She ran until her feet refused to hold

private, somewhere between CD & Halifax.

The rain had finally ended, but the clouds would not dissipate. They hung over her homeland like a canopy. Shadowing the Manor, blocking her form the sun. Leaving them in darkness. Mati moved quickly, as quickly as her heavy body would move. Her nose fell to the ground and followed the scent that had turned and run from their home in distress. The girl knew where she was going, but there was a mystery in her sister’s intentions. Mati did not want her to venture into a vipers nest, full of dangers and poisons. Her mind’s eye was filled by the vision of the small pup, how she had cried when she held her. When it had come time to tend to her, and face Savina, Mati had been strong but her heart was still broken by the little ones illness.

She began to run, the scent filling her nose and propelling her forward. Violet eyes searched the horizon, seeking out the white pelt of her sister. There were times when Mati felt distance between them. They did not hold the bond that she and Haven held, but still Mati felt their blood connect and would not let her follow their mother into a world of drugs and destruction. She wasn’t happy that Naniko had been dethroned, not that Mati was, but she had not know the things that had been said. She did not know the effects of the powder their mother stayed loyal to. Long bounds brought her close, and she hoped to cut off her path.

Sisterly conflict!

Brooklyn no longer cared. How dare Savina suggest something like this? How dare she think that removing Nani would make everyone love her? The girl had stormed out of the meeting with no look back, not able to face the way everyone had taken the news. Lying down, like cowards. How could they just remove her mother like that, as if she were a rag doll? Naniko was innocent, Brooklyn was sure of it. Her mother, an addict. How ludicrous. So she would take it upon herself to prove them all wrong, come hell or high water. She'd hastily thrown her coat over her fur, to hide herself better. White would stand out too much. Without a word, she was out of the manor, running towards the city. She would find her mother and bring justice.

The girl no longer feared anything. What was there to fear? She would find no comfort in Crimson Dreams any more. Haven would need to find out, of course. Mati knew and the girl had to pause and decide where she stood with her sister. Could she convince her to act against Savina? "Mati will need to know," she whispered to herself. No matter. For now, finding her mother would be enough. They hadn't even let her stay there, they hadn't even allowed her to defend herself. Cowards and fools, the lot of them. She would show them. Leaving the lands, the girl threw her head back, shaking the bangs out of her face. She was alone, utterly alone. A prince saving the princess. Brooklyn smiled. Savina would get her comeuppance very, very soon.

!!

The young woman approached her sister with haste. Brooklyn had something she felt needed to be done, and Mati wanted to know what it was. She looked upwards at the shifted wolfess, though she was tall enough to come beyond the taller females waist. Her four legged form was powerful, and gave her a domineering look. As she closed the distance, she ran ahead and then turned to stand in front of the girl, stopping abruptly. The look at the alabaster girl’s face was not a surprise. There was anger, hate, concentration. Mati spoke, Where are you going Brook? The question had an obvious answer, but she want to know where she thought mother would be. And of course what she though she was going to do when she got there.

Brooklyn had not expected things to go smoothly. They never did, did they? Just like the time she had tried to visit Gael and ran into the strange, old hybrid. That meeting had shaken her somewhat, but not as much as what was going on now. This was close to her heart, close to her home. Gael could wait, but her mother would not. The girl had thought things would be hard, but not Mati. She'd hoped Savina would come, so that she could give their new Commander a piece of her mind. But instead it was her sister, unshifted and scary. Mati's size dominated Brooklyn and the girl stopped, her tail flicking irritably. "Mati." She tried to make her voice as cold as possible, but the pain was there. No, they could not argue, not now. "I have to go find Momma, Brook. You heard what Savina said. Those lies." She looked away angrily, trying to hide the tears in her eyes.

Although she would never admit it, Brooklyn was scared. Afraid of what would happen now that things were changing. She had to preserve the old ways, just had to. "Mati, I want to find Momma. Bring her back. Prove Savina wrong." The anger at the thought of the black female made the girl snarl. She wiped her tears away and locked eyes with her sister. Oh, just let her try and stop Brooklyn, just let her dare!

