Ta'Tuq is a barn owl, and Naniko's companion :3

Ta'Tuq had alerted her to the presence of the other canine before they had even been able to cross the border. Naniko sat on a high, solid tree-limb, watching their approach with intensity in her jade gaze. Her claws dug into the bark beneath her, fingers tightening around the branch in anticipation of what was to come. The canine seemed unaware of her as they crossed below, their black pelt allowing them to fade into the shadows every few moments as they passed beneath objects below her. The beast paused when they reached the borders, looking around a few times before choosing to breach them and step into Anathema.

She waited still, unsure if they were really that stupid or if they were simply confused by the border. She couldn't smell them very well due to her height, but occasionally caught a mixture of scents on the breeze. They were a loner. Maybe they were trying to cross through the territory on their way over the mountain, and did not want to go around. That choice would be their death. As they continued into the packlands, she dropped down from the tree. Naniko was in her optime form today, wearing nothing but her usual weapons-belt. She carried an axe and two daggers, along with the ceremonial dagger that she used to initiate members into the pack. As she approached the stranger she gave a signal to Ta'Tuq with her hand. The owl began screeching loudly in alarm, disappearing off into the trees. He'd bring more pack members to help Naniko deal with this intruder.

I hope you don't mind me. We haven't had a thread in a minute! Macer is in lupus form.

[html]

He was so close. The fat brown rabbit calmly plucked at purple berries, unaware of the speckled predator crouching a few yards away. Macer stood completely still, his head level with his shoulders, sienna eyes narrowed intently. The rabbit had only to move around the bush a little more, and he could spring with a fair chance of success. Grinning smugly, he was already salivating, eager to taste the creature's flesh.

A sudden eruption of feathers and urgent shrieks ruined the wolfdog's hunt. He wasn't even able to look away from the owl in time to see his meal disappear. Scowling, the hybrid gazed up at the magnificent bird, his lips pulled back and a growl of deep irritation waiting in his throat. But the owl was looking straight at him with its great, alarmed eyes and Macer remained silent, now also disturbed. This creature appeared to be beckoning him. It had to belong to one of Anathema's wolves, which would explain its erratic behavior.

His hunger forgotten, the greyscale boy loped after the beautiful animal, nearly frantic with excitement. The Zepar had never been needed for much of anything, and suddenly he had the opportunity to assist with some kind of pack crisis.

Macer followed the owl's path to a tall, strong werewolf standing alert. The boy slowed abruptly, his eyes large. The alabaster woman he approached was Naniko, Anathema's leader. Macer could not help but notice that she was also gorgeous, despite being several years older than he was. The hybrid inhaled slowly and went to her. His stature lowered, he tried his best to make steady eye contact with the Angela. "Naniko, what's wrong?" he asked earnestly. He didn't really need an answer. He knew the scent of the stranger even before his gaze followed hers to the black beast wandering too close.

Of course I don't!! I missed you so much ;__; Also, feel free to PP the NPC doing whatever you need it to =o

As the Ta'Tuq harsh shrieks filled the air around her, the black intruder's wide eyes turned to watch the owl's flight path. Naniko slid around to the other side of the tree, continuing to watch. She wasn't normally so harsh with newcomers...ones who were respectful and who knew their place, anyway. She had waited and watched long enough to know that this canine was not among those. She judged them to be either an infiltrator, sent by another...or a canine of great laziness who could not be bothered to skirt the pack territory on their way over Halcyon. Either way, the loner had made their decision and would have to live with it. Or die with it.

The wolf became aware of her presence quite suddenly as the winds turned and brought her scent to their nose. Their eyes opened even wider, searching around in a paranoid manner. Her ears caught a light shuffling sound from the woods beyond and she turned her head slightly so she could see who it was. Ah, Macer. She had seen the male around, but hadn't had any real interaction with him yet. "We've got to get him before he gets away...and teach him a nice lesson." She motioned back behind her, to where the wolf had been. In the few moments that it had taken her to greet Macer, the animal had slunk back into the shadows.

"Tatuq can help us flush him out..he's got great nighttime vision and can see through the shadows better." At least, that was what she believed. The owl often came back to the caves with mice and voles that it had hunted, even on the darkest, most moonless nights. Her focus wasn't on the male's respectful show of submission, too caught up with thoughts of the chase and on how the blood of that intruder would taste on her teeth. The owl seemed to understand what she wanted from him and landed silently on her shoulder for a few moments before launching himself back up into the air. "Come, my pet." She said to the barn owl, motioning for Macer to come along as well. "Let's bring him down."

He gets to kill a shoadow wolf for a good reason! Yay!

