It's too bad

Mew was entertaining, but she needed rest. He fully understood that, even though he would rather not have. Actually, Haku was not happy. Seeing her and all was of course pleasant, she was family and all, one of the family members he always had gone well along with. But. He was not happy about her condition. He was not happy, and that was the mood he preferred. She was taking a small break and he was being his own personal guide and was walking a bit around. He did not feel as a trespasser at all, as he fully intended to join as soon as he found a wolf that had the powers to grant him a membership. He was wonderful, so he could not be denied. A part of him pondered about his mother. There was a decent chance that Colibri might would dislike having him about, but that was her problem, not his.

He sat down in the outskirts of the town where Mew had her own private apartment, letting a great yawn overpower his face. These lands were promising, as there were different options to choose between. He had seen the sea in the distance, there were forests and human towns. He would like it here. The only negative thing he could think of at the moment was the gray clouds blocking out the sun. Else from that, Haku Soul had not a worry in the world. From what the gentle breeze told him, an old(or actually, young) acquaintance would meet up with him in a matter of minutes.

I’m playing as this is the night after my thread with Red XD

Cercelee had woken up on the floor of the wine shack. Her memory was spotty, but she could gather enough to tell herself that she regretted last night. Who knew the effect that stupid liquid would have had on her? Worse of all, Cercelee still stank like the wine, as well as her male companion of last night. Sitting up the female realized that not only was she still in her shifted were form, but her normally spotless white pelt was dotted here and there where she had either spilled wine on herself, or fallen asleep in a spot of it. Looking down at the grey flecks that grew up her arms and legs, her navy eyes brightened, at least her strange spots, which shows up a little more notably while she was shifted had company, for now.

Leaving the shack Cer walked herself to a river, in which she spent most of the morning and into the afternoon soaking her fur so that the discolored stains would fade away. It took longer than she would have liked, scrubbing with only her hands, she knew that Colibri’s sister would probably have something that would have helped get the stains out faster but she didn’t want anyone to see her like that. Finally she pulled herself from the river, her body finally clean even if her mind was not, and Cer shifted back into a wolf, the form she was more comfortable with. Shaking herself as dry as she could, she moved on, turning towards the towns. Her next stop would be to see Mew, Colibri had told her about the grim experience and even if Cer and Mew were not that close yet, Cer wanted them to be so and she also wanted to make sure that the female was okay. However a figure was soon in her line of sight that surprised her so much that Mew flew from her mind.

Haku?!

Haku had a hard time understanding all the coincidences that apparently had lead to these wolves seeking together in the same pack. He could nothing but accept it, but he did not understand it. It was indeed Cercelee that appeared after a little while, and as he saw the surprise grab her by the neck, he slowly tilted his head to one side, wondering what in the world he was to tell her. Cer would of course ask about Colibri ’junior’ and her whereabouts. The chocolate and cream coated male would of course do his best to answer truthfully, so this would indeed become and interesting encounter to experience. It was good, all good. A little smile was placed on his lips, and he waited for her to come closer, not bothering doing to moving himself, because he was sitting rather comfortable where he was at the moment.

”Well, would you look at that.” There was a genuine smile in his voice, as he actually was happy to see her again. He could handle her easily. ”You surely picked the right pack, I’m delighted to see so many old faces. I could easily like it here.” Yes, he wanted her to know that he planned becoming a part of this place. Why not? Most wolves stuck together with their family with all their blood is thicker than water bullshit, so why couldn’t he just do as them? If this was a wrong choice then he would simply leave. Right now he would have liked to stay here, at least for a bit. He wondered if his little pretty daughter would have enjoyed being here too. It was probably no point even thinking the thought, because he doubted he would see her again in the closest future. Oh, such a cruel Haku he was.

Haku seemed back to his old self, not the really strange wolf that Cer had left, just the slightly eccentric wolf that he had been when she had met him. This was comforting and uncomforting at the same time, but if she felt any unpleasantness at meeting him she hid it all too well. Her face was bright and merry, and while her voice was calm and somewhat cool as it always was, it was also friendly to her best friend’s father. Excuse me sir? My face is anything but old. Waving her tail slowly behind her, Cercelee thought over his words. He wanted to stay here? So surely she didn’t have to ask him why he was here, but Cercelee wasn’t sure she liked it. What would Colibri think of it?

