The hard and strange ground under of travel wasn’t really all that strange. If anything, it was still a familiar feeling for the Issum after his travels that had only ended a few weeks before. But, familiar or not, they were not welcome. Jaden knew himself to be a home sick wolf now. Before, when he belonged to nothing and had only himself to worry on it was different and much harder to notice. There was simply no home to miss. But now he knew with a beautiful body to love and numerous responsibilities there was simply nowhere else he’d rather be.

The only thing keeping him from that comfort now were the unnamed responsibilities. On his journey Jaden had learned that their closest neighbors were rather stuck up and unwilling to work for peace. Vinátta and its leaders were thereby labeled as a body the dark male could not trust. With feelings of superiority, discomfort at Sangi’lak’s closeness, and much larger numbers, there was no telling what they might decide to do about their unwanted nomad neighbors. So this day he was scouting about near the northern edge of Vinátta and looking for anything worth note. Streams were a good point for penetrating a guarded territory and leaving no scent to be found. Dense forest or dangerous rocky out crops offered the same possibility. Perhaps it wasn’t a good thing that he treated these wolves as enemies already but if they weren’t with him they were against him, right? That was the saying and it seemed to hold some value here.

For a fair amount of time he walked on four strong secui legs without straying noticeably close to the marked line. With a mind full of many different thoughts and eyes occupied with finding weakness, it was incredibly easy to lose track of just how far he had traveled. Before long the salty smell of sea water pulled him back to the present moment and he smiled to himself. The sea always held a wondrous attraction for the Alaskan. Even with his fear of the water itself the beauty in it was undeniable. He sped his steps a bit until the water came into view. It was indeed the salt of sea water but it wasn’t the same. He pressed his paws into the sandy shore and looked out disappointedly. There was no endless stretch of blue-green water. Land and ugly, broken human buildings could be seen on the other end of the inlet. He sat on the soft bay with a sigh and looked over his left shoulder to the board of Vinátta. It ran all the way to the sea water. He wondered idly if the same scentless penetration tactic could be used here but let it go with his disappointment. It was now time to turn back toward the comfort of home but he wanted to take a moment and tried to enjoy the sea water so close even if the view was marred. The beauty was something he missed.

Jaden does. Jaden speaks. Jaden thinks.

The dark wolf had lingered by the shore line for some time now. She was sitting in the sand, hugging her knees as she stared out at the water and the bay littered with human technologies. Her green eyes were glazed over and blank, as she had rather been thinking and musing than actually watching the water beyond the trash. At first she actually had been pondering about the water, but soon her thoughts drifted to what lay beyond the sea. The actual sea. Of course, she knew very well what was on the other side of it—Europe. Vlad had lived there for a long time, after all.

With this in mind, she began to muse over the family she'd abandoned back in Russia. How were they holding up? Were her parents still searching for her? Or had they simply forgotten her and appointed her younger brother Daniil as the heir to the Kalashnikov dynasty? Regardless, she frowned at the thought of what could've happened if she never boarded that cargo ship to Nova Scotia. Where would she be right now? Managing the wealthy trade business like her mother and father trained her to do? More than likely this was the case, and Vladislava didn't like the thought of it.

Oh, how the time passed as she sat there. She knew she ought to leave and return to her woods, but her thoughts continued to pull her into a flurry of memories from her past, when she lived in Moscow. Eventually, though, when her bottom began to ache from sitting too long, she snapped out of her daze and lifted her eyes to the sky. My, she had been there for a mighty long time! Perhaps getting on back to her cozy little forest would do her good. And, of course, a meal was to be hunted down on the way back as well. As the Russian rose to her feet, she stretched her arms over her head and rolled her neck, getting the blood pumping again. It was then she finally smelled the scent of another, and quickly looked in his direction. It was a wolf—or, more specifically, a Luperci in what appeared to be the Secui form. Vlad stared at him but didn't move toward him, deciding that one of two things would happen: either he would go about his way and ignore her presence, or he would turn back to see her and perhaps start a conversation. Either way was fine by her, but if the latter were to transpire, she wasn't going to make her move first.

