Loner at your border

Faith sniffed casually at a spot that had been clearly scented marked. By a female maybe two or three day ago. She.had found several other about 20 yard back, this one smelled the same except it was a female instead of a male and instinctivly she knew it was either a pack or they were mates.

She trotted a few spaces forward. I wonder if Drake or Venus belong to this pack? No there probably still in the mountains...why am I so worried? Drake will take care of Venus... She snapped out of her train of thought as she heard a twig snap to the left of her. She tensed up ready to attack but relaxed when she saw a robin fly out of a underbush. She shook her head. Chill Faith, stop being jumpy you lost them back at the river crossing she thought trying to convince herself.

Pacing forward breaking into a slight open easy stride, she leaped over a ditch and head for the sound of rushing water as the scent of several wolves old scent marks whiffed through her nostrils. She broke into sudden stop as she heard a sharp long howl about southeast from her maybe 5 yard away, it belong to a wolf most likely from the pack territory she was in. Hestitant now she stood frozen in place waiting to see if another wolf would answer the call. After a couple of minutes when the wolf didn't get a reply she relaxed and headed closer to the river side. Her throat dry and paws tired she was happy to have water near her but wasn't pleased to get wet when she slipped and her paws got soaked.

Closing her eyes and letting the rushing water calm her, she began to listen to the sounds around her.
