Summer Storm

She was still sad and slightly angry about this entire thing but ever since she had met with Jefferson she had found herself beginning to let go of it slowly, very slowly. It was such thoughts that had her wandering around aimlessly and generally being useless. It was all still so strange to her and she shivered underneath her less heavy summer coat. She had been having trouble understanding where she fit within this new pack, her usual social nature being crushed under the weight of her emotions turning her into an irritable and untalkative person that people tended to stay away from when they saw coming.

She rolled her shoulders and flexed her paws as she walked feeling a pent up energy within her that she had not felt for some time. A will and wanting to do something but not knowing how. She was also aware of the effect that her mild depression was having on Temo, dragging him down with her as he worried over her constantly and she realised she hadn't seen him in a while, this caused her to frown and raise her head to the sky, a loud howl echoing out from her location, calling for him wherever he was.

Temo was out and about as he usually is. There was many houses to look through although a lot of them had already been ransacked many years ago. Occasionally, he would come onto a building where the last remnants of the human race had resided when they finally succumbed to the virus. In those buildings, he found a wealth of stuff that the humans had collected as they fought for survival and lived out their final days. He had been doing a lot of exploring these days. It helped him forget about the emptiness that he had been feeling. It helped him forget the ache in his heart for Jace. The ache in his heart that had slowly grown as it seemed they were slowly drifting apart. Jace always going off wandering or patrolling the boarders and leaving him alone and to his own devices.

It was a few moments before Temo realized that It was Jace calling for him that his twitching ears had heard. His ears went back in annoyance with himself that it took so long for the realization to occur. He was still able to discern the direction from which the howl had come from. He looked to the sky and gave an answering howl telling her he had heard and his direction, laced with some surprise that her thoughts seemed to have turned to him. With a final look at the door he was attempting to force open, he turned and with a fast pace, walked off in the direction that Jace's howl had come from. His thoughts moving from his explorations to Jace and what could be wrong.

The woman let her how tail off into nothingness and waited dutifully for a response of any kind. Her tail wagged slightly as she heard his return howl coming towards her from a way off and knew it would be a short while before he joined up with her. She sat down upon her rear and crossed her legs, settling down to wait. She pulled her hunting knife out of her satchel and began to practise her aim by throwing it at a nearby tree stump. This knife had saved her life countless times and she didn't want to get rusty at using it.

After a suitable amount of time had passed she howled again to cement just exactly where she was in the pack lands. Eventually his scent floated ahead of him and she stood, returning her knife back to her satchel. Her tail wagging happily when she finally caught sight of him, she had missed him dearly in their brief separation and as he came up to her she wrapped her arms around him and hugged him close, relishing the scent of him as it consumed her.

"Hey, where have you been today then. I missed you."

Occasional beams of sunlight slipped by the clouds and shown down upon Temo as he trekked through the trees and occasional clearing heading for where he had heard Jace howl for him. At the pace he had set for himself, it was not long before he figured he was getting near. Sure enough, when he heard her second howl, he knew he was close. His ears rotated and homed in on the howl and he changed his direction slightly and soon he could detect her scent on the air and then she was in sight.

His eyes brightened up as his ears perked forward and his tail wagged with Jace coming into view. He had been missing her a lot and had worried about her all the time, mostly when they were apart which seemed like all the time lately. As she wrapped her arms around him, he wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tight. He just stood and held her for several moments breathing in her scent and relishing holding her against him and feeling her heart beat against his chest. "Nowhere special, I have just been out exploring." He finally answered her question.

;__; i am ashamed of this D:

The woman was glad he was back with her again, his absence did not diminish her depression at all. Jace was finding it extremely hard to fit into this new place but his company was helpful somewhat. The wolfdog sighed quietly and pulled back from the hug, licking him on the cheek in the process and smiled at him. She shifted and rolled her shoulders, a thoughtful look crossing her face.

"You know I was thinking, maybe we should find somewhere to stay? A house, we never got around to it in Pho-" The woman cut off and heaved a giant sigh, "Phoenix Valley and we're higher up here, if another snow storm hits we might not be so lucky as to find somewhere." Her mouth was set into a grim line, only pure luck had saved them both during February and her partial clairvoyance. Her face relaxed into a neutral expression.