The time finally felt right to head home and Jaden pulled himself from sightseeing without much hesitation. The view from celebration plateau back home was better than crumbling buildings. But while turning his gaze caught a dark colored creature sitting in the sand and stopped him abruptly. His body went stiff for a moment and he blinked to make sure he was actually seeing someone there. How did I miss her? he wondered to himself. Jaden prided himself on have keen perception so it always annoyed him when animals slipped close to him unnoticed. Annoyance was one thing though. This situation might have just gotten complicated. If this she wolf, and he could tell by the noticeable curves in her body, was part of Vinátta she might well peg him for what he was up to. Blue locked with exquisite light green for a moment and he watched for a motivation in those strangely alluring eyes. There was no hostility as was semi-expected but neither was there interest. She didn’t stand to intercept him. All he could read from her slightly foreign looking face was… expectation? An odd expression but more favorable than what had been expected.

There was something about those eyes and the gaze they shared that encouraged him to greet her before departing. If anything, showing that he was friendly might ensure she wouldn’t go reporting him to Vinátta. It was a bit paranoid but enough to get him to move toward her. His steps were sure and his tail was held at a friendly level. The urge to change and match her form stung him, but it would be a bit awkward if she had no interest in speaking with him. Hello, he called once at a reasonably comfortable distance from her, How is the view? He didn’t like it a whole lot but she might. It was something to talk about.

The stormy gray wolfess felt her eyes blink as the blue orbs of the male Secui locked onto hers. They were a nice shade, she had to say, rivalling the cleaner parts of the ocean in color and clearness. He seemed annoyed and perhaps a tad bit perplexed by something, but his expression seemed to alter somewhat as he trotted over to her, his paws slightly sinking into the sand, his tail held up in a cordial style. He greeted her, and Vladislava nodded her head at him in return, but didn't rise from her seat in the bay. "Привет," she replied, her voice soft but loud enough for the male to hear her. She didn't want to come off as rude, especially to a member of a pack. Bad reputation was something that traveled fast, and if she were to act the fool around this blue-eyed man he might form the wrong opinion and spread the word that a very rude girl was near their pack.

... It was the most absurd things she could think up, but hey, it was possible. Perhaps.

He asked her about the view. The Russian briefly glanced back at the ocean before shrugging indifferently at the male, her tail flicking into a different position. "It is not terrible," she answered simply, scooping up a handful of the soft sand and letting it fall in between her fingers. "I find that the ocean clears my mind, however. I did not have easy access to the sea back in Россия." She paused for a beat, then spoke up again. "Russia, I mean."

There was only so much that could be told about a person from a distance. While nearing the dark woman he became more aware of the beauty that was bestowed upon her. Her fur wasn’t black as it appeared from his first glance but instead a dark grey that covered most of her body. Elsewhere the tint faded into a lighter grey. This included her chest, belly, and lower. He didn’t let his eyes wander for long as he knew most found it disrespectful. Jaden was a sucker for beauty though he wouldn’t admit it. Hearing her voice and realizing she was Russian was surprising though. He didn’t speak Russian but recognized the language and accent from his time in his birth pack. They had used trade routes with Russians to gain valuable resources and knowledge. Because of his limited interaction with the foreigners he had a rather high opinion of them, believing Russians to all be civilized, intelligent, and somewhat sly. Whether that would hold up now remained to be seen but the male felt a little bit more comfortable with some idea of who he was dealing with.

She didn’t smell of Vinátta either. That and her somewhat agreeable response delighted him. He smiled warmly at her, The ocean is definitely more alluring without the dilapidated buildings lining a far shore. He couldn’t offer any comment on her home for he had never actually been to or even seen a map of Russia. Seeing that she didn’t mind talking to him, or rather that she wasn’t negative about it, he continued on his way toward her. He came up beside her while still trying to keep a friendly distance and not invade her personal space, I’ve known few of your people but those I did were all sailors. It might be a bit narrow minded, but it would seem to me that the sea wasn’t so hard to come by for a Russian. An innocent question to further gauge her desire for interaction.

