out to sea

DaVinci had finally decided that it was time to go exploring one of the small islands that Phoenix Valley had declared as their territory. He knew that there was an old mansion on one of the closer islands, he just had to figure out which one. The hybrid leader had taken one of the sailboats from the dock and was preparing the vessel for the expedition. He didn't know how long it would take to get there so he had woken up bright and early that morning to get everything ready. He hadn't told any of his packmates what he was up to but he figured it didn't matter, they probably wouldn't miss him anyways if the adventure lasted longer than he'd estimated.

Tossing his pack of supplies and equipment into the hull of the boat the male grinned to himself, looking forward to actually doing something for once that possibly wouldn't get the rest of the pack in trouble. He sighed to himself and wished that he could forget all the stupid things he'd done recently but he knew the only solution he knew to forget things was what had managed to make him do half the crazy shit in the first place. The other one to blame was his heart and he wasn't ready to tackle the solution for those problems just yet.

Inhaling the crisp scent of the sea breeze that whipped at his hair he just let go of the worries for a moment in time and tossed a few items that he'd thought he'd like to try out that he'd found in a store on the harbor's edge. He'd never been fishing with nets before but he wanted to try if the waters around the island were shallow enough or if he could find a little lagoon or something equally calm. Today was shaping up to be a fine day indeed, if only he could keep it thatway.

looked lonely

Pendzez sat in one of the pack rafts out in the ocean. Water rocked the boat back and forth. The sun shone down brightly, making a serenade of sparkling light upon the ocean's top. The suns beams reflected into multiple directions. With breeze coming from one direction, this seemed like a peaceful moment.

With a fishing pole in one hand, pierced the bait on the hook and swung it into the shallow water, hoping that a fish would take the bait. Pendzez seemed to be in the mood of catching fish and cook them on an open fire. Roast fish, wouldn't there be any other. Wearing a straw hat, he held on to the pole so it wouldn't fall into the water if decides to take the bait some distance away. He looked around the area, seeing the mainland and the islands that weren't too far away from where he was.

DaVinci caught sight of Pendzez right before he'd been about to untie the boat and push off the dock towards the island. He paused a second, realizing the boy was fishing himself before he grinned and called out. "Pendzez, come on.." It hasn't been an order, just a request. There was no reason for him to explore the island alone and there was no reason for the younger male to sit about all by himself fishing. Besides, it was better to explore with another just incase. He didn't want to think of what that 'incase' might be but he figured he'd learn one day. Hopefully not today though.

He tossed the rope in the boat and hopped in, waiting to see what the other male would do as he rearranged the equipment that he'd brought for the trip. He hadn't decided yet if he wanted to stay out at the island for the night or not but they could decide that later. For now they just needed to catch the quickest breeze off the mainland and go have some fun. He was tired of being pinned down with chores all day, a mini vacation was just what he needed.

Pendzez just sat back to relax while waiting for the rod to be snagged by a fish. Although, it wasn't really welcoming with fishing be himself. Maybe if someone was there, it would be fun. However, Pendzez would like some fish. Pendzez looked up with his eyes closed, breathing in a lot of air. It seemed peaceful, but it was quiet. Then, all of a sudden, his fishing pole was making sounds. A fish took the bait. He grabbed the pole, fighting the fish that was pulling on the string. It was a big one, but he wasn't giving up that easily. He pulled harder, then a fish just jumped out of the water, flapping and waddling his tail around. Oh, and it was a big one. A nice catch.

He stringed the tail after it stopped moving, until he heard his name being called out. He looked over and saw DaVinci was on another boat at the docks about to set sail. Pendzez waved back and said, "DaVinci, where ya heading off to?" Maybe he was going fishing too. Maybe Pendzez would have a fishing mate. It was getting lonely. "Gonna do some fishing, are ya?" he continued.

