To fix whats not broken.

Since she had come to realize that these creatures known as horses would not eat her the first chance they were given the girl had taken her time in exploring the stables and fields. Still wise to keep her paws far from the horses larger hooves. She had quickly grown viewed in watching the horses forage and laze about the field this day, so she had taken to exploring the haystacks inside the barn. The sound of mice looking for seed made her realize she was hungry too.

She wasn't certain how in the world she was going to catch a mouse but she had watched the rat catching cats on ship win their supper enough to know it was possible. She had couched down low, trying to blend with the dappled surface from the sun streaming in when she caught sight of the small twitch of a nose and two button eyes appear in the hay. she held her breath as she waited for the perfect moment of attack.

The rhythmic sound of the brush streaming down the hair was mesmerizing. Small clouds of dust broke off into the air when the bristles reached an end of the body and flicked out slightly. In the stall was warm and comfortably tight, with the lingering smell of hay and moisture. A shaft of afternoon light came in from the open door and flecks of dirt could be seen in the space. There was a common sense of relaxation settling over the barn that day.

She had gotten up early that morning to find that the temperature had risen considerably. Her mate was off before she got up, something the girl noticed, but refused to interpret it wrong. Even on the beach, where their conservative shack was built, the sand was warm and the breeze was refreshing. It was a nice change from the winter days that were still unforgotten because of the sparse snow drifts.

Ever had mounted her horse immediately and set off to the stable. The image of the horses trapped behind built up snow doors was still fresh in her mind although grass was showing. She had set the horses out as soon as she got there, noticing the fields were clear of frost and buds sprouting. Signs of spring called out everywhere.

As soon as her Page duties were finished, Ever took time on her own stallion by fixing him a spring cut feed and tending to his coat. She was almost finished when she heard someone out in the fields. Saphraine heard this too, straightening his ears and adjusting his dozing position. The girl turned to look out the stall door only to find an unfamiliar female crouching in the hay piles.

The silver hybrid almost laughed aloud, perplexed by the hunting position stationed in the barn. Mice were uncommon, and smart around so many wolves and horses in the same area, so most of the members who came in ignored them. It would be remarkable luck if the new member caught one.

Saphraine joined her out in the aisle, looking curiously at the wolf and then at his companion. She patted his white blazed forehead, admiring the way his silk of a mane dangled cords into his face.

I would not suggest hunting in here,

Ever said out loud, listening to the fluid tone of her voice ring down the stables.