The male drew nearer still, a friendly smile on his muzzle now. Vlad could tell he was more or less a pleasant person to be around, and was apparently continuing the conversation just to have one (but, of course, she had been the one to look at him first with expectant eyes, but it mattered not). Maybe her presence at the beach was convenient for him, and the interaction with someone outside of his pack was something he had the chance to enjoy. "да, this is true," she concurred, understanding where the blue-eyed man was coming from. Though the beaches back in Europe weren't top-notch by any means, they did have a slight advantage over this one simply because of its cleaner look. This beach the two were at now was surrounded by toppling buildings from the days of human and had devices and such from said humans strung about everywhere. If anything, though, it did have a certain aura to it, and the salty smell of the ocean was always inviting.

Vladislava folded her legs neatly and rested her hands in her lap, her eyes still glued onto his. She didn't mind him coming closer to her. Rather, she did find it reassuring; if she were to ever return here, at least she had one person to relate to. The man spoke again, and his words caused the Russian to turn back to the sea, a distant look in her eyes. "I lived in Moscow," she replied, not specifically bothered much by the male's assumption, "It is not close to oceans. I had to travel northwest before I came across a port." She decided to leave out the part that she flat-out deserted her family by leaving, though. She had merely just met him, and such information wasn't to give out freely, after all.

Sorry this is late. I've been pretty sick the last week. Next one wont be. Promise! =)

The gaze that stayed on him was strong and respectable. This woman was quite strange. In a way, she was sort of like a mystery that needed solving. He listened to her accent and enjoyed those green eyes but couldn’t help but wonder why they were here. Why had she left home? What had she been in her home? Had she been an assassin like… what was his name… he broke their away from her hold to look out on the ocean. This was something he was bad with. That Russian had been such an interesting fellow too with his curved swords. Jaden’s brow tightened just slightly with frustration before he gave up. It wasn’t worth an awkward silence to keep trying at a forgotten name.

A once again unoccupied mind turned to the beauty of a Russian woman. She reaffirmed that even before crossing the sea her trip had been lengthy. He wondered if her trip had taken as long as his. Little did he know that he had run the length of a continent. To him it had been a handful of months filled with discomfort and fear that his family would catch him. What has brought you so far from home? He didn’t mind having her here to speak with but he had needed a terrible reason to run so far.

(--) It's alright. ^~^ Hops you're feeling better now!

A silence fell in between the two, and Vladislava saw the Secui male look to the sea out of the corner of her eye. She slightly moved her head to where she could see him more clearly, and saw frustration dance across his face and brow. He was obviously thinking about something, she was sure of that, but what caused him to think so hard? Was it something she said? Perhaps he was also a foreigner to Nova Scotia and couldn't help but muse over his own trip to these lands. Or maybe he was thinking of what to say next. Whatever the case, she glanced back at the water, green eyes watching it with recollections of the past.

The Kakashnikov heiress could tell his eyes were back on her, and she turned to him, locking her green orbs with his blue ones. He asked her why she had left Russia, and she paused. Well, why she left her homeland was actually broken into several different reasons, all of which were lengthy and unnecessarily dull, and she assumed this man had places to be. He probably didn't want to hear her tale, and she wasn't really in the mood for telling it, anyway. But... He had asked her. Was she just to come off rude and reject his request? That was not polite in the slightest. Then again, though, she could always gently tell him she didn't like to talk about the matter, but would he persist anyways? Maybe she could tell him part of it. A short statement that would explain much of it. Yes, that sounded lovely.

A sigh escaped the she-wolf's dark lips as her muzzle dipped. "Family issues," she finally answered, her eyes briefly glancing down to the sand. Vlad slightly worried that her response had been too short, but perhaps it wasn't. Perhaps this male would drop it at that, or perhaps he wouldn't.

Thanks! I feel muchmuch better!

