Time of date:Noon/ At the Halcyon Mountains/614 words

At this point Amy had gotten used to the black outs; times where she had no memory of where she had been or what she had done. It should have concerned her but it was not like there was some person versed in the ways of medicine to help her. For Amaterasu it had been eight days since her time with Leon; and she was really wishing that she had not left the AniWaya border. The morning after it had felt strange leaving but she knew it just had been a one-night stand. Of course Amy would never know of this happening; and that was perhaps for the best given how she had never been with a man before. One day she would return because there had just been something about that male. Amy was not sure how her satchel had been filled with food again; and she really had no idea where she was going in the first place. Deep in her subconscious Amaterasu wished she had gotten a map; directions were not her strong suit after all. Walking was just something she was used too and her figure really showed it; not like she was vain or something but it was what got her all the guys.

She yawned a little bit as she stretched her arms over her head; she knew that it was really time for her to stop and rest. She had not really been paying attention to where she was going; but it was then she started to take notice of her ever-changing environment. She felt soft grass underneath her paws and she really enjoyed the feeling; it certainly made walking easier on her. She had hit an incline and looking around she could not help but notice that she had hit some sort of mountain range; she was amazed that she had not noticed it before. The slope had made walking a little tougher but she was so used to walking long distances that she barely knew the difference with walking up hill. Granted her satchel and tent started to feel a little heavy on her back and then she felt her stomach starting to growl at her. She rubbed her furry stomach and sighed as she figured that it was time for to take a break and just relax a little bit. She shrugged off her tent first and let it sit on the grass; this was as good a place as any for a meal.

She had no clue what time it was; but given the general location of the sun it was most likely around noon. Sitting her rump on a log, making sure that her skirt settled down right she took off her leather satchel and placed it on her lap. Opening it up she pulled out a wrapped up piece of raw meat; she was starved and so she tore into it. She might have looked a little savage with little scraps of meat flying around but she did not really care at the moment. With that consumed she felt much better now that her stomach was full; giving her the energy to keep going for the rest of the day. Sighing contently she closed her satchel and just relaxed; she was really ready for a nice nap. She remembered whenever her mother fed her she would fall asleep shortly after; those memories were all she had of her mother. She felt a strong pang in her heart as she tried not to get too upset and start breaking down again. Amaterasu was ready to take over just in case; since protecting Amy was the reason she existed in the first place.

The original intention of his trip was to check in with Anathema over by the mountain; despite they being one of the Valley's closest neighbors, the brute had never gotten the chance to speak with its members for himself. On the other hand, there had not been much desire to — he was aware it was led by Naniko, who had both spent some time in the Valley with her children and had never gotten along well with the one-eyed, one-armed leader. The cyclops did not intend to make nice, nor apologize for whatever had gone wrong then; he wanted only to make it known to Naniko that their own personal issues with each other should have no reflection on their packs, nor should their packs' interactions be based on that once-sour relationship between leaders. Would Naniko hear him out? The Patriarch did not rightly care. The Valley would be defended well either way.

With dragging steps and rambling, troubled thoughts he progressed toward Halcyon, keen as always to his surroundings. Lucifer was out there, he was aware, and at the first sign of one another either party would go berserk. The dark-furred idiot had lurked Valley land and borders far too long; there was no reason Jefferson might not stumble over him in his trip towards Anathema, as he wished he would — but it was to no avail. Not only did the Patriarch not find the dark-furred male, but stumbled upon a figure of the opposite color and apparent demeanor. Had he not sensed an anxiety about her, the scarred male would have simply moved on without a word, but responsible as he was always for the status of those around him, Jefferson halted near the woman and her picnic and spoke.

"These parts aren't safe," he said blatantly, a flatness in his tone, "for more than one reason. You'd best take your picnic elsewhere."

Amy was not aware of the territorial issues and all that sort of politics, she was a loner and it was really not her concern. She was just there to enjoy her lunch and she had, given how she had just ravished that raw piece of meat that had been sitting on her lap only a few moments ago. She was taking the time to look around and she had to admit she really liked the view, all the beautiful mountains that she just wanted to explore given how she had all the free time in the world. Part of her was expecting some sort of trouble, and this was the main reason she really needed a map of the area. If she had her own pack, she would be free to wander the territory with no fear of being attacked or kidnapped. She shifted a little on the log; it was tugging at her skirt and started to ride up on her. Annoyed she sat up and tugged it down and part of her wanted to go ahead and leave; trouble just seemed to be drawn to her. Amaterasu was the one really on guard at the moment; given what had happened she had every right to be.

