Anyone welcome Smile Come and play with Soran! Big Grin

It was early afternoon, the sun was still hanging high in the sky, the bright orb beginning it's lazy descent back to the horizon, hiding behind clouds here and there as they drifted past. The clouds were fluffy and white, but there were a few flatter, much darker clouds hanging over the horizon from the west, suggesting that there might be rain later into the evening. Here and there birds twittered and called to one another from the boughs of tall trees; the gnarled branches providing support for the little creatures that hopped about from bough to bough, chirping loudly and cheerfully. The leaves were beginning to fade in colour now, a sure sign that Autumn was not far away now, the once bright and vivid greens beginning to turn at the edges, changing to vibrant oranges and reds. They fluttered in the breeze, most still having enough of a hold on the branches not to fall, but a few broke free and fluttered to the ground, these were faster developers it seemed, they were already the bright oranges and yellows of the Autumnal season. Here and there the last flowers of the Summer were wafting in the breeze, soon the Summer blooms would die, giving way to those blossoms which appeared in Autumn, which would, in turn give way to nothingness as Winter closed an icy grasp across the lands. But for now the day was warm and the few last flowers were standing brightly and proudly in the sunlight. A few small aminals peered out from their hiding places, venturing between the patches of longer grass, skirting away from the dark figure that was sat in the centre of this clearing in the trees. Soran had been sat there since the dawn, having risen early from her bed, something which was not unusual for her, the recent events, the attack on her home, had made her edgy and nervous, so she had gone patrolling the borders for an hour or so, before moving into the lands again and setting about tasks that needed to be completed. For a large part of the morning she had sat and sharpened her hunting blade, it had proven itself as a good throwing weapon and she wanted to to be wickedly sharp if there was another attack, this way she could help to defend her home and her pack.

Once she was satisfied that the blade was sharp enough, having tested it on a passin rabbit, she had cleaned it and put it away, setting about making the rabbit into lunch, soon she had several strips of meat and a small fire, she hung the strips of meat over the fire, not really to cook them, more to dry them, she had gained a fancy for dried meat when she had been on her travels, especially as it kept better than fresh meat; there was no risk of rotting or food poisoning with dried meat, well far less risk. The sable lady ate the rest of the meat raw, making short work of the rest of the carcass, she carefully cleaned the fur and placed it into the canvas satchel which was never far from her side, being sure that the fur would no doubt prove useful at some point or another. The rest of the carcass she tossed onto the fire, for a while she simply sat and watched the flickering flames, she was a rather impressive sight sat there, her long legs crossed beneath her, her curled sable mane with what was slowly becoming a silver streak near her temple, tied in a thick braid, held together with a thin strip of leather. Her necklaces and earrings glinted in the light as she moved her head fractionally here and there, her jade eyes never left the fire. Soon though she tired of this and reached into her canvas satchel, deft fingers rummaged for only a moment before they closed upon what they were looking for, the silver tubes that, once connected, made up her flute. The jet female carefully slotted the pieces together, before raising the instrument to her lips, playing a soft tune as she waited for her meat to smoke and dry out satisfactorily. She felt safe here, despite what had happened, she felt at peace here, she had her family nearby, she had her pack, her home, she enjoyed it here, despite her troubles. And as she had shown by sitting and sharpening the knife, she would fight to protect her home and her loved ones.

Tal wanted to go visit Soran, to tell her he'd taken a mate. She was the closest thing he had to a mother. (As far as he knew, that was.) His tail wagged as he approached the border. Standing on the border, he let a soft howl ring out, asking politely for Soran to come greet him. He placed his hands in the pockets of his jeans, smiling blissfully. He had plans for his mate, his wonderful Sky. He wanted to introduce her to Soran, his own mothers great love. But first he wanted to talk to the obsidian lady, to ask advice about minor things.

His eyes turned to the slightly cloudy sky, smiling gently. he'd wondered for a while if he would end up losing her to Shaw. And yet, he hadn't. In fact, the hybrid woman had willingly chosen him over Shaw, had told him herself that she no longer loved the former leader. It had made his day. He closed his eyes, waiting for Soran's approach, humming a soft Irish tune. It was the one he'd first sung for Sky.

"Come over the hills, my bonnie Irish lass. Come over the hills to your darling. You choose the road, love, and I'll make the vow, that I'll be your true love forever..." He laughed to himself, feeling more happy than he had for a very long time. He hadn't been this happy since Willow, his younger sister, had been born. Everything after that had been a nightmare, one that was slowly fading with time.

