It was amazing.

A wild variety of beautiful wild flowers, their colors both vivid and soft, greeted her. Both her paws flew to her mouth to contain the yip of excitement. Well, this pack couldn't be anything short of amazing! This was obvious a border of the territory, with both scent and the dramatic line of flowers acting as markers. The mutt's tail was already wagging wildly in anticipation.

Twisting around on the balls of her feet, Viola grinned joyfully at her sister. "Oh Chara, I love this place already!"

Getting to this place hadn't been easy, but it looked like their journey was about to pay off. And it was just about time, too! Viola loved everything, don't misunderstand - but she was growing a little disillusioned with the magic of travel. It was sort of tiring. She couldn't wait to find a little cottage somewhere here like the one they'd had with their parents, some place they could call their own.

Not only that, but Viola was tickled pink at the prospects of having neighbors again. Oh, all the potential friends! It made her heart swell with delight. She was going to befriend everyone in her new pack, that was for sure!

They had barely just arrived at the border of this foreign place and already Viola was convinced it was perfect for them.

.

♥ ooc. Hi! Big Grin *wave* Viola's sister, Chara (role played by my friend Yew), will also be joining the pack in this thread.

Chara Linard was a very particular girl, and she hadn't headed towards this area for no reason at all. From merely smelling the borders she could tell that this group was blissfully vacant of any guys. At least, there was an insignificant amount in comparison to the girls. He probably already had someone special, considering the sheer weight of numbers to help him out. Even the least charming guy would at least find one gal in such a place. That was her opinion on love anyway. Put any guy and girl together and they'd do the stupidest things.

She was here for her sister though, and had scouted the packs near here the night before. This had been the best, for all the aforementioned reasons. Her sister was a naive little thing, Chara had tried reasoning with her, but… Viola was just so stubborn. She wished her sister would listen to her. Chara knew she was right.

"It does look nice." Chara Linard woofed, not overly optimistic of this place. She hadn't yet met the wolves here, scent could only tell so much. It was nice to see her sister happy though, even if she worried for her. This was a safe place for her sister.

ooc: Goodday Smile

If there was but an iota of happiness to be found, perhaps the woman would have found herself smiling as she returned to the claimed lands. In her wake were the wild rivers of red, trailing at the end of this macabre deathmarch of sorrow. And along her path as well were tendrils of a more permanent kind, staining the fragrant greens with pungent hues of death and premature decay from the life slain clasped tightly by weathered lips around. She dragged the body in silence, with only the soft whine of strain upon her lips as the tear of her broad shoulder was bothered from the labor. But it was necessary pain… a healing pain. A pain that distracted her from the pain of her heart and forced her to press on and ensure the lives of thus she could keep.

With the young bulk in tow, she lumbered down the countless travelled route toward the aromatic borderlines marked with the scent of pack and flora. A shame she chose to tarnish this way with the stains of blood, but at least here one would look upon the borders and see that this blood portrayed the essence of the back, the life force still coursing within. And the prosperity… despite the turmoil that had once stricken their lands, still the pack would prevail and they would prosper as the buds once frozen in winter would break from the frigid soil and spread their vibrant petals toward the glowing sun.

And as an omen from the ancestors that watched this Nomad’s steps upon their borders were two like forms inquiring amongst themselves. Their scents were alike as well as their forms but coupled with the alluring scent of the wild. Well travelled indeed… perhaps newcomers from the town by the sea. But her commendable excitement was not alive this day but was replaced with a calm worn plainly on her bloodied maw. From the closing distance she eyed the two, then sounded around the clasped throat a short howl of acknowledgement. She came upon them then, with massive form standing composed and loose with the casual air of a simple greeting. From her maw fell the young buck elk as she effortless crossed the borders to reclaim her place upon the land before she turned and greeted the pair with a soft, albeit tired smile. Politely, she dipped her head, spilling overgrown strands of auburn locks to veil the she-wolf’s golden gaze. And from her mane slipped a violet blossom tethered to an owl’s down and was alone of the spot of grass between them, separated from the many like pairs that adorned her mane.

“Goodday to you…” the she-wolf greeted in hardly more than a whisper. The stench of death was strong on her lips and habitually she lapped them to be rid of the imposing aroma. “These lands you stand upon are of Ichika no Ho-en. I am its High Shepard X’yrin, an Exultare of the distant Nomads. Might I know your names, young Wanderers?”

It was amazing.

Wow. What an impressive sight to see. One female, dragging a young bulk. Strange, but wonderfully so; curiosity burned within the girl. Who exactly were these wolves? Her eyes grew wider and her tail wagged incessantly. This was so exciting, standing at the borders of some foreign place, getting greeted by strangers!

Ichika no Ho-en. Sucking in a breath of air, the mutt quickly committed the name to memory. It was so beautiful, so delicate, so perfect. Oh, this had to be her perfect home, what with such a cool name! And High Shepard? That was a prestigious title, or had to be at least; Viola admittedly didn't know much about the traditional hierarchy of a pack. "It's a pleasure to meet you!" She replied so fast, she nearly tripped over her words.

