Location: Quartz Shoreline; Watcher's Rest. Thanks Alli. ♥ We'll start in CD and end up here. Slight PP just to say they are walking together.

The break in the rain seemed godsent to the wolfess. She shivered lightly beneath her thin coat. She looked mildly ridiculous. Her winter coat had finally begun to grow in, but only in certain places. She had fluffy patches growing around her neck and flanks while the rest of her coat was still thin in most places. She had shuddered earlier in the morning when she had caught sight of herself in a mirror in the bathroom. Now in her Optime form, she paced across the lush green lands of Crimson Dreams, shaking herself slightly to loosen the moisture from her coat.

Wandering about in the rain probably wasn't the best idea for the thin wolfess. She inhaled, sniffling as she shook her coat out. She had caught the beginnings of a cold and she sneezed constantly, which really annoyed her more than anything else. But the mansion seemed so cramped in the morning when she had woken from a restless sleep. She had tossed and turned so much that she had fallen on the floor on a few occasions.

She felt like such an idiot because of her emotional outburst a few days ago. Some time had passed and she had been able to swallow her emotions and see clearly. She was embarrassed and angry with herself. When she had first met Anu, she had left her with a horrible impression. The wolfess had been nothing but kind and open, but Geneva had been bone-headed and gone on the strangest tantrum.

Her lime green eyes brightened when she spotted the wolfess in her thoughts in the distance, although she was somewhat apprehensive. Resolutely, she approached her packmate, and apologetic smile on her face, masking her uncertainty. "Hey Anu," she said genially, pausing a few feet before her and shifting rather shyly. "I just wanted to aplogize. For the other day, I mean. I'm not usually like that..." She frowned slightly and shook her head. "Anyway, I was wondering if we could go to that trip to the Lighthouse."

k!

Sunshine had become a rare commodity that past few weeks. It was if the round orb was teasing them, giving just a little and then stealing all its warmth away from them in a moment. Anu was sure that her god would produce the light needed for her garden to grow the spring months, but she prayed that he would give her just enough warmth to rid her body of winter’s chill.

The green thumbed wolfess was forever content with fixing the yard, tending to Haven’s pumpkin patch or just playing in the soil. Even with the dreary weather she found joy in the tasks. Outside the mansion had begun to look more landscaped the longer she resided with in the Crimson Dreams boarders. There was much to do before the real winter hit, and she spent many of her mornings tending to the long list.

Interruption came, in the form of her friend. The gray female approached her with a weary posture, one that was far from necessary for the fey. It had been odd that when she ran off during their first meeting, but Anu had brought up fresh wounds and sensitive subjects. It was only natural for her to have been upset. She gave an understanding smile and decided they should forget it ever happened, for now at least.

Lets go! Brushing her hands against her legs she wiped most of the dirt away. It would be nice to do something different for a change, and the to-do list could wait. I think you’ll like it. What Geneva needed was a distraction, and Anu was very whiling to give it.

Geneva looked over the orderly rows of soil. Soon, frost would lay over them, then ice and snow. She was impressed by the structure, the orderliness. It appealed to her nature. She found organization very soothing. There wasn't anything complicated about order, patterns, things she found easy to think about and understand. Perhaps that was why she found Anu's presence so soothing. Although she had met her only briefly, she found the blue-eyed wolfess to be so utterly undemanding. Her personality was so apparent. There didn't seem to be any sort of secret about her, nothing she had to dissect just to see how kind she was.

"Oh, no," Geneva said as Anu rose from her work. "If you're busy, I don't want to take you away from your work. It looks so nice." But the smile on the wolfess' face disarmed her, made her forget how awkward she felt. She even managed to flash a watered down smile. Before she knew it, their feet carried them away from the familiar comfort of the Crimson Dreams borders.

Geneva followed closely behind Anu, and although very few words passed between the pair, she relaxed in inches. It was so easy to be around her. It reminded her of times she had spent with....but she filed those memories away from another time. She wanted to stay positive. She blinked as the sun broke through the cloud cover for a glimpse. She was blinded for a moment, blinding lime green eyes until they refocused on the new landscape before her. She breathed in awe. "W-wow."

sorry for the wait!

It was easy traveling, but a long walk. Their conversations were brief, usually commenting on the landscape or of the weather. Traveling inland was easier then the coast, with its crevasses and the beach’s uneven dunes. They passed faint hints of Phoenix Valley, but Anu ignored her old pack lands, not mentioning that she was familiar with the area.

It appeared in the distance, against the blue of the ocean and the setting sun. The tall structure was the deacon for the two females, waiting for them to explore it. Blue eyes looked up, then back to her friend. Her face was something Anu took in, making her smile. She knew that Geneva would like it. The waves crashed against the beach and rocks, the sound echoing around them.

