First post with Nat :3

“LOOK OUT BELOOOW!” bellowed the red-furred puppy as he leapt off the ledge overlooking Dapplebrake Creek. It wasn’t too far of a jump, though if Nathaniel has more watchful guardians, they might have objected to him putting himself in that sort of danger. But instead he was on his own, free to explore the vast Forest of Nod like he usually did. Right now, though, jumping into the creek seemed like much more fun.

The pup landed on all four of his huge paws, causing the water to splash into the air and onto his fur, leaving him soaked. He didn’t mind that at all; if anything, it made his distinctive guffaw even louder as he climbed back up the muddy bank, giggling the whole time. He was a little disappointed that no one seemed to be around to watch him do such a dangerous, cool thing like jumping into the (shallow) creek. Admittedly, Nathaniel could be a bit of a show-off, especially in front of his sister Wraith. And once Talitha’s pups were old enough to go wondering off in the woods, he’d be able to show them his skills, too. He had considered going to visit the pups yesterday but was afraid Talitha would snap at him.

OOC here: Table & Coding © Sorin; Poor Nat having to deal with Symmy; 351 words

Symera moved through the wooded area that surrounded the mansion where she was staying. She had been living in the clan for a few days now. She had been taken in by a warrior and that made her even more determined to prove herself. But for now she was walking about the lands of the clan. She kept her gaze on the ground in order to look for another doll to bring back to get her guardian to play with her with. She already had a Mr. Squishy but Mr. Squishy could use a friend. She had found Mr. Squishy inside of the forest outside of Inferni so she thought she would try looking inside of Inferni to see if there might be something not so far away from where he was staying.

The small girl's attention ended up being diverted at the sound of laughter. She had no idea who it was but she intended on finding out. When she got close all she could focus on was an overpowering stench. It was one that she knew and hated with a passion. What was such a thing doing here? It had to be trespassing. That had to be the only reason for it. From what she knew such things weren't allowed in here. They weren't allowed to cross the borders. Such an ugly monster it was.

"It stinks." The words were stated bluntly, clear disgust in her voice. She wouldn't even favor him be recognizing him with a pronoun. She even took it a step further for when she moved closer she made to try to push against the larger male and nudge him back into the water that he had just crawled out of. The boy had the unfortunate scent of being over more than half wolf and such is what Symera had picked up on. It was the thing that stood out the most to her. So of course she acted on that assumption. She thought him to be a trespassing wolf and therefore had no right to be so close to her where she was staying at.

He was just about to jump in again when he caught a whiff of the older pup. He hadn’t seen her before, though since he had never been to the mansion he assumed she lived there. Nat wagged his tail happily, glad that there were other puppies in the pack that he could play with. Wraith could get boring after a while, and Auntie Tali’s pups were only a few days old. Maybe there were even more puppies in the mansion, and they could come and play with him or watch him jump into the river and cheer for how brave he was.

“Hiya!” he barked in greeting. “Wanna come an’ play wiff me?” But then the girl said something that confused Nathaniel: It stinks. “What stinks?” he asked, looking around at the forest and sniffing wildly. “I don’ smell anyfing. Whaterya taw-kin’ abow?” There wasn’t anything that smelled bad as far as he could tell, though the female could have used a bath. Who took care of her, anyways? Her mommy? Her daddy? Her auntie? He told himself to ask either Talitha or Valkyrie once he got back to the caves. But then he remembered that he should probably ask what her name was.

“Hey, what’s yer n-?” The rusty-furred pup stopped when he realized the girl was pushing him towards the edge of the cliff. She was going to push him into the stream! “Hey, stop dat!” he growled. “Whaterya doin’?” He didn’t understand that the girl thought he was a trespasser, since he thought he was more than half-coyote, with both Hybrid and his disappearing mother being mostly coyotes themselves. He shoved roughly back at the smaller pup, not caring if he hurt her. If he did, it would just prove that he was as strong as his daddy Hybrid, the trained warrior.

