Hotaru had only heard whispers of what had happened. She knew that Jace had given birth, but it had not gone as smoothly as when Aiden and Aysun were born. Although Hotaru had been on edge and had growled ferociously at Dalgina and Levent, she hadn't stuck anyone. To hear that Jace had injured her own pup was horrifying. The grey wolf's instincts cried out in outrage, demanding that the mother pay for injuring her pup. Yet, she had a new litter and was caring for new life. Was it really Hotaru's place to demand justice? No. So she stayed quiet and kept her thoughts to herself.

Dalgina was on the new mother's mind as she nursed her puppies. They were over a week old and had doubled in size. According to Levent, the puppies eyes had yet to open. Hotaru couldn't wait till the puppies opened their eyes for the first time. She didn't want her pups to live in perpetual darkness, she wanted them to enjoy the light and colors that she once knew so well. Just as Dalgina did. The older pup had gained skills in painting and drawing and Hotaru was always happy to hear her describe her most recent masterpieces. Yet, since the birth of her siblings, Dalgina had been missing from the village.

The grey wolf had decided that it was time to retrieve her young friend. When Aysun and Aiden had finished nursing, Hotaru gently put them to bed before she headed out. Hotaru took a moment to shift into her lupus form and together with Fawkes, she set out too look for Dalgina. Kelia was assigned on guard duty that day, although she chirped as the two left, her wish to leave with them evident.

Once outside, Hotaru put her nose to the air and howled for the young female. Without waiting for a response, she put all of her tracking skills to the test and searched for her missing friend.

Dalgina was curled up, deep in the woods. She had slipped away from her family when the pups were born, too frightened to face what had happened. The blood running down Honrin's face refused to leave her mind, the poor wolf suffering from nightmares. Ovi did his best to comfort her, with Tehu shouting insults to the world in his attempts to keep his friend safe. She was nestled warmly into the bright orange and black coat when the howl rang out through the air.

Dalgina glanced up, though she didn't move from her spot. Ovi gently licked at her ears, his face soft and gentle. They're looking for you. I know. She just didn't want to be found. She didn't want to go home. She didn't want to know that Mahn was willing to hurt her and her siblings. She wanted to forget that had happened. Tehu flew off at the call though, heading to get Taru and bring her to Dalgina.

The blind female searched for Dalgina, however, it wasn't easy to find a wolf that didn't want to be found. Hotaru had the advantage of her enhanced senses, but all that did was bring her to the forest where Dalgina resided. Fawkes flew around in wide circles, calling to the grey wolf occasionally. It wasn't until the distraught Tehu flew their way that Hotaru was able to finally find Dalgina.

Hotaru gave a nod to Ovidu as she approached the frightened pup. The lupus wolf moved slowly and silently, unsure of how Dalgina would respond to her presence. Fawkes and Tehu could be heard in the branches above, conversing softly in low speech as they discussed what had happened. As the blind female approached, she let out a low whine. Her usual dominance and confidence was still there, but it was laced with worry. "Dalgina. It's me. Can you talk to me?"

The female stopped her approach, listened and sniffing for any signs of aggression form the pup. A fearful wolf could be just as dangerous as a pregnant one. Even so, Hotaru refused to allow Dalgina to wallow away in the woods by herself. The older female wanted to be there for her young friend, to be the adult that Dalgina could look up too and confide in.

Ovi let out a content huff as Taru appeared. It was someone that could actually care for Dalgina better than a tiger could. Tehu told Fawkes all about the attack, the horror of her family being injured. Dalgina could just hear their speech, curling up tighter to avoid it. A low whine brought her ears swiveling around, turning her head so that dark chocolate eyes looked back at Taru. She didn't respond beyond pressing closer to Ovi. Being attacked by her mahn had done a number on her mind.

What if Taru was here to hurt her? A small tremor ran through her frame, wondering if she could trust her friend. Taru had the same brisk nature as Mahn after all. Maybe she was here to turn on Dalgina, yell at her for not being a good daughter and running away. Maybe she was here to bring her back. A whine slipped out, ears flattening against her head. Ovi shook his head, looking over to Taru. She won't talk about it.

One reddish ear flicked towards the tiger as he gave a little huff in acknowledgement. Hotaru was somewhat intrigued with the male, wondering why he chose to join a wolf pack when he was not even a canine. However, it was not her place to judge him. Hotaru hated it when others judged her based on her disability, so she tried her best not to judge others.

A frightened whine made Hotaru's ears strain forward. She could how terrified Dalgina was and tried her best to return a sympathetic whine. Hotaru knew she couldn't be her usual gruff self, as that would only cause Dalgina to become even more fearful. Ovidiu's comment only reenforced this idea. Grimly, Hotaru nodded again to the tiger. "Oh Dalgina."

The young mother wanted to return to her pups, but she couldn't leave the young female in such a state. Raising her head, the grey female gave a signal to Fawkes. "Go watch Aiden and Aysun with Kelia. Come back as soon as they are awake." Hotrau could hear the red tailed hawks familiar wing beats as Fawkes took off. When they had receded into the distance, Hotaru returned her attention to Dalgina. The pup was scared, and for good reason. The grey female decided it would be best to lay down and wait patiently for Dalgina to come to her. She closed her eyes, resting her head on her forepaws as her ears listened carefully to the black pup.

