one more trip 'round the sun

She hadn't even realized that the weeks had been passing her by and the world was still changing. She'd blamed herself for what had happened and she'd begun to let her life slip past as well. She hadn't done a damn bit of her duties and she'd been demoted. She'd ignored her family and her mate the past week or so, keeping to her new duties as she watched the border for her child's return. She loved them all, but it was like revisiting her own past when she'd learned of what her daughter had done. Hadn't she done nearly the same thing... had she broke her mother's heart too...

She had been laying down along the river's edge as the sun sank lower and lower into the sky. Soon enough she'd have to go back to the den, but the little bit of annoyance of having to face her family was holding her back. She wondered of the other packmembers gossiped behind her back at the slight. She was the alpha's mate, and yet she'd been demoted in spite of that. She knew all in all she'd deserved what had happened, but to hear it from Phoenix's own maw had just raised a tide of anger inside her. At times she could almost believe that he didn't care at all that their daughter was missing, after all he had been against letting her wayward son into their lives. It really was her fault... was she that bad of a mother?