Looking at the white wolfess, standing in the cloud shadowed air with determination on her face, Mati couldn’t help but think back to when she ha been envious of the prettier fey. But it was not a moment of recollection, she needed to focus and find a way to convince her of their mother’s misdeeds. She looked hard at her sister, They aren’t lies. She said, knowing that what had happened was spoke truthfully at the pack’s gathering. Mati had been there, where Brooklyn had been at the time was a mystery to the young woman.

The brown wolfess would not move. She wanted her mother back, though she had only been missing for days. Their was a place where she fit in her life, and there was a void there now. But it went deeper then just a physical presence, she wanted her mother back. before the addiction. I want her back too, but she cant come back. not until she isn’t on that stuff. She needs to apologize. Her voice calmly, slowly spoke. She needed an apology as well, not just those that had been hurt by the accident.

Oh, Brooklyn had anticipated a reasonable approach. Not from all members, especially if they thought that Naniko had been rightly thrown out, but she could never really fight her own sister. Perhaps they hadn't always been the best of friends and she had always thought of herself as closer to Haven than to Mati, but she could never physically harm her, no matter the reason. So in a way, she told herself, it was better that her sister was being peaceful so far. "How do you know? Did you see everything? Did you see Momma leave that stuff out? How do you know Cambria didn't get into it because she was being nosy?" Brooklyn didn't want to say that Savina was a bad mother, but the intent was there.

How could Mati just expect Brooklyn to go back and leave Naniko out there, hungry and alone? "Apologise for what, Savina's bad parenting skills? And where was the father? We both know ours did what he did, but Kansas is responsible, isn't he? Why wasn't he with the puppies, then?" Her voice was rising, the anger ever more pronounced. Brooklyn would not let this go without a fight and if her sister would just leave her alone, then they'd both be happy. Mati could go back home and the white girl would go out into the city and find their mother.

She wondered if her sister had thought this through fully. Did she think of the pup, their pack’s pup. Yes she belonged to Kansas and Savina, but also to Crimson Dreams, just as Mati did. When she had been hurt her mothers had comforted her, sought to protect her and ease her fears, but so had Savina. The wolfess was like an aunt to her, as close as blood. She felt the same sort of connection with Cambria. When there was a birth, they became children of the pack. Each member held just as much responsibility for their care as the mother and father. It was the core reason that wolves banned in the numbers that they did. With their spear and blades hunting was no longer a group affair. But it would always take a village to raise a child.

I was there. I took Cambria into my own arms. And it doesn’t matter where she put that stuff, or how it was exposed. It was there and it shouldn’t have been. That is the point Brooklyn. Mati felt the fire rise in her voice. She did not like that she was accusing Kansas and Savina, they were not the culprits and neither was Cambria. Did our mothers watch us every waking hour? It would ridiculous if they did. Mati answered her own question, still no backing down. Her breath was heavy, but she calmed her pounding heart and felt the tension weaken. Her voice grew sad, as thoughts of their birth mother ran through he mind. Momma is sick. I know she didn’t do this on purpose, but she cant come home. Not like that. Not as an addict.

Sorry for delaying some more Sad And uh, tl;dr? 300+

Brooklyn was losing precious time. In anger, she started pacing in front of her sister, her coat billowing behind her, revealing faint marks where the Darkness had touched her. She had said nothing, had nursed herself back to health on her own, keeping the wounds clean as best she could. There was no proof that they were infected and they'd stopped hurting a while ago. There was nothing to show now but missing patches of fur and faint pink scars. Things her coat could easily hide. Like, apparently, her mother had hidden her addiction. When Mati gave her story, Brooklyn stopped, frozen in place. So. Just as Savina had said, that was where she and Cambria had been. It changed nothing. "I do things all the time that I shouldn't. Haven too, before he moved. You can't be all innocent either. Who's to say we aren't endangering the pack? Who can say what should and should not be brought here? Momma is a healer!" Strawman argument, and she knew it. The human drugs did nothing to cure, to help.