A little disappointed when she pulled away from the hug, but he did not show it as it was only fleeting. He was glad to see her. He was always glad to see her and have her company. He had been feeling lonely of late whenever he was out and about by himself ransacking houses and other human buildings. His muzzle gained a little more of a smile with her lick of affection on his cheek and he responded in kind with an affection lick on her cheek.

Bad memories flashed behind his eyes for a moment as he remembered the snowstorm. He knew that he was lucky to have survived and he still was not sure exactly how he had managed to find her with the snow and wind blinding his senses. Whatever it was that brought them back together during the storm, he was grateful and did not question it.

He could sense her displeasure about the pack merge and move. He had not been thrilled about it either but was trying his best to make the most of it and turn it into a happy time. He only hoped that she could do the same but knew it would take time. He pondered her question for a few moments as he sifted through his memorys of all the buildings he had been through. "I may have a nice one picked out all ready. It is on the north side of the human town they called Westville," he responded, "It is in descent shape and I have already started using it for storing salvageable items I had found in my travels. Would you like to see it or did you have something in mind?"

Above them, high in the sky heavy clouds began to roll in from the ocean side of the pack, blown in by fast winds and a cold front moving towards the land and dragging with it a large load of water that had recently been evaporated from the sea. In the distance cold met warm and a low rumbling thunder had her ears twisting towards the sound. Her fur puffed itself up in anticipation of having to fend off freezing rain and keep her inner fur and skin dry and thus warm. A gusty breeze tugged at her mane, the long strands dancing in the air a though pleased by the weather. Jace's body did all this automatically in response to changes in the air it could sense but her attention was firmly captured by the black man before her, a slight smile on her face.

She listened intently as he told her about the place he had found with pride and also shame welling up quietly inside of her. While she had been moping about and generally being useless and selfish he had thought ahead, using his initiative to produce something worthy of a mate. She should have also been busy at work, helping the others complete their move and collecting stuff she and Temo would also need, the shame of this had her tail laying flat against her legs. Jace's eyes finally remove themselves from him to look about the place she must call home now with critical gaze, if she was going to live here then she would make a proper go of it rather than the half arsed attitude she had been displaying lately.

"Yes I would like to see it, could we go now?" Some of her old enthusiasm was leeching back into her voice, now she had made the conscious decision to join in she was genuinely excited

Hearing her excitement and enthusiasm grow in Jace's voice seemed to help Temo's mood and he began to get excited too. His thoughts seem to gain hope that all the time he had spent wandering around and looking through various houses and buildings for anything that would be useful were not in vain.

"Sure, we can go now. It is that way." he replied to her, one hand pointing in the general direction they would have to travel. His excitement built as she seemed more interested in him and what he had been up too of late. He takes her hand in his and heads off in the previously indicated direction with her at his side.

They spent some time walking hand in hand with more sunlight slipping by the clouds as Temo took Jace to what will be their new home in the new pack lands. A place they can call their own. Then, he stops and before them was a house. There was nothing about it that set it apart from the others. "I know it does not look like much, but there it is." he said to Jace with a smile on his muzzle and his free hand gestured toward the house.

They set off in the direction he had pointed, off towards where she knew one of the large towns to be. She had left behind the lost and scared attitude she had held when she first came to souls, no more did the large houses scare her and the mysteriousness of it all make her shiver. She smiled as his hand slid into hers, a perfect fit as always and squeezed it lightly. His paw pads were warm and rough against her own softer yet still work roughened pads and she grinned like an idiot as he lead her towards what may be their new home. They traveled through one of the towns to save time rather than walking around it. It was an eerie feeling, so quiet and empty.. there was really nothing to suggest the viral epidemic that had swept the human race, it just looked as though everyone had disappeared one day and had never come back.