Bravery was not leaping from cliffs where no danger was present. Bravery was staring into the face of a full grown wolf and standing one's ground when you were outmatched. This antic would receive no sort of praise from Symera because she viewed it in a different light than the boy did. But then again she didn't even see the boy as coyote. All she could smell was the wolf on the boy and couldn't even recognize a hint of coyote radiating from him. He didn't belong here in the slightest. The only thing he had earned was death to trespass in so far. Wouldn't Halo be so proud of her for slaying her first wolf because it had so stupidly lingered upon Inferni's ground? The small girl couldn't wait to drag back the corpse in order to show it off.

"It stinks." The girl repeated her earlier assessment of the situation. Such a stupid and stinky thing didn't deserve any more clarification than that. If it was too dense to figure it out on its own then it would never know because Symera wasn't about to explain herself. She figured that the stinky creatures should know just what they were just like Symmy knew exactly what she was. And actually Symera took proper care of her hygiene. Sure, she played with dead animals but she forced her dolls to take a bath and remain clean as well. After all she didn't want to become a stinky and so she wouldn't allow it of her dolls either.

The small girl stumbled back and fell over as she was shoved back against but she didn't let it get her down. Really it was a pitiful notion if you thought you were a warrior just because you could beat up someone smaller than yourself. That sounded more like a bully than a true warrior. It wasn't hard to be stronger than someone smaller than yourself. Still Symera didn't let that get her down. No, she got right back up again but with a growl this time. "Stinky needs a bath." The words were grumbled out as she was once again trying to push the larger boy into the water. Why should he develop a sudden aversion to it if he was just jumping into it moments before?

Nathaniel had no knowledge that the smell of wolf clung to his body; as far as he knew, he was as coyote as Hybrid and the rest of Inferni. He didn’t even know what wolf smelled like…or, at least, he thought he didn’t. In fact, he was beginning to think that the girl trying to push him into the river was actually an intruder, not a member of his pack. Why else would she try to harm him like this? It wasn’t like play-fighting with his sister, where it was all fun and pretend. This was real, with actual malice in this pup’s intentions. Still, she smelled familiar, like she wasn’t from the caves, but maybe from the mansion or some other place in the territory that Nathaniel had yet to go to.

It took a moment for him to figure out what the girl was referring to. And he certainly wasn’t happy with being called “it.” “My name is Nafaniel,” he told the girl firmly (he still had some trouble pronouncing the “th” sound in his name). “An’ I don’ stink.” He didn’t smell, did he? He and the adults he lived with always managed to keep his hygiene reasonable, and with the exception of his muddy paws from climbing up and down the banks, all the dirt on him had been washed off with the stream.

He had thought the push would be enough for the girl to leave him alone, so he yelped in surprise when she got back up and once again tried to push him in. She managed to push him a few steps backwards, but the larger pup stood his ground, digging into the muddy soil with his paws and preventing himself from tumbling over the ledge. He loved jumping into the river, but only on his own accord; he wasn’t going to be embarrassingly pushed into it like a doll by some she-pup he had just met. “I told you, my name is Nafaniel, not Stinky,” he repeated. “I live wiff Auntie Tow-iffa and Auntie Vow-caw-rie in da caves. I da son of Hybwid,” he added quickly, as though that would somehow make whatever body odor the girl was smelling stink less. His father was well-known in Inferni, wasn’t he? In the red-furred pup’s opinion, he was the greatest warrior the clan had ever seen…but then again, Nat hadn’t met Halo yet. Or any of the other warriors and fighters in the pack.

The only thing Symera could smell was the wolf. In her mind there were no such things as hybrids. You were either a glorious coyote or a stinky wolf. And well, the boy obviously reeked of the latter in her opinion. She had no idea that there were more canine breeds than that because she had never been exposed to them. So all she knew was that she was a coyote and the other was a wolf and therefore an intruder. She had no clue that the clan she thought to exist purely of coyotes were mostly hybrids actually. So she was still lost in the fantasy of Inferni that she had learned of through tales and whisperings from the outside.