In fact, if it weren't for his own son, he might think his time in Michigan had been a bad dream. Liam was the only tangible reminder of his time there. Everything else was a nightmare, it seemed. In many ways, it seemed as if he'd never left Souls. He chuckled at himself again. "Too many love stories, my friend. I've read too many love stories."

Hope the slight PP is ok here, if not let me know and I can change it <3

The sable lady was quite enjoying being sat in the quiet, the only sound being the gentle soft music that she was playing, with the occasional twitter from the birds, they were calling back to the music from the flute, mistaking some of the notes for birds twittering in song to them. This was amusing Soran, the idea that in their little minds they thought that the silver tube was emitting friendly sounds, at least they were an appreciative audience after all. The quiet was disturbed by a howl, the jet pelted female instantly stopped playing, her green eyes narrowing, perhaps it was trouble, quickly she disassembled the flute, putting it back into her bag, removing the incredibly sharp knife from the bag, clutching it, she began to rise, slipping the bag over her shoulder, her ears flattening against her skull, she was nervous, with all that had happened in the lands, she could not afford to not be ready to defend her home at a moment's notice, she had not been really there when the attack had happened and both little Fia and Anu had been captured, she could not bear for that to happen again, what if this time it was Deuce? Or Charm? Or her bronze granddaughter, no she had to protect them, she had to protect her entire pack. At this moment she realised how silly she was being, the voice was familiar to her, and no invader would politely call for her by name to go and meet them. No, this was someone that she knew well, someone that she would consider a friend, it took her a moment of thought before she realised who it was, she knew that she knew the voice, and now she knew who it was, it was Tal, the male that in another lifetime might have been her son, the pale male with the bi-coloured eyes who reminded her so much of his mother. She smiled, knowing that he had come all of this way to see her warmed her heart, she was wanted and cared for by at least one wolf within these lands, this was enough to make her happy that she had returned, she had made the right descision. She carefully put the knife away, back into it's leather holster and into her canvas satchel, she would not be needing it, this call was one of a friend most certianly, she only needed the knife for those who would prove themselves to be enemies. Once the knife was away she moved swiftly towards the borders where the call had come from, trotting at a quick pace, brushing a loose strand of mane from her eyes as she walked.

Soon she could hear the soft singing of the male, this brought a smile to her lips, soon she came within sight of him, there he stood, he seemed very happy himself. She approached him and pulled him into a tight hug, clinging to him for a moment.
Hello my darling! How are you? Why have you come all of this way to see me? It is a wonderful surprise. She declared, breaking the hug and grinning at him, she was indeed very glad to see him. The sable Patrician wondered for a moment why he had come to see her, surely if he had known his mother was in the lands he would have called for her himself, rather than for the sable lady, especially if he had news worthy of coming all this way to see her. Perhaps her pale angel, her former mate had not been to see him yet? Yes that must be the case, a smile played across her lips again as she looked at him, this would be a wonderful surprise for him then, she was looking forward to seeing his face when his mother appeared over the horizon, the ebony female herself was enjoying having her back, although it had created an awkward choice for the female, one she still had not made, choosing between Deuce, the female who she had loved all this time, who she had always loved and Charm who was a potential new lover, something that could be allowed to blossom, this was a difficult choice for the sable lady, she knew that no matter how she chose someone would be hurt in the end, she didn't want to cause either of the marvellous ladies that had enetered her life any pain. She could not deny though that she loved the pale lady, she had learned to live with it a long time ago, assuming that she would always love her but that she would never be able to have the pale female, she had left and then ended up mated to Lucifer and then she had left again, it had always seemed to the jet patrician that they were destined to love one another but never be together, this had changed when the pale lady had appeared on her doorstep, on her birthday no less, this had given the female a spark of hope, the idea that someway, somehow, the pair might finally be able to be together and be happy, like they should have been destined to be from the start. She just hoped that this was not life's usual trick, giving her everything she wanted and making her happy, just to make the pain more potent when it was all taken away from her again.
It is good that you're here Tal; I have a surprise for you actually. The lady said with a grin, raising her dark head she let out a call, making sure not to mention Deuce's name as to keep the surprise a secret until the moment of the reveal. Her call simply stated that Tal was here, using his full name, knowing that her voice and Tal's name combined would more than likely bring her former mate running. She turned to the male and grinned, hopefully your surprise will be along very soon.