I guess the top was once a bright light. Anu pointed out as the grew closer and closer. It told ships they were close to the shore. Anu had no idea how much Geneva knew about the sea, but she was eager to share her limited knowledge.

I suck. I am sorry! But I am sooo ready to get back on track!

Geneva smiled into Anu's blue eyes, a curious warmth spreading through her when Anu looked at her. She thought to question it, but when she looked into those kind blue eyes again, she forgot that that little inkling of a thought had even troubled her in the first place. She fought to divide her attention between her beautiful friend and the startling new landscape. Both were equally breathtaking.

However, the novelty of the crashing waves and of the tall sea-brined structure before them eventually won out. Lime green eyes were wide set with wonder. Her mouth hung open slightly, her breath coming out slowly as she mouthed the word "wow." She had never in all her seasons seen anything like this before.

She crept closer to the lighthouse, trying to imagine it as Anu described it. But her mind was far too bus taking in all these new sights and sounds to make a clear picture for her. After wandering toward it quietly, investigating, she turned back to Anu. She felt shy for some reason - but not the typical shyness she had felt before. There was a knot inside her belly that she couldn't quite understand. "Do you - would you like to take a look inside with me?" she stammered.

I think im ready too!!! Which is really exciting!!!

New places had different effects on different individuals. Home didn’t even always have the same feeling. There was the type of home you felt when young and innocent, but there was also a different type of essence felt when returning from a long trip. The lighthouse, to Anu, gave off an aura of exploration. History was built in each stone, and mystery radiated from the foundation.

Anu grabbed her wrist softly, giving just enough pressure to show her excitement of the adventure. We didn’t come all this way just to look at the outside, lets go. Her voice was light and showed her eagerness. Anu wouldn’t notice the change in her friend, or the nervousness that she may feel. Instead she looked to the heavy door that would take both of the females to open.

Her heart pounded so fast when Anu took ahold of her wrist. Her head spun at the contact. She knew that the pulse under Anu's grip had quickened and she halfway hoped that her friend would notice. Good God, what was wrong with her? Everything about this situation screamed hands off! But part of her - a selfish part of her didn't want to. She had never really been one to act on impulse before, preferring to think through all her actions and their potential consequences. But caution be damned, as long as she could be close to the blue-eyed wolfess, she'd continue on whatever course this situation led her to.

Geneva swallowed nervously, pulling her wrist so she could free herself of Anu. But she was acutely aware of the way her fingers trailed down her friend's wrist, coming to rest lightly on her palm just for a fleeting moment - she didn't want to be too obvious! Why the secrecy? Oh, she knew this was wrong all right. Her gut screamed it at her. She tried to find enough of herself to care and couldn't.

She took the initiative for the first time since they had started their tripping, walking up to the heavy door. She ran her fingers down the rough wood softly to keep herself from reaching for Anu's hand. Her fingers curled at the thought, so that her hands were lightly rolled fists on the door. She braced herself and began to push at the door, as eager to see what was inside as she was for Anu to take those steps to be next to her again.

Maybe there was something different about Geneva, but Anu still had a lot to learn about her and took everything in stride. Their contact had been quick and a shuffle of motions that Anu could easily ignore. She didn’t feel anything that she thought was to intense, nothing that changed her heart rate or made her stomach tighten. But it was nice, to have her friend with her. It was just nice to have a new friend that she meshed so well with.

Geneva stayed quite, and helped her push the grand door open. A draft swept over them and Anu sneezed as the dirt hit her nose. Rubbing her sniffer, she blinked against the darkness, letting her eyes adjust to the gloom. The hard rock that formed the walls had little detail, but it was the stair case that called her forward. You wana see a view? Knowing better then to take her hand again Anu took to the steps and only motions for her to follow.

Geneva felt it like a punch to her gut when Anu flitted past her without taking her hand again. What had she done to deter her? But she stopped that train of thought. It is for the better! her mind shrieked at her, the logical, sane part that wasn't impulsive. Are you prepared for the consequences of your actions - which are pretty stupid, by the way! She mumbled something under her breath - something that sounded an awful lot like "shut up," before following Anu up the stairs.

The stairs were a spiral, going round and round, higher and higher. The effect was dizzying. But Geneva wanted to abandon the strange mood that had overtaken her. She ran past Anu, grinning as she turned her head to look at her. "Beat you there," she said softly in challenge before taking off up the stairs. Perhaps if she tried to act a bit more light-hearted, this intensity would die away.

-whispers- I really like then together!!

