WC:3+ Mooommy! Bonding times. <33

There was warmth all around, coming from the plush white fur of the big wolf laying curled up on her bed. One of the babies was white as snow with little sprinkles of gray thrown in here and there. They looked so good together, fur blending and both were stunning creatures. It was clear that the woman was the mother of the baby, unlike the other two pups who bore darker colored coats. But then the little one opened his eyes and they looked nothing like his mother’s. The bright bloody red that shone from his sockets was a surprise, and obviously some odd genes. Perhaps one of Naniko or Barrett’s relatives had red eyes. The strain had to come from somewhere, or else it was a mutation.

The little one looked around while lying there in his mother’s arms, not curious enough to move away from the warmth yet. Though he’d been walking for some time, the twerp would much rather be held and carried than use his own little paws for transportation. Sighing softly, he closed his eyes again and laid his head back down on the woman’s shoulder, content to just lay there and be lazy. His brothers would probably be off exploring the room, messing with their mother’s things and bound to get in trouble. Octavius simply didn’t care about that stuff, and perhaps it was just him being a late developer, but he was so clingy and needy.

The white woman shifted onto her side, the movement jostling his little nap and causing him to whimper and hide his face in her fur. Mmm…m-maaamma! I ‘un’t wanna ge’ uuup. His whiny little puppy voice was soft and spoken almost directly into the female’s ear, the unclear words mumbled and sad with his laziness and altogether tired attitude. He wriggled around and curled his backside up more, tucking himself into the crook of her arm, partially under her armpit, and yawned widely, not willing to move anymore.

The pups' naptime had become her own, some days - Naniko still suffered from bouts of insomnia that left her awake and wandering the labyrinth of underground tunnels during the nighttime hours. The little bit of sleep that she managed to get during the puppies' naptime was barely enough for her to get through the day any more, but whether she slept at night or not was not under her control. When she opened her jade eyes her nose began to work as well, sorting through the scents of the room. Ravesque wasn't home right now, and all three pups were laying around her. Most were asleep, but one squirming body had jarred her awake. The little voice came next, soft and sweet as the boy that it belonged to.

"Well...we need to wake up now or you won't sleep tonight." She replied, putting her hands down to support herself as she rolled away from the pups and rose up onto all fours. Naniko scooted to the end of the bed, not wanting to kick any of the pups accidentally, then stood up fully. "Judas, Severus. Wake up." Her voice came sharply. The disobedient Judas continued to snooze, opening one eye to stare at his mother dully before choosing to ignore her, while Severus rose slowly with a few big yawns. "I sweeepy...I sweepy No wake up!" The little boy said, whining. Naniko stared back down at him, shaking her head. "No, we're getting up. It's time for us to go outside for a little while...I think you three need to begin your hunting lessons today."

WC:3+ LAWL hunting psssht

Mommy wasn't being very nice at the moment. All of the pups wanted to keep sleeping, it was so obvious. However, Severus was a pretty good child and got up with only a little bit of whining. Judas, on the other hand, blatantly disobeyed and closed his eyes again. Not wanting to be in the way of his mother's possible anger at the dark boy, Octavius stood slowly on shaky wobbly legs and tottered off the soft bed. There was no real reason for the female to be angry, but with her lack of sleep and the boys' disrespect, he was bound to get into some kind of trouble.

Sighing heavily, bored of waiting on them, the little white fluff ball walked towards the door, followed closely by his grey brother. "We go ou'side M-mommy..." He kept going until they were out in the hall. Tilting his head to the side as he sat down, he looked at his brother and let his ears droop to the sides. He shook his little head and sighed softly, a little puff of air leaving his lungs. It would have been an adorable site to anyone looking on, the little chunky white pup showing sadness for his bad brother. Judas was always doing stuff like that, ever since he could open his eyes and started understanding right from wrong...he just didn't care apparently.

Octavius yawned widely, his little puppy mouth opening wide and a soft whine leaving his throat as a big intake of air was drawn in. Severus walked over to the other side of the stone hall and plopped down with his back against the wall, staring at the door so he could see when his mom and brother came out. The white pup wasn’t so keen on moving anymore than he’d already done. Sinking down, he stretched out and closed his eyes, deciding to relax and maybe catch a bit more sleep before his mommy came out to get them.

"I should have named you lazy", she muttered, prodding Judas with her hand. Most days the pups were more quick to follow her directions, especially Severus - she was surprised to hear anything from him as he got up. Severus shook his fur out a little bit and yawned, looking back to his siblings and then to Naniko. Was she going to do anything about them? He was being a good boy and getting up for their "hunting lesson", whatever that was. But they were being bad! Sev plopped his bum back down on the bed, thinking about the activity that they were about to partake in. Their mother had always just brought them food before or they had just nursed - he had never thought about where the food actually came from.

