It was kind of hard to know which one was the real child here. Haku or the children. A miserable grimace was on his face as he circled around the crying child. He had carried the little Conor Soul into the living room so that Emwe would not wake up and join Conor in his wailing. He wished Firefly was around; he was so not good with small children. He had raised Coli, true, but she had spent her first months in her mother’s birth pack. Right now the children were just small fur balls without language or brains. He was happy Firefly had finally decided to trust him enough to let him be alone with the puppies, but he regretted volunteering to babysit them while she was out for some fresh air and gods knew what else. He tried to make soothing sounds like their mother usually did when they got upset for some retarded reason only they knew, but Conor seemed to be deaf to his attempt, because the bloody thing just kept on wailing.

The male slowly picked the tiny fur ball up in his hands and held it up to his face. Little miniature Haku, oh doo dooo dooo dooo. The Lilium hesitated for a second before he twisted his face so that it matched the expression of his son. Oh, boo hoo! He lifted the male up and down in the air randomly as he felt desperation grab hold of him. No, that was not right. The chocolate father cradled the little thing against his chest and patted the tiny butt of the screaming baby. What the fuck was he supposed to do, did it look like he had any milk to give? Besides, Firefly had fed them right before she left, so he could not believe it was what the child screamed after. The adult hummed pathetically and walked slowly in circles in lack of any ideas. His chest suddenly became damp and wet, and to the sire’s great consternation, a stream of warm and wet shit started running down his chest. The smell was a mixture of dung and milk, and the father started to gag.

Alexey had pondered leaving the cabin's premises when she'd established that Firefly wasn't around. She knew that Haku didn't take too kindly to unexpected visitors, but his blatant ignorance when it came to taking care of puppies had Alexey worried and, well, highly entertained at the same time. Truth be told, she often found herself trying to avoid the Lillium. Lexey didn't quite know how to act toward him, torn between treating him like a leader or the rapist he was. Did people really deserve second chances after commiting such acts of cruelty? Either way, she really had no choice. In the end, he was still her Lillium and pack policies required her to treat him with respect.
The tawny girl stood in the doorway, her back leaning against the frame. She made no effort to hide her presence nor did she try to make herself noticeable. She was there because her co-rank required her to keep an eye on the children, at least that's what her excuse was going to be if the chocolate male ever questioned her reasons for being there. A smirk was plastered on her lips as she watched the inexperienced father struggle with his newborn child. At least he was trying to make everything better, even if his methods were a little ... peculiar.
Her ears perked up curiously when Haku held the child up to his face. What he did next almost sent Lexey over the edge in laughter but she did her best to remain quiet. When Dahlia's Lillium resorted to throwing the child up in the air, the golden femme had to bite her lower lip to keep herself from chastising him. She would not spare him the embarrassment of what would inevitably happen if he kept bouncing his baby around. He would have to learn the hard way, and he did shortly after. Conor regurgitated (of course) and Haku started to gag. What an idiot.
"Haku!" Alexey swiftly moved forward and took possession of the child, giving the man a chance to regain his composure even if he didn't deserve it. Honey-hued eyes then observed the man sternly as she held the pup close to her chest. The Lierre had no clue what to tell him, so she started with the most obvious thing to say. "Just go clean yourself up."

He had not been brutal with the child, it had just been some experimental moving the child around before he had tucked it against his chest. The male's eyes had already an angry look in them when Alexey appeared out of nowhere to take the boy away from him. With the child's wail ringing in his ears and his full attention on its pathetic form, Haku had completely overlooked the woman and so did not notice her before she already had said his name out loud. He flattened his ears and let go of the child completely, lifting his arms slightly and gazing down on the damage that had been done to his lovely creamy fur. He glared at the warm hued woman before he decided to target Conor. What was worst of all was that the little piece of shit had stopped wailing the very second it was done relieving itself on his father. Fucking fuck snot. This was a conspiracy.

He turned around without a word and walked outside to get the shit off. The male started with rubbing snow on the damaged area. He entered the hall and got one of the buckets filled with water that he always had standing there because the pipes did not work, so they had to get water from a small stream nearby (that was mostly frozen nowadays), or snow. He walked outside again and slowly poured the cool water on the remaining shit that clung to his fur, while he rinsed with one hand. So horrible, little shit kid. Worst of all, Alexey had seen it. He would perhaps have felt embarrassment if it had not been for his anger directed at the child and the earth coloured female that had just walked into his house without knocking.

