bright against the dim light

Rizu had slept the whole night restless in the caverns of her new home, as she had always slept since leaving her birth clan. She wasn't exactly distrusting of the coyotes and hybrids that made up Inferni, but she had been hard put to sleep ever since her younger sister had woken her up that fateful day. Rizuka refused to even think about it as she rubbed the sleep from her hazel eyes, which seemed to have taken on a cloudy blue, and stood to stretch out her cramped limbs.

She had fallen in and out of sleep well into the afternoon, and now decided it would be the best time to wander Inferni to get used to these new lands. Her meeting with Anselm had been a pleasant enough one, giving her hope that she would meet many like him. Others who wouldn't beat around the bush and just get straight to the point. Breathing in the fresh afternoon air as she emerged from one of the many cave entrances, and glancing up at the cloudy sky that seemed to promise rain, Rizuka set off at a leisurely pace towards the shoreline she had spotted the day before.

The red bead that she had collected off the forest floor that had once belonged to her now scattered and abandoned bracelet was now set neatly in a thin braid that framed her face, her dreadlocks pushed neatly back away from her face so she could easily see. Today she hoped to find some water to bathe in, and perhaps wash her clothes. Even if it might rain she felt that it would be best to clean the mud that had collected on her lower legs the past few days, and the other grime she had collected during the days of her travels.

SOMEWHERE THERE'S A CRACK IN THE SIDEWALK
BIGGER THAN THE SHADOW OF DEATH IN THIS TOWN

She dove beneath the water, really enjoying swimming more than she had expected. She knew her one stroke, and had begun to improve on it since she had seen Anselm in the bay. Though she had only swum twice since then, she could feel that her stroke was getting stronger. This was her first full fledged day as a member of Inferni, but so far not a whole lot seemed different. Of course there was the notion that she was part of a group, but she had spent the night alone – same as the past few months. What she did hope, however, is that she would come to meet the other members that made up this clan. She didn’t know of any names, besides Gabriel, but she figured he was busy (considering he was the leader).

She broke the surface and flung her head backwards, flinging the lengths of her hair up out of the water and arching over her face like a rainbow. An arch of water splashed outward, twinkling as the sunlight bounced of the droplets. She peered around, barely noticing as the waves sloshed at her torso. What she did notice, however, was a body moving along further up shore. It surely didn’t look like Anselm, and Ryan grinned with the possibility of meeting another Inferni coyote.

It was the distant splash of water that finally caught Rizuka's attention and brought her to its source. Her tail swayed and she adopted a smile at the thought that she could finally get clean and relax. Even if the water ended up bone chillingly cold she planned on enduring it. Anything to wake her, and freshen her up would be a blessing. What Rizuka had not anticipated though was that the splash might have been caused by another werewolf. She had assumed it was just one of the many wild animals that still wandered her lands, the water and rain washing away most of the scents in the area before they could even reach the young female.

Slowing to not cause alarm Rizu paused at the edge of the water, crouching down to splash her face as she looked over the other female. She was younger, that was for sure, with a coat of mixed browns and a touch of tan. Finally Rizuka adopted back the smile she had lost when she had noticed the other Inferni member, and sat to stretch her legs into the water. "Hello there."