Octavius hopped down from the bed and Severus followed him obediently, leaving Judas to be the only one left on the bed. Naniko frowned and stared at the demon child, prodding him again with her paw. Nothing. Her annoyance growing, she pushed him harder, growling slightly. That still got no reaction out of the whelp, and she decided to take action. "Fine. You'll stay here, then." She reached over with one clawed hand, picking up the pup by his scruff and tossing him into a model birdcage that she had hanging from the ceiling of her den. Now he couldn't follow them even if he wanted to...and he could sleep all he wanted. She latched it behind her, not looking back at the boy as she followed after her more obedient children.

"Judas chose to stay behind." She informed them, prodding at Octavius with her foot to wake him up. "Let's go." She said, turning to pad toward one of the front entrances of the den. Naniko hoped that they would be fast learners and that they would continue to be as obedient as they had been this morning. She headed out into the crisp air of the October afternoon, looking behind her every once in a while to make sure that both were still following. She hoped to find a hare or squirrel to start them off with...even if they scared it away, it wouldn't matter. There were always more of those little critters.

WC:3+ sweet pups

Octavius Octavius had no knowledge of the cage in their room, or that Naniko was using it to house the other little pup. When the big white woman came out of the room and nudged him, the boy grumbled softly and stood, following at her heels. She was moving quiet fast and the obvious agitation radiating from her body made both Octavius and Severus quite nervous. The boys trotted along very close together, taking similar stances of submission as their little paws popped on the hard, cold stone. It took them a while to reach a point where the air began to freshen up and the holes in the ceiling offered more light.

Finally there was an opening in the stone. Naniko climbed out with ease and turned around, reaching back in and grabbing both pups by the scruff, lifting them out and setting them down gently. The sunlight and new smells hit both pups at the same time, causing them to go through a bit of a shock. Octavius crouched and curled in on himself as he looked around, red eyes wide and fearful. There was so much light, and color and openness! The caves were so much safer, warmer and darker. Shaking and whimpering, the little white one crawled over to his mother and curled around her foot. "M...M-mommy...I s-scar-red. G-go ba-back...p'ease?"

Severus had taken a similar position but hadn't gotten any closer to his brother or mother, his head still whipping around, taking in all that surrounded them. The new terrain was pretty surprising, but he didn't find it quite so frightening. Whining softly, Octavius peeked up from his curled position and looked at his brother, seeing how the fear wasn't really present. Taking a deep breath, the little boy straightened up and nuzzled his face against Naniko's leg. Ne'r min', mama. I's okay now."

With the brattiest of the bunch locked up at home, she felt as if she could relax a little more. Whenever the devilish whelp accompanied the family out somewhere he was always quick to run away regardless of her commands, something that annoyed her to no end. The only thing that seemed to get through to the boy was a show of power - that she could crush him with one paw if she wanted to. Naniko didn't enjoy having to use force on the boy, but if it took a nip on the ear or swat on the behind to make him listen then she would do it.

She had taken them outside into the light before, but with the change of the season the surroundings looked much different from the last time they'd been out. This was also a different entrance than she usually took. The powdered boy seemed afraid of the surroundings. Perhaps the cooler air was getting to him. He would have to get used to it, though, with the coming of winter. "It's only going to get colder out, kid, you might as well get used to it." She advised. He seemed to straighten up after that, stating that he was ready to go out. Good enough for her. Naniko started out into the woods with small steps, taking care so that the little ones could follow easily. The mother was as vigilant as ever when it came to their safety and keeping track of where the pups were at, barking sharply at them if they got too far ahead of her or too far behind.

She stopped when they reached a mossy clearing. "Let's look for something for you guys to chase after. Use your senses, boys - they'll tell you where the prey is at. Do you hear any creatures that we could prey upon?" The thoughtful canine considered what creatures her own ears could catch. Birds of every type, frogs, a squirrel chattering in the trees far above. Would the pups recognize any of them as food? Naniko had the ability to speak with the lower creatures...perhaps she could call out and try and get one to come near enough for her children to identify. "Little frogs, little frogs, come out and play with us" She called quietly, unsure of how many of them were in range of the family or how much of her words they would actually understand.

WC:3+ lol. this is where he'll start liking froggies.

Mommy was so smart! She knew all about getting ready to stalk and hunt for food. Octavius had never thought about where his food had come from. For a long time the pups had just been nursing and they still did every now and then. Naniko was weaning them slowly and showing them how to eat solid foods now. This lesson was going to be more than fun and exciting, and after the initial shock and fear of the new look to the outdoor world, Octa caught up with his mom and ran at her side. That is…until they came to a stop.