The tower was tall, but Anu didn’t think that there would be this many steps. The spiraling case took them higher and higher. It wasn’t until Geneva made it into a game that it got interesting. Not one to be left behind she raced after her, trailing not far behind as they made their way to the top room. Getting to the last stair Anu was out of breath and leaned against the wall hoping to catch it. Your fast. Stating the obvious was something she was just comfortable doing.

Stepping away from her prop she walked out into the dark room that would lead them to the lantern room. It was filled with dusty objects that had once made little difference to the female. Yellowed papers lay on the table that sat against the wall, a broken chair hid beneath its legs and a copper lantern with shattered glass lay in pieces on the floor. The small but warm room held the doorway that they sought. The place looked and smelled like it had been untouched for years. Well, look like they left in a rush. She walked over to the things that sat along the desk, inspecting some of the odd shaped articles.

Me too! :]

Geneva grinned, a little breathless herself when they finally reached the top of the stairs. She hadn't expected there to be so many stairs, but the race had been so much fun, she didn't regret it. "Well, I won't be winning any weight lifting contests any time soon, so I have to make up for it," she said lightly. But on the inside she had lit up like a church. She didn't know if it was because she took what Anu had said as a compliment or if it was just being in Anu's presence. The woman had such a profoundly positive presence. It seemed impossible not to be upbeat around her. She liked that.

She walked into the room after Anu, content to follow where she led. Lime green eyes washed over objects covered in dust of an era long dead. But suddenly she lit up again. Despite the unfamiliar surroundings, she was in her element. She had grown up in a human city and she was quite familiar with some of these objects. With something logical to cling to, something that made concrete sense, she was able to ground herself against these heady feelings, for the moment anyway.

She moved to stand on the opposite side of the desk, also examining the relics of human life. She grinned when she found one peculiar object. Lifting it gingerly by its thin arm, she brought them up to her face. "These were called spectacles," she said, bringing the thin wire frames in front of her eyes. Apparently the lighthouse keeper had had quite a strong prescription, because her lime green eyes were magnified.

Blue eyes looked up to see bright large green orbs, almost the size of lanterns peering out at her. The sight made her laugh instantly. She had never seen the eye wear, and found them beyond humorous. Looking away she had to hug her stomach to quell the giggles that rolled from her lips. They suit you. she spoke between the laughter. Braving another glimpse she was sent into another fit of laughter.

In her hysterics she knocked a near by box over, sending it’s insides rolling onto the floor. A small hand moved to pick up one of the bottles that had been released. Her thumb wiped the dust from the label, and she attempted to read was had been printed on it. Giving up quite quickly she turned to Gevena and let her head cock slightly in question, Do you read?

Geneva smiled, wrinkling her nose when Anu said that the glasses suited her. It was ridiculous, and she knew that she was acting the fool. But for once, that didn't make her uncomfortable. It felt good to make another laugh and smile. These were memories she'd cherish, she though, looking into Anu's joy-brightened face.

She settled the glasses on the desk again, her trailing fingers leaving paths of dust. She wrinkled her nose against the flight of dust, fighting not to sneeze. Nothing like gobs of snot to ruin a good moment and all.

After Anu knocked the box over, Geneva bent to read the label more closely. "I do read," she said, her eyes tracing over the spidery writing. "This one says...Pinot Noir, 1957." She looked back into Anu's face. "I think it was a human drink."

not sure if its possible, but it needs to be uncorked somehow!

Anu looked at the bottle, its slender neck in one hand and the larger round bottom in her other. It was full and uncorked, a human drink for sure. Anu had only tasted a few bottle beverages, each harsh that burned on the way down. Though it warmed every inch of her, the pain in her head that was left the morning after was certainly unpleasant. Still she couldn’t help herself, tearing the thin paper from the neck she smile a wide grin to Geneva. Think of something to celebrate.

She moved quickly, but the small ladder that led to the lantern room, paws along the railing she looked down the hatch to see if her friend would follow. A long thin claw pierced the thick cork, curving to catch the plug and with a swift motion the bottle was open and ready for whatever celebration the Geneva could think of.

Geneva felt as though she hadn't smile quite this much in a very long time. It was so easy to be with Anu. Just being around her seemed cause enough for a celebratory toast, but she knew better than to propose that. I'd like to propose a toast to the blue in your eyes and how lovely you are! Yeah, that didn't sound creepy or inappropriate in the slightest.

She followed Anu up the steps, thinking for a reason to celebrate. "To new opportunities," she said finally, not entirely sure what she meant. "And new adventures." Smiling, she took the bottle from her friend and took the first damnable drink.

my dog is snoring… !

