Alastar
One of the most adventurous things left us is to go to bed. For no one can lay a hand on our dreams.

OOC Text: This is forward-dated to July 21st Big Grin

Alastar bounded eagerly around the bear and her friend Athena. From what she understood, the little wolf-dog would, for the first time, be getting to see Nanuak's southern fishing grounds near the ruins of a city called Halifax. She was vibrating with excitement. It had taken Mato some convincing, but in the end she'd done it, and now, four days later on the threshold of the mighty city, Alastar let out a howl of happiness. She had pranced up a rock, positioned above the bear and pup. With a giggle she pounced on top of Nanuak and wrestled with the bear-fur, then plopped off onto the ground beside the brown pup. Her furry fluffy tail wagged back and forth, and she barked at the bear. She could sense that they'd almost reached their destination.

Nanuak! I gotta thank you again! I's so excited to eat the fish an' hunt 'em an' eat 'til my belly 'splodes! This time Alastar turned to Athena and chased her companion's tail. Me an' you's gonna catch all da fishes. We're gonna catch as many as yer mama, an' eat 'em an' der gonna be so good! The little pup could not contain her energy at all. The trip was long, and though she was afraid it would be more tiring to her, it was quite the opposite. Each day they came closer to Halifax, Alastar's energy levels bubbled under her muscles and caused her to become a bounding ball of fur. Nanauk's teachings along the trip had done her well. She had learned valuable knowledge about plants, and how fish migrated, but she was far more interested in seeing the southern big water, and the ruins of this city. She had passed some ruins when she came down the coast away from her parents, and they looked so awesome! Had she not been in a hurry to find a new home, the little one would have certainly stopped to explore.

Even now, when Nanuak informed them that the city was actually going to be in their sights soon, Alastar giggled madly and zipped around the other two. Where we gonna stay? the wolf-dog pup managed to spurt out to Nanuak just before she bolted off in front of the bear again.

I wish I was strong enough to lift not one, but both of us.

Athena

The circumstances of ones birth are irrelevant. It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.

OOC Text:

Athena giggled at Alastar. Her new friend was incredibly energetic and she could feel the energy from her almost as well as she could feel the wind in her fur and the grass at her feet. Barking she chased after the wolf-dog. Its been a few days, Athena didn’t know how many, since they started their journey. After the first time that Athena had met Alastar , Athena’s bear mother, Nanuak had stated that they would be adventuring south for a little bit. The brown wolf pup remembered it clearly, at the mention of the word adventure she had jumped and barked and asked her bear mom if Alastar could go too. Nanuak had been a little leery of the idea but she eventually came around and said it would be good for Athena to have a travel companion the same age as her. That was when Athena raced off to find her best friend and tell her that they would be going on an adventure with Nanuak for a few days.

Since the journey began, Alastar and Athena together had been running and getting into things as they traveled. It had been a relatively peaceful journey and they hadn’t encountered any mishaps, as of yet. Throughout their journey, Nanuak had been giving them verbal lessons of plants and berries that are good to eat and those that are to avoid as well as the ones that can be used for simple healing purposes. Athena asked many questions about the healing properties of plants but Nanuak was no healer and quickly averted the lesson to birds, which seemed to sate the pup. The lessons also covered the basics of catching fish, different types of birds and how to pick out a place to sleep at night while traveling.

Now as they were nearing their destination, the pups were literally glowing with excitement and energy. There were moments when the large grizzly bear laughed at the antics of the pair and although she had been stern throughout the trip that they stay close and be quieter, now she just let them have at it. Athena raced after Alastar as she darted ahead of the bear and tackled her, sending the two rolling. The brown wolf pup jumped to her feet as she laughed and took off to jump up on one of the numerous rock formations that jutted out of the ground. With her chest heaving she crouched down on the rock and smirked as she watched Alastar, planning on tackling her the next chance she got. Nanuak just grinned at the two. Yes we’ll be hunting a lot of fish very soon and as far as where we’ll be staying .. On the far side of the ruins there is a river and we’ll be able to find a cave to stay in. Athena piped up, thoughts of pouncing Alastar diminished as she leaped off the rock and trotted over to her bear mother. We’re gonna be stayin’ in a cave?! Athena hadn’t been in a cave before. Her and her bear mother usually just curled up together in the crook of some roots of a large tree. The roots opened up enough that it formed a bit of a shelter and the way the ground was, they pretty much slept right under the tree. Nanuak had explained that a cave was pretty much the same but made out of rock. This thought boggled Athena’s mind so the idea of sleeping in one excited her to no end. Yipping happily she darted after Alastar who had been chasing her tail.

Time stands still, beauty and all she is.

Rushed yet rambling posts FTW.

Nate chased after his father energetically, his oversized paws falling over themselves. They were finally here! It had taken them a long time, and Frodo had even had to ride his horse a little bit when they'd got tired of walking. Of course, Nate had been in his father's arms the whole time, but it had been a pretty scary experience, and the Silvertooth boy wasn't sure if he liked horses very much, especially riding them. Still, maybe it was something he'd grow into. For one thing, he couldn't wait until his first shift. Frodo had already been telling the boy-pup all about what to expect, and his tail wagged simply at the thought. He wanted to draw, and read, and write. He wanted to learn more things. Learning was fun.

