I imagine there's a fire like this somewhere in the courthouse to keep the place warm, if not then I'll rewrite it @_@

The fire crackled merrily in the fireplace, casting a warm, golden glow over the similarly coloured fur of Regner's hulking Secui form, making the large dog seem to almost glow in the light, even the scar-like black fur scattered across his back taking an orange tint, as had the snow white fur of Regner's cloak, which he had spread out beneath him to lay on. When Regner wasn't lazily scanning the room, his coppery eyes half open, he was studying the familiar patterns in the snow leopard pelt.

The elderly warrior had taken to his Secui form to relax, too tired to hold his Optime form but too vain to revert to the atrophied skeleton, at least by Regner's standards, that was his Lupus form. This form left the marks of a warrior's life that adorned Regner's pelt on show for all to see, a startling amount and variety of scars snaking across his entire body. Regner, as per his usual views to his scars, was somewhere between apathetic and approving of this fact.

The elderly warrior was fast learning how much a chore caring for a small child could be. During their journey Adelle's behaviour had been fairly tame, the puppy seemingly subconsciously realising the dire situation. Now that they were in safety however, she was making up for that in full force. Regner was finding himself regularly exhausted just trying to keep up with the hyperactive bundle of fur that was his granddaughter.

Said bundle of fur was currently, and thankfully, asleep; tucked between Regner's paws and underneath his chin. If one were to look carefully she was just visible, her nose peeking out from beneath his fur, but the nearly identical fur colour shared by the two made it a hard task.

While Regner did possess a room of his own, shared with Adelle obviously, he had chosen to rest in one of the more public areas of the courthouse, though the precise name of it escaped him. The fire which blazed behind him was one reason to doing this but the other was that Regner's position, in theory, would let him watch some of the packs other members as they passed by so that Regner could get their appearances and scents in his mind.

However that was only theory at the moment as nobody seemed to be around. Either that or there was some other, more travelled, path which the other wolves were taking. Even so Regner was enjoying his rest regardless, and continued to do so, eventually falling into a gentle half-sleep.

Yup! There are several fireplaces on the main and upper levels of the courthouse, I just haven’t gotten them added to the layout. On the main floor the lounge, Medico Office, War room, Guida office, Kitchen and Dining Hall all have fireplaces of some sort, the Kitchen as had a wood stove fitted in place. I am gonna say that Regner is in the Lounge c: / +300!

Anann gave a deep sigh as she settled back in the heavy wooden chair. A hand coming up to rub at her tired eyes with her thumb and index finger, ebows resting heavily on the armrests. The long conference table of the war room had several large maps spread out across it with books holding down the rolling edges. On the wall behind the golden Luna was an even larger map of the former Nova Scotia providence. Rough outlines of their pack lands, as well as those of their neighbors had been lightly drawn in charcoal.

The maps laid out on the table were closer, more detailed views of the territory that Casa di Cavalieri laid claim to. There were various scribblings on the maps. Locations of gathered logs and lumber, as well as other supplies that hadn’t needed to be brought directly to the fort itself. Mingled in with the maps were sheets of papers with drawings and figures. Plans for the barn and stables that would be constructed in the coming spring.

Deciding that she had spent far too pouring over the maps in the dim candle light, Anann rose from the hefty chair and began rolling up the maps and placed the back in the office along with the books that had served as paper weights. From the war room, Anann slipped into the kitchens were she grabbed a couple strips of dried meat. One such strip was promptly placed between her teeth as closed up the bag.

As Anann made her way towards the stairs to make her way up to her own room she noticed someone laying in front of the fireplace in the lounge. The figure was silhouetted in the glow of the fire, but her nose could tell her it was one of the newer member she had not yet personally met. Seizing the opportunity, Anann approached and tapped lightly on the door frame. Hello. Mind if I join you? she asked, not yet noticing the sleeping bundle between the secui’s paws.

Black furred ears twitched as a voice drifted over to Regner, breaking the light doze the elderly dog had been drifting into. Blinking blearily Regner slowly raised his head, scanning around to locate the source of the voice.

Eventually he located the figure, a yellow coloured wolfess stood at the door to the room. Tired as he was Regner didn’t recognise the scent of the stranger as that of the alpha he had yet to meet but nonetheless he wasn't adverse to some company at the moment. "O-o," Regner was interrupted by a yawn that cut through his speech, an impressive set of teeth on display for a split second before he clamped down, continuing, "Of course not." Regner's voice was tired but friendly and his tail wagged weakly along the floor behind him.

Regner glanced at the fire, wondering if he would have to move and risk waking Adelle for the stranger to sit, but even with his large frame there was plenty of room in-front of the fire. As he did so there was a quiet mumble from under his chin and Regner glanced down. Adelle squirmed slightly but didn’t seem to have woken up, moving at some dream she was having. Regner waited a moment to make sure that the sounds weren't of distress before lowering his head gently, covering the puppy once more as he waited for the golden female to approach.