He knew Alexey was the caretaker in the pack, and he honestly didn't mind, but he disliked it when they just walked into the house like that. Besides, he disliked the woman that recently had returned to the lands. What she had done at the birth scene had made him furious in the after match. Half the pack made him angry, they had made their own profile of him and they didn't even fucking know him. When his chest and stomach was free of any stain, he quickly returned to the house, shivering slightly because of the cold. He found some cloth in the kitchen where he attempted to dry his fur a bit before he went up and checked that Emwe was still asleep. Then he approached the woman and the now content Conor Soul.

He stretched his arms toward the woman, and it was obvious what he wanted. "My son, please?" His voice was slightly darker than it usually was. Had the female taken the tour to the family's home because she knew they were alone with their father? It was the most obvious reason he could think of. Firefly seemed to intend to give him second chances, but the rest of the pack was likely not that trusting. It seemed that Firefly had told them all how little he had wanted the kids, and so everyone seemed to believe he would find a way to get rid of them. That was not the plan at all.

It was as if she could feel the anger boiling inside of the chocolate male. Alexey had expected him to say something when she initially took the child away from him, but she got nothing instead. His silence made her more than a little nervous. He was giving her the same silent treatment he had given the entire pack during the birth of his sons. And soon enough, she would feel the same regret she had felt that day. Once again, she hadn't taken the time to think things through before reacting and it had landed her in a sticky situation. Would she ever learn from her mistakes?.
Lexey watched silenty as the Lillium went outside and came back inside, both ears flattened back against her skull. She felt a little more self-conscious now, and she hoped that Haku's silence wasn't the calm before the storm. He intimidated her. Unlike Firefly, his reactions were unpredictable and that bothered Lexey greatly. Her attention turned back to the pup she was holding: Conor's cries had been replaced by adorable cooing, which brought a smile to the caregiver's lips. He was the cutest thing.
Haku eventually returned and demanded to have his son returned to him. Alexey obeyed, knowing better than to argue with the man standing before her. His tone of voice left no room for negociating, so she did her best to avoid any conflict. "Listen Haku," she started, although she was unsure of how to approach him. She barely understood her feelings toward the male. How could she make things better between the two of them? "I'm sorry if I offended you the other day," Apologies were always a good start. What next?
"I was wrong in thinking that you weren't cut out to be a father but-" she paused, trying to find the right words to explain things to him. Shit. She just couldn't do it. Alexey clamped her mouth shut and turned her gaze away from her leader.

700+ heh, im rambling a bit

If he was to sit down and think about it, he would of course understand the pack's caution when it came to small babies. Haku was one that murdered and inflicted pain because he liked it, so there were reasons to worry about him. Though, when had he ever harmed another pack member? Well, he had, true, but he had always reasons when it became psychical. Haku was a hard leader. If anyone threatened his family or any other Dahlia member, or refused to show him respect, then he could easily turn words into action. Lubomir had received a taste, and Coli had been scared half to death when he found her a few days after she had entered the pack. His mood had soured the meeting between father and long lost daughter visibly, but he had kept her tempter relatively good if anyone was to ask for his opinion of how it had gone. What was worst with the girl was that she ran all over the place and cried out about what he had done to her so long time ago. What was the point in that? He was a respected leader here, he had started anew. Then the silly brat had started running all over the place in her attempt to turn everyone against him. It seemed to be working, but there were some that still stayed strong and supported him still. He was grateful for that.

When it came to Alexey, Haku did not know if Coli's words had reached her yet, but if not then it was only a question about time before they did. He had just decided to not think about it. If the pack had big issues with what they heard, then he hoped they for once would come to him and talk about it before going crazy all over. That was what irritated the chocolate Lilium the most. Everyone just assumed, everyone swallowed rumors and words from other characters without questions, and then judged him endlessly. He was so tired of it. He took responsibility for his actions, but it never seemed to matter, because in their eyes he would never change. Luckily Haku was not a man that broke under such pressure. He had tried to alter it into something more amusing. He felt rather sorry for the rest of the flock for being so narrow minded. As long as he had a few trusted people around him and his position, he was unbreakable. Some things could sting, yes, but he was an immortal on his throne nevertheless. Alexey did not even know him, had barely spent any time in his presence at all, that was part of why his reaction at the birth scene had been so broken.

