He didn’t make it far that was sure. It was able to go about a week and 3 days away from here, then he got sick…and wanted to be in his home lands...Even if he felt like he didn’t fit in any where any more. The male turned around and came back, he had to be with Deuce, no matter how mad she was with him, and she was his kryptonite, he knew that he was going to hear it from her once he got back into the pack, if she would let him. The black male was more than aware that the leader of the pack was not some one that he didn’t see eye to eye with in the whole relationship of friend’s topic, nor did each of them have much respect for each other. There was fear that ran though is body that she would turn him away and Lucifer would have to grovel to Deuce to get into the pack, knowing full well it was the backdoor way, and sly way.

He stood on the borders looking around, he was foolish to have left, his youth still showed the way of his flaw. He was running to run to find his father when things were getting hard for him. The male could not stand there and just let life happen, after what happened with Naniko, he was still not willing to look at her, he did have feelings for her, but it wasn’t the feelings that bothered him, or scared him. Deuce scared him, he loved her, more than life it-self, but she knew too much about him. The male moved into the lands with a heavy sigh fearing what Deuce was going to do to him, seeing him standing there. There he stood broken hearted.

Iskata hadn't been outside the lands in quite some time, of course now she didn't have a reason to leave the lands and she would be quite busy soon enough to not have to think about anything outside the small plot of land she'd claimed as her own personal space. She smiled at the idea of the lands not being so personal in the near future as she shook her head and sighed. Her fingers traced across her belly as she padded slowly down the red dirt road towards the edge of their lands. She was out past Deuce's cottage and she knew if she wasn't careful she'd be getting a mouthful from the woman for being so out and about at this stage in her pregnancy. She chuckled softly at the idea of Deuce lecturing her again as she sighed, her mind wandering off to stranger thoughts than that.

The scent of another caught her attention as she had been in the mists of thinking of her grandchildren that had just appeared on the borders of the lands trailing behind DaVinci. She'd been more than surprised to find that DaVinci had young of his own, but watching the awkwardness that emerged as he tried to do what was right for the youth was more than enough to make a sad smile appear on her maw. The scent that invaded her thoughts quickly had made the smile disappear as she groaned and turned herself away from her peaceful walk and made herway towards the owner of that scent she'd known anywhere.

IT didn't take her too awfully long to find the male perched all alone on the edge of Phoenix Valley as though he was waiting for someone. She narrowed her eyes slightly at the male and grunted slightly as she received a kick from the unborn child that clearly didn't like the emotions she was displaying. Grumbling to the one nestled inside her she turned her attentions back to Lucifer as she asked. "Well, what brings you crawling to these lands." This almost seemed like a reverse of the last time she'd met the cocky brat.. and she could enjoy that very much if it came down to it.

Oh it killed him not being able to just say want he wanted; there she stood, with a rather sick happy tone dripping with this in her voice. The black male couched as he lowered his head to her, he knew that at the border he needed to show respect. The black male raised his head back up looking at her, with a smile, oh how badly he wanted to just push that ball along and start slewing out the insults to her, but now wasn’t the time. He was here because of Deuce, and not her. He coughed looking at her bulging stomach lowering his body below her, oh how badly did he want to slew out insults and keep up with the games they always had. He bit his lip pushing the smart comments back, oh god did it kill him. He sighed and took a deep breath, then out came her answer.”Joining” He kept it short and sweet, he didn’t need to him him-self get into trouble. He was going to do it some time or another but now…he knew as badly as he wanted to play stupid, now wasn’t the time. Deuce need him to be a man, and not a child, she didn’t have time in her life for her mate to act like a child. His rolled his ears against his head, pulling his tail between his legs. Not full submission…yet.

She had expected the comments and had expected the taunting remarks, but they never came. She knew better, she knew that Deuce was what he wanted, she'd caught his scent on the lands before and she had seem the happy dazed look on the female after the male had been long gone. She felt like spatting at his feet when he sat there with that pitiful look on his face as he gave her the answer for his presence before her. A short barking bit of laughter exploded from the female before she could help it. She narrowed her eyes and asked sarcastically. "What would our pack need with such a hypocrite like you Lucifer.." She shook her head in disgust as she continued. "What would you have to offer us that wouldn't bring trouble to our lands, like every other pack who's taken you in.." Her words were made to hurt the male. She knew his past, right up to the things he'd done as a child.

She'd been friends with those he'd hurt and those who'd fallen victim to his hapless crimes, and now here he was begging at their door for another chance, not a second chance, not a third chance.. he was far beyond counting how many chances he'd had. There was nothing left for him but a last chance. The Matriarch knew that behind his stupid foolish antics, selfish wants and childish games that there had to be something there that could be cleaned up and shaped into something worthy of a pack.. she knew the other packs in the pasts had seen glimpses of just that.. but he'd always failed in the end. She wasn't for certain if she was ready to take such a challenge into their packlands.. but she knew that if she turned him away that Deuce would pull the same trick she'd pulled on the Shaman not to long ago and come trailing behind her to let him into their family and into her heart and soul.