Ah, but where were her manners? Viola knew better. Her mother had taught her that there were rules to be followed when meeting those who ranked high (and with "high" in her title, that trait had to apply to the female before them). Curling her tail under her legs and striking a docile position that came strangely naturally to her, she spoke again softer.

"Hi." Her voice trembled a little, not out of fear, but out of the excitement that still bubbled strongly within herself. "I'm Viola Linard, and this is my wonderful sister, Chara."

Turning her gaze towards her sister, the pink eyed mutt did her best to make her cheerful vehemence clear to her sister. You know, as if her not so subtle trepidation and her convulsing tail weren't obvious enough, a good intense stare would do it (read: overkill.)

Such long and weird names. Chara would call them X and Itch. Nice and short, memorable. She'd never be able to remember the real names, it was just waaaaaay to weird a name. Though… Not Itch to the other member's faces. They just might take offense to that, and she didn't want her sister's future friends to be edgy around either of them.

She eyed the she-wolf and her buck, making a quick judgement call. Her sister and them would probably really get along. They were both incredibly trusting. Dragging a kill right under the nose of two strange wolves? That could turn out unfortunate one day, with a pack of strange wolves robbing the gal blind. Chara would just tell her now. It was better to inform than for it to actually happen to this poor girl. "A tip for the future. Taking time for the detour around strange wolves would be worth the time if you've got such a fine kill like that. There's no telling what kind of wolves are out there. Could get yourself robbed one of these days…"

Chara Linard paused a moment. Part of a big pack or not, it didn't take long to subdue a single wolf and devour a kill to one's fill. "Not by me and my sister of course, just a friendly warning." It was a good place for her sister, she'd probably make plenty of friends. Friend making wasn't Chara's personal concern. She was here for her sister's sake. A pack to make her happy, and a lack of males to assure that she would remain happy.

ooc:

The faint amber lights danced from one female to the other in silent assessment, procuring a sense of their physical attributes by what could be immediately observed. While a smile and kind heart were a pleasure to behold, the warrior spirit was fond of spying desired physical attributes within another, prospective or otherwise. It could not be helped and she harbored no shame toward this fault, rather embraced it and let it be known that her eye was wandering, carefully mapping the musculature beneath the hues of black and white.

In the midst of observation, she politely dipped her head in acknowledgement to the young female’s greeting, then just as fluidly turned her attention to the named, and now verbal other. Both ears came forward as the soft smile upon her lips waned by a little to her boldly offered warning. “I have travelled alone for many seasons, and understand the ruthlessness of the world we dwell within,” the Nomad offered gently. “And I have come to learn that if one’s fangs are bore in desperation for a meal, it is better to share it, than forfeit one’s life for a bit of meat.” Again, her soothing hues passed between the two females. “However, I find it best to trust in the instincts granted by our ancestors, and expect the same of any other. We are engraved with a sense of where our place is within this world and where we resided within a pack. If a Lost Soul chooses to contest that even upon unmarked ground, they will be guided back toward their path by whatever means they choose to travel.”

Just a smoothly and confidently as she professed the words of her mentor and Shepard, the glow of content returned to her face and as she breathed deeply the fragrant air and felt her chest swell with the richness of life, she felt renewed in spirit with heightened expectations for what would come of this encounter. Surely the ancestors had a plan in the works to invoke such an intimate conversation. “But I trust this was not the reason for your visit this day,” she continued softly. “May I ask what has brought you to these borders, Viola and Chara Linard?”

The words X'yrin spoke were as good as gold. What she said about ancestors, one's place, and path was addictive. Just the way that X'yrin spoke was addictive to Viola. There was clearly a lot of wisdom packed into this wolf, a lot that the young wolf would love to learn. Oh, she really hopped her sister loved this wolf as much as she did so far.

During X'yrin's entire speech, the girl nodded fiercely and joyfully. Between her legs, her tail was wiggling with barely kept in excitement.

Without even waiting for Chara, Viola once against blurted out an answer to X'yrin's question. "We'd really like to join your pack!" Oops. Once again, she'd forgotten that docile wolves didn't shout, whether it be with joy or otherwise. Clearing her throat with embarrassment, the mutt added more gently, "I-if that would be okay, uh, miss High Shepard."

Oh, she hoped it'd be okay. Curiousity was already burning her up from the inside. She wanted to know more about X'yrin and this place called Ichika, and desperately wanted to be a part of the latter.

"I doubt others would be of such a mindset of sharing, you'd loose the kill altogether." Chara woofed with a shrug. She'd done what she could, if they decided to not heed her advice that was their business. Chara herself wasn't a firm paw with her sister, let alone with a complete, yet named, stranger. She was following the she-wolf's words for awhile, but that steadily slipped as the girl started making as much sense as a dead language or a lively corpse.