OOC here!

A quiet whine returned towards the young wolf. It was a comforting sound, none of the anger that she had been expecting. The brown eyes remained fixed on the sightless wolf, curled in Ovi's frame. It was warm and safe there. She didn't want to leave it and face the real world, everything that had happened. Her family was torn apart, those she loved were ready to betray her. Rage was a fearsome thing, her body shaking a little as she remembered.

Her eyes watched Fawkes as he flew off, Tehu coming down to a lower branch and chirping to Dalgina, telling her to relax, that Taru wasn't going to hurt her. The artist remembered Aiden and Aysun. She had been there when they had been born. So why hadn't Taru attacked her then? Dalgina had been thrown out. Maybe Taru was ready to attack her. No, Levent had stayed and not been harmed. She'd been invited back in as well. Slowly Dalgina inched out, a low rumbling sound like a purr coming from Ovi as she reached Taru and laid down again.

The blind female waited, listening and smelling her darkened world. She knew what it felt like to be betrayed my a member of ones family. She knew the pain and fear that accompanied the loss of trust. Hotaru could still remember her brother's betrayal, how he had taken her sight and pack. The memory, while not as bitter, was still very fresh in Hotaru's mind. Thus, she understood what Dalgina was feeling.

Red ears flicked as the sound of shuffling came. The movement was quickly followed by a rumbling purr for Ovi. Hotaru grew a little excited, happy to know that Dalgina hadn't lost faith in her as well. Even so, she didn't move. Only Hotaru's ears flicked as she listened to Dalgina's movement and breathing. Her breathing remained steady, her body almost as still as a statue. Long moments passed as the frightened wolf-dog inched her way closer to to the grey wolf.

At last, Dalgina settled down besides Hotaru. Even then, the blind female did not budge. She continued to wait, hoping that Dalgina would calm down further. After nearly ten minutes, Hotaru moved, just slightly and very slowly. She tried to wrap her frame around the frightened female in a protective manner. If Dalgina shied away, the blind wolf would freeze and wait.

Taru remained still, just being there calm and quiet. It was frightening, afraid that Taru was waiting for a chance to lash out, or if Dalgina found out that she wasn't really there, that it was just her imagination. At last she reached Taru, pressing her nose against her first. Yes, she was really there. Warm and real. Dalgina moved so she laid next to Taru, head partly buried into her body. Dalgina was still tense, wanting the comfort of someone else while being afraid of asking for it.

Time passed by, Ovi padding so that he could watch, ready to step in if Dalgina panicked. Even Taru was quiet, waiting to see if Dalgina would be calmed down. She needed other wolves, not just the animals she lived with. Taru moved, Dalgina flinching for a moment before forcing herself to stay still as Taru curled around her. It was safe. Surprisingly safe. Just like when Mahn had cuddled her when she was a pup. A short whine broke free, hanging in the air, before more broke out. She didn't have a family anymore. She was too scared. Mahn would hurt her, just like she did Keldava and Honrin.

Hotaru didn't dare to move more than her ears. She understood the young female's pain and fear. The pup smelled of fear and her heart raced like frightened calf. If the grey wolf tried to force Dalgina to trust her, it would only make things worse. Dalgina might run, or attack. Either situation had to be avoided at all costs. So, Hotaru waited.

A soft nose pressed against Hotaru's shoulder, as if to see if she were really there. That one gesture almost broke the blind female's resolve. She wanted to grab Dalgina had hug her till she broke. Hotaru wanted to tell her it was alright, help her understand that the world wasn't over. But that would only make Dalgina run. So she continued to wait.

Dalgina moved closer, her head buried into Hotaru's fur as she settled down next to the older wolf. As time passed, Hotaru waited and judged the pup's mood. The blind female could hear the tiger move, but didn't pay to much attention to the shift. When at last Hotaru felt it was safe to move, she tried her best to be comforting. At first, Dalgina flinched, making Hotaru pause briefly.

At last, the pup had calmed down enough to trust Hotaru again. Breaking down, Dalgina began to whine. Her small body was shaking. The grey female began to lick Dalgina gently, offering her silent comfort and support. After several more minutes, Hotaru decided that it would be safe to speak. "Dalgina, if you don't have anywhere else to go, you are free to come stay at my house."

OOC here!

Taru's presence was gentle, reassuring. She was a warm protective blanket against the nightmares of the world. Why Taru was there for her when her Mahn wasn't she didn't know. It just ached to think about. Taru had been there at her first shift when her family hadn't been. She'd gifted Dalgina with Tehu, her closest friend, and had taught her how to speak with the birds. Her own family had decorated their home with her art, but Taru had helped her carve, and always listened to her speak about her art, despite being unable to enjoy it.

Licks caressed against Dalgina's head, soothing to the shaking pup. She couldn't stop, trying to process what had happened, and always returning to that same pain filled state she'd started in. Why was it so hard? Nodding Dalgina looked up at Taru, her voice quivering. Okay. She wanted to ask Taru why Mahn had done that. Why she had struck her family. Why Dalgina was so scared, and why her family didn't seek her out but Taru did. So many questions, and she didn't have a single answer.