They arrived at the outskirts and something more rural and open looking, and he pointed out the one that he had picked for them. Her eyes roamed over its exterior, she could tell it would need some work and some fixing up before it would truly become thier home instead of just a place they slept. But it was nice enough looking. The lawn was completely overgrown and resembled a small jungle. She wondered about getting a few of the grass eating animals down here to trim it down. She turned to Temo, a bright smile on her face,

"I like the look of it, can we go inside? I wanna be nosy and snoop around" She giggled a little bit at her words in a decidedly un-Jacelike fashion,

The smile on his muzzle got bigger as Temo watched Jace's reaction. It was good to see her happy and smiling again. It warmed his heart to be able to bring joy into her life once again. It was a long and dark road they had traveled after what had happened a number of months ago. Sometimes he felt they were drifting apart and it made his heart sing to bring happiness into her life once again.

He glanced at her and quirked an eyebrow at her choice of words. The way she was talking, she seemed to be a new Jace now. His smile continued showing that he was happy. It felt like it had been a long time since he had been truly happy. "Sure, we can go in."

Still holding her hand, he takes her up onto the porch and to the door. Grasping the knob and turning, he pushes hard on the door overcoming the friction of the swelled wood. With a protest from the hinges that had not seen action for many years, the door opened to reveal the dust covered interior of the house. "After you, my love," he says as he gently pulls her hand towards the door signaling her to enter.

The door was heavy and swollen from the recent weather and Jace wondered if it were possible to find a replacement and attach it on and see if the replacement fared any better. She felt Temo grip her paw and squeezed back a smile framing her face. She was excited to see the inside of the house now and slipped in through the open door into a world of green and brown. The floors were paneled with a grainy looking wood that was covered with some kind of shiny material that her claws clicked against. The walls were painted in various shades of green and punctuated with splashes of bright purple and blue color. She squinted t the paintings and finally realised the greens represented leaves and the splashes of purple and blue were supposed to be flowers, the whole hallway copied a tree in full bloom, it was a beautiful effect, even the flooring was painted with different shades of wood in long wavy patters supposed to be roots of the trees.

She continued on down the central hallway not wanting to look in the rooms who's doors led off the long rectangle tunnel just yet, she wanted to see where this figurative rabbit hole ended. It ended in a black and white room that Jace knew to be a kitchen, with the appliances and other things human's kept in there, such as the large boxes the stored their food in and the shiney silvery thing that dipped down into the black colored surface. Straight ahead there was a long material covered bed type thing with a high back and sides. A sniff of the room told her of a horrible rotten smell coming from the two food boxes and instinct told her not to open them and to get rid of them as soon as possible.

Temo followed Jace into the house and he could smell the mustiness that had permeated throughout the building. The smell of the rodents that had taken up housekeeping filtered through the musty smell as he made his way down the hall to stand next to Jace. His nose wrinkled when the bad, rotten smell from the food boxes made it's way to his nostrils.

"We will need to air this place out," he said to her, "and get rid of those," his hand waved at the two food boxes that were emitting the worst smell. He made his way to the glass doors and after a few moments figuring out the lock opened them up to let in fresh air. "Ahhhh, that is better," he said as he took a deep breath of the outside air as it proceeded to enter the house.

After clearing his lungs of the musty and rotten foods smells, Temo went over to the cabinets and opened one up and startled a mouse that was not expecting it's quiet dark home to suddenly lighten up to a wolf face mere inches away. After a moment of surprise, the mouse scurried away down the cupboard where it was still dark and safer for mice that want to stay alive.

As he watched the mouse disappear down the cupboard, "We have a live in food source," he joked to Jace. He then opened a drawer to find the mice had chewed up and made nests in the cloth items that the humans had used for wiping food from their faces and covered the tables with when they ate. "Looks like we have a bunch of cleaning to do. Shall we check out the rest of the house?" he asked as he left the rest of the cupboards and drawers untouched and started making his way back down the hall to the closed doors of the other rooms.

Underneath the smell of rotting food and bacterial growth was the smell of rodents and their nests, her nose twitched at the unpleasant odor and she suppressed a sneeze. Wiping her nose with an ashen hand she nodded at Temo's words,

"Yeah, maybe we can find some flowers or something like that to mask over the smell until it goes away." She sniffed again and looked at the food boxes with disgust. Presumably the humans that had lived here were long dead and Jace wondered where their bodies were in a morbid train of thought. She could never know that this had been a newly wed couples first house and the one they had intended to live out the rest of the lives in, raise their children and then pass it on to their grand kids when the time came. A fresh breath of air blew in from the open doors and she breathed a sigh of relief, the stale smell was obtrusive.

