Quote:He'd been complaining the entire way about her near-uncontrollable need to be clean. Inadvertently, it was a product of her environment, and age. To garner some sort of control of her yet-unmanageable life, she felt the need to control herself in any way possible. Personal hygiene was just one way to do so. Turning her orange gaze toward the darkening path that seemed to go on forever, Agony leaned away from her father, who was attempting to pick her up. Tired feet or not, she simply refused to be helped in any way. This was her walk to make, not his. Huffing lightly at him, she continued onward, plodding ahead with a fierce determination. She'd been told once by a now nameless, faceless individual, that she was an old soul, a reincarnation of someone wise; a leader. Somewhere along the line of her miserably short life it'd been taken to heart, and now she refused anyone telling her otherwise. Ravesque would be no different. Seeing sense wasn't an option.

Traveling from New Brunswick had taken far longer than she'd anticipated, yet she hadn't complained, not once. Leaving the cult that had killed her mother was important, to leave behind the destruction that she couldn't quite understand. Their reasoning was beyond her, she didn't have all the facts necessary to make an accurate assumption. She was apathetic. Further and further into the mountain they wound, following the scents that were gradually strengthening. Ultimately she was stopped by a tangible force, her father, and she obeyed. She felt it too, the need to wait. Where she couldn't, her father picked up, calling for a leader, someone to come speak to them. The dusty child waited eagerly for the following events to unfold, staring.
Quote:The wait was minimal, though it didn't really matter. Time was something she had in abundance, and she'd already figured out that patience was a virtue. Something to that effect anyway. Eying the large, lightly colored woman with apprehension as she approached, Agony wasn't quite sure what to make of her overall appearance. She looked almost feral, with those daggers at her side, but the warmth with which she received her father was helpful. Their hug lasted long enough to denote friendship, maybe something more. She couldn't tell. Either way, this woman probably wasn't a threat. She licked her charcoal lips nervously. Dealing with adults was easy so long as you were polite and didn't speak out of turn, but there was always a certain element of unknowing. Not knowing the absolute perfect thing to say, what they wanted to hear. Someday she would know all the right answers by heart, and use them. Her father was posed a question, of who's child she was.

In a moment of role-reversal, she nudged the man lightly with her nose, urging him to answer with honesty and haste. "Mine," Came the eventual answer, to which the dust colored child might have beamed if she had it in her. At times like this she almost felt like a sociopath, though she lacked the homicidal rage and capability to bring harm. Most children were excited to be acknowledged, to be claimed, right? Turning her eyes between the two for a moment, she wondered if the man would introduce her or not. It seemed unlikely, since she was always doing it for herself anyway. "I'm Agony," Had she known it was a word, she could have laughed. Not at the potential meaning, but because it almost fit. If she hadn't been so reluctant to feel that particular emotion. Agony; she didn't want it, couldn't stand it.

For now, Agony felt no need to tack on a surname. If her father knew this woman as well as he seemed to, she would know their last name, and that she would share it with him. "She has two siblings by Cinder; she was executed," Turning a blind eye to the following conversation, the apologies and condolences she expected to hear, the child realized she was tired of hearing the same thing over and over again. Moving on was impossible when everyone continued to apologize for things they had no control over. Abruptly, she felt the need to stress that point. "Don't say you're sorry," She eyed her father with anger; she hoped he didn't say anything to contradict her.
Quote:This woman was strange, admirable in a way, but strange nonetheless. Ravesque seemed to like her though, which meant, like everything else, she would be met with apathy instead of something darker. If she'd known about wicked step-mother's from fairy-tale's, she would have considered this one a member of their little team, but she didn't. Should that day arrive where she knew oft their existence, it would probably be too late, because it wouldn't matter. Scorpius was spoken of, a name she knew, but someone she couldn't say she'd actually met. Perhaps a while ago, when she was still deaf and blind to anything and everything. "I'm glad he's doing well," Came her father's response, and a flicker of resentment blossomed within Agony's bright orange eyes. He'd brought her with him, not one of the others, which (she thought) meant he preferred her. Obviously she was wrong. "You're a leader, a good one," Ravesque continued on, filling the lapses in conversation with his own. "And yes, I have a son and another daughter that should be arriving eventually,"

Inwardly grimacing at the tone this woman took with her, Agony fought to bite her tongue (literally and metaphorically) so as so keep from adding blemishes to today's initial meeting. Instead she nodded, though she severely disagreed. Maybe Naniko wouldn't feel sorry for her, but everyone else seemed to be. It was... Sad. Wolves she'd never met could feel things for her that she couldn't feel for someone she'd known her entire life, that shared her blood. It seemed redundant to apologize to the large, snow colored woman, but as she was going to, her father nudged her gently. No, now wasn't the time.

Speaking of snow, it seemed as if there had been some recent problems with the cold element. Thinking about being crushed in her sleep, crushed by dark and cold, seemed familiar. She liked it here, in the mountain. Thankfully her father agreed, because at Naniko's query as to whether they were seeking permanent shelter, he answered simply, "Yes, we are," And lifted his daughter to carry her with him after Anathema's leader.

Welcome to 'Souls!

Congratulations! You've been accepted into the craziest bunch of roleplayers on the vast Internet! We encourage you to keep checking out our information; you can find a wealth of it on the RP Guide. Don't feel pressured to read it all at once -- the guide is a huge resource and is meant to be used as a reference.

If You've Joined the Game As a...
  • ... Loner, do begin considering which of the packs you'd like to join. Survival as a Loner is less realistic -- wolves and other canines are generally social creatures, preferring to live in a pack structure!
  • ... IC pack joiner, you can now begin posting -- you may start your IC pack joining thread whenever you're ready. Make sure you check the pack information to see if the leadership requires anything extra from you!
  • ... OOC pack joiner, the leader still has to respond here before you can start roleplaying -- don't worry, though; if you're rejected from the pack you'll be titled as a Loner, and you're free to pursue other packs or the same one later.
Post-Joining Process
Mandatory:
  • Make an In Character post within five days. Post a thread request to get started, or consider starting or replying to an open thread.
  • Please let us know in the Absentee Thread if you plan to be absent for more than four days.
  • Keep reading! While there's only a minimum of three topics you have to read to join the game, we provide a wealth of information for a reason -- we expect players to read and reference this material often while they roleplay at 'Souls.
Preferred:
  • If you're leaving us, please try to let us know in the Player Updates forum. There is no penalty for leaving; you're free to re-join at any time later.
Still Need a Bit of Help?

Post any questions you may have in the Questions and Help forum. Check the FAQ first, though! The Mentors can assist you with writing, roleplaying, and understanding 'Souls concepts. Failing all else, contact a staff member.

If you need help getting adjusted to your pack, you should talk to your pack leader! They can help you to understand the pack's rank system and how to get a better rank, as well as direct you to plots, potential thread partners, and active members of the pack who may be interested in engaging you.
