10.Character profile or three writing examples:

Example 1:

Faeli walked into the forest, all of her senses alert. The crinkling of dead leaves beneath her paws seemed to bounce off of the trees and echo into the distance.
Faeli stopped abruptly, her eyes wide and searching. She sniffed the ground, and as she did so, a small snarl rose in her throat. The fur around her neck bristled, and without further hesitation, Faeli started running,
Howls sounded behind her. The pattering of reckless paws seemed to shake the forest. The trees, with their leafy green canopies, sheltered Faeli from the rain that started to fall.
What started as a small drizzle turned into a vicious storm... and yet, Faeli did not stop running.
If one had crept through the bushes and brush, they would of seen a female wolf running. And if that someone looked even closer, they would of seen a band of three black wolves chasing her.
Finally, Faeli's muscles started to burn. She was losing energy, and she had to stop. She skidded to a halt in the middle of a clearing and spun around to face her oncoming opponents.
They walked into the clearing and surrounded her, their sleek black bodies poised to pounce, their slavering jaws open and snarling.

Example 2:

Faeli growled, her amber eyes burning with hatred. She stared coldly at her sister, a dusky black fae with bright blue eyes.
“Why did you lie to me, sister?” Faeli asked, the words rolling off of her tongue. “Why did you keep this secret for so long?”
“You never would’ve listened, Faeli. I tried to tell you!” Kecha snarled. “You always were hot-headed.”
Faeli felt a growl rise from her throat. Her eyes burned with untamed fury, her blood pumped through her veins, her fur bristled. She stood there, staring into her sister’s eyes.
“I’m so sorry, sister, but I will have to kill you.” Ketcha continued.
“Listen to me, Ketcha,” Faeli snarled, stepping forward so that her nose was in her sister’s face, “you are no more threat to me than a newborn lamb.”
“Ha!” Ketcha laughed. “You think you are so-“
Her words were cut off as a blood-chilling scream echoed through the woods. It was Ketcha’s scream, the scream of death.
Faeli dropped her sister’s dead body with a thunk. It rolled down the slight hill and into the river, landing with a soft splash. Faeli watched the carcass float down the stream and out of sight, sadness in her eyes.

Example 3:

Faeli raced across the ground, ashes falling into her face. Flames reached towards the heavens, fire blocked every path. The groan of trees as they fell prey to the heat echoed throughout the burning forest.
“Ketcha? Where are you?” Faeli called, her eyes reflecting the disaster. She had searched every path, every nook, and every place where a wolf could shelter from the wall of fire.
Finally, she saw a black pelt flash across her vision in a flurry of dead leaves. With no further hesitation, Faeli followed the wolf.
The shadow led her to a clearing, dotted with green clumps of grass. The wolf finally turned around.
“Ketcha!” Faeli barked, filled with joy that she had found her sister at last. She wagged her tail, but then stopped. Her sister’s eyes were filled with cold hate and viciousness. Faeli backed away, suddenly alarmed.
Ketcha chuckled and stepped forward. “Silly, silly Faeli.” She laughed. “You never knew?”
Faeli’s eyes widened as the curtain of fire advanced behind her. She faced her sister, her face twisted in puzzlement. “I never knew what?”
“That I killed our parents! I sent that loner to kill them, and poor little Faeli had no idea.”
Faeli growled as she realized Ketcha’s plan. “You’re trying to kill me.”

Welcome to 'Souls!

Congratulations! You've been accepted into the craziest bunch of roleplayers on the vast Internet! We encourage you to keep checking out our information; you can find a wealth of it on the RP Guide. Don't feel pressured to read it all at once -- the guide is a huge resource and is meant to be used as a reference.

If You've Joined the Game As a...
  • ... Loner, do begin considering which of the packs you'd like to join. Survival as a Loner is less realistic -- wolves and other canines are generally social creatures, preferring to live in a pack structure!
  • ... IC pack joiner, you can now begin posting -- you may start your IC pack joining thread whenever you're ready. Make sure you check the pack information to see if the leadership requires anything extra from you!
  • ... OOC pack joiner, the leader still has to respond here before you can start roleplaying -- don't worry, though; if you're rejected from the pack you'll be titled as a Loner, and you're free to pursue other packs or the same one later.
Post-Joining Process
Mandatory:
  • Make an In Character post within five days. Post a thread request to get started, or consider starting or replying to an open thread.
  • Please let us know in the Absentee Thread if you plan to be absent for more than four days.
  • Keep reading! While there's only a minimum of three topics you have to read to join the game, we provide a wealth of information for a reason -- we expect players to read and reference this material often while they roleplay at 'Souls.
Preferred:
  • If you're leaving us, please try to let us know in the Player Updates forum. There is no penalty for leaving; you're free to re-join at any time later.
Still Need a Bit of Help?

Post any questions you may have in the Questions and Help forum. Check the FAQ first, though! The Mentors can assist you with writing, roleplaying, and understanding 'Souls concepts. Failing all else, contact a staff member.

If you need help getting adjusted to your pack, you should talk to your pack leader! They can help you to understand the pack's rank system and how to get a better rank, as well as direct you to plots, potential thread partners, and active members of the pack who may be interested in engaging you.
