I want to walk on your wavelength

Read only. Just so I can flesh out where Magnolia’s mind is and whatnot. Yay for angsty teenagers!!! 8D Also, excuse the weird adjectives used in this post. I CANNOT stop listening to E.T…. –dies.-

Salsola was the most supernatural, terrifying, and aggravating place Magnolia never expected to end up in. The young woman was valued just a little over dirt and that knowledge to a girl that used to think the world revolved around her stung. Day after day she found her inability to reach out to the rest of the pack exhausting. She was trying so hard and yet she felt like there was no return on her effort. She had only met a handful of characters here so far, and so far it didn’t seem to matter that she had reunited with Salvia, and met Itachi. Her interactions with the Family were useless. She wasn’t one of them just quite yet. But she wanted to be, and Magnolia wasn’t giving up yet. She wanted her acceptance to happen instantly, but she knew that wasn’t going to happen. Her impatience truly got the best of her sometimes.

Magnolia had been in her four-legged form earlier in the day but these days she felt more comfortable standing upright. This brought a dichotomy to the front of her mind about the way she was living her life here. The wolf in her felt like it was slipping away; Magnolia found the amount of human influence in Salsola repulsive. It was so foreign, unnatural. She of course would never say anything, and she was trying her hardest to assimilate, so she took cues from other wolves who adopted that lifestyle. The girl couldn’t imagine tending to sheep or cooking her food the way her pack mates did. But considering her low rank as an associate, she couldn’t do anything else. She felt forced to adopt behavior she didn’t believe was her own. It was nothing but confusing and downright annoying. Magnolia constantly felt like she was betraying herself. Being in Salsola felt like she was forgetting her home, her blood, and her mind.

The frustration came to a head tonight. The woman had retired to the patch of grass by the ruins she called home for the past few weeks. But now that she was settled in the summer evening she still felt awake. Jade eyes shot open suddenly after minutes of staying shut. Magnolia got up and started walking around the ruins she was supposed to love and defend; there was a bad taste in her mouth. What would Niro say if he saw all of this? Would he want her to place her loyalties here? As she paced, Magnolia started crying silently, not wanting to attract unwanted attention. Even if anyone did hear her, she doubted they would have any sympathy for her. She was a young Associate that wasn’t trusted yet. She was only here on Larkspur’s words, and she wasn’t entirely sure how much those were worth anymore.

The tears continued to fall as she looked up at the blanket of stars above her. She was an alien here. She wished she could jump to another planet, another dimension. Magnolia wasn’t sure if she’d ever feel at home here. A huge sob escaped her lips as she thought of her father, and the new family that she hadn’t met yet. Jiva was waiting to meet her. The thought made the tears fall harder and her feet stop moving. Magnolia could barely even breathe. She fell against the wall, back leaning against the building. Without even thinking, the mohawked woman whipped around and punched the ancient building before her. The sobs came harder despite Magnolia not feeling the pain in her hand.

It was all Lolita’s fault. She wasn’t supposed to leave. Her mother. Lolita didn’t even deserve that title. Lolita couldn’t be a part of her; there was no trace of her mother’s blood coursing through her veins. She was Niro’s carbon copy except for the black tip on her tail. Lolita was only the vessel that brought her into the world, nothing else.

A phantom of an idea made its way into the Associate’s mind. She wasn’t Lolita’s daughter, so why carry her name? The dead woman probably was dead now, or at least Magnolia secretly hoped. There was no point in wasting time worrying about the shepherd. She was Niro’s girl.Magnolia Takekuro. The name made her smile as she stared at the building hidden in the darkness. She had introduced herself to Caspa that way, and though she hadn’t realized it then, it felt right. Monroe was a pointless surname; it wasn’t even Lolita’s real name. If everything had worked out, Magnolia should have been a Haskel. But that name meant nothing to her.

Maggie wiped the tears from her face with her now-hurting hand, and pulled herself together. “I’m so sorry Dad,” the girl croaked out, sniveling. She had promised to visit soon, and she would. Once everything in this strange and extraterrestrial land worked out. Magnolia’s heart pined for the moment she could go home and see her dear father again.
