Neela padded slowly through the forest, nose twitching as she tried to make her way along a half familiar path through scent alone. She had set off for Arte early in the morning and had managed to keep up an average pace, arriving at her current spot around midday. Considering how quickly Neela tired now and how much extra weight was pressing down on her legs from her pup swollen stomach she counted this as a fair achievement.

Eventually the scent of Arte’s borders reached Neela’s nose, a faint flowery smell that Neela was half familiar with from her occasional visits to see Jace. Smiling Neela started to move forwards, her nose twitching as she approached the scent boundary and the smells drifting into her nose got stronger and stronger. Eventually the smells intensified to the point that a boundary was clear; Neela had reached Cercatori D’Arte.

Neela stopped a few metres out from the border, sniffing to check she hadn’t accidentally intruded. Jace was Neela’s friend and she doubted she would attack her for an accidental intrusion of a meter or so but it was polite to make sure she hadn’t. Satisfied she hadn’t broken the boundary by accident Neela reared her head back and howled, sending a melodious tone echoing out over Arte’s lands, calling specifically for Jace.

She was a captive woman now surrounded by walls of concern and caring and despite it all and how ungrateful it was of her she was starting to feel smothered and suffocated by it. There was nowhere that she could turn that a worried face peered at her from. Her dizziness had only gotten worse and she was reliant on her staff to walk at all otherwise she found herself forced to the nearest solid upright structure to lean against as her vision swam before her eyes.

The children contained within her wriggled about fiercely, making her stomach roll and nausea rise. Her gorge rose and the arctic woman struggled to hold down her last meal that churned uneasily in her belly. She leaned against the door frame and breathed in the outside air frantically, feeling incredibly run down and exhausted. She shut her eyes for a moment, resting her head on the cool wood. Why was it so hard this time around. She allowed herself the smallest fraction of self pity before forcing herself to perk up and stand tall.

Neela's voice interrupted her thoughts and she lumbered about slowly, staring off into the distance as though her gaze could pierce the length of trees and hills that stretched between her house and the borders. It was a call for her and despite her aching body and tired mind she was excited. It took her a long time to plod her way to the borders but eventually she made it, even more tired than before now she had to lean against her staff to stay upright. Her tail wagged slowly as she greeted her old friend. It was too good to be true that her friend had a similar surprise for her in her rounded stomach.

Neela waited patiently after she had howled, eyes watching the Arte side of the border sharply and tail wagging in anticipation of seeing her friend. Her tail’s movement reached a peak as she spied Jace’s multicoloured figure approaching from out of the trees and Neela raised her head to bark in greeting, rushing forwards towards her friend.

With both of them pregnant hugging was awkward but Neela still managed it, tilting her body to one side as she threw her arms around Jace. ”Jace, its good to see you.” she said happily, releasing her friend and stepping backwards a few pace, ”How have you been?” she asked, eyes roaming over Jace. She had known about her friend’s pregnancy since she had been told at the Casa ball but Jace hadn’t been particularly large at the time, that certainly wasn’t the case now.

It was indeed awkward with them both round stomached but Jace would not have changed it at all for anything in the world as she held her dear friend close. They had been through too much together to let a little distance separate them even with their prone conditions, Neela was out of the danger zone now and if need be Jace would ask Temo or Honrin to escort her back to Casa di Cavalieri, the men she could trust to keep her beloved sister safe. Not that she didn't trust Keldava but well, it was different for the males, daughters were to be kept close and cherished.

"Not one day doesn't go by I don't wish this pregnancy were over and then I realise, if it were over I would still be just as tired and exhausted having to chase around young puppies again." She grinned her wide smile, amused at her own joke. She didn't wish to remain stood at her own borders though where any miscreant could come along and harass them,

"Would you like a tour of Thornbery? We could sit down as well and have a drink, I can get you something to eat. You shouldn't have come such a long way by yourself." And she was off again, attempting to mother Neela like she did her own children.

Neela chuckled at Jace’s comment, ”Much rather have the latter though. Puppies are cute, this belly is just annoying, and heavy.” she replied, patting her stomach. ”If I weren’t stronger than ah looked ah’d be havin problems with my back I bet. It’s like hauling stuff about on the ship, only I don’t get to go for a run after I’m done.” The pups weren’t quite as heavy as Neela’s grousing made them out to be but they were taking somewhat of a strain on her.

Her ears perked up and her mouth curled into an amused grin as Jace started to mother over her. Neela withstood the storm of concern for a few moments before laughing and holding her hands up placatingly, ”Calm down Jace, I’m pregnant, not helpless. If I cooped myself up inside the territory already by the time I’ve spent an entire month stuck without being able to go anywhere I’ll probably have gone crazy.” Neela grinned and then stepped forwards, slinging one one arm around Jace’s shoulders.

”I’d love a tour around Thornbury though, and I think I’ll take you up on that offer of some food, hungry business this walking thing. How;re the kids doing? I saw Dalgina when she came to the Casa ball but otherwise I haven’t really heard much from them.”