She was gathering lavender again. It was still warm enough she slept outside, on the porch, but she knew soon she'd need to choose a room and begin the process of setting it up for herself. In a way she was disappointed that Soran hadn't wanted her to live in her room, but it was okay it really was. She understood the two of them needed time, they couldn't just jump headfirst into the relationship they'd once shared. Her dark love's voice rang out, and the woman's ears perked. Soran was saying that Tal was on the border? The woman let go of the fragrant lavender bouquet she was holding and took off running for the border.

She arrived on the border, taking in the sight of her son, tall and noble. Okay, well, taller than her. By a few inches. The boy was wearing blue jeans and a goofy grin, and her heart contracted painfully. She rushed forward, letting out a soft cry of disbelief and joy as she squeezed her son tightly. The boy had always been the mirror image of her, and now was hardly any different. He was slim and slender like her, had the same creamy white fur, and the same eye coloring. He even had an ear pierced. She hugged him again, then pulled back, studying him.

Her tail was wagging furiously as she stared lovingly at her son. "Where have you been? How have you been? I've missed you. Where's Liam, Soran told me about him." Questions tumbled out of her mouth one after the other as she stared at him as though he would vanish. She let out another overjoyed squeal and hugged him again, grinning widely.

He was grinning at Soran, cocking his head curiously as she said she had a surprise for him. His tail wagged behind him lazily. And then there was a blur of motion, emotions rushing through his as the slender form of his mother embraced him. He hugged her tightly, his throat tight with the joy that was coursing through him. As she studied him, he studied her. He couldn't help but to notice the silver at her temples, the additional scars on her face, the deeper scar on her arm. He hugged his mother again, having a hard time believing the former Shaman was there.

"I came here earlier this year, mom. I didn't know you were back. When did you come back? Did you know Phoenix Valley is gone now? Noah is further up north with Ichika. Liam is back in D'Arte lands." He was grinning, his tail wagging so hard it could have cooled a room full of Luperci. He grinned at Soran, then at his mother. "I came to share good news with Soran, and now I can share it with you, Mom. I took a mate. Her name is Sky Katruk, and she's the main medic for the pack. Ironically, I'm the secondary medic."

His joy was tempered by what he didn't say. They had sworn their mate-ship would be different than his parent's. Neither would cheat, neither would lie. As far as he knew, drugs and alcohol would never be an issue. His eyes clouded over, a dark spot in his joy. Lucifer. He doubted that his mother knew yet. "Lucifer is dead, Mom." Still, in his mind, Lucifer had died in the great fire. He'd never really been a dad to the pale boy after that. And the things he'd done to his sons, abusing Noah, raping Tal. Hell, Lucifer had almost killed Noah the one time.

Yay, family all together Smile

The pale female came racing into view and as usual the sable female's heart skipped a beat; she had no idea why her former mate had such an effect on her, she knew that she would always love her, but seeing her always came with such emotion, a physical reaction, her heart always began to beat too fast, joy would always course through her body, seeming to replace her blood, becoming the life force that kept her alive. Soran could not help but want to reach out and touch the pale woman, wanting to pull her into a tight embrace as soon as she was close enough, but she managed to control herself, she had to allow the pale female to embrace her son first, after all she was here to see him. The pair had clearly not seen one another for such a long time, they both seemed overjoyed to see one another, a wide smile broke her face as she watched the pair hug one another, pleased that she had been the one to call them together. She stood tall and watched the pair exchange small words, Deuce asking about Liam, Soran had enjoyed telling her news of her sons, having seen them before she had, although she could not help but find it odd that she had not gone to find them, but then again the pale lady had obviously been travelling for so long, she must have been tired and needing to get used to her home once again before leaving it. The male spoke, passing on the news of his stuttering brother who already had wormed his way into the sable lady's heart, she could not help but feel a great motherly affection for him. He asked how long she had been back, Soran could have answered that, she had come to her on her eight birthday after all, Soran had a head for dates, she could have told the male exactly how long his mother had been back, but again she decided against it, wanting her to tell him, after all it was her news to tell, the pale male with the bi-coloured eyes was her son, no matter how Soran wished that she could call him hers as well. As the male passed on his news, the ebony patrician grinned, what wonderful news! The female loved hearing such good news, it warmed her heart to know that the alabaster male was being cared for and was happy, that he had found someone to love him and be loved by him, the sable lady could not help but be delighted, love was always a gift, it was wonderful news.