She heard the surprised squeak and the scratching scurrying sound as the mouse made a run for it and giggled, she ran her hand over the material covering the bed thing, it was soft to the touch,

"Leave the rodents alone, you know they don't taste good." She recalled thier trek through the small desert on their way here and having to eat rodents which tasted horrible even to a canines stomach. She tested the strength of the bed like thing in the corner and found it still to be stable, the mice hadn't eaten into it surprisingly enough and she wondered why this was, maybe because it was human made? But they had eaten teh drawers and other stuff, it was a mystery that would remain unsolved.

"Coming." She stood and began to follow him back towards the hall way and other rooms.

Temo was glad he had left the door open when they entered the house and with the cross breeze that having the french doors open created, the smells in the house was decreased. He could see the dust that they stirred up drifting around through several shafts of sunlight that wandered inside and were making an attempt at brightening up the interior of the house.

As he reached the first door, he grasps the knob, turns it and pushes it open. What he saw was a smallish room that had a counter with a small basin with a roundish basin that had a squarish lidded box on top next to the counter. At the end of the room was a large open basin that was big enough he could sit in. The almost overpowering smell of dampness and rotten wood almost ran him over in it's attempt to escape what Temo realized the humans called a bathroom.

Temo stepped into the room and started to walk across the black and white checked floor. The squares matched the kitchen and it was obvious that they had used the same material for the bathroom floor. As he walked past the toilet, he noticed the floor felt spongy and it got worse as he got closer to the toilet. He carefully stepped his way to the window and opened it to let more air in.

When he turned around and looked, he could see that the floor under the toilet tank was totally rotten away when the water in the leaky tank slowly dripped out onto the floor and pooled. and he could see the pipes and beams underneath the floor through the holes. "This room will need a lot of repair work, mainly on the floor." he told Jace as she watched from the doorway as he moved about in the room.

Temo carefully made his way back to the door, staying on the far side of the room away from the toilet as he did not want to take the chance of falling through. "That big basin at the end of the room would be good for melting snow in during the winter storms and we can store meat in and food in here so we do not have to travel far from the house during the blizzards." he suggested his idea to Jace as he remembered about that blizzard they were caught out in last winter. "Shall we continue..." he motioned to for Jace to pick out a door.

She was right behind him as he opened the door to one of the rooms and she gagged as the stench of damp and mold rolled out and over them. It was almost as horrible as the smell of old rotting coming from the two food boxes in the kitchen. Her nose wrinkled at the smell, part of the floor was even rotted away from water damage. Human contraption filled the room and she didn't even want to begin guessing what they were used for. If there was a way to remove the large basin like Temo had said then she would be all for walling off the room and pretending it didn't exist, such was the horrific stink but then that was why he was Bensen and she was Yakuso, he knew more about woodwork and fixing things than she did.

"Yeah that's a good idea, I wouldn't have thought of that to be honest." She said with a lopsided grin. She took the lead now and randomly decided to open the next room down on the adjacent side, the one closest to the front door. She shuffled into the room which was sky blue painted walls with the same hardwood floor as the rest of the house. It had one set of huge windows and then more glass doors like she had seen in the kitchen, it was quite frankly, magnificent.

i hope you don't mind a more ornate bed | +277

He could Breath easier when they left the bathroom and the rotten stench that was hanging in the air in there. Temo followed Jace further down the hall to the next door. He watched with anticipation as she opened the door. He peered over her shoulder into the room seeing the hardwood floor continue into the room with the light streaming in through the french doors and large windows.

Temo followed Jace into the room and looked around at the furnishings. He slowly walked around and ran a hand down the edge of the ornate, carved hardwood dresser leaving a streak of clean in the thick dust. "Beautiful..." he whispered to no one in particular as he marveled at the carving knowing that even though he was good with woodworking, he could not match this level of craftsmanship.

His eyes next went to the large bed and the matching ornate carving on the headboard and footboard. Temo bent over and placed his hands on the mattress and pushed up and down. The bed creeked from years of disuse but did not fall apart. A reach under the mattress and he lifted up the edge and peered at the wood. Tapping on the slats with a claw they sounded good and sound, not rotten.

