OOC: Ok, so here Tawny is leaving her den near Beast's Grin Peninsula between AniWaya and Cercatori D'arte. Here is where she is, approximately, on the first day/night of travel: http://i51.tinypic.com/2mq511k.jpg

The rain was pouring down hard, beating into the trees and creating little waterfalls towards the soft ground, soaking it further and causing new streams to form along the dips and valleys of the rock formation covering half of Tawny’s den. The young female was curled up in the small hole, shaking and shivering, her entire body drenched and dripping. There was no shelter from this horrid freezing downpour, the dirt and wooden roof, partially covered by the rocks, was starting to split and cave in under the melting weight of the water. There was no escaping it, nowhere for her to go in this lonely forest.

After sitting there, freezing her skinny little ass off for over an hour, the roof finally collapsed onto her head, the mud breaking apart easily and sliding off onto the ground. She stood up and shook herself, the dirt and debris from the cave in flying in all directions. Once her fur was mostly cleared of the bigger clumps, she had to sit there and concentrate rather hard for a few minutes to get her body to shift into its two legged form. The only times she took this shape was when she needed to build or to climb something. This time it was to collect her few belongings into the tiny, super thin rabbit skin satchel she had taken from her mother years and years ago.

Stuffing her collected items into the little pouch, she had to count to make sure everything was there. Three blue-jay bird feathers, two silver coins she’d found while travelling through Canada, a long gold chain with a broken clasp, a few pretty crystal rocks, and finally the beads discovered in an abandoned den in New Brunswick. Everything was present and accounted for, all tucked safely away and then wrapped around her neck. When that was taken care of, she let her body fall back onto all fours, the bones and flesh melding together to change shape with no pain at all. Without even once little glance back at her home of two weeks, she walked out and trotted off through the rain and into the dense forest.

About three hours later the raining had slowed to a drizzle that didn’t reach the forest floor, the water settling on the leaves above and collecting there. Tawny was still walking, her cold body starting to grow tired of all the constant moving. Her last meal had not been recent, so protein and energy was seriously running low. She literally had nothing left to spare. Exhausted, she lay down right out in the open and stretched out, panting heavily and lapping her tongue into a small puddle of fresh rain water near her paws. It was delicious, the best thing she’d ever tasted as it rolled from her pink tongue and down her parched throat slowly, quenching that painful thirst that hit when she tried to focus on something other than the hunger cramps coiling in her belly.

She had a hard time picking herself up off the ground, but the need for food and shelter was more important than her exhaustion at the moment. Groaning, the young wolf rolled to her paws and stood shakily, looking around and taking in the forest all around her. The scents and sounds were different from where her den had been. There, the smell of the ocean and occasional cry of a seagull was common; this place was so different, smelling of only fresh dirt and abundant wildlife. It was obvious that in the three hours she’d been travelling, a lot of ground was covered. As she began to walk around, it became obvious that a shelter would be hard to find in this place. There were no rocks in sight and the only water was from all of the puddles littering the ground.

There was also not much of a chance of finding anything to eat. The territory was new and she had no idea what kind of game would be out and about in the aftermath of such a strong storm. As she walked around, her paws silent on the ground even though she was exhausted and trudging, her luck showed itself again in the form of a fat red squirrel running right in front of her. Blanching a bit, the little female froze for a few seconds before realizing what just happened and pouncing forward, her paws smashing onto the tiny creature’s body. Teeth closing around its head and throat, she bit down, causing a satisfying ‘crunch’ and then her mouth was filled with the taste of hot blood and meat as the thumping heart pounded its last beat. The small meal was devoured in less than a minute, fur and bones and everything going down her throat. It would only fill her belly for a little while, but hopefully the protein would allow her to travel more the next day.

At the moment though, she really needed some sleep. While looking for food and shelter she had wandered about another two or three miles, but the scenery was still the same; solid wall of trees and squishy mud beneath her feet. Finally growing tired of walking around and searching, Tawny curled up with her body tucked up against a pile of fallen logs, one of them creating a sort of overhang and keeping the water from the leaves above from hitting her body. Sleep broke through her mind and pulled her below within seconds, rendering her pretty much helpless to the outside world.
