Outside of the rocky fortress of the pack den there was quite a snowstorm raging. The frosty air of the outdoors could be felt on the very fringes of the wide entrance of the cavern, where it spilled out and eventually melted into the natural warmth of the room. Then again, perhaps the fact that there was a purposely kept fire in that very first room that helped to keep the cold away. Valentine had watched the snow swirling around from the entrance for quite some time, wondering just how much more would eventually pile up before it all quit. The cold wouldn't have been so bad if it hadn't been so windy, but when it came to weather there wasn't really a whole lot any of them could do about it. So he had retreated to the depths of the cavern, settling for the library once more to occupy himself for the time being. He had never really found anything to read thus so far, but there was quite a lot to pick from. Some of the books were so worn he was indifferent to moving them beyond were they sat, others were not so worn. Different languages, thin and thick books, they certainly had quite a lot to choose from. So once again, he was back to the silent debate of just which shelf to pick from, and just what books to choose.

"Dammit!" Theodoric exclaimed uselessly against the cold, the wind, and the snow swirling aggressively around him. So much for his brilliant hunting plans. Any hunting would be useless in this weather, at least until the snow finally settled. He'd just go hungry until then. Admitting defeat, the grayscale werewolf wrapped his cloak tight around his shoulders and stumbled blindly back to the den. The warmth struck as a wonderful relief and he basked in the light of the fire until the snow dribbled annoyingly from the ends of his clothing. With a sigh he headed back to his quarters to find a dry pair of leggings.

When he emerged, feeling infinitely better, his attention was caught by the fact that somebody occupied the nearby library. Admittedly, Theo couldn't read, but he figured he'd go investigate anyway. After all, his previous plans for the day had been conquered by a the elements. What better a chance to go and get acquainted with another pack member? If nothing else, winter offered plenty of occasions for socializing. He got as far as the library entrance, and there his burst of outgoing spirits died unexpectedly. An awkward silence (for his part at least) ensued.

Been a couple of years, it seems. Smile And this post is weird, I'm still trying to feel out Valentine's character.

From the shuffling of feet and the undeniable smell of dampness that he couldn't quite shake, Valentine would have almost been completely oblivious to the fact someone else was there. That was, until he had peered just around the corner of the shelf a little bit to investigate this sudden oddity that was placed against what had become the norm. At first he wasn't quite sure he had much of anything in the shadowy entrance but a long shadow, which would have made normal sense. But this was no ordinary shadow either, it was distinctly wolf. He leaned out a bit more this time, dark brows furrowing with thought as a grey fellow finally slipped into view, the silence by then had become quite awkward. As his expression relaxed, partially relived that some madman hadn't been standing in the open passageway, and that he hadn't been entirely out of his mind for smelling what he had (and hearing).

“You've been outside,” he said with disregard to the obvious, rocking back behind the shelf to put back the book he had just grasped absently. “I wished the storm outside would die down already, the whistling is beginning to get quite annoying against the rest of the quiet.” Little things that he should have been able to shut out were near impossible to really do at times, especially when it came time for sleeping. If insomnia was an inheritable disease, then it was quite possible he had gotten it from either one of his parents (who had their own definition of what sleep was), but more so it had along the lines of trying to settle in. He had met a few familiar faces, but remotely Valentine was still quite the outsider. “But you're someone I haven't met yet, despite a few of the others,” he prattled on, again stepping out from behind the bookcase altogether and making his way up to someone was evidently looked to be his elder in the right light.