DaVinci began to pull the sail free from it's holding as he finished the last steps for preparing the vessel for sail. When Pendzez finally heard him calling out and responded DaVinci grinned and yelled back. "Heading out to the Trinity Isles, you wanna come?" He really wanted to see what all there were on the islands. They didn't look like they were just bare rock. He could see hints and shades of color from the beach and past packmembers had said that there was enough grounds to hunt on, though game there was generally small. "I figured we could try some net fishing on the sandbar.." and if course if they didn't catch anything thatway they could always just fish off the boat.

He held onto one of the posts of the dock as he glanced towards the other male as he asked. "Well, you coming?" a grin spread across his maw as he was ready for adventure, and if Pendzez didn't want to go then he'd go at it alone. It was all the same to him anyways.

Pendzez heard what DaVinci was gonna do. To the islands? Pendzez looked over to the islands. What could be interesting over there? Well, if it interested the Savant, then the boy couldn't argue. Pendzez thought that it could be interesting for him too. Seemed better going over there than sitting in a raft with a fishing pole. DaVinci asked if the bou wanted to go. Pendzez wanted to adventure to places and he's been to the islands, even though he's been in the pack for like what seven or eight months. Yeah, why not?

Pendzez looked back to DaVinci and yelled back, "Yeah, I might come with. Might be interesting." Pendzez repacked his kit that he brought with him. Grabbing the paddle, he stood up and readied to start rowing. "I'm meet ya over there." he yelled back to DaVinci. With the paddle, he started stroking like the human Italians did when transporting people on the canal. He checked the fish. Still tied up. Good. The boat moved closer to the islands. Pendzez stopped to look to see if DaVinci was setting sail.

DaVinci was wondering what was taking so long with his packmate as he turned to look towards the island as well. Raising his hands up slightly he tilted his head to the side as if to ask what Pendzez was waiting for. Within a moment the other male finally glanced back towards him as he decided that it was enough to interest him for the moment. When he stayed in his boat and started to make his way there DaVinci just shook his head and wondered what in the world the boy was thinking. He called out as be began to get ready, "See you when we get there.. I guess." Sighing to himself he pulled the last rope off the dock and set off towards the island as well.

He unfurled the sail and turned the rudder towards the island, watching as the winds puffed the sail full and pushing the boat out towards the island quickly. He wasn't surprised when his boat passed Pendzez by but all he did was wave to the male and smile. It wouldn't be long til he was dropping the anchor and exploring to his heart's content.

The stretch of sea was crossed easily and DaVinci let the anchor down as close to the lands as he could get before jumping off the ship and beginning to carry his supplies to land. He was quite sure that he would be able to get all his supplies off before Pendzez made it ashore. Though he had to wade to and from his boat it was still better than having to deal with rowing the whole way.

He sat back on the sands and waited for Pendzez to arrive to see just what sortof adventure they were going to get into.

Pendzez started to paddle the boat towards the islands again. Doing the Italian way was tiring. How did they used to cope with this job? Seeing something move, he turned to find that DaVinci was sailing past, waving at him in a teasing way. He just watched him go by without saying or moving a muscle. When Da had his back, he said under his breath, "Son of a..." He stopped there. He didn't say anything else. He didn't want to be disrespectful. He just remained silent and started to approach the islands.

Coming onto the dock, he put the paddle down and picked up an odd long sack that looked like it held pipes. He strapped it onto his back and picked up the stringed fish and his sack of equipment. He stepped onto the dock and began to walk to the beach area where DaVinci was.

He approached him carefully, gripping onto his supplies. With his cloth that covered what looked like pipes, he made sure it was secured around his chest. "So, where we gonna set up camp?"

DaVinci had set to repacking the items he'd brought out of the boat and had almost had everything ready to be moved to their campsite as Pendzez came to join him on the beach. He straightened up, throwing one of the pack's over his shoulder as he caught the words that the other male asked. He scratched at the back of his neck as he looked about the sandy beach as he stated honestly. "I don't know.. not the beach though.." He picked the other bag up as he glanced over to Pendzez, noting the items that he had, wondering just what he was carrying but not making a fuss just yet as he jerked his head towards the woods that started along the edge of the beach. "Lets head inward a bit and see if we can find a meadow or something.." he said as he started off, assuming that Pendzez would follow.

