The time she had spent preparing to meet with her father and sister for the first time in months had seemed long and she had been so unsure of herself, and now that she had found her father, it had been so disheartening to find out that Magnolia had left. Foxglove had been so upset to find out that her sister had left the kingdom. She had chosen to stay there! Why had she left so quickly? The Monroe girl sat atop the champagne-colored mare, moving in the direction of her first pack’s borders. She had left Dahlia de Mai back in January with her mother and sisters, and she had not been back there since. The gypsy girl did not know the reason for it; she simply hadn’t.
Foxglove slid down from the mare’s back as she approached, but something was wrong. Something did not smell right, it did not feel right. The blonde wolfdog walked in silence, long silky material swishing around her feet in the long grass and overgrown plants littered with tobacco that was Flander’s Field. Lovely green eyes searched the area, realizing now what was wrong. Dahlia was not here. Lithe fingers reached up and she covered her mouth and pink nose with her hand. What had happened? The mare came up behind her slowly, nudging the girl's scarf-covered shoulder.
Absently she reached up to stroke the equine's velvet nose. Somehow she could tell that Dahlia de Mai was not here any longer and it made it seem as if years had passed since she had seen her father the day before. Where was Maggie now, then? She had been making a guess that her sister might have gone back to Dahlia after leaving the kingdom. Had she, and if so, where could she possibly be now?