Both of the two knew where the conversation was bound to end up, and Cercelee did not try to stall it in anyway. What was the point? Her voice was still friendly, and she asked almost innocently the question she knew Haku was waiting for. Where is Coli? Why wasn’t his daughter with him? Why had she not returned. Despite her welcoming voice and mannerisms, she knew that Haku would know she wanted to see his daughter, not him. Anyone who knew Cer at all would know this, she wanted her friend back, not her strange father. Cercelee exhaled slowly, tilted her head and perking her ears, waiting for the answer that would either confirm or extinguish the assumptions Cer had held when leaving the two of them months ago.

Apparently she was not overly happy to see him again, but he could understand that. Cercelee and Coli had been good friends, so seeing him here alone without his offspring was of course disappointing for her, he was sure. He became slightly irritated as she commented his own words. She knew exactly what he had meant. Old faces, faces he knew, it was a way of speaking. Haku disliked being corrected, but he forced himself to let the comment pass, and just kept his little smile. Hopefully Cercelee and Colibri had not talked too much about him. Colibri was a pathetic wreck that hid everything inside of her, so that she could have something to cry about at nights. Pathetic.

”Coli decided not to come, so it is only me, I’m afraid.” Haku had appreciated Cercelee’s departure back in the past. The demon had begun to stir at that time, and it fitted so perfectly that he was alone with his daughter. Sure, he did feel guilt every now and then, but he just chose not to think of it too much. He had enjoyed it. His words were sincere as he spoke them, because Coli could always have followed, but she had not. Completely understandable, it was for the best, really. Coli was probably left exactly at the spot he had left her. Cold and broken on the floor, weeping. Why did they all weep? Why?

The friendly facade stayed in tact, unless one was God they could never know all the layers of Cer’s thoughts. It was at this moment that Cercelee decided she didn’t entirely trust Haku. He could be kind hearted, she knew that. He had after all taken her in when she needed someone, but he was not always the same wolf Cercelee decided. And she would not make this easy on him. He was a liar in the same sense she was, a honest liar only leaving out details, Cercelee played that game as well. The male probably wouldn’t crack but she could ask anyway, it would bother him if she was not content with the answer he had given. Why did she not want to come?

Something had to have changed for Coli not to come, she had promised she would come again. Cercelee didn’t think this meant Coli had broken her promise but only that is was delayed, and Haku knew why but was not telling. Cer smiled again, to any on looker and even to each other it seemed they were glad to see each other again. And it was partially true, Cercelee was happy to see that her care giver was alive and well. Yet also only know to the two of them, they were playing a sort of cat and mouse game with each other, a game that no one could see but them, and perhaps they didn’t even know the other one was playing. On cue, as if to let Haku know that she and Colibri had indeed spoke of him, she asked another completely innocent question.
So, do you want to see your mother?

Unfortunately, Haku was not God. According to himself he would have done a magnificent job, but none had been offered. She was not content, and threw another question in his face. He found it rather rude. Why could she not just accept his answer and live on with her pathetic little life? Nothing stirred above the surface, his face remained calm as ever, blue eyes wandered off the white figure for a second, as if trying to think of why Coli had not come with, as if he did not know. Haku and Cer were brilliant actors, but it was unfortunate that they were unable to read each others little moves. Right now Haku decided that she was just bothersome. Innocent questions? Hah, what did this mean? Her voice spoke of his mother, if he wanted to see her again. Yes, he actually did. He truthfully loved Colibri, the reason for his existence.

”I do not know, Cercelee. She just did not come with me, that is all I know. Maybe she will appear, I cannot answer your questions.” It was in fact true what he said though. He then nodded slowly, moving down to her last annoying and pathetic question. ”It would be pleasant seeing my dear mother again, of course..” He was not sure if he liked the direction of this, because he did not know how her mother would react. Cer was ruining for him and the worst part was that she probably knew. Or was he just starting with paranoia again? Quite possible, he knew he was not all that stable mentally. It was Colibri’s fault, it was she that had introduced Haku to the creature that was fucking around with him.

As the slim female had guessed Haku could offer no more insights on why Coli had not accompanied him. And perhaps he was telling the truth on way or another, maybe like herself if she told herself it was true she was able to believe and thus not lie to anyone, like when she told others that she was not a Sadira, or maybe whatever screw was loose in his head really prevented him from knowing. Either way Cercelee just nodded and continued, as if she had just not purposely set up a hurdle for him to jump, and as if he had not just sailed over it and landed on Cer’s satisfaction, crushing it. Well, it is certainly nice to see you, Haku.
The words were sincere, and Cer’s satisfaction bounced back as she sought another outlet to poke at Haku.