The name of a friend now completely forgotten Jaden watched the Russian curiously. Her eyes didn’t leave his for long. They kept his attention and interest and he was brought to wonder exactly what her assumptions of him were. Did she find him handsome? It was quite possible with how strongly she looked upon him. This could just be a trait of Russian women too. He knew none well enough to know whether or not this was true. More mysterious every moment and not willing, it seemed, to reveal a whole lot about herself. A number of females the Issum had met usually confided in him with quite a bit of trust even after only a short meeting. Perhaps it was something about him that spoke “trustworthy” to the opposite sex. He wasn’t sure but it was good because he himself had a weakness to their liking. Such showed in the case of Amy: a psychotic killer who had slipped right under his radar as someone redeemed and even sexy. A mistake he could still unknowingly commit regardless of the scolding he gave himself.

This woman, whom he realized he still had no name for, didn’t have the desire to tell him of her back story. It was a bit unfair for her to say “family issues” while he wondered if they were similar in background. But he would not press directly. Perhaps he could show a bit of trust by sharing something about himself to loosen her tongue. But first he did need a name. To expect such information from a stranger felt odd and wrong. I too left my birth home due to “family issues”, though I hope you didn’t suffer quite the same issues as I, he chuckled warmly though it came out a bit dry. One could only laugh lightly on thoughts of betrayal and murder. Forgive me. In my eagerness to speak with you I never properly introduced myself. I am Jaden Ohanzee of Sangi’lak. It’s a pleasure meet you, He dipped his head respectfully and hoped to get a foreign-sounding name for the woman in return.

(--) Argh, short. V_V I'm sorry about the length!

Vladislava heard a dry laugh escape the man's muzzle after he too stated that he had left his homelands because of family matters. He did add, though, that perhaps his reasons were worse than hers, and she didn't doubt that at all. In comparison to her disinterest in running a business she knew there were those that had to escape a far more sinister background, and she was not in a place to complain. Then again, she was more upset that she couldn't see her family without being ushered into a position she didn't want, and people on the other side of the spectrum were usually upset because of the mental, physical, and emotional trauma they suffered before finally leaving, but regardless of the situation, such feelings weren't shaken off easily. They could, however, be momentarily forgotten when the victim of said feelings was with another, much like how Vlad was speaking with this male, and she soon pushed away her thoughts of her family as she heard a name cling to her mind.

He introduced himself as Jaden Ohanzee of Sangi'lak, bowing his head politely. The Russian heiress smiled in return, nodding her head once as she turned her body to face him. "My name is Vladislava Kalashnikov," she replied, parroting his respectful dip of the muzzle, "It is very nice to meet you, Jaden." Her green eyes briefly glance at the water before locking back into the Secui's, and she decided to ask a more lighthearted question than his reasons for coming to these Nova Scotian lands. "Aside from the obvious collapsed buildings, it is a beautiful day, да?" She rose her gaze to the sky for a moment, then lowered her eyes back to Jaden's, her friendly beam still in place.

No worries Smile

Wounds hurt less over time. The scars they leave last much longer. Jaden liked to think he hadn’t been horridly scarred by what had happened in his family’s territory. His reoccurring nightmares where proof otherwise but other than that he had come to accept his history. His mind was only given a few seconds to linger on those memories before the Russian gave a very foreign sounding name. Vladislava Kalashnikov. damn, he thought to himself, how am I going to possibly be able to pronounce that? He took a moment to say it over in his mind but it helped little. The way her tongue bounced around the syllables and such just didn’t translate well on his dull feeling tongue.

Luckily, he was not left to cruelly butcher her name. He smiled at her in a pleasant way and she swept the conversation in a less personal direction. Part of him had thought she might go on to ask of his dark history. The way he had left it as a mystery for her may have swayed such a question into existence. But it would seem she had no interest or knew enough of hardship to not go asking about it. Jaden was left to wonder in that second of transition why he had been so mysterious in his words? His past was not something he necessarily enjoyed sharing, wish strangers especially. He noted this to himself and decided to think on it later before moving on.

A beautiful day. When was the last time someone had asked him such a simple question? He couldn’t recall but it was strangely refreshing. I suppose it is, he said and glanced up to the bright sky with a squint. The sun would soon begin to dim as it was sitting low on the horizon already. Nicer now that it isn’t quite so hot, he added. Then he smiled at her in a kind, slightly charming way. I hope I would not be keeping you from it. Do you have plans that need tending to before nightfall? A campsite to return to? She was a loner and some liked to camp out in a less animalistic fashion than others. Politely asking whether he would be wasting her time seemed appropriate.

