Quote:After bidding the gal he had met at the lake goodbye, he had traveled further towards the mountain peaks of the North. His ears twitched. A yawn escaped his crooked jaws as he leaned himself forward in a stretch and then crawled his way out of the cavern he had claimed temporarily as his. Turning his head to the side as he reached the entrance, he closed an eye, the morning sun blaring with all their might. Shaking his head, he squinted, trying to allow his eyes time to adjust to the sudden light before plopping off the rock overhang and onto the frost covered ground. Around him, stood tall trees as birds quietly sung amongst themselves, of course, it alerted all to the large man’s presence.

Twitching the end of his tail like a feline, his ears perked, listening keenly as the alerting calls of birds sounded off quite a distance away. Surely they couldn’t see him from that distance. Or perhaps they were just copying the ones that were here? His eyes drifted towards a particular tree, eying the bluebird perched upon it that seemed almost as if he were mocking the old man. After all, the old man didn’t have the claws to climb that tree. And he did not have wings. The bird was ultimately safe from becoming the old man’s next meal. Raising an eyebrow, he stared at the bird for another good moment before bellowing out a wordless bark. The bird jumped and took to flight, only to rest on an opposite branch. Snorting, Julian merely shook his head.
Quote:Leaving all behind except the white and pepper woman who walked beside him, Julian eyed excitedly before them. Winter birds leaving the grasps of the year round trees and erupting in song, their colorless figures fading in the clouded blue sky as snow continued to cascade down, brushing everything in the color white as if an artist were painting them one by one. His pace slowing and with it, the loud crunching of snow underfoot seemed to disappear. A smile brimming upon his crooked lips, the old man turned to Encore, tail wagging behind him. He was waiting to see her first reaction of his discovery. Would she continue to be excited about it? Saying that he was a genius once more? Brow rising, he leaned closer towards the gal, his lips parting in an attempt to nip and tug at her ear playfully. This is where he felt at home despite the fact he had previously camped out within Blackberry Glade. The previous meeting the duo had interrupted with multiple other wolves had brought this realization to him. While he had felt a twinge of jealously that they were in his so called ‘territory’, Julian hadn’t reacted violently. He didn’t mind it as much as say, someone walking into this mountain paradise he found without his permission. With that thought, the old man turned his nose toward the border, sniffing for any signs of other wolves around before his attention focused back on the greyscale girl.

“So?” His voice rose with bliss and curiosity. “What do you think?” Julian didn’t know if he could keep himself from claiming the mountain should even Encore agree with the decision. His tail continued to sway back and forth behind him, brushing against his hocks as he hummed rather impatiently awaiting her response. “I spent the night here once. There are multiple caverns hidden throughout the territory. It seems well protected and…” With a toothy grin upon his lips, he spoke as if a child explaining his favorite new toy. And yet, he suddenly faded his voice off, his smile disappearing as his dull blue eyes trailed over to stare into Encore’s honey brown eyes. Narrowing them, he merely gave her a serious look. “I like it and wanted to share it with you.” He chuckled, walking a good yard before turning towards the gal. “If I create a pack here… will you come to visit even if it’s far?”
Quote:There was no arguing with an arrogant bird perched upon a tree. They had the skill of flight and he was stuck amongst the ground. Had he been years younger, it would have been different. The young Julian would be stretched out along the tree, his teeth bared and his claws digging in the bark in hope of a futile grip that could enable him to climb and snatch the mocking bird straight from his nest. Foolish thoughts like these had long been abandoned, however, as the old man had grown a wee bit wiser and had calmed. He wasn’t a rotten kid anymore, merely an old man with simple mind and wishes for something greater. He was a shoulder to lean on, too, someone that would offer his wing of protection and honesty over any wolf who he came across and liked.

There had been a few of these wolves thus far, but none stayed too long by his side. They were there and then they were not. The longest meeting had perhaps been his first conversation with another wolf in these parts. But he couldn’t seem to find someone that would stick by him… keep him company longer than a short, bittersweet conversation that always ended in them parting ways.

Heaving a sigh to which seemed strange upon a usually laid back and charming gent, Julian turned from his rival bluebird friend and through the thick overgrowth of the mountain side. It reminded him of the mountain he grew up under. Though he never truly adventured as it was home of another pack, he was always curious about it. His eyes would often dance over the landscape and he would travel as close as possible, staring into the strange territory with eager eyes as if he were a child staring at a toy he oh so wanted yet couldn’t have. It was a treat for him and he scouted across the border Rosehedge Wood shared with the mountain known as Icewald, staring and picking out every detail until a map formed in his head. Even then, he would check and search for any sort of change, each season especially.

A familiar voice in the form of a yip snapped his attention from his daydreaming and back into reality. His ears perked and head turned to glance over the cream and light brown masked gal he had previously saved. Surely she looked better not being soaking wet to the bone. And yet, she seemed ill. Had she caught a cold? A welcoming grin brimmed ear to ear upon his crooked jaw, approaching her slowly and coming to a halt close but not within her personal space. He wasn’t sure how the girl would react to that, after all. She was smiling, however, a look that seemed almost foreign when it came to this one. His tail wagged twice before listening keenly to her words. She had been searching for him. “Looking for me?” He questioned in curiosity, tilting his head. Julian hadn’t forgotten his offer, it was only that he did not wish to assume she was here to join him.

“I am very well.” A playful grin replaced the one of welcoming as he flicked an ear and watched her take a seat. Once she was seated, he too, plopped down. “Thank you for asking,” he paused, nodding his head with his words while his expression changed from that of happiness to concern. There was no longer any sort of smile or hint in his eyes. “You don’t look so good, however, Clairvoyance… are you alright? Is there something that is troubling you?” He gestured towards her, eying her rugged appearance. “A cold perhaps?”

Welcome to 'Souls!

Congratulations! You've been accepted into the craziest bunch of roleplayers on the vast Internet! We encourage you to keep checking out our information; you can find a wealth of it on the RP Guide. Don't feel pressured to read it all at once -- the guide is a huge resource and is meant to be used as a reference.

If You've Joined the Game As a...
  • ... Loner, do begin considering which of the packs you'd like to join. Survival as a Loner is less realistic -- wolves and other canines are generally social creatures, preferring to live in a pack structure!
  • ... IC pack joiner, you can now begin posting -- you may start your IC pack joining thread whenever you're ready. Make sure you check the pack information to see if the leadership requires anything extra from you!
  • ... OOC pack joiner, the leader still has to respond here before you can start roleplaying -- don't worry, though; if you're rejected from the pack you'll be titled as a Loner, and you're free to pursue other packs or the same one later.
Post-Joining Process
Mandatory:
  • Make an In Character post within five days. Post a thread request to get started, or consider starting or replying to an open thread.
  • Please let us know in the Absentee Thread if you plan to be absent for more than four days.
  • Keep reading! While there's only a minimum of three topics you have to read to join the game, we provide a wealth of information for a reason -- we expect players to read and reference this material often while they roleplay at 'Souls.
Preferred:
  • If you're leaving us, please try to let us know in the Player Updates forum. There is no penalty for leaving; you're free to re-join at any time later.
Still Need a Bit of Help?

Post any questions you may have in the Questions and Help forum. Check the FAQ first, though! The Mentors can assist you with writing, roleplaying, and understanding 'Souls concepts. Failing all else, contact a staff member.

If you need help getting adjusted to your pack, you should talk to your pack leader! They can help you to understand the pack's rank system and how to get a better rank, as well as direct you to plots, potential thread partners, and active members of the pack who may be interested in engaging you.
