This is the moment that I live for

I went ahead and titled Leland and added him to the ranks, since we already know he'll be accepted. XP

Morning had come and past, bringing on the cold of the evening and the small flurries of snow that accompanied it. Ayegali watched it fall slowly to the ground, leaning back against one of the posts of the barbed wire fence. The days had been quiet since they had arrived and they had all seemed to settle in fairly quickly. Prey was abundant, even in such a cold time, and life seemed to be starting over for all of them. This is what brought such a content feeling to the dark woman who stood and watched, knowing that there was some comfort for those who had managed to make it, despite the fact that they majority of her tribe, including her own siblings, hadn't made it back to them. Like all good leaders should, the red dyed woman had faith that her members would pull through and soon be reunited.

With a careful smile on her face she pushed away from the post, making her way across the snow covered ground slowly. It crunched lightly beneath her as she went, making her way from the fence and farther in to the lands. The horses were content and warm in the shelter that had been built for them, lined with fur and blankets to keep out the cold air and hold the warmth, and Ayegali regarded with with a smile and a nod as she passed them by, breaking away from the open field and entering a small patch of trees.

Shifted, as that seemed to be the norm whenever he had encountered DaWali or his daughter, Leland sat cross legged amongst the trees, letting the snow fall beside and atop him. The snow made everything bright and white, strangely so for the evening’s lighting, and muffled the sounds that normally would be crystal clear as the animals settled in for the night and the nocturnal ones awoke. There was no other word to describe the scene other than peaceful, and Leland was more than happy to attribute that word to the evening and anything else he had to describe at that moment. It was the word that describe how he felt, and he projected that feeling onto everything: the night air was at peace, the trees were at peace and even the falling snow (which was the most animated of all Leland saw) was at peace.

Even when he heard the rustle of movement and the sounds of snow crunching underfoot, that did not disturb the peace Leland felt. He had accomplished his goal, found a home before this year died and a new one began, and though he hadn’t really settled in quite yet, he knew that in time this pack would bring him great happiness. He did not have to reason that, he just knew. Leland also knew, that in order to fully achieve that happiness he did have to integrate himself fully into the pack, and what better time to start than now? Rising up and shaking the flakes of snow from his fur, Leland moved into the direction he had heard the foot steps passing until he saw before him the back of a female. Clearing his voice, he prayed that he was not disturbing her peace. "Ahem, beautiful evening, inn’t?."

What made the dark woman even more at peace was the fact that it was so quiet out. It may have been due to the cold, certainly, but the lack of members wandering the lands told her that they had mostly all found a place to settle, or at least had found a place to begin to call their own. To Ayegali, the comfort and happiness of her tribe was only rivaled by their safety, and so far she felt that they had gotten a grasp on all of those things. Losing their previous home had taken a large toll on their members, most of them had lived out their whole lives in those lands, including her. Now they were mostly made up of newly acquired members, at least until portions of the old tribe made it through the weather and started to arrive, and she hoped that the comfort of the current residents would make it easier for them to call this new place home.

"Yes, it is." She answered the voice even before turning to see who it was, which she did only a moment after she spoke. She had seen him around the lands, a friend that Dawali had made and brought with him. "I hope you're finding things well here." And by that, she meant just about everything. Even she would have to admit that she had found it a bit difficult to settle in, but it was just like any other transition that she had made in her life, it was just that the difference now was that she tried not to show it. How could the rest of them be expected to settle in comfortably if it was apparent that their leader was having trouble doing so. Luckily for her, it was becoming easier, and calling this place home brought a smile to her face now.

     Short short short...

The raven lady did not seem alarmed by Leland and the husky mix bowed his head to the lady. He couldn’t be sure, but from the description that DaWali had given him, Leland could guess that this was Ayegali, the leader of the tribe. The way she spoke seemed to confirm that. "Yes I am. The lands ‘ere are beautiful and the tribe members quite helpful… I’m settlin’ in nicely." DaWali had been really the only member who had help Leland to settle in, answering his endless list of question about the tribe, but it was hard to imagine that any of the other members would be less pleasant than the red wolf had been.

"I’m Leland, it’s a pleasure to meet you miss." And it was, especially if the lady was who he guessed. It was his goal to know every member of the tribe and it was best to start with the leader, that way he could direct newcomers to her, or at least given them a similar description as the one DaWali had given him to start them on their way. "If ya don't mind my guessing... you are Ayegali, are you not?" If he was wrong, it wouldn't be the first time, and Leland was not ashamed of being wrong. Embarrassment was part of life, Leland like to experience all aspects of life equally.
