No closer than a stranger

Whatever whiteout overtook the outlying lonely countryside, the Italian was pleased to have fallen short of arriving at the same time the cold front did. Abundant shrouds of snow covered the Earth for traveled miles upon end, although the frequency of packed snow and ice increased the closer the vagabond approached the end of the upland. It was the type of snow where one could easily slip into delightful powder, the kind you could ball up and harmlessly toss at a mock assailant without suffering dangerous retaliation from a snowball brigade. It was that type of almost frolicsome snow to delight in, only until when the soles and pads were met with biting, hardened frost beneath the little powder there was. For as much powder and frost the lands were iced in, the Italian knew these areas didn't enjoy their moderate winter festivities this season.

The packed powder and ice was a downtempo for his pace, regardless that he didn't have any particular destination to reach in a hurry. While venturing on two legs made him grow weary from time to time, the heaviness of having to tug his half-paws, half-feet from the snow was beginning to oppress his endurance slightly. It was much better than having to clamber with four through the dipping hills of snow, but regardless he was stopped by thought-provoking structures of ruins that littered the wilderness. Skeletons of wooden foundations in perfect angles (from what wasn't covered in snow), one establishment withered and rusted, and several miscellaneous items of no importance eroded and prodding out from the ice. If there was any place in the world forgotten in time, this was the place, barren and cold.

Inquisitiveness struck, not of the history (as if it was accessible to know anyway) of reflecting upon foraging objects for any of use to him. It was the least that could be done, considering how these lands were immediately deemed as of no real interest or application. The lands marked to the south were strictly of ambiguity, undisclosed of the skull lined borders of coyote territory or the pack preaching and practicing the likes of dark magic, of voodoo. All in due time, as his concern was more for scavenging hard metal and tool-like objects in the ice, and scoping out the area in general. Wayfaring could be put on the back burner for now, since remotely any extinct human structures were at least some significant worth to inspect. To burrow into the snow sapped his tenacity even more in spite of letting alone to meddle through it, but Ettore Russo learned true diamonds were sought out in the rough.

ooc- -swoops!-

The snow in this area did not receive any sort of joy from Tsrmono. Even if he had the ability to feel any sort of emotions, he would have disdain towards the normally cheery white material. Having shorter fur meant he was not as built for this weather as wolves or coyotes from this area would. So, Tsrmono simply trudged through the rather frigid landscape with an emotionless face, just trying to pass through.

However, Tsrmono did not expect to find any being out here. It was simply a wolf though, brown and plain in coloration it seemed. Just as bland as the wolf was, and more so to another extent, Tsrmono approached the wolf. His only source of color on his body, the crimson streaks under his eyes, stuck out brilliantly from the rest of his fur. He stood for a second, dwarfed in size by the other canine. "Wolf," his monotone voice sounded, hollow in depth. He said nothing else. It was actually a call of acknowledgment, although anybody else probably couldn't tell since his voice was so devoid of emotion.

Thank you for taking interest, Titmouse. Big Grin

The industrial strength of any Luperci's human like hands couldn't elude the desensitization the ice had upon the digits, as clawed tips quickly grew numb. Scratching away meticulously at a specific area of ground where there was something of a metal like rod protruding from the snow, it didn't appear like an object of significant use or value. Another piece of scrap garbage, often encountered numerous times throughout his travel, forgotten in the past. For the Italian's fortune, such little matters wouldn't pay any attention, for agouti ears perked at the sudden salute to his species coming from behind. While the Italian was previously crouched down, he stood up swiftly, and turned.

Before him (or below him, as he expected to see someone to his height, but narrowed his amber gaze downward) was a figure cloaked in complete black, with varying shades of darker gray evident in the afternoon sun. Even the depths of the Luperci's eyes were a void of black, a surprisingly and cryptic trait to behold, in which the blackened depths melded right into the hue of his coat as if there were no eyes at all. Lines of crimson tear stains trailed down to his cheekbones, and the authenticity of such markings was questioned by Ettore. They certainly didn't manifest into a pattern anyone would be born with. What a strange little creature, while the physique of him looked coyote, he certainly had to be something else otherwise.

Moments of silence passed, before Ettore would have to return the gesture of acknowledging. While there were few jackals encountered in his travels, it was not enough to be confident in identifying this one as a pure jackal. "Not coyote…" Ettore finally responded, his Italian accent thick in the two words alone. Seconds of additional fleeting silence passed, hazel amber eyes falling beyond the tips of the black Luperci's unusually large ears. No other similar beings were around, and his eyes along with fascination drew themselves back upon the small creature-like Luperci. "Do you know what they call these parts?" Ettore questioned then, taking it as a shot in the dark to interrogate.

ooc- of course! But, Tsrmono isn't a Luperci? XD Unless it's just Ettore mistaking him for one, in which case, by all means ignore me >>

It took a moment for the wolf to turn and recognize it wasn't alone, looking down after expecting someone of his own height. No matter. Tsrmono just stood his ground, despite the height difference that was ever so constant. He waited for the male to take in his appearance, as most had to do before talking to him. Tsrmono could admit, he was certainly a sight for sore eyes. For someone so small and so innocent seeming to look so creepy... well it was how he was. Tsrmono saw no need for it to be changed. He didn't care much for his appearance as most did.

Once the wolf spoke, Tsrmono could recognize the accent and pinpoint it's origin immediately. He had acknowledged Tsrmono's ethnicity being non-coyote, although he never said anything about it being jackal. A good enough start, it seems. "The entity before us is of Italian origin, is it not?" He stated monotonously, although he already knew the answer.

Then the wolf asked him about the surrounding area. Tsrmono's head swiveled ever so slowly on his neck, scanning the area as if he was a computer. After a moment, he turned back slowly to the wolf, his expression never changing the entire time. "This entity has no sufficient information or commentary on this region." With that, he simply stood there, waiting for the Italian wolf's next words.

Ette is a confused whether Tsrmono is something of a Luperci-like creature or not. Foreigners. XP

Suddenly astonished at how the creature before him was able to pinpoint his heritage just by sensing his accent alone, the Italian was fascinated to know if Italian was familiar in these lands. The typical enlightenment of bewilderment passed over his agouti features, his fiery amber eyes widening slightly like a young boy discovering a mysterious reality for the first time. " … Yes, how do you know this?" For all one knows, Ettore's response could further lead the conversation into revealing what Italian heritage was around these parts - or as Ettore hoped this would be the case. With the dark little creature not acknowledging nor correcting what he was, Ettore was left to simply marvel at this species before him. Luperci were commonplace for werewolves and bipedal creatures of course, but then again… the size factor and the way he was colored threw him off entirely. "Tell me… and, I don't mean to be inconsiderate, but… what are you exactly?" Jackal could be the only possibility (and had been vaguely in the back of his mind), but the truth wasn't revealed until the dark creature spoke for itself.

The creature gave something of a robotic like glance around the ruins of the Amish village, not wearing any such expression of interest, admiration, or distaste. Disappointed to hear the entity (as he referred to himself as) didn't know any ample knowledge about the surrounding area, there was a soft comprehensible sounding sigh to blow through his nose. Not in dispiritedness directly to the entity, but in the knowing there was miles to travel yet before reaching a destination where the location of the area was commonplace among the locals. Ettore jumped to the conclusion the dark entity might have been a vagabond like himself. "Hmn. Unfortunate. Name is Ettore Russo, where are you traveling from?" Ettore went the length to introduce himself, figuring it wouldn't hurt to install some form of friendly mutual establishment in conversation.
