Well, this was a different sight. The cynical, antisocial wolf was joining a pack. Never in her life had she ever dreamed of joining a pack; the closest thing to a pack that she had ever been in was a group of stowaways on a ship she had boarded, and that was quite a while ago already. Even back then she hadn't gotten along well, usually being the one to unintentionally start scuffles.

Maybe this time around she could manage to get along somewhat well with her future companions. Noire Nishant knew that she needed a place to stay during her relentless search for her sister, and after hearing about the pack in the mountains she decided that Anathema was the place for her. The mere fact that they were superstitious was nearly enough to convince the dark-colored female that she was coming to the right place. She wasn't sure how she'd fare as far as living a life inside caves, but she'd manage. Her eyes would adjust after a while, just like they did when she'd hide in the cargo of vessels before someone eventually found her.

Once she had first caught sight of the mountains from a distance early one morning a few days ago, Noire planned to get there by nightfall, set up camp and rest, and after spearing a rabbit or two she'd look for the caves where Anathema lived. Unfortunately, like most of the things in her life, things didn't go according to plan.

She hadn't managed to reach Halcyon by sunset; it took a few days for her to reach the bottom, especially since trees just so happened to block her vision when she needed to look up and make sure she was heading in the right direction. Then Noire was faced with the issue of finding an entrance, which took what felt like an eternity even after she tried relying mostly on scent. By the time she found a good tunnel that smelled strongly of a pack, she didn't feel like heading back and trying to remember the various twists and turns she had taken during her search. She had left her jacket, notebook, and pen behind somewhere in the forest, but again she felt no need to return and instead decided she'd head back later. At least she had remembered to wear her belt.

After finally arriving, Noire stared into the darkness for a few minutes, trying to relax and let the day's frustration leave her. The last thing she wanted was to be seen as tense when joining the pack. She didn't know any of the members and wasn't sure how welcoming the leader was. When she felt that she had calmed down considerably, she tilted her muzzle and let out a howl, trying not to sound too demanding but also wanting to be heard. The way the sound echoed through the tunnel fascinated her. This might not turn out too bad after all.

ooc: Yay Noire! Ok I hope I'm at least allowed to greet potential members. ^^; / Word Count: 515 (5 points)

Scorpius had spent most of his afternoon with his half brother and marking out areas of the inner cave work on his maps. It was getting later in the day and he had stopped back in his own cave to rest. He had set down his bag of supplies in his section of the cave, ready for now to just rest for the evening. His days had been filled with duty, so it would make sense for him to just rest. He was sure that once he showed this to his mother, she would be proud of him, though some other things were better left unsaid. He made sure to get rid of the lingering scent of Dahlia de Mai on him from his visit searching for Melee. He emitted a soft sigh as he laid down, ready for the whole night to just overcome him.

The black male paused as his ears moved up. He swore he heard the echoing of a howl within the inner workings of the caves. He quickly sat up and made his way out of his section. Perhaps it was Naniko calling all the members of the pack for something. He began to follow the noise, taking the map he made so that he knew where in the cave he was. He placed his mask back on his face as he tried to figure out where the howl was coming from. It sounded like it was coming from outside the cave system. Was there someone else trying to call the members of Anathema? He paced along, working his way through the caves, keeping his ears up, listening for any other howls. So far it seemed like there was only one howl. Perhaps this was then a loner or a wolf from another pack trying to call them. If that was the case, they were making a mistake.

Scorpius soon came to the exit and found the source of the howl. It was a dark brown she wolf with bright blue eyes. She looked like she was lighter brown along her body and darker around her face and legs. He paused for a moment as he checked around the scents she was around. He was sure she was actually inside the Anathema territory. The male gave the she wolf a small glare before crossing his arms. ”Wolf, you are trespassing into Anathema territory. What is it that you want from us?” It was obvious she wanted something, otherwise she wouldn’t howl out for someone to come. He took a moment then to smell the air. From what he could tell, she didn’t carry the scent of any nearby pack. Perhaps she was from one of the southern packs, or maybe she was a loner. He had to admit that she was pretty brave for a she wolf to come into the territory to find someone. She must not have had any manners. He was not a leader so he would not be able to punish her. Perhaps his mother would come by later and decide what to do.

Noire didn't have to wait long before she was confronted by a young black wolf who didn't look over a year old. He seemed to be in a neutral enough mood until he shot her a glare and crossed his arms. It took all of her willpower not to snap at him; she had to remind herself that this was his land and he had the right to be dominant, even if she was much older. She offered a formal nod before he spoke, informing her that she had managed to ignore the border and trespass, which made her stiffen for a moment. It would be foolish to double-check now, but she wasn't prepared to leave. Still, she had no idea how she could retort to the truth when she was clearly in the wrong; no amount of persuasion would be able to convince the male otherwise.

Instead she focused on keeping a submissive stance, allowing her instinct to take over as she forced herself to stay calm. One step closer to HER, one step closer.... She lowered her tail and tried not to stand as upright, taking a few steps back--not that it mattered, since she was still crossing the damned border, but as she couldn't roll over she figured she needed to do whatever else it took to avoid getting turned away, which meant she needed to be submissive as possible... without whining and begging for forgiveness, of course.

"My name is Noire Nishant," the female explained, not meeting the pup's red eyes. "I apologize for trespassing; I assure you it was a mistake. I have come to Anathema's lands to join your pack." She could only hope that, by stating her reason directly after an apology, it would temporarily take his mind off the fact that some wolves would send her off. Oddly enough, if the roles had been switched in this situation, sending the loner away would be Noire's choice of action, but because things were the way they were she still had a chance to get into this pack. She simply had to maintain her composure and not challenge the boy. Hopefully things wouldn't be easier said than done.

Scorpius didn’t mind helping out the leaders in dealing with joiners. In a way he felt it would be another way for him to impress his mother and show her he could handle greeting members and seeing if they would make good members for the pack. He was sure so long as he stayed on his mother’s good side he would be able to avoid her more easily when he was out on his own personal business. He felt a sense of pride wash over him as he turned his attention back to the loner who had wandered in. He wondered if her dark fur would be a reflection of her personality. The last thing they needed was more trouble in Anathema. He gently crossed his arms as he waited for her to speak.

It looked like she did know who to show respect to seeing as she was in pack lands and took a submissive position. Perhaps she wouldn’t be so bad, though his mother would be the final judge of that. The brown she wolf began to speak and stated that her name was Noire Nishant. Interesting name… He was a bit taken back by the fact that she would not look him in the eyes as she spoke. It would not help her in away way to not show him her full attention. It probably would have been better for her to, but he wasn’t going to say anything more for now. As he continued to listen, it looked like the she wolf wanted to join the pack. At the rate things were going, that was certain not to happen, though he wasn’t going to be the one to give the final verdict. He gave he a small nod as he then began to speak. ”You know you would have made a better impression on yourself if you had presented yourself outside the borders. Your chances may be slim now. I suggest the first thing you do, if you get accepted, is to make sure you know where the borders are.”

Scorpius paused for a moment to think of the other questions he would need to ask the loner before taking her to one of the leaders for acceptance. He then knew the next one. ”Well, I suppose if you were to get accepted, what kind of skills would you have to offer to us?” He swayed his tail back and forth as he waited for the brown she wolf to answer. He wasn’t all too sure about the current ranks of all the members in Anathema to this date. He didn’t know many of the members very well and those he did know was his mother, the leader, and some of the basic ranks. He emitted a soft sigh as he seemed to be a bit lost in his thoughts. He tried to keep some of his focus on the loner as he left his ears up to listen. He scratched his head gently as he closed his eyes, relaxing himself.
