Peace was something that, in Regner’s opinion, he had far to much of nowadays. It seemed as though his life had ground to a halt recently, his lack of energy and now near constant chest pains preventing him from doing much more than wander slowly around the fort of the nearby sections of forest; anything more left him in extreme pain and almost too tired to return to the fort. Regner hadn’t used his Secui form in weeks by this point; it simply took too much energy compared to his Optime or Lupus forms.

At the moment he was in Optime form, sat back against a tree with his eyes half closed, a thin trail of smoke rising from the pipe held loosely in his mouth. The elderly warrior hadn’t wandered too far today, he was about a mile or so out from the fort which was far smaller than he could actually manage, but he had decided to stop before he got tired and enjoy the day. Or at least that had been his plan until a small wrong movement sent pain lancing through his chest and him into a coughing fit.

Eventually Regner managed to stop coughing and with a grimace he removed his pipe from his mouth, eyes wandering over the red liquid almost stained into the tip of it. His chest had been getting steadily worse for a long time now, the stabbing pain he often felt much stronger and ever since a week ago he had started coughing up blood when the coughing fits took him.

Sighing deeply Reger closed his eyes and placed his pipe down on the grass besides him. He was dying and he knew it, had known for quite some time. The elderly warrior couldn’t bring himself to just give up though, that wasn’t the type of wolf that he was and to do so would worry Adelle; much as the pup hero worshipped him even she would notice eventually that something was wrong but, selfish as it was to not tell her of his condition, Regner wanted to see her happy for as long as he could.