"Were they quick to jump and throw people out? Do you know, once, Salem nearly drowned out on the lake? Savina saved him. Why wasn't someone watching him? If we're all responsible for the three new pups, we should all get the blame. I spoke to her, Mati, and she didn't seem evil. She's a good mother, she always was. She made a mistake." Brooklyn hated how her family was falling to pieces. Anu and Naniko breaking up, Salem running away, Haven becoming an alcoholic, the horrible truth about their father, all of it leading up to this. She couldn't take much more of it. She wanted her sister at her side, helping Naniko, not condemning her. When Mati confirmed that she believed their white mother had been innocent, Brooklyn saw her opportunity. Her eyes blazing, she turned and gripped her sister's shoulder, slouching somewhat to make sure they could see eye to eye. "Mati. Help me find her. We can help her, save her." Ever the prince, Brooklyn, regardless of what others had said.

Mati could see the agitation in her sister, and it was growing by the second. The brown female stood strong, her large body in the werewolf’s path. Violet eyes watched her, wanting for the moment that the two legged female would run, if she was foolish enough. The Church girl was steadfast in her position, and she didn’t want her sister running off to find their addict of a mother. The worst would be that she was influenced by Naniko, enough to try it. There would be nothing more tragic then her sister becoming addicted as well. The moment she spoke of Haven Mati could not control her reaction. The fur on her back rose, and she spoke with a harshness that would intimidate any beast. “You might, but Haven was lost, and he left so that he didn’t bring that into our home. Don’t you dare place a single ounce of blame on him…” Mati didn’t care what Brooklyn was trying to prove, but bringing their brothers into the conversation was not a smart idea. “Brooklyn, do you think Savina doesn’t feel guilty? Everyone but momma feels guilty.”

She remained silent. Her anger quieting and the rage simmering. Mati did not know why she did not feel the same sadness that her sister did. Yes, she was upset and shed tears for her mother, but only after she did for the pup. She did not know why, but her heart was hold so very close to those three. They were the center of the pack, and could feel the ancient instinct that drove their species to gather as a pack and care for their young as a whole. Violet eyes watched the blues that the taller white wolfess held. The pressure of her hand on her should pushed her closer to saying yes as the question was asked. “I don’t know if she will want it. But I’ll go with you.” She looked away, turning and began to walk in the direction of Halifax. Where else would those looking for a fix go?

Back from absence now! Should we PM James about joining next?

Brooklyn stood proud before her sister, but it was becoming clear that the adrenaline was wearing off. She had been so confident to begin with, she truly believed that there was more than what had been shared at the meeting, that she could genuinely save Naniko on her own, prove her innocence. But now Mati stood before her steadfastly, unwilling to budge, and the spectre of Haven rose between them. She did not want to blame him, not once, but to keep blame from him meant that she would point the finger at her mother, because one had run off and the other had hidden the danger inside the pack. Haven had faced his problems, Naniko had endangered the whole pack, had nearly killed Cambria. Brooklyn's eyes filled with tears and she looked to the sky, trying to make sense of everything. "You're right... I wish I..." Brooklyn's voice faltered. Could she admit to her own guilt now? Was she guilty for not seeing the change in her mother? Had she herself been blinded?

Mati relented, but the girl felt none of the usual happiness at winning an argument against her system. Perhaps this was the true sign of growing up, that all petty joys of childhood were slipping away, that now she could carry the burden of this and not waver. And thankfully she was not alone. When her sister turned to walk towards Halifax, Brooklyn wiped her eyes and followed her sister. "Thank you, sis." She'd hardly ever used that word, but now, as they both walked towards the uncertainty of what would be in Halifax, it seemed oddly fitting.

pp, let me know if i need to change anything. ill ask james to join us :3

The weather was worsening, as the two sisters moved side by side. Brooklyn in her optime form and Mati as a feral lups. They moved with a fluid motion and it was when they moved together that it could be seen that they were sisters. Mati had never seen the resemblance in their forms, taking after the mother they sought in size and then truly nothing else. Brooklyn had taken her coat, her beauty and her willfulness. Maybe her smaller stature and figure was from the coyote in their fathers blood. The violet eyes fey moved to a swift trot, beating the thoughts out of her mind with pressured paw steps.

