Leaving home had seemed like such a good idea at the time. Everyone had turned against her, JAce, Rin, Skye… even Gina had been scarce the past few days and she hadn’t seen Dora or Papa in weeks! Upset and irrational her mind had stewed in anger until eventually leaving had seemed like the only good option.

Now she wanted to be back there more than anything. Keldava had never seen nor heard of anything like a hurricane before so she had no idea what was going on, except that the sky itself seemed to be tearing itself apart and descending down to earth to destroy her. Keldava had been fleeing from the storm in a straight line the past few hours in a futile attempt to outrun the winds. It hadn’t worked and slowly what had started as simply a storm was shaking trees like dolls and threatening to knock her off her feet.

Scared and confused Keldava kept doing her best to move forwards, crouched low and clasping Devini against her chest tightly. She was hampered by being forced into staying in Optime form but Devini was too light to deal with the weather herself, and leaving the kitten behind was unthinkable to Keldava.

A groan had Keldava looking up just in time to see a chunk of rock from the surrounding buildings falling towards her. Keldava screamed in terror and flung herself to the side, hitting the human path hard and scraping the skin off her elbow. As though that one chunk had been a cue the sky promptly exploded, showing her with a sudden, torrential rain which was accompanied by more bits of rock and metal falling from the abused buildings. Keldava tried to run but something hard and sharp, but thankfully not too heavy, hit her hard in the shoulder, cutting a gash and sending her spinning to the ground hard. Whimpering Keldava stayed on the ground and curled up in a ball around Devini, wishing that she was somewhere else.

Element remembered the snowstorm and remembered it well, and supposed this hurricane was not too different. It was, however - he sat in the center of the library, ears flattened and eyes slitted against the wind that flowed through the building, bringing wet water with it as well. He had protected his favorite books as much as a cat could, hiding them underneath a desk where they would be safe from the damp rain; and he knew that the winds were much worse out in the open, so he stayed, curled underneath the desk, protecting his books from further harm. Maybe he would read them later.

Soon, however, his large, cupped ears caught another sound on the wind - not a howl of rain, not a pelting of sleet, but a yowl of pain, and the panicked meows of a small kitten. He thought he knew who they were - however, all canines sounded the same to him, really, so he could not be sure. Cautiously, carefully, he crept along the wall of the library, poking his nose out of the entrance to see who had been caught in the storm.

His suspicions had been right - Keldava, curled around something that looked like the small kitten. "Keldava!" he yowled, the caterwaul sounding like he was in pain. "Keldava, in here! Come here!"

Keldava lay there, not daring to move except for an unavoidable flinch when a piece of rubble hit the fresh wound on her shoulder. The faint scent of blood peeking through the tumult of sense-dampening water hinted that the wound was bad but even just uncurling her head a bit to look was something that Keldava didn’t dare to do. Just when she was sure that she was going to die here a voice rose above the howl of the wind, an odd voice that Keldava remembered.

Keldava cracked one eye open and scanned around, eventually managing to pick out Element by the almost-glow of his eyes. She couldn’t make out what he was saying but he seemed to be calling her over. Keldava hesitated a moment more until a melon sized piece of metal his the ground a few inches away from her muzzle, cracking the pavement and sending Keldava sprinting away with a yelp.

Keldava made it into the building that Element had been standing in and then collapsed to the ground, curling up into a half ball and shaking with fear, one hand groping around behind her shoulder and returning sticky with blood. Devini wailed insistently at the tight grip Keldava had on her and the started, loosening her arms guiltily.

”What’s going on!?” Keldava asked Element, her voice distorted by fear and panic.
