles of dust. Flicking his ears and frowning as the dust fell from his ears onto his shoulders, he brushed the fallout from the black patches. 'These are a trilogy, same characters, different adventures. You can make up other stories with the same characters, it lets people feel...' he was stuck for words, 'As if they are old friends'. He nodded again to back up his findings.

The tribal man seemed friendly and he also seemed willing to help her find the books that she was looking for. Princess was willing to let him do the work for her, as she did not know where to begin and he could reach the shelves that were too high for her to reach herself. Though she was one to read often, Princess had never been the type to read books aimed at younger audiences. She had been forced to grow up early, though she had matured much later than that and was still doing so. She no longer fought tooth and nail against anyone that she felt like and she did not often pick fights anymore. It had taken time, but she had matured greatly.

The young Lady Chance accepted the books as they were passed to her, listening to the brief explanations he had given her. She had not been thinking of using these books to teach anyone to read, but she realized that these books might be very useful when it came time to teach Linden, Robin, and Felicity that skill. She had been very young when she had learned to read, and though she had never taught anyone else how to do it, Princess knew that she would need to begin doing that soon with Haven. She wanted the best for her children in the lives that they were only just beginning.

She smiled her lovely smile at the tribal man that had helped her find a few books to assist her in what she was planning to do. "Thank you so much for helping me. I expect that these will help me achieve the Mantes co-rank, and hopefully soon." She had been a member of the Miracles pack for over a year now and she absolutely needed to do something useful for the pack other than keep to herself and love her mate and raise the pack's newest trio of members.

'Well good luck' J'adore said smiling goodheartedly. Princess, as far as J'adore was concerned, seemed dedicated to a job she didn't yet have and that was a good sign. 'Do you think you'll need anymore books?' J'adore wasn't sure if the four he had found were enough, if not he would be glad to find more. And then again if so, he would suggest finding a few blank notebooks to scribe her own tales in.

Either way he would help, his day wasn't very busy. His duties that day had been covered by Oceane, so there was little for him to occupy himself with besides from ambling around Nova Scotia, so helping people who crossed his path was basically the best he could come up with since hed already tried most things. His list at the current moment ranged from reading and writing, to scaling human buildings to find new junk. Helping people was his favourite out of the list, not only did it give the Spaniard something to do, it aided people who needed aid.

Though she knew that her puppies were perfectly safe with their father (and perhaps moreso than they were with her, for she still desperately feared that she would snap and become just like her mother), Princess was far from content to be away from them for so long. The three puppies she had brought into the world with her loving mate were the main reason she was in the library now, as she had not had any direction in pack duties until they had been born and she had realized that becoming a mantes, or teller of stories, might suit her well. She wanted only the best for Linden, Robin, and Felicity in their lives and she wanted to be able to tell them great stories. Princess knew she would practice stories on her puppies.

"I think this is a good start, thanks," she said, feeling the weight of the books in the bag against her side and straining on her shoulder. She had always been very small and delicately framed, and she had never gone out of her way to build up strength or muscle mass, but as a new mother, she was more tired than ever and she did not want to wear herself out more than she already had before returning to Cour des Miracles. Haven would likely be unhappy with her if she overexerted herself, and she also did not want to be too tired on the walk back, as she was still nervous about possibly running into a stranger with ill intentions.

Her thoughts were once again on the three small lives that she loved so dearly, and golden eyes looked up to J'Adore curiously. He had spoken of his job in AniWaya when she had asked but he had not spoken of his family, but then, neither had she up until this point. "Do you have family in AniWaya or in the area?"

J'adore let another smiled ripple across his face, You welcome'.

When the female spoke of his family J'adore shook his head, 'Not in AniWaya no, well not technically. There is a pup there called Ayasha, she spend so much time in my company I have started to regard her as a relative. I have a future mate in Cercatori D'arte and an adopted son also'. His throat closed up and he felt himself begging not to utter the next thing he was straining to say, he did though with a sorrowful smile and dull white eyes, 'My daughter however, is floating on the wind'. He spoke in riddles what he found hard to say, if asked to he wold explain but this way it was easier for him to without his eyes tearing up.

His attention turned to his other family, his parents and past pack mates. 'My parents however live in Spain, well last time I saw them. They may have moved to where I grew up'. His parents had always been wavering between the two. It was most probably it was either in France, Italy or Spain they now resided. But any of those three destionations were a world away.

Unlike some, he did not seem to be all that reluctant to talk about his family. Until recently, when she had finally brought her own family into the world with Haven, the young Lady Chance had been one of those that did not particularly want to talk about her family. What was there to say? She had a father that she had never met, a wretched mother that was a pup-killer, a brother that had abandoned her out of fear, and siblings that had died as infants at the jaws of their awful mother. There had not been much to say about her family until she had begun her own with Haven. The family of her past did not matter now.