His responce came soon after her question, which she was thankful for. Usually, back in Russia, such questions were considered time-passers—at least, they were by her family. Thus she hadn't been used to asking it as often as some did, as the question seemed rather morbid in a way to her, but really, it wouldn't matter if she asked Jaden, right? He was apparently a foreigner to these lands, much like herself. They also both seemed to be drawn toward the ocean, and they both thought it was a nice day. Not that this all really proved anything, but still, it was something solid enough to stand on while conversing with this male. He seemed to understand how it was to leave his homelands, so she could possibly relate better with him in this sense.

"I do agree," she concurred to his statement about the humidity, her eyes raising to the slowly setting sun. "I enjoy fall much better than summer. It is lukewarm—not too warm, though not too cool. Just the perfect weather, in my opinion." Vlad also liked the oranging of the trees autumn brought, but that seemed off the current topic. Besides, she absentmindedly thought that he might find it a bit strange that she liked weather in between cool and warm. Living in Russia and all, you didn't have much a choice to evade its brutal winters, he would likely view it as odd that she could actually experience warmer days.

Jaden gave her a nice smile—though it was a bit handsome, Vladislava had to admit—and asked about her plans for the upcoming evening. The Russian blinked at him before answering, thinking vaguely what she did have in mind for the rest of the day. "Нет, nothing, really. I have not a camp to return to, unfortunately," she told him, turning back to the ocean. "Even if I did, I do believe I would hold it off. I rather enjoy conversing with you." She smiled to herself before looking back at the Secui male, ears flickering with a soft cling from her earrings.

Now mine is short Sad sorry

Their conversation continued on with a lighter note now. Vladislava agreed with him on disliking the heat of summer and expressed her enjoyment of cooler fall air. One he too shared. With his thick fur, milder temperatures where always much more comfortable than heat or icy cold. Yes indeed. The changing trees are always so beautiful too, he added before the conversation continued.

It was fair to assume she was enjoying their conversation but hearing it finally convinced Jaden that shifting was finally necessary. Excuse me for a moment, he asked of her before shifting. Only a minute or two later he was sitting in the sand with her comfortably. He smiled at her a bit bashfully, Good conversation is hard to find. He looked into her pleasant green eyes for a moment. She was a very nice person and he was suddenly interested in knowing whether she needed a home or not. It would be very nice to have such a beautiful and kind woman in Sangi’lak. He stretched out his legs on the sand then folded them and looked to the Russian. You have no camp? Are you still traveling then? He didn’t ask exactly where she was going but if she had such plans then she just might share them with him anyway.

Ah, so he did share her opinion on the fiery trees. Of course, Vladi was sure that most couldn't could not adore their beauty, but to hear it verbally rather than just being led by assumptions was nice. "The trees are the best part, are they not?" she said conversationally, her green eyes shining. "They are very pretty. Autumn is such a lovely time of the year."

Jaden excused himself for a brief moment or two, and with a smile and a nod, the Russian allowed him time to shift. She directed her gaze to the glistening sea again as the male changed into his Optime form, and her eyes soon darted to his again as he spoke. "Mm. This is true," she answered, bobbing her head again in agreement. "And morbid conversations do not count. There are too many hallow exchanges of words, I would think." She paused for a moment, vaguely wondering if Jaden would think she was implying that their current talk was vacant, but by her grin, she knew he'd understand that she wasn't saying that at all. She did like speaking with this man, really, so it wasn't monotonous in the slightest.

"Not... exactly," she responded to his questions, not entirely sure how to word her current situation. Vladislava raised her gaze to the skies momentarily before looking back at the other Luperci, and continued. "I suppose the best way to explain what I am presently embarking upon is, is that I am rather traveling for pleasure than need. I am trying to see all I can see while I have the free time. I do not specifically need a camp, per se, but I have not a reason to oppose one, either." She blinked, running a hand through her hair. "I have been asking myself occasionally if joining a pack would be beneficial for me, however."