Anann had not realized that the elder male had already started to doze off when she had spoke out. She felt a pang of guilt for disturbing him as he lifted his head, bright, yet tired eyes blinking away the fog of sleep. The amber hued wolf had to fight the urge to yawn as the black and tan male’s jaws split open. Tired as she was herself, she wasn’t able to completely stop it and gave a light yawn herself. A light smile settling on her face as he welcomed her to join him. Thank you. She said as she stepped into the room and made her way to a chair, off to the side of the fireplace. The small sounds from between the secui’s paws went unnoticed as she settled into place.

Leaning against one of the arm rests she took a nibble of the dried meat. You must be the potential medico Japzer was telling me about. I’m Anann Kelevra. She introduced herself sans the title she carried. She had never been one for titles.

The Sole had told her the doggish male’s name, yet she was unsure if she was recalling the pronunciation correctly and so she hoped he might give it himself. Jerky? She asked, offering him one of the pieces she had taken from the kitchen.

Regner chuckled as the newcomer yawned in an automatic response to his own, following her across the room with his head until she settled in a chair close by. The woman introduced herself as Anann, a name which jumped in his memory but didn’t link to anything specific. The fact that Jazper had confided in this woman seemed to indicate that she was high up in the pack, higher up than him at least, so Regner bowed his head and folded his ears respectfully as he responded in kind.

"That would be me. Regner Vilhelmsen, Betydning of the Brode-" Regner realised the greeting only halfway through, the formal greeting falling easily off of his lips after 6 years of use. He gave a frustrated, but quiet with mind to the sleeping puppy between his paws, snort and shook his head, "Sorry, old habits. Former Betydning of the Broderskab now, current Fiera of Casa de Cavalieri." Regner flicked his ears downwards again for a second, embarrassed by his lapse in memory, "This is Adelle, my granddaughter" He said, nudging his nose down towards the still sleeping bundle of fur, though he didn’t make any move to wake the sleeping puppy.

Regner wasn't particularly hungry but part of his mind was still obsessed with food, his recent experiences with near starvation during his travels not yet completely wiped from his mind so he accepted gratefully, "Thank you." Regner stretched his head upwards, stiff muscles stretching satisfyingly as a massive, muscled neck reached over to gingerly take the jerky from Anann's outstretched paw.

Regner bit sharply into the jerky, letting a small section fall to the ground at the side of his paw, for Adelle when she awoke, and then sat quietly and chewed. In his younger years Regner would have been brimming with questions but age had taught him patience and appreciation of silence so he simply sat there quietly, chewing the jerky and studying the woman before him.

The title from his prior home fell off his tongue with the ease of familiarity, causing a small smile of good humor crept into Anann's features as the elder canine fell victim to old habits, but otherwise made little of his slip of words. No doubt Regner had held that title for some time. The small slip up was hardly anything to be considered with as Casa was hardly stringent about such minor formalities. "Ah, don't worry about it. I am sure you'll become accustomed to the change sooner or later. Though to be perfectly honest it probably won't be the last change you see to rank for while." She said with another soft smile. Most of the Cavalierites that they had to day had spent little time within the Braccante ranks. It seemed their members either excelled and moved up the ranks or left in search of better prospects elsewhere. Besides, at his age, Regner was hardly suited for the laborer ranks.

Amber ears perked and dark brown eyes widened in mild surprise as Regner made introductions for the sleeping bundle of fur between his paws. Nearly perfectly matching Regner's own pelt, the young pup had escaped the Luna's notice until that moment when Regner dipped his nose in indication of her presence. Anann's eyes softened as she took a moment to look at the sleeping pup. Her unease was rather minute since the young pup was not awake and there was no need for interaction, which came as quite a relief. Anann was still not comfortable with the very young. Not to say that she was completely inapt with children, it just did not come with any sort of natural ease. Maternal instinct was one thing that Anann had always felt she lacked and she felt confident that no aspect of motherhood would come easily for her. A secret insecurity that only Anatoliy was truly aware of, though there was a slight hint to such feelings as her hand absently rested over her abdomen.

Anann's own hunger was mild as she offered a piece of the dried meat to Regner. Simply she had not wanted to be so rude as to eat in front of him. If he had not taken it she simply would have waited until she had retired to her room for the night to finish her light snack. The Luna found she was often having to remind herself to eat regularly enough. For a short time she had experienced an increased appetite with her pregnancy, but the last several days it had begun to wane. She was not sure if such a thing was cause for concern and had tried to keep her thoughts positive.

"So," She said, breaking the easy silence of the lounge and to break her thoughts away from her own problems, "what brought you and your granddaughter to this region of the world?" She was guessing, of coarse, that he had come quite a ways. The land of his prior home that he had given earlier had sounded quite foreign to her ears. Though so did many of the names of packs around the area, so it really didn't mean too much.