A scent came, heading east and flowing towards then in the heavy wind. The keen hunters followed it, moving as if it was a deer in the brush and they starving beasts. The city was close, the foliage sparse and the tree still young and newly born from natures recapture of the developed lands. In silence they worked together to keep the trail, the rain and moisture keeping it heavy on the ground. If she had been trailing another the young woman might have felt it necessary to slow and rest but Mati found that she had more energy then she had started with. Letting Brooklyn move ahead, Mati shifted. When she returned to her sisters side, newborn and tall, purple eyes looked onto a human dwelling. It was obvious that the scent ended here.

She was glad that Ehno had come to see her...but it had left her with somewhat of a bittersweet feeling. She was trying her damndest to stay away from the areas where she knew there were drugs...but those places were everywhere. Maybe if she burned the buildings down...yes...that would do it. That would get rid of them. If she could keep herself from taking any of them before she burned the place down, then it would be good. It would work.

The shifted woman stood on two legs, a small can of gasoline in one hand and a lighter in another. Naniko stood before the bar that she had met Sabeen in, the bar where all of this had started, looking through the cracked, open door with wide jade eyes. She needed to burn it all down, to burn everything. All the memories. She walked inside, starting with the bar stools. A bit on each one of those. Then she went for the bar itself, and few bottles of alcohol still left there. They would burn really well. She poured the alcohol all over the bar itself, on the floor and on the ratty old couch in the back.

When everything was ready she leaned over, lighting the bar on fire. She had made a trail, of sorts...the fire would spread really easily. With that done the werewolf turned, stepping out of the bar and into the street. She felt an urge to go back inside and gather up some of the cocaine before it burned in the fire...but she fought it, standing still with her arms crossed, empty can tossed to the side.

And here is the drama train rolling in :O 300+

The silence stretched between Brooklyn and Mati, but neither of them seemed inclined to break it. There was no need for words and the white girl looked anxiously towards her sister. How they had both grown, how easily they had moved from childhood into their teens. They'd both be a year old soon, but how much had their relationship changed? Mati had become the stronger of the litter, while Brooklyn had taken something from Naniko, her grandmother's eyes and perhaps something of her father. Like Haven, who shared his colouring, she probably shared his size. With a shake of her head, the girl banished all thoughts of him and focused on finding their mother. Halifax loomed ever closer and they reached it in the same kind of silence they had been sharing for a while now, though Naniko's scent had become ever stronger. "She's around here, somewhere," Brooklyn stated, feeling the need to break the quiet.

The smell of gasoline caught Brooklyn's attention and then, from somewhere a little way off, smoke rose over the sleepy houses. Her blue eyes widened. Her mother had done this, for her scent lingered strongest here and she knew, in some instinctive way, that she had started the fire. "Mati! Look over there!" Her voice was pitched higher than normal and fear was clearly audible. With a frightened glance towards her sister, she tore from the brown female's side and ran, ran like the wind, her cloak flaring up behind her. She knew her sister would follow. Brooklyn turned left and right through the streets of Halifax, following her mother's scent, hoping that she was safe.

Rounding a corner, the white girl saw her mother's shifted form standing in front of the burning building. "Momma!" she shouted, lunging towards Naniko. They needed to get away, fast, before something terrible happened.

oh and the train is a'rollin

The girl wouldn’t have minded the silence. It wasn’t the yelling or the uneasy words that she felt would come forth at any moment. There was an overpowering darkness inside, and anger that stretched beyond just the disappointment she held towards her dam. It wasn’t just Cambria, and the pain the little pup had felt as she lay in her large arms. It was pain that belonged to her own heart, and it fought its way to the surface. When her sister broke the silence she broke Mati’s thoughts, and she was grateful. They looked through the window, and found nothing but a dimly lit room and no mother wolf. And then the voice of her sister brew her away and after the white shewolf in a sprint. She was not as fast in this form, and lagged behind thought by much.

She did not speak, or call her name. Her words were lost in the shock. The building was enraged in flames. A burning hatred that ate up the bitter and aged wood, and licked at the concrete foundation. Her purple eyes were filled with the growing flames, and she could not move. What had she done? The girl could believe that her mother had done this, and endangered even more with her actions. “What did you do? She suddenly felt as if a child again, her voice soft and almost a whisper. She breathed in the smoke, and with it came the taste of fire and anger. “What did you do?” It was louder, and yet Mati did not scream even though she meant to. Eyes went to her mother, and demanded an explanation.

