Overgrowth Sunrise

The day had been extremely hot, the sun practically scorching anything and everything that it's rays touched. Conri had taken shelter in an old farm house earlier in the day, spending his time by rummaging through the junk inside and lying around for the most part. It had all been fairly quiet, not a soul entering to look around, like he might have imagined that they would, and he was almost certain that no one had even come by. When night came though, removing the harsh heat from the air, Conri decided it was time to move on. He could spend the night traveling until the sun came up, when he would likely have to take shelter somewhere else.

He was a good ways from the farmhouse now, surrounded by rows of trees. Each one appeared to be the same type, with fist sized red fruits hanging from them. Conri stopped for a moment, easing his body up on to the tips of his toes to admire one of the fruits. After a moment he reached out for it, just barely able to swipe it from the branch. He brought it down quickly, pressing it to his nose for a short moment before making an attempt at sinking his teeth in to it. It was hard and the awkward shape made it impossible for him to simply bite a piece off. Instead, he had to continue to bite at it, moving it around in his hand, trying with different parts of his mouth, before he was able to get a mangled piece off.

Once again the corrupted Sadira surprised himself. He seemed to do that a lot this latest weeks. The burning hot day had slowly converted into a decent temperate evening. They had her. His planned route was towards Twilight Vale and Cercelee, but a scent he automatically would recognize anywhere tickled his nostrils too soon after he had left the Dahlia de Mai borders behind. Pitch black fire set the remaining pieces of his soul alight. He instantly turned around to face the deeper part of the unclaimed sunrise territory. He had been in a hurry moments ago, but he had something that should prevent the coyotes from harming Firefly.

The farm house was empty, but the male held a good speed and followed the invisible trail with the nose as main guide. Conri looked tranquil and fairly normal where he stood, a fruit in his hand. A smile settled on Haku’s features. It reminded him of his days of youth. The former Clouded Tears boy had solemnly lived of fruits and vegetables for a long period of time. Maybe the thought had been to become a serious vegetarian, but the idea had been trashed after a decent amount of months.

So close to Dahlia, and yet you choose not to come visit us, Conri? Closer, want to get closer.. Haku was not really one that sneaked up behind one’s back. Leader or not, here there would be blood. The increasing dark was slightly in the Lilium’s favor, it hid some of the obvious rage in shadows. For once the chocolate male did not bother to hide his intention. His words had been called out, but he did not halt, simply continued to walk towards the leader he had only seen once on the silly ’leader’ meeting. Leader or nee, Haku cared very little.

It was the first taste of that type of fruit that he had ever had. Despite the extreme hunger that had taken him, Conri took the time to roll the small piece around in his mouth, down across his tongue in careful motions before biting in to it. The juice was sweet and plentiful, like nothing that the young hybrid had ever tasted, and he relished in the new experience for a short moment. His stomach, all the while, roared growls of protest, urging him on to gulp the fruit down and be done with it. It was the sound of somewhere near that brought the almost tranquil experience to a halt. Steps from behind him, which caused his arm to drop to his side, releasing the apple with a thud to the ground.

The voice haunted him or, rather, something else inside of him. It was like a memory from a dream or something else vaguely familiar. Turning suddenly, Conri brought his arm up to wipe away the small bit of juice that had gathered at the corners of his mouth. The voice continued to laugh at him, taunt him, but when jade eyes settled on the figure it turning into something like a hiss, a small voice that uttered a name in his ear. "Haku.." The name slid out with ease, though it was something that Conri barely recognized. In his head he was in a panic, confused and feeling less and less in control, but his body spoke mountains. His movements were suddenly fluid, careful and purposeful, and he brought his hand to his chin, scratching there a moment.

"Did you miss me, dear?" He practically purred, the grin of a madman stretching across his features, up in to calm eyes. "Are you still drinking?" He asked then, one brow raised in a curious manner, his hand finally dropping to rest idly at his side. There were faint images in his head, things that Conri simply didn't understand, but something else inside of him knew exactly what was going on.

One step, two steps, closing up. His smile was a mix of a silent snarl and an incoming laugh that never seemed to arrive. The man with the single arm seemed too tranquil for the chocolate wolf. No worries, Haku knew how to deal with such things. The apple dropped in slow-motion down to the ground. Cercelee’s words meant nothing. His rank and the reputation of Dahlia de Mai meant nothing whatsoever to him right now, if it ever really had in the first place. He was just Cercelee’s tool to clean up the unfortunate mess that had arrived at Dahlia’s doorsteps(with of course a little help from him). The cream and chocolate arms floated back and forth fitting his movements. Fingers flexed unconsciously and the claws clicked against each other merrily, knowing they would soon dig into something warm and living.

