out to sea

DaVinci couldn't help himself as he laughed at Pendzez's response. It had to be Firefly that the boy got on her bad side. He just rolled his eyes and explained. "Look, if you wanna go looking for trouble, she'd be the perfect way to." He didn't know what it was that the boy had done but he'd probably deserved any lip Firefly had given him. The girl could be nasty but it normally wasn't without reason. He didn't care what happened between the two as long as one didn't kill the other, but he couldn't promise that Firefly wouldn't attempt to off the boy, even if he was from their pack.

He just shrugged it all away and grabbed two of the nets off the table, gesturing for Pendzez to get a move on. "Hurry up, we're burning daylight." He really didn't want to be caught out on the shore in the dark since he didn't know it that well. He hummed to himself as he trotted down the stairs and out into the field once more, leading the way to the beach. He didn't know if they'd find a perfect spot right off the bat or if they'd have to look around first so they had to be quick about it. "Tide should be coming in sometime soon, it will be shallow clear out to the sandbar and hopefully we'll be able to see what we're trying to catch." He grinned at the other boy as they made it to the beach.

Pendzez wasn't the one that looks for trouble. Trouble seems to find him. However, there was one trouble that was in the form of a rogue wolf that happens to be the one be got into a scrap with when the boy was still a loner, realizing that it was the same one that killed his parents. That was the trouble Pendzez was facing, but there will be a good time to settle that. He just wanted to get on with his life. He didn't want the hate of rogues to go too far. "I don't go looking for it. It just comes by." There was a time and a place for that. Right now, dinner needs to be solved.

Pendzez walked down the stairs and followed the Savant to the field, whispering a little tune as he went.

Kokyuu ni karamaru chi no kaori ga koukotsu no yoru ni tadayou
Senketsu ni somaru mirai no toki... hageshiku modaeru honnou

Coming to the beach, he stopped the tune as Da was saying something about the tide coming in soon. Pendzez looked around the beach. There should some fish that would hang around the shallow water, surely. However, how long left until the tide will come in? Maybe there will be some more fish if the tide was in more. "Ok. Maybe we could catch some trout or salmon."

DaVinci couldn't help but snort at the words that the younger male granted him. He didn't know anyone that trouble just found. Normally if you noticed trouble on the horizon one would turn and run the other way or atleast skirt around it. He knew trouble quite well, he was quite good at getting himself in it and he doubted the young kid who was still more a child than an adult was much the same. "Just comes by my ass.." He wasn't going to argue with the boy but he made certain to get his own thoughts in on the matter.

They headed through the meadow back towards the beach, the whispers of the tune that Pendzez was singing catching his ears now and then as he flicked them back and forth, trying to keep alert to what was going around. He probably should have told the boy to be quiet with the fact that they were in unknown territory but he didn't. He figured that there probably wasn't much that could really harm them and if their was they'd just deal with it like the pack always had in the past.

When they finally arrived on the beach DaVinci began to sort out the fishing nets, handing one over to Pendzez as he began to arrange the weights on his own net to where they would cast over the waters and sink to the bottom quickly. He rolled up the legs of his pants before he began to wade out into the chilly spring water. A grin on his maw as he began to see the fish milling about in their schools down below. "Come on Pendzez, if this doesn't work you can go back to your pole.." He really didn't care if they caught anything, he just wanted to see if the nets really worked. They would be nice to use in the shallows of the lakes, rivers, and streams as well if they worked well in the ocean.

The white male heard what the Savant said under his breath, but Pendzez just didn't even bother to listen. What the boy does is his own business. Da didn't need to know everything about the boy and his personal life. Right now, they had to concentrate on getting food for dinner and seeing if there are things that might be editable to wolves. Making it to the beach, Pendzez was handed a net to get untangled. He fiddled around with the squared string net, getting it untangled getting the weights right. Getting it fixed up, he followed the Savant to the river.

Arriving to the river, he watched the leader roll up his pant legs and went into the water. Pendzez followed him, moving slowly so the fish wouldn't frighten away. Coming up a few feet away from Da, he readied the net for the perfect timing. There was patience that had to be taken when doing something like this instead of making haste and lunge. It's like a sniper aiming at his target. Patience has to be taken to aim at the right place. It was the same.

DaVinci was slightly surprised that the male didn't defend himself but he didn't say anything instead he went about his was trying to reach the beach. He had shifted and fiddled with his own nets until he had everything perfect. Wading out to the sandbar DaVinci watched the younger male as he seemed to be gathering and fixing his own netting. Lifting and dropping his hands to gather the feel of the fishing net he finally pulled back his arm and with a fling he let the nets fall softly over the top of the water.

With a soft tug from the tides as they washed back and forth over the nets DaVinci began to slowly pull the nets back towards him, combing the bottom of the bay for crabs or fish that were too curious for their own good. He could already feel the thrashing of something that had realized too late that the nets were to be their doom. DaVinci grinned as he swiftly pulled the nets out of the waters, revealing a medium size fish and two good sized crabs tangled in the material.

"Fish or crab?" He asked as he untangled their future meal from the ropes and placed them in two traps he'd brought to keep them fresh.

Pendzez looked at DaVinci when he offered a choice of either fish or crab. Looking at Da's net, there were two crabs and one well sized fish. They looked delicious, but he would choose to take the crab if he didn't catch anything himself. "If I don't catch anything, I'll take a crab." Returning to the water he saw the fish gather together after seeing the coast is clear of the Savant's net. He waited some ten seconds before throwing his net into the water. He watched it sank down as he gripped the ropes.

After another few seconds, he started to pull the net out with the ropes. Seeing that he caught something or things, he had a closer look. There were two good medium sized salmon, one crab, and one large trout. He looked at Da and gave a devilish grin. "Never mind. Want a salmon?" he asked politely. Da offered a choice of his catch, maybe Pendzez could offer him a fish, if he wanted one that is.

DaVinci wrapped his net around his arm as he leaned back and took the time to watch the younger male begin to try his own hand at fishing in this new and strange way. DaVinci thought that the nets would be a grand thing to use back in the packlands once the cooler weather was finally past and the heat of summer starting. He knew the best times for fishing was the evening and early morning and he figured that fish could be smoked and tried just the same as any other meat. He pondered the idea as the younger wolf began to haul his nets back in.

The nets brought back and the other male studying his catch DaVinci let a smile settle on his lips as he commented. "Nice, but I think I'll stickto my own... now lets get back to camp and get a fire started, if we're lucky we'll have these cooked in no time and our bellies full." It wasn't like the pack ever went hungry, but the thought of a full belly was always promising.