He took the child in his arms, quickly wishing he had not asked for it. He felt so clumsy, and the father was afraid the little snot would start his screaming again. He looked down at the boy and the child stared back with baby blue eyes in a similar color to Haku's own. It was impossible to know how they would turn out yet, with still strong baby colors. He perked his ears when the woman spoke up, calling him again by his name. The male looked up at the shifted female, his expression indifferent. It did not help her that his mood already was somewhat foul. He was slightly surprised as he listened to her apology, but his expression did not falter. Not cut out to be father. Strange how often he heard that sentence. Usually it was his own mental words. "Maybe I'm not." His voice was still dark and slightly dismissive as if he wished for her to leave immediately. The beast was still slightly wounded and it bloomed up in his head when he was reminded about it. "I'd just prefer to get a chance before the judgment, unless that is too much to ask for."

The male turned slightly away, and he was aware of the fact that he was rude. He knew he handled this rather poorly, but he was never one to talk about his own emotions to another being. He would never openly admit that they had tore him to shreds that day not too long ago. To feel was to be weak, he had been told, and he always did his best to remain strong. It had been slightly foolish to name the two boys Soul, because it could tempt certain enemies of his if they ever happened to run across the boys (and girl) and figure out their full names. Pack life with mates and all had probably been a huge mistake since it kept him from acting on behalf of his true nature. Still, there were certain aspects that he enjoyed. The demon stayed calm as well, a very strong reason alone to continue this life.

Alexey did not take her eyes off the higher-ranked male. If anything, she was staring him down. Didn’t he have any feelings? His indifference was bugging the hell out of her; the man was acting like a wannabe king. King shit, yeah. He was asking for a (second) chance and yet he made no effort to prove himself worthy of such an opportunity. Granted, he didn’t have to. Alexey didn’t exactly have any authority within Dahlia de Mai after all. But couldn’t he make a little effort? All she wanted was to catch a glimpse of emotion in his cool blue gaze. And unfortunately, she was getting nothing. Talking to a brick wall probably would’ve been more effective.
Regret was slowly dissipating, replaced by a mixture of annoyance and anger. She wanted to grab him and shake some sense into him; maybe his head wasn’t screwed on right. It went against her morals to argue with a leader and she’d probably kick herself a little later on for doing so, but right now, morals did not matter. When the Lillium turned his back to her, Lexey allowed a growl to escape her throat. It wasn’t a threat, just her way to get his attention. “I’m giving you a chance right now,” she stated firmly, moving over to stand in front of him. Alexey was a stubborn bitch; he wouldn’t get rid of her so easily.
“I once trusted you unconditionally. I’ve gone to war for you and this pack,” she continued, her voice shaky yet determined. “Now give me the appreciation I deserve! Give me a reason to trust you, damn it! Did you rape your daughter? Did you?!” Her tone of voice was unbelievably quiet, only because she did not want to upset the pup in Haku’s arms. Her hand had unconsciously moved up to the male’s wrist. She was holding on to him, making sure that he couldn’t turn away from her this time.

Haku could not be stared down. He kept their uncomfortable eye-contact with ease. This was him as everyone knew him. A cold bastard with no heart. He was not acting like the king he should have been, but merely the man he was. He had maybe wronged the pack in many ways, but he had learned from his early mistakes and was still working on his latter ones. Things were not as simple as Alexey seemingly wanted them to be. Her hard stare left no doubt in him that she was not satisfied with his reply. It was no surprise, but if she thought he could let everything go just with a weak apology, then she was very wrong. This was not just about her though, this was about the majority of the pack and their behavior. He was tired, so tired. If they kept treating him like a monster, he would eventually become one, he had no doubt. It was because of them he had turned away from that path. He was in their service, but the moment they let him go he would be devoured by the devil and he would give them the proof they seemed to so desperately want.

Her words were harsh, as if it was she that had been wronged. Foolish woman. "The appreciation you deserve? What about the appreciation I deserve? I've pledged to protect this pack with my life and I have served unconditionally from the first day I entered these lands." His eyes revealed the distaste for her words. She had left this pack behind, but he had stayed. Now, to Coli. "How dare you rise such a question in the presence of my son? As Dahlia's puppysitter, you really should learn to watch your mouth in front of the young ones." So Coli had been there too. It came as no surprise really. She had come to ruin his life. He wished she had been stronger than this. Colibri Haki was stuck in the past, and she was still a child. Pathetic. Haku hated having weak souls in Dahlia. "Let go of my arm, Alexey." Did she believe he would run away just because she had the guts to confront him? Did she see him as a coward as well?