Haku.. The three year old male’s movements halted slightly, but of course Conri knew his name just as well as Haku knew his. Then, less expected words crept to the surface, and the brown male allowed himself to almost completely stop up. Brilliant blue eyes took in the other male more intensely. What was this? His cocoa tail hang limb behind him, blank like he wanted his mind to be. Haku’s face darkened slightly into a calmer set state. The two of them had merely met once, but there was something not quite right in the wicked smile of his. Conri’s words did not make any sense. Still drinking? Fact was, Haku knew from the very start who the young cinnamon male reminded him of, but it was not an option to let his mind be toyed with by a simple three limb creature.

Not today. Every now and then, but oh no, not today. I need to be clear in the head so that I can be able to truly enjoy what I am about to do to you. His salmon tongue flickered out between white fangs perfectly designed for what he intended to do. He would enjoy this. Though.. his heart pounded a bit too fast for a reason.

The anger in the other male's eyes was easy to see, practically seeping from the corners. It was unfortunate though, in some way, that neither the young man or the ghostly voice inside him knew what exactly the issue was. Whatever the case, Conri had done something to anger the larger male, and he seemed to be seeking revenge for it now. Despite this, his body was still and his grin immobile, jade eyes dancing across the figure of the other male. "You were so young then.." He mused quietly, taking the time to look over him carefully, to see just how much he had grown since then. Haku was larger now, even more sure of himself than he vaguely remembered.

Ears cupped forward to take in the spoken words, watching the expression on the other male's face carefully. The grin on his only grew and, for a brief moment, he was still. Finally though, he took a few more steps forward, closing the space between them, clicking his tongue against the roof of his mouth as he moved. "You're going to return the favor from that night, then?" He asked suddenly, almost innocently, head cocked carefully to the side as he spoke. The urge hit rather suddenly, the thought of reach out and touching him, brushing his fingers along the other man's chest, but it was held back for the time. Instead, he took another step forward, always closer, and spoke once more. "Or have you forgotten all about me, Haku?"

More than two years ago. Haku had merely been a young boy, though his heart had already been pinched with inner disease that had made him to who he was today, there was one that had caught the heart’s attention. The man had been a killer, but love did actually make people blind. How is it possible to fall in love by one single meeting? Haku was not able to answer any questions about love. First and only time he had felt what he supposed was the actual feeling. Though, the girl back in the land of wildflowers was slowly making the cold organ beat again. Haku allowed himself to look at the other male from a different point of view, the eyes of a stranger. The young male indeed had some of Hollow’s features, and he had his voice, the long dead hybrid’s voice.

Haku was not moving any longer. The chocolate brute let a shrug escape as the ghost wondered if he was to return the ’favor’. Such acts had been far from his mind. Haku had been thinking of redoing his masterpiece from the Inferni grounds or something like that, if he managed. Getting closer. Haku’s jaw dropped slightly. No, never forgotten, never. The light collapsed into earth and only him and the hybrid was left. Rage and violence fled his body and left him with nothing but a silent tone of something sad. In truth, he was, and it could be seen in the ocean blue eyes of his. So it is as I feared. Shadows and monsters did in fact exist, but now Haku knew for certain that Hollow was dead and gone. Yet, was it an imprint of the same male he had in front of him? Oh how he wished it was not so, he wanted the real thing

Teeth jammed together painfully. All this time, and the voice that had haunted his dreams spoke to him while awake. You're dead. His words hesitated and were spoken with a touch of pain in the edges. He had known and believed the male was gone forever, but it is odd how the little hope always survived and stayed in a forgotten corner of the soul. Or.. the rests of Haku’s soul. Oh, did he not know this voice..

It had been, perhaps, by simple change that Hollow had been able to bring himself to this son. Before it had been Stygian, the one who had opened himself up to enough pain and torment to allow Hollow to bind himself. It had changed quickly though, at the very first sign that something was going wrong with his eldest, he was there. There was little more joy in the world that being able to torment the one that had caused your death, flesh and blood or not. He was there now though, while not in the same lands as where he had died, he was at least surrounded by the same group of creatures. Most of them, anyways.

"You didn't think I'd really just die and be gone forever, did you?" His voice was smooth, perhaps slightly surprised. Even in life Hollow knew that he would never really be gone. There wasn't a thing in the world, or out of, that would keep him away. If anything, there was something keeping him around. Someone that he needed to watch over, to make amends with. Sort of like his 'unfinished business'. He would be there until the moment that the life left her body, even if it took a million years, just to make sure that she was safe and loved. To make sure that she led the life that he never did. The boy paused a moment, jade eyes washing over the larger male's form, before he finally stepped forward once more.

Lifting his arm, reaching out his hand, the hybrid moved to brush his fingers across the larger man's chest, or at least to attempt to. "You know.." He mused in the dark, ever smiling. "I had always wondered what became of you." At the very least, his words were the truth. There had been something different about that young man, something that Hollow hadn't quite been able to grasp. "But I see your here now, making something of yourself." Exactly what, he wasn't quite sure, but he had heard things, seen things, and perhaps it was some unknown fact in the back of his mind. Perhaps, somehow, he knew that Haku might turn in to some kind of monster. Something ever close to what he had been.