After he set the mattress back down into place and a little smoothing of the dust covered bed spread, he turned to Jace, "The bed looks like it is useable," he said to her. Suddenly, Temo grabs Jace and picks her up and tosses her onto the middle of the bed creating a cloud of dust as she bounces a couple of times on the mattress.

Bajcio - bastard

Like everywhere else this room smelt of damp and of disuse, a layer of thick dust coated everything prompting her to wave at the air and watch the particles swirl. As Temo inspected the carving of the dresser Jace wandered in front of the large body length mirror that was set on the wall, she pulled a sexy pose in front of it and then laughed at her silly antics. She then drew a large smiley face in the dust with her finger, it was crude but passable, she had never been an artist of the hands. The dust fluff was wiped from her hands with a simple motion.

Not expecting it in the least she screamed and laughed as Temo picked her up, kicking her legs in the air and wriggling around. Her breath whooshed out of her in a single 'oof' noise as she hit then bed and a plume of dust was thrown up into the air around her. She sneezed several times and kicked some of the dust cloud towards Temo,

"Bajcio! You Bajcio." She laughed and then lunged forwards at him, clinging onto his arms and dragging him onto the bed with her. She grabbed a pillow from the top of the bed and hit him over the head a few times, ending more dust into the already swirling air.

hahahahahha | +321

Laughing at Jace as she bounced on the bed amid the cloud of dust that had formed around her, Temo waved a hand in front of his face in a failed attempt at clearing the dust from the air that he breathed in. As the dust cloud expanded like an explosion from the middle of the bed, Temo let out a dust ridden sneeze which caused the dust to swirl around them even more for a few moments.

A forming sneeze interrupted and forgotten by Jace when she grabbed onto his arms and pulled him onto the bed. With more dust billowing out and around them, he squirmed around trying to sit up when out of the swirling dust a pillow rapidly approached him and soon made contact with his head poofing out more dust into the air causing the swirls to thicken.

Amid the dust and the pillow that seemed bent on attacking his head, he managed to grab the other pillow and swing back in self defense. With even more dust added to the swirling mass that was around them, he managed to whack Jace a couple of times on her head before the old and partially rotten fabric of the pillow split from the harsh treatment.

With the sudden removal of the containing properties of the pillow case, the down feathers that were, until now, being a pillow, were suddenly set free to fly about through the air to dance with the dust. Temo dropped the material that once was a pillow and grabbed Jace's arms attempting to protect himself from her continued hitting him with a pillow. He hung onto her as he laughed and half choked from the dust he was inhaling, the down feathers settling on and around them like some weird snow fall with what sun that could find it's way through the dust to illuminate the mess that was collecting on and around them.

blagh

They belted each other with the pillows in reckless abandon, dust motes blanketing the air around them in a dirty snowfall until the pillows ripped and feathers were strewn about everywhere, floating down gently . She giggled as he launched himself at her and pinned her down with her arms at her sides so she couldn't hit him anymore. Laughing at him half laughing and half choking until tears of mirth streamed backwards from her eyes to collect underneath her bed on the sheeting. She wriggled her body around to see if she could squirm free but alas she was trapped.

Instead she closed her eyes and went limp, as though pretending to be asleep or unconscious

Dust and feathers filled the air about them dancing in the beams of sunlight that was trying to find their way into the room to brighten the place but finding it hard to do so. Dust and feathers everywhere and building a thick coating onto everything that is in the room.

The dust and feathers that were making an attempt to cover them did not have a chance. With their moving and wrestling with each other, the feathers did not stand a chance to settle in the vicinity of or onto the two wolves. A beam of sunlight managed to wander all the way into the room and shown onto the wolves before getting bored and leaving.

Temo worked hard at keeping her from whacking him any more with the pillow and he forgot about the dust that was getting into his nose trying to make him sneeze. It had been a long time since they had wrestled about together just for fun and games. When she went limp and closed her eyes, he knew Jace was pretending. He laid down with her and used her belly as a pillow, relaxing and closed his eyes. He totally expected her to suddenly spring to life and start whacking with the pillow again, but he did not care. For the first time in a long time, he was happy and did not want the moment to pass.