Shifting the weight of the bag on his back he called out to the younger male. "Just what are you carrying about with you?" He couldn't figure for the life of him what the other had had with him when he'd landed on the beach and though he'd seen others pull things from the human city he was at a loss at guessing just what Pendzez had claimed from the human world, or perhaps even made himself. What did he know about the package, absolutely nothing.

Pushing through the woods he mentioned to the other. "There's pos' to be a mansion here somewhere on the island.. I just don't know where." He really should have asked his mother when she'd gone to explore the island so long ago.

Pendzez looked around the area, seeing the woods surrounding the beach. Surely, there was a spot in the forest where they could set camp. Besides, Pendzez saw this a good moment to know each other a little more. "Yeah, it would be better if it was away from the beach." When Da started off into the woods, Pendzez followed the leader. He hoped that this adventure would go well.

Da asked about his long sack. Pendzez answered honestly, "Spears, made from sharpened metal heads and bamboo handles. They're basically replicas of my Icicle Shard." Pendzez hoped that it would answer the Savant's question. Pendzez took a while to make them.

Pendzez looked around the area they were in now. Da said that was a mansion around here somewhere. Catching sight of something that... looked like a house, Pendzez pointed out to it. "Wouldn't that be it over there?"

ooc- Sorry if this is crappy, I'm not feeling to well. >.<

ic

He nodded at the comment that Pendzez had gave in answer to his suggestion that they move farther into the woods. The area wasn't very dense seeing that it was an island and soon they found themselves pulling out onto a meadow as Pendzez began to give him an answer as to what he was carrying about. DaVinci frowned at the words and glanced towards the younger male. "Why so many?" he asked. He'd always thought that one weapon was enough and it was just bothersome to carry more, unless the boy had been making them before he'd attempted his fishing that morning.

When Pendzez caught sight of the mansion in the distance DaVinci grinned at the other male and suggested. "Let's check out the mansion before we try and set camp.. if we're lucky we won't even have to and we can just shack up in the house.." He hoped that they could be so lucky but he knew nothing of the state of the building, for all they knew it could be falling in on itself, but there was only one way to find that out.

Moving towards the mansion he quickened his pace, wanting to explore the building early before they set to find out what else was around them on this strange isle of land. He grinned as they stood on the steps to the building, DaVinci questioning the younger male, "Shall we?'

OOC: It's cool. Just take it easy when not feeling well.

IC:
Pendzez was told by his father that the Icicle Shard was made of a sharp spearhead cut diamond with the hardest wood in the whole world as the handle. Breaking or snapping it would be troubling and difficult. There were some that would try to get there hands on it. Making replicas are ways of shielding it. It was as simple as that. "Well, it's a way to disguise the real thing."

Pendzez nodded at the Savant's suggestion. There might be rain later on and there no tents brought, plus trees aren't going provide much protection. If the mansion was still intact, it might be a good shelter. "Maybe better there than out here." He stretched out all of the stress in his muscles, waiting for Da's next command.

Pendzez followed the Savant to the building, stopping on the steps to the veranda. He looked around. Who would live on this island that was surrounded by ocean? The humans were a strange bunch. Maybe some prefer to be alone from the rest of the world. Looking back to the leader, he replied, "Sure."

DaVinci stared off into the meadow as the boy finally came up with an answer to his question, when the words met DaVinci's ears he just grunted and shook his head. Sometimes he was lead to believe that his packmates were even more paranoid that he was sometimes. He glanced over at the younger male and asked. "Do you really honestly think everyone's gonna try and steal it?" He ran his hand through his hair and shot back to the boy. "Maybe you should just use them for what they were meant for, or teach someone else how to use them.. something useful.." he said as he plucked a tall shaft of grass and stuck it between his teeth as they moved on.

He paused in step to the mansion as he eyed the large building. He doubted that there was any wolves on the island who were living there but it didn't hurt to scope the place out before crashing there for the night. It wouldn't suit to wake up around midnight with a stranger looming over your form screaming and shouting like a loon. He rolled the piece of grass around on his tongue as he hummed. "We'll have to make certain no one else lives there first.." he said, reminding Pendzez that they might not be alone on the island.