Stepping onto the deck she watched the grey hued female join her. She was happy to give up the bottle, and toast to such an occasion. Anu watched her face, for a reaction that would give away the taste of the alcohol. But there wasn’t much of a change, meaning that it wouldn’t be as strong as some of the other’s she had tried.

To the new. Anu took the bottle, as it was her turn to swig from it. The liquid hit her lips, and washed over her tongue. It was a little bitter at first, but then melted in her mouth with a fruity after taste. It was warm in her stomach, but didn’t burn on the way down. It was pleasant, like the weather the company, and of course there was always the view.

Smiling at Geneva, Anu walked to the edge. The glass that had once held the lantern room enclosed was gone, and the copper roof was aged and green. But the railing was still intact, and supported her weight as she leaned against it, eyes looking out over the water.

Its breath taking. The words could have been lost in the large sky that surrounded them, but there was something that made Anu sure they had been heard.

Geneva followed behind Anu, purposefully a step or two behind her. She moved slowly, letting the taste of the wine roll around her mouth before she swallowed it. It was a little bitter at first, and she fought the urge to curl her tongue away from the human liquid. But the initial taste died down for something subtly flavorful. It felt warm going down her throat. The gray wolfess cocked her head to the side. What an odd drink.

Stepping out onto the deck, she was shocked by how the temperature had changed and how clean the air felt in her lungs. The room within the lighthouse had been dusty, stuffy and warm. The air almost burned her lungs the way the wine had burned her tongue at first. Maybe because she hardly dared to breathe when she was so close to her blue-eyed friend.

Geneva smiled as Anu took her first drink. She followed her almost mindlessly, the desire to be close to her overpowering her conscious thought about moving. She came back to Anu's side, leaning against the railing on her elbows. Her shoulder brushed Anu's as she leaned out, her lime green eyes wide, sweeping over the sky and the ocean. "It seems, so...endless!"

now my dad is snoring… !

Looking out in the vast sky Anu watched the dark clouds move, and listened to the ocean swell and recede below them. It was endless, the sky, the water and horizon. There was notion of its ending, and the thought made her speechless. Nodding her head slowly she once again thought of how small they all truly were. Mindlessly she took a sip of wine before passing the bottle.

Anu leaned to knock her shoulder against Geneva’s, softly waking herself and her friend from the captivation. Can you believe that there is beauty like this, just sitting around waiting for us to find it? A smile dawned her face as she felt the excitement of their discovery. Of course it had all just been here, the lighthouse and everything surrounding it, and they were certainly not the first to climb its spiral stairs. But it was still something to celebrate.

Awww. My cat is purring and trying to sleep on my jeans.

Geneva nodded wordlessly, taking the bottle of win back gratefully. She took a huge slug of it to keep from opening her dumb trap. "Just like your beauty!" She swallowed those words with the red wine, spilling down her throat and stomach. She hadn't been prepared for the force of the taste, though, and she sputtered. God, how lost she was! She nearly laughed, her sputtering turning into choking on the wine. She put the bottle down on the railing, coughing and smiling at the same time.

"I think I got a little carried away," she wheezed ruefully. She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, before picking up the bottle and giving it back to Anu. "I think we'd both be safer if you were in charge of this," she said with a grin. Little did she know there was a lot more truth to her words than she knew. Geneva had never imbibed anything other than water in her life, and didn't know about the properties of alcohol. She had no idea that the light-headedness she had begun to feel had more to it than just being near Anu.

"Tell me the most beautiful thing you've ever seen," she said, suddenly wanting to know so much about Anu. Before, she had just wanted to enjoy the moment. But now she wanted more than a mere moment of memory. Knowledge was power, and all knowledge was worth having. She wished to know all she could about her beautiful blue-eyed friend.

EDIT: What the feezy? I swear selected Stockholm for this post!

i do that alot!

She stifled a laugh as her friend nearly choked on the beverage. The tawny fey knew how it felt to have the alcohol catch in her throat, being more powerful then what she was prepared for. She patted her back gently in hopes of calming her coughing, while her free paw took the bottle. No need to worry, I’ll let you know when its safe to have another sip. Anu understood how embarrassing it might be to stumble over such a drink, so she thought quickly to move in the direction that Geneva sought to send the conversation.

It wasn’t an easy answer to find, and her brain worked to full capacity to search for it. There was so much that could be called beautiful, nature in itself was a masterful artist that painted sunsets and constructed living statutes daily. It was hard to pick out just one thing, when the northern lights were a normal evening affair as a youngster, and in her prime views like the one they shared took only a days hike to find. Then, she thought of Nani and how beautiful things were sometimes actions.I don’t know, there’s beauty in everything. It would be impossible to compare it all. It was the best answer she could come up with, but honest all the same.
