Yes our teeth and ambitions are bared

He was far from the lands of Shadowed Sun. Here the air was fouler, and great clouds loomed overhead. There had been rain earlier and although the air had cleaned somewhat, Lubomir knew there would be more to come. He was running on his back legs, his form skinnier than it used to be. This way he could cover more ground, but when the foul-smelling air his his nostrils, he staggered and shifted back to all fours. He shook his head wearily. What was this place?

Lubomir carefully padded forward. How anyone could live here was beyond him. There was an underlying mark here, perhaps a lingering taste of territory? He couldn't tell. Unbeknownst to him, he'd just stepped on Inferni land.

indent The wind was coming from the west. It brought the smell of the ocean, the smell of storms, and whipped Gabriel’s fur as he sat high above the lands like some ancient gargoyle. The hybrid was completely still, golden eyes trailing the borders. Movement caught his attention, above the tall grass’ motion. A wolf. A strange wolf who had just made a mistake Gabriel would hold him to. Without a sound he rose and leapt from the stone, the grass hiding his body as he moved down into the plain. It was nearly to his shoulder.
indent His head low, the hybrid moved like a snake, cutting a path towards the unwelcome stranger. The slope of the hill increased his momentum and he cut up onto one of the larger stones (for in this amount of time, the stranger had moved deeper into his land) and bolted up the rock. With a snarl, the hybrid leapt from the top, teeth flashing. His aim was to use his weight to crush the wolf and his teeth were bared for the back of the neck.

By the time he heard the noise, his guard was down and he was expecting nothing. Lubomir's ears picked up the noise, a light padding at first, then louder and the snarl was what finally made him look up. Things followed in quick succession: his feet skidded; his eyes widened in fear; his breath caught in his throat; his heart thumped in his chest. Lubomir's mind jumped back to the attack and he found himself paralysed. He became terrified, staring death literally in the snout. And then something snapped in him. His mind closed down and he reacted like he had with the Dawn Valley attack: like an animal.

Lubomir let his back legs skid and his front ones gripped at the ground. He snarled. His fur bristled. He was a scrawny pathetic thing compared to Gabriel, but now was certainly no time to be eloquent and polite. To the animal side of Lubomir, the promise of blood was too good to pass up. It was certainly no side that Lubomir was consciously aware of, but it could certainly be...well, fun.

You didn't mention if Gabriel hit or not, so I used some slight powerplay--how badly that wound turns out to be is your call. :]

indent The blow connected but the stranger moved, and Gabriel’s grip was lost. His momentum carried him beyond the stranger, but he had prepared for this and quickly came around again. It had not been long since he had tasted blood, and it aggravated a proud sense of his being that even with a fresh carcass on the edge of their land. That wolf had suffered and died alone. He didn’t look quite unlike this stranger, but most wolves looked alike. Gabriel lowered his head, circling the stranger.
indent He rushed forward again, looking as if he might strike towards the throat. All too quickly, though, he jerked towards the hindquarters. If the stranger couldn’t run, if he couldn’t stand, he would break him. In the end, that was really his goal.

OOC: GAH! Sorry about the long wait >_< Also, I'll let you decide if Gabriel dodges and if his next blow connects (I doubt Lubomir stands a chance to bite Gabriel and we'll see how much thrashing he can take before he needs to run off)

Pain. It was the first thing that registered. The other wolf had hit. He could feel alien teeth sinking into his fur, piercing his skin, and he yowled in pain. A red mist seemed to come down over his vision and the rational, the calm, the peaceful Lubomir gave way and retreated to fully unleash this angry side. The one that loved the fight, the rush of adrenaline and the taste of blood.

He could not give in. That much was certain. The other was stronger, more cunning and lot more prepared in battle. But Lubomir had a mindless, survival-driven need now. He narrowly dodged the attack on his back, and turned to attack. Not entirely skilled, he could still go for the side. And that's where his teeth were heading to now.

indent It had been nearly three years of harsh training that had brought Gabriel to being. Kaena, in those early months, then a surrogate with the fear of God in her heart, the war with Clouded Tears, the war in the southwest, Areyms, and soon more. The fire he had begun would consume them all, and he aimed to see that happen. The wolves were a plague and they threatened the well-being of his clan. He hated them for what they represented, because even this hate was not blind—Fatin was one of the few he would call council with. She had earned that right.
indent The wolf swung out of the way, and his head came towards Gabriel’s side. Slamming his front legs into the ground, Gabriel pivoted, avoided the teeth, and his hind legs kicked off like pistons. He rushed forward, towards the stranger’s chest, aiming now to throw him down with his shoulder. Like a viper, as soon as he was close enough, his head shot out towards the throat.

OOC: Slight powerplay of blow connecting. Up to you if he bites throat or just chest. Let's draw proper blood! XDD

He was thrown by that move. Lacking Lubomir's rationality, this animal could only dodge and weave in order to protect his neck. Lacking training, the stamina brought on by adrenaline and sheer brutal madness would soon wear off. Simply put, Lubomir would either have to seriously hurt Gabriel or be seriously hurt himself. How hurt, it was difficult to say. Had Lubomir been able to ascertain the policies of Inferni, he wouldn't have approved. Not that this mattered now. All that mattered was saving his own skin.

The next blow connected. Lubomir felt it reverberate in his whole body. His paws skidded and he felt the impact of the ground. Stones dug into his skin and the world spun for a while. Time seemed to stretch and then shrink. There was more pain. Lubomir faced the wolf and tried to push himself back up again. He needed his own blows to connect, he could feel the energy being sapped out of his body. He wouldn't last much longer.

indent The stranger had moved a quarter of an inch, but it was enough to save his life. Gabriel’s teeth sunk deep into flesh, aiming to reach the throat, not the soft area between this weak point and the chest. He kept his jaws tight, wanting to choke the wolf into submission, but knew in the end this was ultimately futile. The connecting point was not the throat and this would not do the job. Then all too suddenly the stranger, in a fit of madness, whipped his head towards Gabriel’s own. Startled, the hybrid let go, felt teeth graze his nose and there was a buzzing, flaming pain in his head. Shaking his head wildly and unable to smell anything but his own blood, Gabriel didn’t notice the stranger scramble to his feet and begin to run.
indent It was not until several moments later he came to his senses and saw the wolf vanishing into the forest. Gabriel pursued, but only a few yards past the border. He stood there, furious, blood pooling on his muzzle, before he finally turned and headed back into the clan territory.
