Mother Nature's Son
#1
The dog lied on the sand, looking up at the sky. The bright, midday sun was covered up partly by white, fluffy clouds. Slowly, the young male's eyes gently closed and he fell into a deep slumber. A dream began to form in his mind. The luperci's dream started out with him sitting inside the barn he had grown up around. The sun was shining through the holes in the old roof of the barn and there wasn't a cloud in the sky; his body instantly felt warmer. Edgar's mother came into the old, worn-down building with a basket of flowers and fruit from the nearby garden. She sat down in front of him and held out a flower for him. The spaniel took the flower and smelled it. It had a very pleasant, sweet scent to it. He looked at it and felt every one of it's soft pink petals, it was a daffodil. All of the sudden everything went black. The dream then continued, there was rain and lightning now and the daffadol he held had wilted. A deep red drop of blood soaked one of the flower's petals. Looking up, the boy saw his father knelt over the dead body of his mother. Her body was all torn up and bloody, the area began to literally turn into a lake of blood that then swallowed up Edgar's body; he could just barely breathe.

Zadkiel was back to roaming again. But it wasn't like such was entirely unusual for him. it was how he had spent the greater part of his life. He had been carted around by his mother only to be abandoned and have her return once more to cart the brood off somewhere else. This cycle had continued until Zadkiel had set out on his own. But even then he continued to bounce around from place to place. Even now he has yet to actually settle down. But he has remained in the area of 'Souls for the better part of his travels.

Zadkiel found himself stalking the coastline. Watching the fins that would break the surface of the water. It wasn't something that he hadn't seen before. In fact he knew the fins as belonging to large fish with sharp teeth. There was an appeal to hunting such a thing just because of the danger that it posed. Actually it was because of the fish that Zadkiel had taken to stalking along the shoreline anyways. But that quickly was placed on the back burner as he came across a dog stretched out along the beach.

Zadkiel eased his hands down his thighs in order to wrap them around the hilts of his knives and pulled them out from their place. He moved slowly and cautiously as he approached the canine on the beach, trying to sneak up on the other. Had the other already passed on? Zadkiel didn't know but it wasn't like he had a problem with that. One way or another the other would be dead and Zadkiel would have hot meat in his belly if he could get his way.

ooc: I'm assuming Zadkiel thought Edgar was dead and is trying to kill whoever he thought killed him, Edgar is just confused and thinks Zadkiel wants to kill him.

He quickly awoke, terrified by the nightmare he had just had. The canine turned around to see another luperci walking along the shoreline with knives in his hands, he wasn't sure if the man was coming toward him or not. Hands shaking, he scribbled words onto that page that read: Please don't kill me He held it up in front of himself so that the light-colored wolf could read it clearly. Edgar doubted that a silly little note could keep him from getting killed but he thought that it was at least worth a try. For some reason though, he knew with all his heart that he wouldn't be a dead man today. There was something about the approaching male that didn't seem to be very vicious, he looked as if he were trying to protect himself in a way. Could he be trying to take down someone else? Edgar took note of the knives he held, they looked much more dangerous than his. His knife was small and a bit rusty with blood on it. He hadn't wanted to take it because it was the very knife that his father had used to slaughter his mother; but he told himself that it just might be the only thing that kept him alive. If this really all that his life would be, then it would sure be disappointing.

Well Edagr is right. Zad thought Edgar might be dead and wants to make sure that is so. He's a cannibal so it sees it as a way to get a meal without any of the work for it.

The other canine didn't smell of rot just yet so Zadkiel assumed that the dog was fresh dead. That certainly worked for him. He could use the easy meal. And he was in luck to have found it before the scavengers had come to end up picking it over. Or he had though himself to be lucky but he had quickly come to find out just how wrong that assumption was when his free meal got up. So much for having an easy time of things. It looked like Zadkiel was going to have to get his hands dirty if he wanted to eat. He couldn't say that he was entirely opposed to it but he'd rather have less work to do. But could he really be blamed? Who wouldn't want to have their meal served to them if they could have it as so?

The words that were scribbled out on the paper had him pausing in his approach for a moment. It wasn't because he could read them but because of the opposite that he had stilled. The letters only looked like a bunch of odd lines to him and nothing more than that. They held no actual meaning to him. "Use your tongue. That is why you've got one." At least he was assuming that the other was trying to communicate something to him. If the other wanted to communicate then he would have to do so the proper way. Honestly it would be the only way that Zadkiel would be able to understand him as Zadkiel didn't know how to read or write. he had never bothered to learn how to become literate. He simply didn't see the use for such a trick.

Though there was one thing that he could tell about the situation. The other male was scared. It was an emotion that he knew all too well. it was an emotion that he evoked in others all too often. And of course it thrilled him. He had yet to do anything but to attempt to get close to the dog as of yet. Of course it made Zadkiel feel quite proud of himself. He figured that this one would be easy to break. He figured that he would have this male begging to end it all quickly after Zadkiel got started. It might even prove to be a record. Such a thought had his tail wagging in excitement behind him. He was eager to get started just to see how quickly the torture would be ended by the dog begging to be killed.

ooc: Will Zadkiel attack him? It's okay with me if he does

Looking into the male's dark eyes, Edgar saw what he thought was disappointment in them. Had he expected him to be someone else? Was he looking for a meal? The boy watched as the wolf came closer to him - squinting his eyes at the small message he wrote. The dog felt ashamed that he had acted so cowardly, but why would he want to put up a fight with a stranger he had just met? The man appeared to be confused with the words on the page; Edgar figured that he couldn't read very well. The Brittany set his notepad down on the sand, wondering how he would tell him he couldn't hear whatever he was saying at the moment. That was another thing that would make it more difficult for the two to communicate; the dog couldn't read lips. The canine pulled at his floppy ears, pointing at them and shaking his head. He hoped this would work, if it didn't it would lower his chances of survival. Adding on to what he had done, Edgar drew little music notes on the page and drew a big X over them all; writing beneath the image "deaf". Now, he looked at least a bit more relaxed. The fear of the wolf still lingered in him.

Not unless you want it to happen. I would never do something like that without permission. I always feel that any fights and injuries should be discussed beforehand so that both parties are on the same page.

Ah yes, a meal had been exactly what he had been expecting. He had really thought that he could get away with something that he actually wouldn't have to work for. But clearly he wasn't going to be allowed such liberties. He wasn't about to be allowed to walk away with a free meal that he didn't have to work for. No, he was going to be forced to earn something to fill his belly with. It really was disappointing but he could deal with it still.

The dog was miming something and then was writing again but Zadkiel still wasn't certain just what was going on. He could understand nothing that was written at all. None of it made any sort of impression on him. No, it just served to irritate him instead. "Are you stupid or something?" Not exactly the most pleasant of words but whoever said that Zadkiel was a pleasant fellow? Sure, there were those that thought that. That was simply because he had to keep up appearances though. He couldn't completely tarnish his name. Besides, those who knew of his viciousness usually ended up in his belly.

He continued on with his slow approach of the other. "Run puppy, run." A grin spread over his lips as he lifted up the knife that he had in his hand and brought it up so that he could lick slowly and lovingly at it. Even if the male couldn't understand what he had said he should at least be able to understand that much. He should be able to understand that hungry glint in Zadkiel's eye. The male wanted fresh meat to put in his belly and Edgar happened to be the only thing around.