She just stood there impatiently waiting for some well worded answer rehearsed for just this moment.

Iskata is big and mean and mean to Lucifer

indentHer words stung him, deeper and harder than the knife that Deuce had stabbed him with. Sharper, then any bee stuck in his tender paw pads. He had his body just about all the submission that he had ever showed in his lift then to anyone other than Phasma. After that he had never had to tuck his tail and show submission, Deuce had never demanded he showed it….well…he was always a higher rank then she was, but there had been times when he gave her the pitiful look and ask for her forgiveness. The male dared not to look to the leader of these lands, he knew she could be quite curl, and her words proved just that. He wasn’t stupid, foolish maybe, stupid no. He nodded his head, agreeing with her not trying to fight with her, he had to make I clear to Deuce he wanted to be with her, he wanted to be different. He wasn’t going to say he was a changed being, because…he wasn’t. He wanted to be though.

indentThen there her question came, he could tell her how he was the leader of the pack, and how he was nearly a leader of Jaded Shadows, till the fire happened. He was there when Shadow was killed, and Deuce miscarried. He was there to take care of her, and once she started to get to round to care for her-self, the black male took care of her. But really none of that mattered. Squishing his eyes shut he lowered his head and body further, bring in tail to lay on his stomach. ”Nothing.” She was a wizard with her words.

ooc- of course! It's the Sion-Summer relationship reincarnated into these two! BTW.. I'm demanding Lin brings Jeffers in if it's ok with you.. so Iskata can give Lucifer a little bit more punishment. We know he'll take it.. since he has the hots for Iskata. Wink 482

Nothing. That was what it amounted it. The male could have found the words to defend himself and atleast explain the errors of his ways but all it came down to was pure and simply nothing. Her sun shot sky blue eyes narrowed to pure slits as she shook her head in disgust at the male who lay with his belly in the dust and his whole being poised in submission as he waited her verdict. The Matriarch who was normally kind and fair held a grudge against the male but even more she held truth above his head. She snarled as she spat the word back at him. "Nothing! Nothing is all you have to say for yourself?" She growled, feeling her heckles raise as she hissed. "A chance to prove yourself and you offer me nothing!" The woman was furious and yet she was venting her anger on just the one who deserved it. She knew time and time again the male would test her limits if he was allowed access to the pack and yet she knew that one way or another he'd come crawling like the dog he was into their lands and be accepted. She'd atleast have her justice while he stood before her.

Her ears flattened against her skull as she watched him. The male who'd had so much fire in his eyes and swagger in his step was lower than the lowest at the moment. She knew exactly where she'd place him in their little family and if he behaved himself and was a good little boy then maybe oneday he'd earn himself a place in her eyes and their pack. She lifted her head high as she asked the last series of questions, the personal ones that had just as much right to be public as well.. seeing how she'd seem in the past what his little affairs brought to the table for others she knew and loved. "And what of her? Shall you woe her with your slick ways and devilish words.." She bared her fangs once mor ein disgust as she asked softly. "While all the time you play your little games, teases and taunts on the side.." Looking out towards the home of Deuce as she spoke the woman threw down before him the bare facts. "Shameful. Your deeds. You would bring trouble to our doorstep without a care just to turn a trick or two..." She barked out another bit of laughter as she shook her head.

She almost wanted to walk away and leave him there before her with all his pride and glory spilled into nothing. She wanted him to know how deep she could cut him, and that she would cut him with every turn. She sat there quietly judging him but waiting just the same for the boy to defend himself, giving him one more chance.

escape is never the safest path

Sleep had long captured he; dozing had become something of a hobby when he wasn't needed for whatever reason, being as it was that sleeping was one of very few tasks he was able to accomplish at the present time, until his health was restored. Fortunately, though, the speed and agility he had once been infamous for was beginning to return to him, though now hindered by the limp of a gimpy leg. He was adapting to the handicap although months had passed: the male had figured out resourceful ways in combat despite the leg before, but now that strength was returning to his muscles with the nutrients of food and fat on his bones, those tactics had become... aged. He had the strength to maneuver more cleverly now, and though he kept his training to a secret and personal level aside from the rest of the pack (who didn't need to see him falling on his face in his efforts), slowly but surely, the old Jefferson was rising back up.

But that wasn't all. He was sifting through the ranks of the pack he'd never thought he'd even end up him. The hybrid had learned trustworthy allies and packmates and seen those who may have been potential enemies--and with the slow spark of his memories a week or so before, his luck was only gaining. Of course, instead, Jefferson had been lazily sleeping off under a tree on the packlands as always, unintentionally shirking his duties in greeting the newcomer at the border--which he was immediately alerted to, in listening to the shrill scoldings of the matriarch from perplexingly near quarters, as the cream-colored femme had unknowingly stirred him from his sleep with such a tone. He listened briefly before hastily climbing to his feet and limping until the two fell into his one-eyed gaze, at which point he shamelessly broke their conversation by deliberately standing between the two. His green eye fell sharply on the matriarch, whom he respected to no end but had made well aware that he restrained nothing of his thoughts. "Cool it," he said quietly, the habitual scowl forming. "What happened to the pity that fell on the wounded gimp on your borders before?" A pause. His eye thinned, glancing briefly at the shameful-looking sap she was screaming at, before his gaze returned to his leader. "Surely you can speak levelly to an 'unworthy' creature standing on your borders. I've seen it before." His eye flashed.