The female lunged forwards and wrapped the pale male in a warm hug once again, grinning at him as she hugged him tightly, she was really overjoyed for him.
Oh what fantastic news! I am so happy for you Tal, I hope to meet her soon, she will of course need mine and your mother's approval. Oh how very wonderful! The female exclaimed, chuckling as she made the joke about the pair of females vetting his new mate, she trusted the male's judgement, he seemed like he had a good view of who was good and who was bad. Hopefully he was not like his mother, falling for someone who would eventually become a poisonous influence, the sable lady could never deny her hatred for Lucifer, not after what he had done to his own children, she had always thought that he must have had some hidden niceness that had attracted Deuce to him, but now she was certain that there was nothing nice about him at all. As the sable female pulled away from the hug, she reached for the pale female's hand, wanting to lace her fingers through hers, to just be able to touch her, she missed being able to touch her whenever she felt like it, even the smallest contact was enough to put a smile on her face that she could not rid herself of for hours, she just wanted to be close to the female. At the news of Lucifer's death the female's ears flattened against her skull, she had not know this, she had assumed that he had just left. She was glad that he was dead if she were honest, never being able to forgive him for the hurt he had caused, not to herself, nor to Deuce, or for their children; if it hadn't been enough that he had taken Deuce away and then treated her badly, then the hurt he had caused his own children was more than enough to make the female really loathe him, there was a pit of boiling hatred in her stomach and she could not fight it down. It was almost a relief to know that he was dead, for she feared that if he had ever come here then she would not have been able to control herself, at least this way he had not died by her hands. However she was concerned for Deuce, she did not know how she felt about him after all, after all this time sometimes the bad faded away, she did not know the ins and outs of their relationship either, the pair of them might have been very happy together at times. She doubted this, but the ebony female could not help but worry for her former pale mate, she didn't want her to suffer through any pain or hurt, she wanted to wrap her up and protect her from all of the evils of the world. She squeezed the pale hand she was holding gently, looking at the pale female, concern crossing her face as she looked from mother to son.
I didn't know that, are you alright Deuce? She asked, knowing full well that Tal did not need comforting, the way that he had spoken about his father had already suggested to her that he did not care whether or not his father had died, he had caused so much pain for his family after all.

Her heart swelled as her son spoke. She only let go of him as Soran embraced him. When Soran took her hand, she laced her fingers with the dark woman's, squeezing gently. She reached her other hand out, taking Tal's hand happily. Noah was here, further north. She'd have to travel up that way. After this conflict between packs was over, that was. She knew what it was like to need to protect one's pack. The white woman was as protective of her new home as she was her own pack once upon a time. "Tal, I am so proud of you. You have grown up so much..." Her tail continued to wag, right up until he shared his other news with her.

Her face fell into a thoughtful frown as she digested the news about Lucifer. He had caused her and her family so much pain over the years. Everything after the great fire, really. The best thing he'd given her were her boys, and he'd tried to take them from her many times. Once, in the original pack with Conri and Nani, and then again after they were older. She'd intervened herself when she'd been his captive, protecting Noah. She felt sorrow that the male she had once loved was dead, but it was tempered by the joy of knowing her sons would be safe from his evil.

Deuce started as Soran squeezed her hand and spoke. She returned the slight pressure, and lifted her head. "I dislike speaking ill of the dead, but we all know the Lucifer I loved died in the fire. The Lucifer who came to Twilight Vale was a stranger to not just me, but you and Noah as well. I am sorry he passed, but I will not mourn him long." She shrugged, lightly squeezing her son's hand as she met his eyes. She didn't know what evils the fallen male had done to their son Tal, but she could tell he didn't mourn his father either.

She brightened as she returned to more pleasant subjects. "Now, Tal, when do Soran and I get to meet this lovely mate of yours?" She grinned at him, her tail resuming it's wagging.

((WC:343))
He watched his mother and Soran, wondering what -if anything- was going on between them. He didn't fail to note how they both held hands as if they had been doing it their entire lives. He knew Deuce always spoke about Soran wistfully, a note of unfulfilled longing in her voice. Deuce had loved Soran deeply, deeper than Tal had understood. Yet, now that he had his sweet Sky he understood well what it was like to love so deeply. He had fought for Sky and won. He would walk across flames for Sky, he would get her the moon if she asked for it. He was pleased that both his mom and her dark love wanted to meet his sweetheart.

