[AW] can't hold a candle to her

A thin mist hung in the air. The tree bark was wet, and dew clung to every grass blade and leaf. However, the clouds did not cry. There was no rain, only a moisture rich air. In the damp mud, paw prints remained. Some of small animals, some of birds, and one of a wolf. Well, mutt.

With her snout held high, the female weaved her way through the trees, humming cheerfully. Today she was in her natural wolf form, with only a yellow ribbon tied to her right wrist and a sapphire one wrapped chaotically around the middle of her tail. Her pink eyes were bright, taking in every lovely inch of nature.

It was a nice day for a stroll, a nice day to explore the territory surrounding her new pack. So far, Viola was quite enjoying her journey over Halcyon Mountain.

Back at home, Chara was probably still working on the cottage. A little part of the wolf felt bad for leaving her sister at home, but she really wanted a chance to explore by herself. She absolutely adored her sister, but sometimes Chara could be too overprotective. Viola was a big girl - she could take care of herself. Here, by herself in the lush mountain forest, she was free. Here, she could listen to what her heart told her, and happily wander aimlessly.

A nightmare had driven him from the pack. He'd spent his time patrolling in the night, making sure all was well before falling asleep. His night hadn't been as untroubled as it normally was unfortunately. Tharin had found himself forced to relive Akira's death, the raspy breaths, the way her eyes begged. She'd been so brave until the end, finally breaking down and telling Tharin how much she wanted to live, sending him mad with the efforts of comforting her, just lying and telling her that everything would be alright.

Everything was alright for him, a new pack and life started. Akira was dead however, and there was nothing he could do to change that. How she must hate him, knowing that he had moved on, leaving her body to rot. He hadn't even finished the mission, leaving his pack to struggle, unable to face them. These heavy thoughts came with him as he traveled. The sight of a bright wolf wandering through cheered him up a little, if just increasing his guilt at how he felt. He moved over, a low woof to bring her attention to his presence.

The low woof caught her by surprise. Viola had been so absorbed by the beauty of the forest that she had not really been paying attention to the big picture. Rather, her mind was focusing on piece by piece, gazing with awe at every pretty flower and strange bird. She was not alert to the world, not alert to another wolf approaching until he announced himself. She jumped neatly, and then laughed softly at herself. I should pay more attention. The mutt happily chastised herself.

"Hello there!" She loudly and cheerfully greeted, while she twisted about to face the stranger. A silver and cinnamon male wolf, it was. Viola's tail immediately began to wave. This was not someone she knew, but someone she could. Another potential friend! And perhaps, heehee, potentially even more? He was a male, and Chara had never let her talk to them for very long during their travels.

Ah, but she knew she shouldn't let her mind get carried away. Her pink eyes were friendly as she pleasantly introduced herself to the stranger, "I'm Viola Linard, of Ichika no Ho-en!" It was pretty cool to get to include her new pack's name in her default greeting!

A leap declared how off guard the bright female had been. Tharin's tail picked up a beat, amused by the surprised look on her face. It was rather dangerous for her to be like that, Tharin glancing around to make sure nothing bad had noticed. It was a foolish habit, developed after Akira died. He couldn't protect everyone, and he shouldn't try. His pack was the most important thing. If he could at least protect them it was alright. A loud greeting was given, as boisterous as the female was. Tharin's dominant stance was clear, enveloping her and claiming the land they stood on as his own kingdom to wander through.

She was very nice. Ichika again. The pack seemed to attract these friendly open females. He was glad to meet them. Even better, they had all been on four legs like him, instead of the strange two legged form. I'm Tharin Lupei. I come from New Dawn. It's pretty close to Ichika. He grinned, looking over her with some surprise. There was this bright fabric on her. How she had managed to get it on, and why she would do that was beyond him. Slight puzzlement crossed his expression at that thought.