Lucifer was at a lost to say to her, he felt like the child that had just ripped out all the pages of his caregiver’s best book, after being told time and time again not to touch it, or even go near it. The black male’s chest hovered over the ground, not laying down he didn’t want to give her any more reason to yell at him, then what he was already doing. His legs shook, he had to make it in, for Deuce’s sake. The black male dared not to take his eyes off the ground, not even to look at her paws, the more she yelled the more his ears folded back, and his head moved down, he wanted to just to get it over with, and see if she was going to let him into the pack or not.
He shook his head, “No…if she wants me back as a mate I’m here, I want to be that mate she wanted me to be. Before I left to find…” His mouth shut, he didn’t want to give her a reason to tell him he’s failed once again and laugh at him, and he just knew he couldn’t live without Deuce in his life.
The tan male came, and seemed to have been a bit of a savor for Lucifer’s sake, but he wasn’t going to move higher then what he was, he knew how quickly her mood could flop from one side to the other.

Iskata hadn't expected Jefferson to show up out of nowhere, and when he slide between her and the ebony male she bared her fangs in disgust at her friend before dropping away and just glowering at Lucifer. Her sapphire orbs turned to Jefferson as she spoke sharply, not towards the beraggled male but because of the worthless soul behind him. "Give him enough time and you'll begin to understand it all Jefferson.." She sighed, her frustration at having ran into Lucifer today was causing her too much of an emotional overload in the state she was in and it probably was best that Jefferson had intervened.

The words that the snivelling coward did grant her only caused her to sneer slightly as she ignored him and spoke once more to Jefferson. " You weren't unworthy, this one has thrown away chance after chance of proving himself, throwing others to the elements just to save his own skin, never taking responsiblity for his actions, I'm not certain if I even have the time or energy to put forth the effort needed." Her eyes had trailed back to the beast that lay in submission in the dirt. She wanted to scrap scraps of leaves and grass over his form to show him just what she thought of him but her emotions were beinging to digress with Jefferson as the knight in shining armor for the mere peasant.

Gritting her teeth she glared down at Lucifer as she finally gave in. She wasn't going to get anywhere with Jefferson present so she gave her answer as was needed. "Fine, you want to woe Deuce, you can do so as the Sulien of the pack. Prove yourself to me and perhaps you'll be able to be considered more." She turned her eyes towards Jefferson, a slight dark glitter of amusement in her eyes as she decided not to let him off so kindly either, though she remembered that she had given him permission to speak to her as he saw fit. "You on the other hand can have the duties of attempting to shape him into something more than a selfish snivelling coward. I suggest you start by explaining to him some of your views on celibacy.." She shook her head and looked away from the male as she waited for the ebony male to decide if he really wanted this life he was signing his soul away to.

escape is never the safest path

Perhaps he had been ignorant, perhaps not, but the sight of Iskata in such a mood was a somewhat frustrating one on Jefferson's behalf; the cream-colored femme was normally so calm and transitory. Never had he seen her lash out in such a way, let alone to a complete stranger. Well, more specifically, a stranger to him. As Iskata talked, his eye wandered back down to the black-colored mass as he laid so pathetically on the ground, and Jefferson's mind wandered as his matriarch rambled on and on: it was funny, how ironically similar the situation was. When it was he collapsed on the ground not looking for pity or acceptance, Iskata had taken him in without a second thought after Deuce had bitterly turned him away. Yet, this black wolf laid as pathetically as the hybrid once had, and pity had found him through the wrong creature. Iskata was not at all taking him kindly--it took a bite of the tongue to keep Jefferson from admitting how much she reminded him of Deuce at that very second. But it wasn't until the conversation shifted back into his direction that Jefferson caught up with what had been said.

"What?!" His head swung back to Iskata, mouth hanging agape and eye wide open. Befuddled, the creature stepped out of the way at that point, as if allowing Iskata her rage if it meant sparing him even more duties he had to attend to. "You want me to fix this joker? Of all people, you're asking someone like me to do that?" It was ridiculous! Iskata couldn't have needed a second Jefferson running around Phoenix Valley, and Jefferson himself didn't need a clone biting at his heels. A long, drawn-out sign escaped his lungs as his eye turned skyward in defeat. "I don't need a goddamn sidekick and I don't know anything about this shadow." He was complaining about it, but by his body language, it was obvious that he was well aware he had no say in the matter. The scowl returned, and his green eye flashed a scornful, I-don't-pity-you-anymore look at Lucifer on the ground. "If you want to be in this pack and you want to fit in, you'd better get yourself off the ground. You're going to work if you're under my supervision, whoever the hell you are."