The sound of Naniko’s voice calling softly to the little creatures helped Octavius to settle down and he relaxed, crouching and concentrating on the ground. He had no idea what ‘frogs’ were, so he’d just have to wait and see what was going on. Severus crawled up on the other side of their mother, adopting a similar position to the white pup and laying his head on the ground to wait. After a few minutes the ground started moving, little things lifting themselves from plants and the mud. The little white fluffball tensed up and whined softly, not sure about the little things getting closer to them.

While the woman had only called for frogs, a few other small creatures lifted out of their hiding places to see what was going on. Still nervous, but ever curious, Octa reached out with one paw and poked at a large toad. It made a loud croaking noise and leapt into the air, sailing a few inches before landing and doing it again. The pup yelped and jumped backwards, stumbling and falling onto his back and in the dirt. His body was shaking, paws, tail and ears pulled in close to his body from the brief flash of fear that had hit him. ”M…m-mommy…th-that scareded m-me.”

omfg I'm so sorry for the wait! I must have missed this one! Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet.

"Don't be a weakling, Octavius. Be more like your brother." She demanded, watching the pup's antics as the toad hopped toward him. "Don't be afraid of the unknown - embrace it." Naniko said. She grabbed one of the frogs. It croaked and struggled in her grasp, but she paid no heed to its movements. It could never get away...not until she decided to let it go. The female held it toward Octavius for him to see more easily. "These things can't hurt you, anyway." She said. "They can piss on you...but that's the worst."

She tossed the frog over her shoulder, then turned toward Severus. "Look at your brother, Octavius. He's stalking one...keeping low to the ground, making himself seem one with the ground and the grass" She said, describing Severus' movements. The little gray pup was sneaking up behind a rather large frog when it turned toward him, hopping up into the air above the pup's head in a panic. He leaped up into the air, snatching it up in his mouth. "mmm gtttt oneeee" He said, shaking the frog from side to side. He padded toward Octavius, trying to show off his prize. "Seee?"

WC:3+ lol. this is where he'll start liking froggies.

Octavius whimpered softly and watched as his mom caught the frog, flinching as the thing wiggled and struggled to get away. Something about the slimy looking creature touched his heart and he felt supremely sad about possibly having to hurt them. His head snapped over to watch his brother next, looking to see as the boy stalked forward and then hopped up into the air and snapped his jaws around one. The thrashing ended up in blood spurting from where the darker pup’s teeth punctured the frog, its skinny little legs no longer twitching as it gave up and died. Growling at his brother as he gloated, the white boy turned away and walked off, scanning the ground for some animal that WASN’T a frog, not wanting to hurt one of them.

Finally his eyes fell upon a small mouse nibbling on some kind of seed in the damp grass. Crouching down, he wiggled and waited, watching intently as the thing crept closer unknowingly. When it was within a foot of his muzzle, the little one jumped forward and slapped his front paws down on top of it. The lightness of his body weight was enough to snap the creature’s back, and there was no further struggling, much unlike Severus’ frog. Dropping his head closer, he sniffled at the thing for a few moments before picking it up by the head and turning back to his mother and brother, holding it up happily. There was no blood, the skin wasn’t broken anywhere, but the tiny body was broken beyond repair.

Scampering over to Naniko, he laid the mouse at her feet and sat back on his haunches, looking up at her happily. ”F-for you, Mommy.” His head fell to the side, one ear tilted forward and the other flopped over slightly, tongue lolling out the side of his mouth. He looked happy and proud of himself, but also very wanting of his mother’s approval.

Word Count :: 000 Slight powerplay, if that's alright.

"Good job, sons. Perhaps we should move onto something a little larger." The boys had been able to capture smaller creatures without much difficulty, seeming to understand that one had to trick the animals to be able to catch them. Of course, these creatures could possibly have been distracted by Naniko herself, a larger presence for them to have to keep their eye on, and maybe they were not watching for the littler pups. "I like to hunt for deer the most, though a nice run after a rabbit is welcomed every now and again. You boys are too little to be able to catch deer yet, but soon enough you will be chasing them down alongside your old mom" She said.

She picked up the mouse that Octavius had caught and put it into the pouch on her belt. "We'll save him for later. A midnight snack, perhaps" She said, smiling. "But come along, for now." She started off again and Severus followed her after spitting his frog out, padding through the brush swiftly. "Quiet is very important when it comes to hunting. You must not alert them to your presence...otherwise, they'll be looking for you. You want to catch them in their natural movements. Grazing, searching for food...their minds will be occupied with that, and they will not be expecting a wolf to come along"

The movements of a nearby squirrel caught her attention. The creatures usually stuck to trees and were adept at spotting wolves...but this one seemed to be unaware of their presence. She went down to her hands and knees, watching it. "Squirrels can be difficult. Try to begin the chase in an area that has very little trees in it, because they'll climb out of your reach very quickly once they see you" She advised. Severus seemed unsure of going after the squirrel and sat down in the grass, simply watching it.