The alarm had sounded, not the crows, but an owl. Liam, in his rarely used but powerful secui form, hurried to see what the alarm was, where the panic was. He arrived in time to hear the Angela murmur to both owl and Zepar. His golden eyes blinked, the butterflies filling in the blanks for the Schizophrenic male. An intruder, a shadow wolf. One and the same. His ears laid back, a soft rumble of hatred for the unwanted stranger coming from him. He slipped into formation easily, no words needed. He would help with the interloper, show the Angela how good he was at what he did.

His mind drifted back to his mate and their pups in the den. She had told him that there had been three, but they'd lost one in birth. He hated the idea that even one had been lost. He knew it happened, yes, but there had been two healers there, supposedly. Panda and Amy, two canines he wasn't sure if he trusted them or how far. Amy had slid a knife into him. And panda, well... she was black. And White. He was totally unsure of how to handle her.

He blinked, returning his attention to the shadows where the shadow had vanished.

Macer watched the intruder carefully now. The dark creature was aware that it had been spotted, moving with intensity as the breeze shifted. The wolfdog's features twisted into a disgusted sneer. He had no patience for insolence, especially when it involved respecting pack territories. There were few things more important to a pack than keeping borders secure.. Macer glanced at his pale leader when she bluntly explained their plan, admiring the authority of her voice.

Fighting a grin, he nodded obediently and followed when she beckoned. It was not the time to marvel at the situation he found himself in, so the hybrid instead fixed all of his focus on the trespasser, thinking of its crime against Anathema. The thuds of heavy footsteps sounded from behind them and Macer whipped his gaze over his shoulder in alarm. But it was only Anathema's grey Abigor. The boy in him preferred to impress Naniko on his own, although he knew that a group would be more effective than a pair.

The black canine saw the trio closing in and stopped in its tracks. It appeared indecisive, retreating a few steps in a thoughtless manner. Macer felt his heart pound, his face grow hot. His hackles spiked like needles along his ruff. This was an idiotic, lackadaisical creature. He truly hoped it would give them a reason to kill it.

Sorry for making you two wait so long! Forgive me? D: <3 Also, I plan to have a family member of the deceased come and attack Naniko in my next post, giving her a few new facial scars :3 Pack members are still welcomed to join in on this, if anyone else is interested as well!

It seemed as if the stranger thought that he could outrun them. Ta'Tuq wheeled above them, circling over the tops of the trees with his sharp yellow eyes trained on the outsider. What a fool, to think that he could outrun three pack wolves and an owl. Perhaps he hadn't noticed the bird overhead and thought that the owl was just another part of nature, an insignificant speck against the backdrop of blue that hung over them all. Naniko grinned widely as they took off after the unwelcomed beast, eyes narrowed as they approached the slower creature. The female's hackles had been raised since she first had spotted the intruder but now her fur seemed to explode, puffing out and making her appear even larger than she already was.

"What do you think you're doing, trespassing on our lands?" The outsider was lucky that he was even being given a chance to respond. Her words had come in a growl, a growl that now continued as she drew her axe from its spot on her belt. More than likely, there would be some hacking and slashing...but it would all depend on the response that they got. If he was apologetic or confused, she would consider a lesser punishment. "I don't see where it's any of your business, bitch. I see you brought some bodyguards with you...what, can't fight your own battles?" The loner spat. Naniko allowed the insult to slide over her, looking from side to side at Liam and Macer before giving a quick and quiet order. "Kill him."

OOC: Sorry I'm late for the party, hope you don't mind Kai popping up - he wouldn't miss out on the chance to kill something :-)[WC: 319 || Pts: 3

Kai had initially ignored the sounds in the distance - he had heard some sort of bird screeching but that had been about it. Enough for him to lift his head from his kill, but not enough to get him to part with it. It would take a herd of wild horses to drag him away from his dinner. Returning his attention to the dead deer before him as he lay with it, his muzzle once more buried into it's body, chewing hungrily at the meat, gulping it down eagerly. But then, the noises he had heard earlier seemed to be growing louder. A chase, perhaps? A hunt? It was possible - there were plenty of prey around the place. His head lifted, his muzzle matted in blood and his ears perked in his Secui form, his feral eyes scanning the land. He remained utterly still as he listened and to his surprise, the chase came right towards him. Kai merely watched with interest as an unknown male ran from Anathema wolves. Kai's gaze fixed upon Naniko, his Alpha female, and another male he didn't recognize. His eyes also fell upon a male he did recognize and that he didn't particularly like or get along with. Liam.

It seemed none of them had seen him yet. But As Kai heard the unknown male's words towards Naniko, his tone, Kai's muscles all tensed and slowly, he rose from his position next to the dead deer, more or less behind the intruder. Kai's black form quietly stepped towards the group, unseen by the rude stranger, hearing Naniko's order to kill him. Kai's muzzle broke into a slow smirk but he didn't move. Naniko had given the order to Liam and this other Anathema male, but Kai was in a position which might come in useful if the male turned to flee - he would find an aggressive looking Kai blocking his path.