Throwing her head back, Cercelee let loose a long, drawn out howl intended for Colibri. She left no real indication in the call as to why she was calling, because what if Colibri didn’t show up? By now she had pieced together their little family, Colibri, mommy dearest, and Mew and Haku. The tension between Mew and Colibri had been evident to all of the pack, what if it were the same with Colibri and Haku? Or maybe not. Cercelee couldn’t pretend to know the inner workings of a family, she had no family any longer aside from extended and distant relative who really didn’t know her all too well. As for an immediate family, that was now foreign to her, and she wanted to see how they all interacted. Colibri, Mew, and Haku. She should be here
shortly.

I am sooo burning myself out today...

She was actually on her way to take a look at Mew when the howl sounded. She slowed down her paste, wondering why Cer did not have any message of anything particular in her call. Maybe the younger female just wanted some company, and Colibri supposed it was not unwelcome. She felt brighter than she had done for a while. Lucifer had lifted her spirits, and Mew was not close to death. Of course, the loss of her daughter’s litter was hard, but if she could have chosen, Colibri would rather have wanted Mew to survive than the litter, and maybe her wish had been granted. Losing children was hard, she should know. So much tragedy.

She quickened her trot and floated toward Cercelee’s position in the lands, which was just beyond a few buildings. Her son’s scent went somehow unnoticed because her head was full of thoughts that she desperately tried to sort out. However, when she caught sight of the two wolves, her heart skipped quite a few beats. She hurried closer, eyes threatening popping out because of what she saw. Haku. It couldn’t be. Why? How! Why now! Why did everything fall apart around her, what had she done to deserve such .. No, she was not happy. Or, an odd happiness rose because it was a living proof that her son was alive and well, but.. She could not grasp it.

“What?” Colibri did not know what to say, as she entered the scene, obviously placing herself on some distance, and as far from Haku as possible. She could feel his hand strangling her, slowly suffocating her. Why did her nightmares come back? This was no nightmare, this was reality, and it made it so much more terrible. She began to shiver, ears flattened and she slightly crunched. “ Why.. What do you want.. Haku?”

Cercelee actually did call for her. What was the point of moving so fast forward? Filthy little female. Haku had to force himself holding back. If Colibri was here, it was just a question about time anyway before they would face each other. Maybe this was for the best. Yes, he decided it was. After all, how could his mother question his enormous love to her? When they had ’parted’, he had told her that he loved her. He did, he would never lie about such an amazing thing as love. He did not reply to Cer’s words, just stared lightly at her, face as blank as it always was. Now, this was very exciting. Her scent came drifting with the wind. Seemed like the whole family was gathered in the old human city today. Funny.

It was quite clear from the moment they saw each other that this was not exactly what she had expected. He offered her a gentle smile, but she was unable to recognize anything positive with him, it seemed. She spoke in disbelief and placed herself away from him. His ears flattened, and he wondered if the feeling creeping up his spine actually was a mild form of sadness. Of course she was not happy to see him, but come on. They had not seen each other for a good while, surely feelings had cooled down a bit by now. He was her youngest child. He did not like the welcome he had received. Cercelee was a silly youth and his mother was a chicken not being able to even look at herself in a mirror without passing out.

“ Mother, what is wrong?” He was all controlled and calm, sky blue eyes curiously eying the female that had once given birth to him.

Cercelee waited in silence as they waited for Colibri to arrive. Haku did not protest out loud that Cercelee had cut their private visit short so soon. Truthfully, Cer would be glad to have another here. Perhaps watching Colibri and Haku together, she could understand better what is was about Haku that was off. Navy eyes turned as the older female approached, and Cer saw Colibri face fall when she realized who else was waiting for her. Looking down for a moment, as if she had betrayed her co-rosea, Cercelee let any feelings of guilt pass. She really hadn’t known if Colibri would be upset or not with the boy’s presence, and besides, this was a family matter and Cercelee wasn’t certified to handle it.

Haku wished to see you Colibri. It was simple and to the point, and not a lie. Now she had little left to do but answer any question thrown her way and observe what went on between mother and son. A fly on the wall, it was really the best way to learn, granted that they did not dismiss her, well Colibri. Haku could ask her to leave and she wouldn’t have to comply, but she doubted either of them would ask her to go if she kept her mouth shut. Besides, she was here to support both of them, in a way. Haku would get what he wanted, but she was on Colibri’s “side”.

