The male had only been in the territory for a few days, the scent of the pack strong and fresh. His first self appointed duty had been to add his scent to the territory borders, announcing to his pack mates that he had arrived and was settling into the swing of things. He had spent the first few days following the border, learning the edges of their lands as letting it be known that their numbers were strong. He had yet to find either of the alphas but that didn't worry him, he knew sooner or later he would find them or they would find him.

The silvery male stood back at the first scent marker he had placed upon the lands as a new member, now he was ready to explore the inner reaches of the pack's territory. He wasted no time in tracking and following the scent of a rather plump muskrat, padding quietly along the upper bank of the creek where the creature was grubbing on some sort of fish or water prey. His fangs glittered slightly in the moonlight as he dove down into the chilly waters as his fangs ended the life of the beast in the beat of a heart.

He stood in the ankle deep water a moment before leaping back out of the waters and catching scent of one of the Alphas. He followed the scent of Zalen across the lands and to a small area where it seemed the den was located. He had been carrying the muskrat for a while and his jaws were beginning to ache as the sight of the home grounds shimmered silvery in the lunar light. He sighed softly and dropped the muskrat to the ground as he stretched his aching jaws and let his tongue roll across his lips, trying to remove the oily tang of the creatures pelt from his maw before plopping down next to his kill, wondering just where the rest of the pack was, for he knew he was not the first to arrive.

Paws plodded against the ground as the white and black hued male brought himself home for the first time. The daylight hours had been spent in the borders of his former pack, bidding farewell to the only two he‘d known. He couldn’t decide how to feel. His emotions a raging tempest within him, ever changing. He was happy to be free of the bonds of the Court, relieved that he no longer had to bear witness to a way of life that felt entirely wrong to him. But there was a sort of mourning there as well, leaving the only friends he’d had behind. It mattered little that they had not been too close, they hadn’t the chance, and now they most likely never would. Dog and coyote blood was not to be mixed with a wolf’s, but still, how could he ever truly forsake the two females that had fed him when he was hungry, and listened to his ramblings of he life he’d live before. He’d owed them a goodbye at least, and now that debt had been paid.

He was nearing the border now and the scents of his new pack called to him. It brought a spring to his step and caused his heart to lighten, the woes of the day fading in the promise of his new pack. When he reached the barrier he paused. He lowered his nose to the ground. His alphas scents were here, but a fresher one there was as well. His ears twitched in curiosity. The scent was not familiar and he found himself following its trail. He brought himself into a trot, nose to the ground. It was only when the scent intensified that he raised his head to scout before him. A silver hued figure came into view and he took caution. He was in front of what had to be the pack’s den. The smell of dead flesh there was also and Augustus peered more intently until his green flecked gaze rested on the muskrat. They darted swiftly away out of respect for the other’s kill.

He paused, taking in the sight of what had to be a new brother before approaching. His posture was relaxed, yet confident- his tail neither raised nor tucked, and his ears perked attentively. Having never seen this male before Augustus assumed they would be on equal footing and dominant or submissive postures were not needed here. “Hello, brother.” He said slowly, not wishing to startle his pack mate.

The one time Crimson Dreams pack member had spent his time ridding himself of the scent of those he had once belonged to. Though the women of the pack had been quite polite it seemed that they were a league of ghosts and nothing more. It had taken him nearly a moon to realize that he just didn't belong in the lands of Dreamers and when Zalen had offered him a place in the distant lands of New Dawn he had agreed, pleading himself to the newly formed pack and the members he didn't even know. Lucky for him two of the ranks had come from his previous pack and the alpha was another he knew so he didn't feel completely alone in the new territories. He did however spend his time efficiently these first few days, not wanting his leaders to think that he knew nothing of the daily workings of the pack and it's people.

He would have begun to rip into the muskrat he had caught but his heart just wasn't into it just yet. His gold shot sapphire eyes scanned the small clearing where the den was located. He hadn't even taken the time to begin to explore the caverns yet, having just fallen into the center of the territories. He glanced towards the den entrance for a moment, pondering just where the alphas were for a second before he let his tongue lull out of his maw as he let his eyes close slightly. The dappled light that filtered through the dormant trees was soft and soothing on his pelt as he let the cold bitter soil below him seep into his pelt and cool his body after a long day of trekking through the lands.

The male had been sitting in front of the new pack den pondering an assortment of things as he caught sight of another approaching. He watched with mild interest as the male approached, the scent spoke of his old pack but the new claim of the lands was beginning to cling to him just the same. He gave a slight wag of his tail as his new pack mate addressed him, the seated male dipping his head low in respect as he spoke. 'And to you, brother." He nudged the body of the muskrat towards this new family member as he asked. "Was the trek long for you?" For he knew little of where this male came from but if it was anything like his own pack it had been a long journey in crossing to the northern lands.

He was pleased that the Luperci taint was not upon this male and he felt immediately connected, like they shared something few of even his new brothers and sisters had. To say he was discouraged by its presence in his superiors was not true however, as he admired their will to deny its presence and return to the life nature had intended for them. Still, it felt good to be among another, in many ways, just like him. He’d never dwelt in human structures, never eaten cooked food as most of the court was accustomed too, unwilling from the start to adopt such habits. Another similarity was both were wolves, pure without the slightest drop of hybrid blood. He took a few moments to pass his eyes over his body. They were alike in age, but very different in pelt. Augustus had no other colors but black and white, as was his view of the world -black and white a very fitting arrangement of colors for him. His eyes were but the only trace of vibrant hues as they were yellow with flecks of green around the pupils. The male’s eyes were an oddity as well, sapphire dashed with gold. He peered into the pools now, sizing him up. It was neither a display of aggression, he simply wished to observe every member of his new family to the very finest detail. These were the very beings he would sleep beside, hunt beside, and even one day die beside. It served him well to know them to their very core.

His ears perked to the males tones and he dipped his own muzzle in turn. His attention fell to the muskrat as the wolf nosed it to him. Without further hesitation his teeth sunk into the flesh of the creature, feeling warm blood flow between his open jaws- fresh blood. He ate little, sparing the rest out of respect and love. He knew him little but there was a deep seated bond between pack mates that was hard to describe. He nudged it back to him, content in the knowledge that when he dined their saliva would mix and they would become the slightest part of each other sealing their new found kinship. He licked the blood from his white jaws before giving reply. “Paws always feel lighter at the prospect of coming home.” His tail wagged to further back up his statement. “And yours?” He asked, lowering himself to his haunches. He let his tail curl about his large white paws, and kept his attention upon Thoirni. He paused for his answer, ears swiveling to the subtle sounds of the ambient beings about him. The others of his pack that were already settled here stirred in the den behind them. Augustus lent his ears to their movements, and Thoirni’s as well. “I am Augustus.” He continued, eager to get the formalities out of the way. It felt silly to need to introduce himself, but he was not yet acquainted with all of his family, and had need to announce himself if they ever had the need to call him. .