The remark made on morbid conversations warranted a glance from Jaden. He was fairly sure she was not speaking of their current exchange. She had, after all, admitted to enjoying their conversing. The grin he met was sufficient to instill what he already thought but more so, it was endearing. The Russian wasn’t just beautiful but also cute in her accent, green eyes, and agreeability too. Yes, yes indeed there are, He agreed with a warm, pleased smile.

The more he sat and spoke with Vladislava, the more he realized just how nice it was to do so. The thought that maybe she could stay in Sangi’lak had been short and without much actual hope but hearing that she was considering joining a pack, he couldn’t help but feel excited. Whether the Russian would make a good nomad was hard to say. He glanced down at the belt of blades she wore and decided she could be tested. It would be entertaining to see if she had more skill beyond beauty and personality. He deemed it inappropriate to test her now but definitely worth mentioning that she would be welcome in Sangi’lak. I would hope that you don’t plan on leaving the territory in your travels, but whether you would be interested in a long term home or not, you are welcome in Sangi’lak. I am alpha so I can give you permission to stay however long you like. He told her. His voice was void of pride so as not to sound like he intended to gloat about his position and instead only an honest offer. My pack members would do well to meet such a pleasant woman.

(--) Oh, hey! Happy birthday! *streamers and cake*

The black and white Luperci concurred on her words with a warm smile, which caused Vlad's own grin widen. Jaden was rather handsome, really, so to see such a beaming smile on him was pleasant. Sure, she had met numerous handsome folk in her day, but more than half of them were either stuck-up, rude, or overly-confident in themselves. Those factors turned her away from them, and an almost stereotypical view had formed in her mind about attractive men: looks can be deceiving. However, she knew by talking to him that Jaden wasn't like those men. He was polite, as well as just an overall nice guy to talk to. To find such a conversationist here was almost strange in her own mind.

Vladislava saw his ocean blue eyes dart down, and blinked. She thought nothing of it, though, as she looked over his person, but not overly so to cause alarm in the man. She let her eyes linger on his muscular chest momentarily before raising her gaze back to his orbs, her smile fading. A curious look had overtaken her face now as she watched him, listened to his words. Hmm... Staying in Sangi'lak? She hadn't thought much of actually staying long-term in a pack. Or, rather, in a pack with unfamiliar faces. Perhaps a pack with a friend of hers in it—leading it, even, as its Alpha, would make her more comfortable. "No, no, I do intend on staying in this general area," she assured him, her smile returning, "but I... I shall indeed consider your offer to stay in your pack. I am sure it is a wonderful place, given its Alpha." Her grin widened as she really just now realized his voice held no pitch of pride or arrogance whatsoever, as she would expect some would boast over holding such authority over a group of canines. Vlad felt her beam turn into what she guessed was a smirk at his last remark as she chuckled, and she nodded. "Да, I have been told I am a pleasure to speak with in the past," she told him, though her words weren't at all tainted with pride over this fact. She was merely informing him of it, not gloating to him, but by her tone of voice one could detect she wasn't bragging over it.

He was not ignorant to her analyzing of him. It was only fair. He realized he might have invited such a thing after eyeing the belt that sat rather low on her person. He was comfortable in his body, scars and all, so he did not hinder her chance to make of him what she wanted. Then she spoke and he was left with a grin he directed at her for her remark which he had found endearing. Had he stopped smiling this whole time they had been speaking? It was hard to say and that alone said something about her. They would have to speak again. If he were not to see this woman again in his life it would be a horrid shame.

We are only to the west of here, He looked up at the sky and realized how low the sun had fallen before pointing to the tallest mountain on the horizon, at the foot of that mountain, then he looked back to the emerald eyes meaningfully, even if you don’t choose to stay with us, stop by sometime. I wouldn’t mind sharing another simple conversation... But for now I should probably go. There is still plenty to do before nightfall. He said so but didn’t move to stand straight away. Can I expect to see you around here? Or are you headed south before your traveling is through?