It was then she noticed a male was approaching her; obviously she started to get scared given what had happened to her in the past. It was clear he was not very friendly given the way he presented himself; not to mention all the scars he had spaced out around his body. There was a very noticeable flatness to his tone and it was clear he was not in the best of moods. So many questions were raised and she did not even know where to start. She just sort of looked at him at a moment; it was clear that he had seen plenty of fighting in his life. She had no idea where to start so she just stood up and started to pack her things up. It could have been a trap for all she knew; but if he was advising her to leave then it was probably for the best to get out of here. “Oh. Okay.” was all that she could say right now. Her satchel was closed up and her tent was ready to be carried again; having no clue where she could even go right now. “I do not really know my way around here, is there any place you suggest?” she asked softly as she casually looked at him.

Sorry, I lost the link to the thread. XD

She lay foreigner eyes upon him, shifting quickly to the gaze of an innocent; she, like so many others, could clearly not wrap her mind around the stories in his scars or the numbers of his wounds, nor how he had endured so long to hobble around despite them. The man felt her eyes wash over him like iced water, as if made tangible by her shock, and yet Jefferson showed no difference in expression. She answered him politely, her voice as innocent as her gaze, but like her eyes hid something within he could faintly recognize yet not identify.

If nothing else, at least he had somewhat identified himself as a non-threatening stranger, despite what his monstrous appearance might say otherwise. The cyclops flicked a thumb over his shoulder and shrugged. "Phoenix Valley's that way. I smell AniWaya on you, so you're safe to stay there until you can make the trip home. My members shouldn't argue, but if they do, tell them Jefferson said to shut up and be nice."

He snorted, spit into the grass and drifted his gaze into the distance. "You're close to Anathema here, and from what I hear they're not the friendliest of people, not to mention Lucifer's been creeping back and forth between there and the Valley. You'll run into him if you're not careful — black fur, blue eyes, incessant erection, y'know — and I'd rather Dawali not get tangled up in that idiot's issues after he just finished healing."

This guy really scared Amy and it was just not because of the number of scars or wounds he had all around his body. She had her own scars that she knew would never heal; she was not the one to judge a person on their past. She did her best not to let her obvious fear show but her eyes were really expressive and it could not be helped. Amaterasu was just waiting for her time just in case things turned sour with this guy. Amy however was dead set on being as polite as she could be; there was an aura of power that she got from him. All she wanted was to have a nice picnic and not worry about anything for once. Clearly it was not her day since this was going to get worse before it got better. Then he started to talk again and she listened intently; she could just tell that when he spoke it was only because it was important. She just stood there and watched as he pointed in the general direction behind him. For not knowing she figured that the direction behind her was some serious trouble. Amaterasu wanted to know how much trouble it was; but she always knew that it would not be safe for Amy.

She looked behind him and nodded since she had no idea where any of the territories were other than AniWaya. When he mentioned making it home her heart sunk and she looked down to the ground again. Amaterasu sighed to herself in her head at that word; they had no home so there was no place where they would be safe. “Oh thank you sir, but I do not have a home” she said softly as felt herself nearly on the verge of tears again. But she sucked it up and looked at him again; already figuring he would not be a sympathetic shoulder to cry on. Amy just sighed to herself and figured that it was time to head back. If this guy said that Anathema was trouble then she believed him without question. Whoever this Lucifer guy was he reminded her of the wolves that had attacked her family. At the very least she had learned his name and now knew that he had his own pack; which sort of her helped explain all the scars and wounds. Despite all that it was probably best to head back the way he directed her. Just another reminder that she was alone in this world; and Amaterasu actually felt the same this time. Just a series of one night stands was not enough to make her happy; even if Leon had been very good to her.

The male watched her strangely, a glint in his eye as he analyzed her every move, every shift, every breath. Jefferson was by no means a psychic and possessed no supernatural powers whatsoever — he had seen true tragedy in many eyes, many of such emotions on his own behalf for the things he had done and inflicted on them. He knew what sadness looked like, he knew how pain could be hidden and suppressed. That he had experienced himself, just as much as he had seen it on others. Perhaps it was a strange sense of empathy on him, but if so, it was surely misguided.

The one-eyed brute did not comment on her homelessness. He had made it obvious that Phoenix Valley was a haven, and if she chose to go there for sanctuary, then so be it. Jefferson would not deny he smelled AniWaya on her, but perhaps she had only neared the territory rather than called herself a member of it. Regardless of such things, there were clearly bigger issues at hand, something she would not share, and something he was not sure he truly cared too much about in a total stranger.

"I only offered because you look so goddamn paranoid," he mumbled, partially to himself. He straightened himself up as if to leave; clearly he was frightening her more than helping either way. "I'll just get out of your hair then, so you can start breathing again."
