From the top of the tree he could see just about everything. The sun shone brightly down across all of Inferni and, if it weren't for the fact that Jasper knew some of the residents could be as horrible as they were, the sight would have been profoundly beautiful. The young man knew that the beauty was just a mask, beautiful no matter how barren some parts of his 'home' happened to be, because beneath the beauty that he tried so desperately to see, he knew there was something horrible. What horrible things had the coyotes of Inferni done, though? Honestly, all Jasper had to go on were rumors, for he had never been close enough to see anything happen nor brave enough to ask Corona or Gabriel if the rumors were true. He had no proof, only word, and even then he was convinced that he felt something terrible in this place.

Dropping his butt down onto the thick branch where he had previously been standing, Jasper turned himself and held on carefully with both hands, dropping to the ground below. Unfortunately for him, his landing was as simple as he could have hoped for. There was a soft crunch as he landed, sickeningly squishy feeling beneath his right foot. He hadn't noticed the tiny mouse, who had likely only stopped for a small morsel of food, when he was dropping from the tree. He moved his foot, immediately dropping to the ground at the sight of the now half dead creature.
"Ohh.."It was a quiet sound, sad. He hadn't meant to and though many would simply pass on, Jasper couldn't. Jasper scooped the little grey mouse from the ground, cupping it in his hands and holding it close. Hopefully it wouldn't suffer long, Jasper didn't have the heart to finish it off. It was one thing to kill something with the intent of eating it but it was a whole other killing it on accident.

Maybe they could try to hunt, and a large animal could attack Siobhan like we talked about? ^^

She had been going out of Inferni more and more now that she had some kind of a quest, and was sometimes gone for most of the day before she would come back. There were things to do here, like her training with Ezekiel and Gabriel and other things like that, but she found far more interesting things outside of the clan's territory. She wouldn't admit it to anyone, but she'd been looking for someone for weeks now...more than two weeks, and hadn't been able to find him yet. She knew where he lived, but every time she went to the border of that inland pack the male was nowhere to be seen. She felt like a failure, not being able to locate Haven. She hadn't even been able to tell him what she had been thinking about, or what she was feeling.

But she would continue looking anyway, until she found him. If not in Crimson Dreams, then somewhere else. Siobhan was just coming into the borders when she heard a voice, and her ears perked up. Male, yes. Soft, yes. Haven? ...no. She wasn't disappointed to see Jasper, not at all, and she wasn't sure why she had expected to see her orange companion there beneath the tree. There was something wrong with the black-eared hybrid, though, it seemed. What was he doing crouched on the ground like that? She approached quietly, frowning. "Jasper?"

Yay! That works for me. 8D

He could feel the odd feeling in his eyes, the same feeling that came every time that he was about to cry. Things had changed since his father had died though. He had to be strong, strong like Ahren had been, like he had told his father he wanted to be. The young man fought back the tears, holding his breath and tilting his head back until he was certain that they wouldn't come. It worked for the time, though he could still feel the threat of them each time he opened his hands to look down at the frail body. He hadn't meant to step on the mouse, hadn't meant to harm anything, and he only wished that the little creature could understand that. He was sorry.

Jasper didn't even hear to coming until she was so close, until she spoke his name and made him jump. It was a voice that he easily recognized though, one that he was happy to hear. "I stepped on it.." He spoke sadly, finally turning around to face his smaller friend. "I didn't mean to hurt it.." Finally, deciding that he could reveal his horrible deed, he parted his hands open to show her the little grey mouse. "I don't think it's going to make it." He said finally, acceptance of the fact, but sad none-the-less.

She could recognize a gentle soul when she saw one, and Sibohan had found that she tended to gravitate toward these types of creatures. It didn't matter to her if the creature was a wolf, a coyote, or a little of both...even though in Inferni, most were coyotes. Ezekiel was one of the ones that she stuck close to. She did have a few friends outside of the lands that weren't coyotes...like Haven, though. But he was part coyote. Siobhan looked at Jasper with interest, coming closer and looking at what he had in his hands She enjoyed Jasper's company in a new, strange way--she had never met anyone who was shyer than herself, and found him very interesting indeed.

The crushed mouse looked like it was on its last leg, and she closed his hand over it again so that she didn't have to keep looking at it. It was really sad, the look that it was giving them. Did it know it was going to die? "It was an accident...you would not step on him on purpose, Siobhan thinks. Eh...maybe...put him under a leaf or by this tree, and maybe he will feel better after a rest and will run home." He looked too injured to do that, really, but what else could they do? Carry him around? "We can come back and look later and see if he is still here. If he isn't, then he ran home"