Oh he did the acting so very well she almost doubted her own memory. But. She knew what had happened, and she knew what he was, even though he could not see it himself. She saw his tail curled around his forelegs, and remembered the day where he lost part of the tail. When had he gone so wrong. It was almost surprising how easy it was to shove away the motherly feelings and stand her ground, which she now was forced to do. For the sake of them all. She threw an angry glance at Cercelee, even though the poor co-alphess surely had no idea of what was the issue here. Haku had taken care of Cercelee and his own daughter, and she wondered where Cer would stand in this matter. One thing was sure though, these lands were not safe if he was around. She feared for lives, as she no longer had any control of what her son was.

“You should not have come here, Haku.” She could not hold her voice stable, she was upset. Too much had happened within such a short time span and she did not have the nerves for it. She should never have gotten into this, never returned. It was so messed up, everything.

He very much disliked her words. This did not fit with the plans he had made. He had no idea what he had expected, but he would have wanted things to be more simple. It would have been so much easier.. If... Haku shook his head. What had made him fail? The echo of his own heartbeats had been overwhelming, and adrenaline had flushed through his body like the most effective drug. Yes, he had failed and he admitted it. Nevertheless. The platinum eyed female spoke, and his face darkened a bit when he received the words. It was not her position to say such things. She had failed so greatly and now she was trying to boss around, thinking everything would be better? Oh no, that excuse and reasoning did absolutely not work. Not on him, he was immune.

“Do not tell me what to do, Mother He put pressure on the last word, giving her a light warning glance, something in his eyes telling the other female without words that he could easily do things a second time. She was no match. “I have come to stay and I must admit I expected a warmer welcome than this.” That was only half true. He knew she would not approve, but he did not know she lived here before he came upon the borders. Mew was here, and that was a wolf he still somewhat cared about. Colibri was just a little annoyance on his path. He knew shit about the existing ranks, and knew he was the villain in an occupied area. He did not follow their rules though.

Cercelee caught the look Colibri had given her. Rather than guilt or embarrassment, it put a dreadful feeling in the pit of Cer’s stomach. Like she had unleashed a plague. Had she unleashed it upon the pack, or just Colibri? It was hard to say. Colibri’s reactions might just be from her own personal feelings of her son, but they might have been caused by something deeper, something more. There was still the mystery of why Coli had not returned, and Cer was pretty sure that Haku was the key, and she was also pretty sure that she didn’t really want to know the answer.

Cercelee wasn’t sure she should interject, but she wouldn’t watch Colibri be talked down to. Besides, despite how welcoming she was with strangers in her lands, the leaders wouldn’t be walked on. Haku might not want to play by the rules, but he had to acknowledge them, otherwise be run out. Haku, you’re not the one who gets to decide if you stay or not. It was said gently, as if a reminder rather than a command. Still, he had to remember that he could think he was in charge, but in the end there were powers above him. Cer was pretty sure that she would have others to back her up in this, Colibri, Slay and Hanna. It Haku stayed, she wouldn’t mind, but he had to stay under her rule.

Haku did not belong here. She had experienced his dark side, and she knew it was no effort digging to find it. Her feelings were mixed, but she did not want a cancer to wipe the land here and its members. The meaning with the pack had been to simply offer the wolves the home they wanted, and the ability to call it theirs. She had meant it to be a sanctuary, but she could not give Haku allowance to inhabit them. She would never have a night’s sleep if she had done, afraid of what he was out doing, afraid he would come after her. How could her little boy expect a warm welcome? She opened her mouth, but Cer took the word instead, reminding him of the fact that he was on claimed lands and had no rights to fuck about as he pleased. Colibri was torn, and she did not wish to confront all this without having her thoughts gathered.

“Haku, I know what you are capable of, and I’m not sure if it would be a good idea for you to stay as things are now. Why here?” Silly question, this was where his bloodline existed, but he had never struck her as a family loving being.

Cer corrected him again. She was twisting his words. She could keep him away from the claimed lands, but not away from the beings that lived here. He would not turn around and leave the land behind if that was what they expected. Mew was his sibling, Colibri was his mother, he had certain rights that he intended to play upon. And was not a pack supposed to protect its members? Why was Mew half dead weeping because of her dead children? Why did they not take responsibility. Were other wolves right to mess around with their members as they pleased? Was that the point? A pack was strong because it was an union of wolves seeking together, protecting each other and taking care of each other. Colibri and Cercelee had failed if that was the case.

His mother spoke, and he placed a gentle and polite smile upon his features. He ignored her question, as the reason was self-explanatory. His gaze switched between the two light females he was interacting with, finding them both dreadful. “Mew was happy to see me. She was so weakened in her current state though, would be such an easy prey for an average predator.” He had been able to spend time with her without any wolves following up on his tracks. What if the coyote had come to finish its job? It was too weak, they did not do their jobs, and it disappointed him. His gaze was put to rest on Colibri, and he knew what she would be thinking.