Two figures came toward her through the smoke toward her and at first she wondered if she really was going crazy. Without the drugs for comfort the woman had felt very, very alone...she had seen things a few times, or thought she had. Ghosts, maybe. Naniko believed in those kinds of things, that spirits could remain on this planet. But it would make more sense for the ghosts to be humans and not wolves. She had never seen an actual human for herself...she'd only heard of them and seen pictures.

"Brooky. Oh, Brooky...what are you doing here?" She asked. The white girl seemed to be in a hurry, for some reason. She didn't want to stay and watch the building burn? As soon as she opened her mouth to speak, though, the other came toward her. Mati. She frowned and stepped back from the pair of them and from the building, growling at accusing tone that her second daughter had given her. "What the fuck does it look like I've done, Mati? This was the place where everything started...where I found that shit to begin with. All of it needs to be destroyed."

ooc: Mild PP, let me know if I should change.

There was smoke everywhere and the burning smell of wood was so thick, Brooklyn was choking on it. Where was her mother? Where was Mati? Part of the roof seemed about to collapse and she immediately stood back, watching in fascination and fear. Naniko's voice, from so far away, seemed to pull her back and she looked with wide eyes at the white female standing there. They were all in danger, something was screaming at her. Her mind, maybe? Like waking from a dream, Brooklyn tore her eyes from the blaze and stared at her mother, before Mati's voice broke the silence. What had Naniko done? Trust Mati to show her maturity, instead of staring at the fire like a lunatic. Brooklyn heard her mother's voice, angry and the word 'destroyed' seemed to put everything into clearer perspective.

Like being doused with cold water, she shook herself, her blue eyes no longer vacant. They glittered with alertness and she felt the blood rush back into her body, and there she was, alive, young and running once more towards her mother, the roar of the fire dimming in her mind. "Momma, we got to get away from here! It's dangerous!" She needed to scream over the noise, but that was the least of her worries. The grip on Naniko's arm was strong, confident, and already she was pulling away, silently beckoning for her sister's help. "We can find a place to stay, where it's safe. Don't be angry with Mati, she just wants to help. We both want to. Come on Momma, let's get away from here." Brooklyn was afraid, but she would never let that fear consume her. She and Mati had come here to save their mother, no matter what.

She could feel the heat on her face. The flames licking the dreary, gray clouded air. But it was not what filled her view. She looked at the alabaster female, her mother. She was tall and strong, even when the flames of her backdrop rose higher. Violet eyes were wide, surprise deep set in their color, and it were the words that she heard that surprised her more then the heat of the fire. A sweet greeting passed over to her sister, her beautiful sister with the same pure white coat as the mother that bore them. And she received curses and a growl.

Her heart rate rose, the hair on the back of her neck ticked and stood on end. She was mad. As insane as the bastard that was her sire. Was this what she was destined to become? Genes forged from a rapist and an addict, and her fate as harsh and odious as theirs had become. The fire disappeared, and the thoughts of such pain that had been brought on them by the hands of the female surrounded her. Her face grew hotter, but it was a different sort of heat.

Her sister’s voice broke her thoughts. And seeing her rush to the woman’s side broke her concentration. Mati hesitated, but followed and took hold of her mother’s other arm. She held it firmly, fighting the urge to grip it tightly. There was a frantic taste in Brooklyn’s voice, but Mati was not afraid. Though she had let her anger overcome her, Mati did not want to watch her mother fall beneath the collapsing building. She pulled, unsure of where they were taking her. “You’re going to get killed. Or hurt some else.” She said to the air, thinking harsher things thought keeping them inside.

They didn't have to come here for her--she thought that everyone in the pack was probably mad at her for what she had done, so why had they come here? She was getting rid of everything and cleansing herself of the drugs as much as she could...so why didi they stop her? She liked to watch the buildings burn down to the ground. They were horrible places.

"The drugs all need to be destroyed. I'm burning down every building that has drugs in it." She said. "At least the ones I know of." How could they not see that what she was doing was right and just? It was the city anyway...no one claimed it. She allowed them to pull her along until they were out of harm's way, then tried to pull her arms away. "What are you two doing here?"