The way his eyes seemed so devoid of emotions made Alexey sick to her stomach. Haku had the potential to become a great leader and he was throwing it all away by acting like a twisted bastard. Lexey was starting to understand that her words meant nothing to him. Why was she even trying? Every single sentence that passed her lips seemed to go through one ear and out the other. Damn him. When Haku spun her question around and made it all about him, the tawny femme almost lost it. Had she heard everything right? She knew her chances of getting through to him were slim, but that did not stop her.
“Stop playing martyr. I’ll give you what you want as soon as you provide me with an answer,” she retorted, although there was something in the back of her mind warning her to just walk away before it was too late. Apparently, the chocolate male wasn’t done making things worse. Alexey stiffened as his next comment reverberated through her ears. Using the pup to avoid answering the question was beyond low. He was using Conor as a decoy! Once again, a low growl rumbled in the back of her throat.
“Is this how it’s going to be? You’re going to use your son as an excuse to dodge the bullet? While I’d like to believe he’s a little genius, I don’t think he understands what’s going on,” she mumbled through clenched teeth, shaking her head at the nonsense her leader had just thrown at her. When he ordered her to release his arm, she reluctantly did so. No matter how much she disagreed with him, he was still the one calling the shots. Alexey knew her place within Dahlia de Mai’s hierarchy.
“Put him to bed and then we’ll talk?” she suggested, wondering if he’d try to wiggle his way out of it.

The male produced an empty smile when he heard her words. Oh, now now, things did not have to get out of hands. She had demanded acknowledge of what she had done for the pack, but he believed his list over achievement was a slightly bit more impressive. This was not in any way a competition, and he was about to go and turn it into one. Now what did she think he wanted? Truth be told, he did not want anything from these wolves. He was only here because he had done stupid things and grown roots that had started to dig deep into the earth so that he was trapped. He was a shallow and emotionless man, and he wondered if he would still have been here if it was not for his promise to Cercelee. It would be ridiculously easy to leave it all behind just like that, but he just didn’t. His expression (or rather lack of an expression) stayed when she accused him of hiding behind his son. She was wrong. Haku was in many ways a fresh father. He had never cared for a child at this age. Coli had been two or three months when the pack had turned her away because of the way she had been conceived. Then it was it really, if Conor did not understand, then there was no reason they could not have this mature little chat. Haku’s left ear flickered slightly back. Why bother, people saw him as a horrible father already, so it was obvious that he would not have to make an effort.

”Then forgive me, I do not know when they start to understand what is happening around them. There’s this saying; better safe than sorry.” She suggested that he put him to bed, but if it was so that Conor did not understand, then there was no reason to do so. ”I like that you have the guts to raise the question.” She was one of the few, but it mattered very little, because the truth could not be turned into something pretty. ”Unfortunately the answer is yes. I raped her and then I left her for dead.” It was okay, he expected her to twist her face in disgust. He was used to it. He could not undo what he did. It was horrible, end of discussion. She was free to say whatever she wanted, and he was quite sure Alexey would do just so. She could be quite straight forward, but in some situations it could be a good thing. The child moved in his arms, and he lowered the small child to the floor so that the little piece of shit could go do whatever he wanted. The child did not know what he had done, but Haku would actually carry a grudge for quite a while because of what his little son had done. His calm gaze then returned to the golden eyed woman. He just hoped she wouldn’t get physical on him, because he was sick and tired of rapid females trying to beat some sense into him.

Lexey frowned suspiciously as the Lillium asked for forgiveness: his comment was most obviously dripping with sarcasm. Conor was sensitive to sounds and emotions like any other child but that did not change the fact that words were still a little too complex for him. Alexey had been careful not to alert him by keeping her tone of voice low. However, the tension in the atmosphere wasn’t hard to decipher even for a pup as young as Conor. He might not have been able to understand what they were saying about Haku raping his own daughter but he could probably sense the animosity between the two adults, which is why she had suggested putting him to bed.
It was a little too late to explain things to Haku now, he was already babbling away. The Koios girl rolled her eyes as her leader stated that he liked her guts. She was unsure of how she should react to such a compliment. Did he even mean it as a compliment? Regardless of his intentions, she simply remained quiet and listened to whatever he had to say. When he finally admitted that he had raped Colibri, Alexey did not budge. She had already known the answer so it didn’t come as a surprise. What was she supposed to do now? Somehow, she doubted that giving him a lecture would work. Insulting him was out of the question too, considering the fact that he was still her leader.
She just stood there for a moment, her eyes glued to his as she tried to think of something to say. “At least you’re honest. I’ll give you that much,” she started, pursing her lips together before continuing with the following: “I’ll give you the second chance you asked for. Not that you care what I think of you anyway. Coli’s old enough to fend for herself now even though you ruined her life. But don’t you ever harm one of your sons.” Alexey didn’t know why she cared for his children so much; it was more than just fulfilling her duties as a caregiver. When the chocolate male let Conor roam free, the tawny wolfess had to resist the urge to pick him up.