She could hear the implications in his voice about the daughter he had lost in the wind and Princess chose not to ask about it in the interest fo being polite. J'Adore did not seem to want to say more on the matter and she did not wish to pry for more information. Though she was usually very nosy, she could not ask about this, especially now that she had children of her own. If she were to lose one of them, she certainly would not want to talk about it with a complete stranger. Instead, Princess focused on something else had had said.

The future mate and the adopted son in another pack was interesting to her, particularly because of the history of her relationship with Haven. "Are you moving to her pack to be with her? Why haven't you yet? I moved to Cours des Miracles to be with my mate. It was a hard decision, because I really liked my pack, but I'm happy I did it," she explained. It had been an incredibly difficult choice to make and she had feared that they would never be together, but she had never once regretted the move.

OOC here!

J'adore didn't mind Princess' questions. She was merely curious and that was no crime. J'adore wasn't a secritive man, he was open and honest because that was the best way to be. 'She's coming over to AniWaya soon, I think. I don't know when though, I don't care she can take her time, it's choice' J'adore's eyes turned to the floor and back up again, he shook his head lightly and sighed, 'I won't push her'.

J'adore frowned, 'I hold a generous position in AniWaya, I did not want to loose it'. The Spaniard had only realised how selfish he sounded after the words fell from his maw. Covering it up he added, 'It seems selfish but...' he shrugged, it was selfish full stop, but the fact was Valinta had not progressed any higher in her pack since their encounter, yet J'adore had. He did not want to loose it. It would be too difficult form him to do. He had joined the tribe skeptical of their ways, but seeking a calm pack. As he stayed there longer he became more entwined with their ways and religion. He had to stay their for various reasons.

'Sometimes I consider going back to Spain but again for the same reasons I never do'. His muse was laced with sorrow and remorse, with his face still held a soft smiled.

Princess had left both of her previously for what could be considered selfish and selfless reasons, both at the same time. She had left Dahlia de Mai with no regard for whether or not she could have been happy in that pack, simply to be with her brother. It had been selfless in that, because she had only wanted to make him happy, but it was selfish as well. She had not said goodbye to her mother (though she had hardly deserved such a courtesy) and she had done it so that she could be happy with her brother, selfish acts indeed. Leaving Crimson Dreams had been much more difficult, but she did not think it had been selfish, as she had said good bye to both of her leaders and she had done it so that her lover would not have to make such a difficult decision. He had not asked her to do it, but she was willing to do it so that they could be together. She would not change it.

Perhaps it was selfish of J’Adore to not want to join his future mate’s pack, but Princess could understand his reasoning. It seemed sad, though, because his future mate had not yet joined him. If he had not specified that she would be at some point, Princess would have felt saddened for him in that she would worry about whether or not his future mate actually wanted to leave her pack. “Sometimes being selfish is okay,” she said. It would have been hypocritical of her not to think so, as she had once been extremely selfish and focused entirely upon herself. Things had changed, and so much for the better for herself and her mate and family, but she could not deny how she had once been.

She leaned against the shelves of books, thinking of her own past. There was nowhere that she would rather be than in Cour des Miracles with her mate and their three beautiful children. She did not miss any of her past homes before Crimson Dreams, and she did not miss anyone all that much, though she would admit to missing her brother some. What would it be like, to miss a place so much to want to return to it and give up everything one had? Spain must have been a nice place, though she had not been there. She was not well-versed in geography and she did not travel much, and never had. “What do you miss most about Spain?”

This table is for J'adore Austral! Big Grin

'So much' J'adore said, with a slow, half sad smile, 'The sand, the sea, my family of course...'. There were so many things he wanted to see again. Not just in Santander, but in the whole country. But out of everything he had seen throughout Europe the only thing he wanted to see was the main port in Santander. It was a large, bustling port, however it was nothing compared to the business of Lisbon. He prefered the aura of the smaller ports however. Lisbon had been just too noise ridden.

'I miss a lot of things... But I have too much here to just let go, it would cause to much hassle to just suddenly cut the ties I have made here' J'adore added, a more happier smile creeping onto his maw. He lifted his hand up to the shelf and let his fingers draw across the spines of the books. He considered picking up a few more, but then decided against it, as it would probably be smarter to clean up his cabin before he did.

J'adore's white eyes gazed longingly at the thousands of spines that littered the shelves. No he would not take any more. He needed to set himself boundries, at least until he managed to put the books he had read. His gazed turned back to the female, realising he had been drifting away for his company.