She nodded a little in agreement at her sister's words, though they were not completely true. They were in the fact that Viola wanted to join a pack, and Chara wanted to join one so that her sister was happy. They just weren't on the exact same wavelength of joining a pack. But close enough for her to just let it slide.

It was this pack she had chosen would be good for her sister, from what she measured as safe, this was the safest pack. One male, many females. Her sister's heart would be safe here. Yes, Chara knew that sounded cheesy.

ooc: I apologize if this thread seems a little rushed.

Exuberance was reflected in different forms on the two. One, exhibited with boundless elation whilst the other remained somewhat reserved and careful. Both qualities received with an understanding smile as well as the silence preference that they be one in the same rather than two separate forms. What a creature they would make had fate seen fit to make them so, complicated and all the more unique; a hybrid flower among a field of green. X’yrin smiled at the thought and again let her gaze wavered between the two.

“A pack is more than a refuge,” she began again with softened tones. “It is a family where we care for each other and see to our prosperity. We learn to defend each other and share knowledge, creativity and life. Each form represents a part of whole and the trust and understanding in each other cements its center.

“Along with abiding and upholding these traditions you will be required to fend if necessary, defend yourself as well as your brethren, and aid in the continuation of this land’s prosperity by whatever means are afforded to you. But most importantly…” the she-wolf paused, allowing the aroma of Spring to entrance her flaring nostrils as she reclaimed her waning breath. “You must open yourselves to what this land has to offer. It will offer itself as a home to you so long as you are willing to accept it with your whole heart.”

A family. Yes, that is exactly what she wanted. The idea was so appealing, that Viola began to drool a little bit as X'yrin spoke. Luckily she realized quick enough and rubbed the side of her muzzle with a paw. Sharing knowledge, creativity, and life; oh my gods, yes! This place sounded like it was full of friendly wolves! Lots of people know and love and be happy with. Ichika seemed to promise Viola everything she had ever dreamed of, and more. Here she would make her home and make a family of friends.

She, and her sister. Sparing a side glance at Chara, the younger sister tried to read the red and white wolf's expression. Her sister was being reserved, but well, she was always sort of reserved. If only Chara would wear her emotions on her sleeve like Viola; the younger sister would have no trouble reading her older sister then. Alas, that was not so, which is why Viola really couldn't tell what Chara thought of X'yrin.

I bet she likes her. She has to! Who couldn't like the High Shepard, with intelligence and serenity in every word she spoke? Rubbing her paws together, Viola made sure to be relatively calm before replying for both herself and her sister. "We would love all that. To share, and love, and be part of a really wonderful family!"

She paused and looked expectantly at Chara. It was her sisters agree, and then their new future could begin. Then, they could open themselves to this new, gorgeous land and embrace all that it had to offer, just like X'yrin said.

.

ooc. Oh, it's all good! ^_^ I'm fine with any speed, teehee.

"Yup. Can do." She had expected nothing less from a pack, that's just how packs were. She was unfazed and unexcited by the prospect. Maybe a little excited? But nothing in comparison to what her sister was. It was a second hand excitement. Excited for her sister. In hearing the she-wolf take in a breath of air to catch her breath the thought occurred to Chara that this could be rehearsed. Not that she cared.

Chara was fine with her sister lapping up the schpeal, just so long as she was happy. She just didn't go along with that kind of thing. Blood she had her sister shared, personalities? No. A traditional pack was more suitable for such bondage- being an actual family. Buuut, a traditional pack was what they had been kicked out of, by their parents, so that was overrated as well.

She was beating a dead horse with thinking this again, but she was damn near obsessive about it. "Can do." Chara repeated quieter. She'd particularly open herself up to the thing that the land didn't offer- males. She was glad that the land wasn't offering that. Yup, males were a thing in her book. She didn't really get the whole talk about knowledge and creativity, but that was a whatever point. She could do everything else alright, surely not understanding this bit would be okay.

Welcome to Ichika no Ho-en!

Welcome and congratulations! You are now free to begin posting as a pack member, even if your joiner thread is not yet completed.

Your first task as a member of Ichika no Ho-en is to create a thread within the InH subforum performing the as directed by the Ichikan who accepted your character. This thread must be within the Ichika no Ho-en subforum and must have at least one other InH member within it. Feel free to create an all-welcome thread, and refer to the link given above or to the leaders in PM if you have any questions! Smile

Of course, there's plenty more to do, too!:

  • Look through the Ichika territories for interesting environments and scenarios to create threads in.
  • Your character has been titled as a Dai-In, but if your activity is consistently good, they can be promoted up into the Specialized tier of ranks, where your character will have a job that is theirs and theirs alone for the entire pack. Take some time and look through the and get a feel for where your character might fit for when that time comes!
  • Glance through the pack game and get a feel for what you can post about that will earn your points towards things like icons, titles, player-drawn art and more!
  • If you haven't yet, take some time to thoroughly read through Ichika no Ho-en's and policies pages so you may get a better feel of how the pack works and what you may or may not want to aim for with your character.

Please don't hesitate to PM the with any questions or concerns you have at any time!