His father scooped him up in large hands, and carried him wiggling through a door and into a darker environment. That was strange, because he'd thought it was daytime. Dark, Fa? Nate asked, a little bit scared. He didn't like being afraid of the dark, but he couldn't help it. He was scared of anything he didn't know about, or couldn't see. Shh, now. said Frodo, carrying the pup through a corridor and through another door, into a room with windows and filled with light. Nate breathed a sigh of relief and squirmed out of his father's hands, to explore and sniff and jump. It smelt wrong though, stuffy somehow, and mouldy. This wasn't what he expected "inside" to be like. Inside was like the town hall in AniWaya, fresh and clean, and open. Or his home-hut, tidy and neat, and homely. This just seemed...dead. It scared him. He leapt upon a moth-eaten couch, springs sticking out of it at odd angles, and yipped impatiently. We can finds stuff now 'cuz nothink 'ere an' icky? he asked his dad, wanting to go somewhere else to find the junk they'd come for. The plan was to find furniture to bring back with them. His dad looked distracted though, looking at something Nate couldn't see, nor understand. Fa? he asked, running up to smooth his head against his father's leg. Sorry kiddo, looks like I'm going solo on this one. Must hop off. Listen, yer stay here, don't talk to anyone or nuthin', got me? his dad asked, in that weird to some people but familiar to Nate voice of his. Nate sighed and nodded his head, his black eyes widening as Frodo walked out of the room, firmly closing the latch behind him.

Nate ran around in the abandoned room for a while, but the scents were stale and ugly. He cried and whined a little, angry at being left alone, and so he ran to the door and tried to open it. But it was stuck fast, and he couldn't reach the latch. This was one of the times that the runty boy wished he was taller... and then he spotted the slight crack in the window. Just small enough for a small boy to squeeze through. Nate-River smirked to himself and leapt upon the ledge, gingerly pushing his tiny frame up and out of the jagged glass. Somehow, he didn't get any cuts on his way, and soon leapt out into the open. Free and alone, once again.

He wanted to let out a howl of pleasure at his triumph, but he held his tongue for fear of his dad discovering him so early in his adventure. He only wanted to be found when he was bored, tired, and/or hungry. For now, he was neither, and he wanted to play. The boy let out a hop, skip, and a jump, spurting into a jog and then a run that was somehow less puppyish and more wild as he got into a better rhythm. He was enjoying himself, running, when he spotted something huge up ahead. WHEEEE! he screamed, and then started heading for the huge thing, whatever it was. It smelt weird! Very weird. If he had ever came across the scent before, he'd forgotten it, for now it seemed fresh and new.

Somehow, he managed to catch up with the creature, and he spotted it's - or her, as he had determined - bulking form herd two pups perhaps a close age to himself. Pups! He had never been so delighted! And two of them! Too bad they were girls. But that couldn't be helped, yet. WAI'! he demanded, scooting over to slide his body in front of the team, so they could see him. He usually got overlooked, being so tiny and runty. Wow, Nate never sees other pup! 'Part fro' mah sis' but she a silly 'nana, ha! he then looked up at the creature, that was in fact a bear, and grinned hopelessly. WOWIEE, yuh a BIG wolf! Nate never sees a thing so big, he never sees a thing so tall ! Butd he never see a ear so small! he commented, noting the bear's lack of floppy, perky ears.

Alastar
One of the most adventurous things left us is to go to bed. For no one can lay a hand on our dreams.

OOC Text: Horribly embarrassing short post >.<

Word Count:245

The black and white wolf-dog reacted first. Alastar's golden eyes grew wide and her tail raised to attention, as did her ears. A growl instinctively raised from her throat. She looked once to Athena, then to Nanuak, and back to the little pup. So...ya think Nanuak is a wolf...? She tilted her head but then giggled a bit. Is a bear you silly! You never seen a bear? Alastar grinned at the little one. His scent carride of himself and another wolf, she could tell, but again that was all.

Then another thought struck the wolf-dog pup. Why was he out here? Had he ran away like she did? Or did he just...not have wolf parents, like Athena? He should be taken care of. It wasn't right for any wolf to be alone, and just like how she and Athena had become friends, Alastar resolved that she and this new pup would become friends. She did not want this pup to be kidnapped by the evil wolf, like she herself was. No...she'd already make a promise to herself that this pup would not be alone, if she had anything to say about it.

She looked up to the bear. Where's yer parents bud? Alastar asked as she stepped closer to the little one. Then she looked back at Nanuak. Reckon we gonna find a cave now? Is gotta be big! Bigger 'an mine an' Mato's. She giggled and flexed her front paws in eager anticipation.

I wish I was strong enough to lift not one, but both of us.

Athena

The circumstances of ones birth are irrelevant. It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.

OOC Text:

Athena was surprised when the young pup jumped out in front of them. He was small but he had enough personality for two wolves. The pup intrigued her and she wondered why he was all alone. Regardless, Athena was delighted to meet this young wolf and she wanted to play. He was also very funny and she laughed at his comments about her bear mother. Dis is my Bear momma, she’s not a wolf do. Nanuak also smiled at the young wolf. Why hello there, what is your name and what are you doing out here by yourself? Are you lost, young one? Athena looked up at Nanuak and looked at her intently. Nanuak looked like she was uncertain of something and Athena guessed that she was thinking the same thing she was when they first met Alastar. This was proven when Nanuak spoke up again, Where is your pack?

Athena glanced at her travel companion, the black and white wolf was anxious to find their cave and the mention of it made the brown pup just as anxious again. She remembered the other wolf pup though and she bounded over to him, not really worried of anything. Athena giggled at him, Chur a funny wolf! My name’s Athena and this is my pal Alastar and my bear momma. Athena wagged her tail furiously as she awaited his reply to her bear momma’s questions.

Time stands still, beauty and all she is.