Alexey Koios behaved rather rudely in response to his words. There had been nothing lying under his words. Haku rarely decorated his words with empty bullshit just to make them look better in public. His face did not darken at her rolling eyes, but behind the mask the irritation rose slightly with the other woman. Right now Alexey was acting rather rude considering his position. Though, it was far from a surprise. He had already removed the woman from his mental list of the upcoming events only he knew about. He listened to her words, but only chose to stay indifferent when she seemed to repay him with a little pathetic compliment of her own. Haku never lied unless he really was forced to, which had not yet happened. Truth could be twisted slightly, but never to hide the plain facts behind his words. Of course he was honest, but obviously she did not suspect such a thing from a bastard like him. None of them did. If one was the bad guy, one automatically received all bad traits that could be found in the book of criminals. Haku was a liar, a hypocrite, a murderer, a thief; he was everything they were not. She then started to talk about some second chance he had asked for, and he flashed that horribly empty smile again, though his eyes revealed that he was somewhat amused at her words.

Had he asked for second chances? No. He had not received a first one yet. It did not matter anyway, no need to cry because of spilled milk. He did not want anything from the latte woman. She had spilled her own chance with him, so to be honest; there were no need for any amends in any form or size. He did not care what the warm coloured woman thought of him. They were all the same in the end, the pack versus him. Haku did not drown himself in self pity, not the slightest. He burned with righteous fury for a while, and then left it behind, but the memory and knowledge of his social status was always present. Coli’s life was ruined because she had given in and let him destroy it. It was just as much Coli’s fault as it was Haku’s by now. It was a choice one could make. One could lay the past behind and look forward, or live constantly looking back over one’s shoulder, and never be truly free of the horrors of the past. He actually had to make an effort not to roll his eyes back at the female when she began to babble about harming his sons. He had heard it too often for too long. ”Shut up.” His voice was not harsh, but it was clear that he had been warned about his sons too often, which was a bloody fact.

The little child gave a mewl from the floor, and Haku gave the annoying thing a little push towards Alexey. It was not hard, but the child lost its balance and stared up at him with shocked eyes that were in the colour of the baby blue that all children shared until they were past the first three months of their lives. Alexey was certainly not happy, but the father that did not want to be a father was sick of it all. He turned around and found the kitchen. ”Emwe is upstairs.” She should do her job and let him be. Maybe he should leave the house and do some of his usual border patrolling. It was quiet and the annoying woman and the children would be far away.

How rude! The golden femme’s jaw almost dropped open as the male standing before ordered her to shut her yap. She felt a little insulted and the expression on her face indicated it well. The way he spoke to her made her feel like a mere child. Alexey’s face twisted into a rather irritated grimace that displayed just what she thought of his attitude and what she really wanted to say to him. Something along the lines of: you’re an ass. It was best to hold her tongue though; challenging the Lillium wouldn’t give her anything aside from a few bruises, maybe.
Conor suddenly piped up with a comment of his own and right before Alexey could do anything about the little fur ball, Haku interjected by pushing his son towards her. “Oh yeah, that’s real mature of you Haku,” she said with disdain as she took a step toward the confused child sprawled out on the floor. With one swift movement, the tawny girl picked up the blue-eyed darling and cradled him against her chest. Her honey-hued eyes had lost their usual warmth, it was clear that both of them needed to get away from each other before things got out of hand.
She did not say anything when the Lillium informed her of his other son’s whereabouts. Instead, she climbed up the stairs to the children’s room. Despite their little argument, both of them had gotten what they wanted. Alexey got to spend some time with the kids and he was now free to leave the house and do… whatever it is he normally did. The Koios girl didn’t really care what happened to him or what he chose to do with his spare time.