Pushing open the door when they finally reached their destination DaVinci was rewarded with a loud groan and creak before the sun filtered through the door and through the millions of motes of dust the lingered everywhere. Shaking his head to clear the heavy air from his nose he cleared his throat and stepped inside. "Kindof creepy.." he stated as they entered the first large room, everything covered in white sheets with layers of dust coating the whole world they'd stepped into.

Pendzez looked at the sack, then back to the Savant. For a leader, he should also know that there are some things that are personal. Pendzez created replicas not only for a disguise, but also for a way to practice, also to teach others how to with the use of his Icicle Shard. Pendzez, maybe, could teach the sub-leader. "Well, who said I won't? Maybe you could do with a lesson about the use of a spear. What do ya think?" Pendzez looked out to the meadow before looking back to Da, waiting for his reply.

Pendzez looked at the mansion. The building stood on firm ground, a good foundation. However, being on a remote island, who would be living here? Maybe some deranged wolf that claims whatever he gets his hands on. Wouldn't that be a weird sight, seeing things that are claimed. Strange things. "Hopefully not. I don't know who would want to live on a remote island. Odd and strange wolves probably."

The white wolf followed the Savant into the building. Dust started to gather about around the doorway, tickling the boy's nose, inducing a sneeze from his nostrils. Wiping his maw with his arm, he looked around the house. "Dust" Pendzez looked at the Savant as he commented about the inside of the mansion. Pendzez didn't agrre. "I've seen creepier. I know your sister was."

DaVinci glanced to the boy and his sack of spears as he asked if DaVinci himself wanted a lesson. The male smirked and shook his head as he answered. "No, I don't think I'm the student you're looking for." DaVinci hated to tell him but he knew well enough how to hunt with a spear, with a bow and a slingshot, he just never figured he needed to use them since he was just as adapt on all fours hunting. Fighting was another story, but DaVinci didn't get himself in a mess unless it was needed, or atleast he liked to think he didn't.

Trading his glance back to the building he flicked his ear back at the comment that the younger male had as he replied. "I don't think wolves lived here, probably the last to live here were the humans.. but you never know, loners sometimes pick the strangest places to shack up.." he figured that they were safe but he still kept his eyes open and his ears perked. He didn't want to be the one to explain to Jefferson that something when wrong because he wasn't paying attention.

Moving into the building he felt the draft crawl over his skin as he caught the scent of stale untouched material. No one had obviously been in the house for a long time. His comment about the place was responded with something that really caught DaVinci's attention as he turned back to Pendzez, wondering what the hell that comment was about. "What the hell is that suppose to mean?" He doubted that any of his sisters would have anything to do with the young male, but he still didn't like the boy talking about his family, even if they weren't as close as they use to be.

Pendzez looked at Da with his reply to Pendzez's offer. Oh, that was a pity. The white boy would have been glad to be a teacher. Mabye the Savant didn't like the idea because I could have been embarrassing. Well, the boy didn't see what would be wrong with it. Da looked like he knew how to use it, but the feel of the weapon, the proper timing to strike, the movement and flexibility of the handle, the real purpose of the head. There were... alot of things that needed to know. Maybe that's what the Savant didn't want to go through. "Oh, that's a shame. Besides, there are a lot of things to know than just swinging it. Maybe it's not your thing."

Pendzez looked around again. On second thought, the place might be deserted. However, like Da said, Loners who think they can take what's not theirs'. Still, caution is needed. Who knows who would be hiding out here. "I hear ya. I know what that would be like."

Pendzez froze because of what the Savant replied. Oops, he's a goner. Pendzez tried to think of something that would clear it up. Without making DaVinci even more furious. Pendzez turned to face the older male to say, "I'm not being serious. It just came out. Please don't bring the place." Pendzez turned back around to look at the stair case. "I'm gonna... look upstairs." Pendzez then began to walk up the creaking steps. Making it up, he looked around the hallways. Nothing there. Pendzez turned back to the Savant and acknowledged, "There's nothing here."

