When the female smelled the blood in the air it was like being hit with a wave of drunken joy. She loved that scent, the smell of lifeblood beginning to spill to the ground. She reacted quickly when the buck attempted to attack the latched male and initiated her own grasp. Gripping her teeth into the flesh on his shoulder she helped Zalen take down the buck who now didn't know which to attack. It wouldn’t be long before the beast fell lifeless and its eyes went dead. Saxif started her internal prayer of thanks to the beast just as she had been taught. She sat with her eyes closed for a moment her lips were moving but nothing was being said. This beast gave his life for them and she was thankful for nothing brought together wolves more than a successful hunt. She wouldn’t let any beast fall with out thanking their spirit and wishing them well in the spirit world.

Finally she rounded the creature and bumped her side to Zalen’s. We make a good team. She smiled and started to lick the blood from his muzzle to show her joy. She then gave a shift of her head to the side an offer for the male to take the first feasting bite. It had been his kill and she was glowing with an accomplishment of not only mending her troubles with him but helping in this as well, it was the best type of offer in her heart. Dig in you deserve it. She lolled her tongue from her maw and awaited the secui male to eat before digging in herself.

The large form of the buck heaved underneath his grasp but was quelled quickly by the force of nature that was Saxif. Together, the two of them held until the spirit of the deer fled the body and it became still. Zalen finally released it, his jaws stiff from holding on so tightly. He ran his pink tongue around his blood stained lips, enjoying the wonderful metallic taste. Saxif moved to his side and bumped against him, complimenting their successful and Zalen pressed his head against her neck affectionately after she licked his jaw, Yes, well done Saxif!

He looked down at their prize, a full grown three point buck. This kill would feed the two of them for several days and he made a mental note to bring the carcass back to his den to divide the meat amongst the two of them after they had feasted here. Saxif bade him to eat and he did so, his stomach already rejoicing from the taste of the blood. He moved quickly to the thick hind quarters, large canines cutting through fur and flesh light knives. The meat was sweet and tender, still hot from the chase, and steam arose from it into the cool air.

Zalen glanced over at Saxif, his whole face now red, concealing his eye mark completely, and gave her a look that said “Join me!” before he himself dug in once more.