She didn't care what his name was. Stinkies didn't have a name in her opinion. They weren't actual beings that mattered. They were just a plague that needed to be gotten rid of. And if she had her way it was a plague that she would be certain to eradicate one body at a time, starting with this body of course. In her mind she was doing the work of Inferni and getting rid of one that had sneaked in and didn't actually belong here.

The names that were spouted out meant nothing to her. She didn't recognize any of them. She hadn't gotten around to meeting everyone in the clan. And well, most of her discussions with Halo involved the destruction of stinkies. This encounter would be another such discussion that she would end up telling about. The girl hoped to tack on a victory at the end. She wanted to have a corpse to bring Halo back to in order to show off.

The small girl continued to shove at the larger male for she wasn't the sort to give up easily. Actually she never gave up because she acted out in reckless abandon. She knew exactly how unfair life was. If she was to day then she was determined to go out with a fight, and hopefully taking a stinky to demise with her. So yes, she wasn't likely to give up until she completed the task that she had set forth in her own mind.

Oh silly, stupid Nathaniel. Word Count: 350

Nathaniel was growing impatient with the fact that the girl didn’t seem to hear his words at all. Why wasn’t she listening to him? The red-furred pup was used to being heard and acknowledged in some way, even if that meant his ideas getting rejected by his father or one of his aunts. This other pup didn’t even chastise him for what he said; she just continued to try to push him off the cliff. Having no idea who this girl was or why she was really doing this, he was beginning to come to a conclusion that she was some sort of intruder of Inferni. Yes, that had to be it. If she were from Inferni, she would certainly know about his father Hybrid, the greatest soldier in the clan, and at the mere mention of him she would back off and leave Nat alone.

Of course, it would be difficult to alert anyone that there was an intruder if that intruder were attacking him, like Symera was now. Nat would need to find a way to escape…the stream! Of course! He would not be shamed by being pushed off the cliff by a she-pup smaller and weaker than him, but if he knocked her down and jumped into the water himself, it would make for a very spectacular escape. In the young puppy’s mind, it made sense.

Gathering up his strength, he roughly shoved back at the girl, intending on pushing her to the ground. Then he ran, rather clumsily, away from her to the end of the ledge, where he leapt down into the stream. As he splashed down into the creek, he howled, “Intruder! Intruder by da creek!” He was hesitant to run towards the caves where he could directly alert the adults there, worried that the girl would escape by then. Instead, his little voice echoed around the trees, not loud enough for those all the way at the mansion to hear but certainly in earshot of anyone in the forest, if there were any other coyotes there. Whether anyone would take the alarms of the boy seriously was a different matter.

Actually Hybrid was more of a nobody now than he had been previously. Symera's caretaker was one of importance and higher ranked than the coyote that Nathaniel thought so highly of. So it wasn't so silly to not have heard of him when he was just another member of the clan and had no power. The only name that really needed to be known was that of the one in the highest leadership position and none of the others actually mattered as much. Besides this boy had lived here longer so of course he had time to end up getting to know more of the other clan members and get to know them. That was something that Symera would have to work on eventually though.

The girl stumbled as she was pushed for it would only make sense with someone larger than herself bullying her. But she was quick to gather herself and to give chase. "Good stinky, tell on itself." Because that is exactly how she saw him. Some stupid wolf that thought they could prance around on Inferni's lands and get away with it. Even though she was young and small she was of the blood thirsty sort that rumor says the clan is full of. She hadn't exactly met many like that but that certainly wasn't going to change her outlook. No, her hatred was too strong to ever be slackened.

The male really didn't have to worry about the small female escaping. Why should he when she chose to follow him instead? She wasn't going to let him off the hook that easily. In her mind he only had two options, flee or die. Of course she would wish for the latter one herself. The girl aimed to try and pounce down onto the back of the larger boy, or to actually have the bulk of her slight weight to land upon the male's head really.