DaVinci wondered if the young male knew just how arrogant he sounded when he spoke of the knowledge of the weapon he welded. He shook his head as he flicked his gaze back to Pendzez. "I've no use for weapons. I know how to use them but I don't resort to them unless all else fails." He shifted one of the parcels in his arms as he remarked. "Besides, I'd rather not be stuck carrying something around all the time if I'm not always going to be tramping around like a human." DaVinci had grown use to his optime form but he still would rather travel on four legs anyday.

DaVinci was quiet as Pendzez made the comment about being a loner. DaVinci just nodded and pushed on through the door to the mansion before placing his armload down on one of the covered tables in the first room they came to. He was still annoyed at the comment that Pendzez had remarked on his sibling and he wondered just which one of his sisters had met the boy, besides Naniko that was. "No, really, which one?" He asked, but his words came too late as Pendzez made his escape to go check out the upstairs.

DaVinci shook his head in annoyance as he wandered about from room to room checking downstairs while he heard the footsteps of the younger pack member up above. When the voice called out that all was clear DaVinci called back. "Everything seems fine down here too.." He made his way back to the foot of the stairs as he leaned against the rail and asked. "Now, about my sister?" He wasn't going to let Pendzez get off that easily.
#18
Pendzez acknowledged the Savant's own ways with a nod. He wouldn't force him into doing it. Well, unless he would want to be ripped to shreds. People liked using their own ways of doing things. Da likes his own hands and Pendzez likes his own spear. The white boy was cool with it. Maybe there would be someone else who would be willing to know the ways of the spear and the arts of combat with it.

Pendzez felt a tingle in his nerves as Da wanted to know which sister he was talking about. Pendzez didn't know which what the name was. The female never said, nor did Ember say which. Pendzez leaned forward on the rail upstairs as he looked at the Savant, thinking of words to say. "I...don't know her name. When I met her, she had the Dahlia de Mai scent on her. She was roughly my age at the time. It was like... six to eight months ago. Anyway, she just just like snapped and sort of yelled. Do you know which one that would fit that description?"
#19
DaVinci watched the boy as he came into view at the top of the stairs. He could probably imagine which of his siblings could actually manage to mess with someone's mind but he didn't voice this just yet, he wanted to see just what Pendzez had to say. It didn't take too long before the truth seemed to come forward as DaVinci scratched at the back of his neck. "I don't know any of them that would snap unless you were doing something you shouldn't have." That wasn't exactly true but he had two sisters who'd lived in Dahlia de Mai at one point or another, actually both had lived there together for a bit of time til something or another happened between the two.

DaVinci stretched his arms out over his head as he yawned and went on. "Besides, Firefly and Ember both belonged to Dahlia de Mai about that time.." He really couldn't give the boy a direct answer but he could probably figure out pretty easily which one had snapped at the boy. Firefly was know for her quick temper and how she hated to deal with strangers. Pendzez would have fit neatly right into her dislikes without even knowing it.

He shook his head and pushed away from the stairways. "C'mon, lets go see if we can catch something for dinner off the shore..." Perhaps getting out of the house for a moment would be better. They could figure out what they were going to do as for somewhere to sleep after dinner.

Pendzez watched as he waited for the Savant's answer. Pendzez thought of what might have happened that Da would do. He just hoped it wouldn't be to drastic. Pendzez heard what the leader said, only yawning and moving hus hands to his head. Pendzez shifted his eyes to the left before shifting the back to the Savant. He said Firefly and Ember. Pendzez then realized it was Firefly because he met Ember and she wasn't that bad. She was actually quite nice. Pendzez new that one day that the two would meet again. He thought he said that he would teach her the ways of the harp. Firefly was left. "It was Firefly because Ember didn't act like I described it."

DaVinci then said that they should get dinner from the shore. Some fishing? Well, Pendzez didn't expect that as a reaction about the Savant sister deal. Pendzez didn't give a sigh of relief because he thought he wasn't out of the blue yet. He only just stood up and walked down the stairs to follow Da to the shore lines so they can get some fish with the net that they brought with them. "Um, sure."