Cer’s ears twitched at the words Colibri spoke. Knew what he was capable of? What was he capable of? Cercelee had her doubts about her cousin, but they weren’t as grave or dark as perhaps reality was. Shooting a look at Haku, her navy eyes narrowed, as if to say once again ”Where’s Coli?”, the female turned back to Colibri. If he was to wreck havoc on the pack, they weren’t strong enough in numbers to withstand much. They might crumble. That would not happen, Cercelee would not let it. Turning her eyes to Colibri, Cercelee wondered why, if Colibri was so against her son’s presence, she did not turn him out now. Maybe she couldn’t after all.

Haku continued to speak, and he seemingly ignored both her and Colibri, although he had certainly heard them. Although he was in no position of authority, he had a point. Mew was vulnerable, in fact most of them were. Cer could care for herself, she could lead a pack but she couldn’t really protect the others. Slay was their only male, the only one with muscle, and how could he keep tabs on the other four? If trouble was brewing because of Mew’s encounter, they would need strength than what they had, but why did Haku expect it to come from him? Navy eyes turned to Colibri once more, to see if she would resolve this family matter. Cercelee kept her mouth shut.

This post is absolutely shit and I am very aware of that fact

Eyes widened more if even possible as Haku ignored their words and gave them some of his own. He had been and met up with Mew? It took a moment before Colibri’s mind understood those words in whole, and she wanted to vomit. He had arrived her temporary staying when she had left the pack for good, he had been all normal before many days after it went so horribly wrong. What if he went for Mew? What if he already had gone for Mew? She had never meant her family to be scattered, but rather that than losing any of them to death. As a leader, she was responsible of her pack’s safety, and she had already failed once with Mew, and it had cost her daughter her children. It was heart tearing, and unfortunately Colibri’s fault, at least as far as she believed.

“Get. Out. NOW!” The female halfway spat, halfway screamed out the words, and let a growl rise up from her throat. She was scared.

He silently wondered what it was about females, or rather; mothers and their instinct to protect their own flesh in the forms of their children. He had not hinted to anything, but he knew she would have been able to take it as a threat, which his little mother naturally did. Her face cracked open and she called for him to get out. He sighed loudly, ignoring Cer’s annoying stare, and got up on his feet, two third tail moving with the increasing wind. They did not know of which ace they were about to throw away. Haku had so much he could offer them, but they were ignorant, simple mortals that did not carry the ability to understand obvious facts. It was okay, he was kind, he could forgive. They failed, but he would make things right again, he would help. Demon or Angel, he guessed he was a bit of both.

“I respect your feelings, Colibri, but don’t let your paranoia get out of hand, a weak pack cannot have a weak leader.” He still did not know their ranks, but he easily imagined one or both being high ranked in the Dahlia hierarchy, and he knew his words would hurt her. He gave a little nod to Cercelee before he turned around, and began to make his way out of the territory. His choice of direction seemed to be random, but he was going north east, to a land claimed by a coyote clan. Small jolts of excitement went through his body, and the demon spoke of symbolism, of crucifixion. Haku would obey and please.

Colibri’s out burst was not unexpected, but Cer jumped a tad at the harshness of her voice all the same. Perhaps knowing how manipulative Haku could be, whether he knew it or not, she had not expect Colibri to really throw him out. Cercelee probably wouldn’t have thrown him out, but it was clear that Colibri knew something that Cercelee didn’t. Haku however, seemed unphased by this all, offering only a slight as his departing words, and a nod to herself. Politely, and as if nothing out of the ordinary had just transpired during their brief little meeting, the rosea returned the nod of Haku.

Now that the male was gone, it was just the two of them again. Honestly, aside from a few passing words here or there, Colibri and Cer hadn’t sat alone together since before they had formed Dahlia de Mai. The incessant need to be accepted and to have her companion nearby had seemingly died off when Colibri had asked Cer to take the co-rank of rosea. It was at that moment Cer let go the image of a mother figure she had held Colibri up to, because now they were just equals, leading and being led together. Turning to Colibri, the navy eyes looked at the older female questioningly. Cer didn’t need to speak, the silence was awkward enough and certainly Colibri knew that Cercelee was left in the dark. Still, if she didn’t speak, Colibri could just wander off, not explain, and Cercelee believed it was best if she was clued in. ”What’s this all about?”