His mom's words about Lucifer stilled him for a moment. Soran knew he needed no comforting. He hadn't told her or anyone else how it had been Lucifer who had raped him and marked him as property. He probably never would. It was a point of very deep shame that he had been violated like that. He gladly followed along as his mom changed the subject. His tail resumed it's lazy sway, a crooked smile emerging.

"You can meet her anytime you want, Mom. I'm hoping to have a small celebration in honor of our official mate-ship soon. She doesn't know it yet," he laughed, "But I have many surprises in store for her." He did, too. She was his now, and he had small gifts he'd been saving. Small trinkets and the like, pretty things he found in his wandering in Halifax. They would have their ups and downs, but he wanted to make her happier than she'd ever been. He knew better than to expect every day to be perfect. They were both stubborn in their own ways, and they both had a temper. His took far more to make him lose it, as Shawchert had discovered, but it did happen. "You are welcome to attend, I doubt our alpha would have a problem with it. Our packs are friends."

Soran was concerned for Deuce, she knew the trouble that Lucifer had caused her in the past, knew that pain and suffering her had caused both her and her sons, she could not bear the idea that she still loved him after all this time. The sable female did not know why but she was still jealous, after all of these years, after another litter and another mate for both herself and Deuce, for some reason the idea that the deceased male still held her heart made the fires of rage burn even more harshly in the pit of her stomach. She had always been jealous, and Lucifer seemed to have been jealous of her as well, they had never been close and soon they had been enemies of a sort, not being able to stand to be in one another's presence for any length of time, he had once even tried to attack her with a knife when he had been in a drunken state; that was when Soran had really began to hate him, knowing that this violent brute held the female she loved's heart and was abusing such a gift. She would have never treated her former mate like that, she would have worshipped the pale woman with the bicoloured eyes. She had always loved Deuce and no matter what happened between them now, whether or not they allowed themselves to try again, she was certain that she always would. As the pale female spoke she nodded her dark head, glad to hear that she was not fooled, that time had not glossed over all of the atrocities that the male had committed in his time within the lands, his time with Deuce. The ebony Patrician's jade gaze moved to the pale male that stood with them, she knew that he did not care for his father at all, he probably felt the same as she did, almost pleased that he had died, he had known about the pain that he had caused, he had been the one to tell the sable female about Lucifer always beating up Noah after all. She gave a slight sigh and reached for the pale male's hand as well, as his mother had done, she smiled at him, trying to comfort him, even though the pallid male hated his father, he was still his father after all. She gave Deuce's hand another squeeze, looking at her and giving her a slight smile.
I understand Deuce, if you need to talk to me I cannot guarentee that I shall be upset about his death, but I do understand how the death of a loved one can hurt. She said, it was the closest that she had ever come to being nice about the ebony male, she doubted that she would have been able to muster any kind words about him, even something as simple as "he had nice fur I suppose."

Soon the subject changed to much happier and brighter things, Tal's new mateship. The jet patrician could not deny that it was completely wonderful, she was overjoyed for the pallid male, they all needed some good news, what with the current turmoil within the pack lands, she gave Deuce's hand another squeeze as she asked when the pair of them would be allowed to meet the male's new mate. She had asked as if the pair were once again a couple, it was wonderful, although the sable female's heart was still torn in two, she was still confused over what to do, whether to allow a new love to blossom or fall back into the mateship that had once made her so happy. She did feel that Deuce and herself had never really had a chance, they had not had their full time together, they had missed out on so much, fate dragging them apart, perhaps if they tried again they might be able to have the experiences that they had missed out on, be able to have the love that they had meant to have all that time ago, it was true that their hearts belonged to one another, perhaps they always would, perhaps it was time to give their feelings a chance. The sable female did not know though, it was so strange to her, the idea that she had not been looking for love, avoiding it in fact and two females had both come into her life and brought these feelings to light once again. She listened as the male spoke, suggesting that they might have a party to celebrate their mateship, the female's jet tail began to wag as she looked up him.
That sounds delightful Tal, when are you thinking of holding the celebration? I am sure that Savina would not mind us leaving the pack for a short while to come and celebrate with you. What is her name? How long have you known her? There are many unanswered questions here my boy. The sable Aatte woman said, chuckling slightly again, smiling up at the male that in another world might have been her son, he still could be she supposed, it she once again opened her heart to the pale female next to her. She ached to have the female back in her life once again, to be mated to her, to be able to love her as they had meant to do from the start. But she was cautious, she did not want to hurt Charm, or have herself hurt, only time would tell she supposed.
