Ethereal Eclipse for Ehno. 300+

Rain still poured from the heavens, even though she was mostly sheltered beneath the trees. It didn't take long after the fight for the monster to release its grasp on her and afterwords she was left broken. All her anger had been spent and now she was only left with the feelings of inadequacy, doubt and pain. Blood still trickled from the puncture marks on her upper right arm and it throbbed with pain. The pain was nothing compared to what she had felt after the last time her personal monster had come out, but it only served to fuel all her emotional injuries, making them even more acute. She had done nothing to try and clean the wounds or stop the bleeding, her sense of self preservation having vanished.

The slender fey was laying on her side near one of the large trees, her knees curled up close to her chest. Sobs wracked her form as tears fell as freely from her eyes as raindrops from the sky. What had happened to her life? What had happened to her home and her family? Once again she felt as if she were being swept away from a dying ship into the stormy sea, though this time she was less certain of being carried to friendly shores. Would her daughter ever really recover from her ordeal? Would she and Kansas ever be able to mend things? Savina wanted those things more than she could say, but she didn't know if they were possible. Maybe there was nothing that could be done to help Cambria. Maybe this time she had pushed Kansas too far or his own guilt wouldn't allow him to stay with her.

All these thoughts assaulted her mind and she could feel herself cracking more with every barrage. For once in her life she felt like giving up, and that was perhaps the most scary thing of all.

Sorry for the delay!! 400+

Ehno wasn’t sure why he was out here, wandering about in the pouring rain. The only excuse he could come up with for his behavior was that he was simply patrolling the borders as he tended to do. All he was certain of was that he couldn't sit idly around the house. Either his feet or his mind had to wander, and he couldn't handle the stray thoughts that had been assaulting his mind any longer. He trailed along the borders of the pack territory, feet dragging along the muddy ground. The Italian man kept his eyes forward, determined to pay attention to his surroundings rather than the paths his thoughts wandered along. He didn’t realize how rain soaked his form had become until he reached the partial shelter of the more heavily forested part of the borders.

A relatively fresh scent then caught his attention, leading straight out of Crimson Dreams. It was the familiar scent of his sister, and without a second thought he found himself following the trail through the forest. He hadn’t seen or spoken to her for very long after the pack meeting. He didn’t care if she had some important goal for being out here in the rain; he just wanted to see her and talk to her. Maybe together they could make sense of this whole situation they had been thrown into. When he finally caught up with her, the sight shocked him. Sobs penetrated the air and her form was curled inward as if to block out the world. He immediately rushed toward her, kneeling beside her and wrapping his arms around her in a protective and comforting embrace. “Savina…”

The rain-scented air was tainted with the metallic tang of blood. He was even more alert now, eyes widening and ears perking. Amber eyes searched her form for any wounds, hoping that the blood he scented was not hers. Not a moment later he spotted the injury and panic seized him briefly. She had been attacked, but thankfully she didn’t seem to be too terribly harmed. Who could have done this to her? He stared at the wound on her arm, frowning. "Lei sanguina..."It was a statement of fact, as if voicing it out loud would somehow make it stop. Only then did he notice the scent, a trace of something familiar that awoke the angry part of his brain. It was only a moment before he recognized it as scent of the intruder from weeks ago. Ehno’s frown deepened, but his tone remained soft. "Ciò che è successo?" How did she get hurt? Why was she crying? He wanted to know about all that ailed his sibling, whether the pain was physical or emotional.

She wished the earth would swallow her up and she wouldn't have to worry anymore. Worry about her family, her mate, her pack, what everyone thought of her, if Naniko would try to exact revenge. She didn't have the strength anymore. The woman had never felt so lost in her life, not even after her mother had died. It was as if the pieces of her life were like water slipping through her fingers and there was nothing she could do to keep it together. The weight of it all had finally become too much for her and she was suffocating under the pressure. How could she have thought she could ever do this? Lead a pack? Who was she to have looked so far above herself? Wouldn't her father like to see her now, failing like a miserable little whelp.

The sound of someone approaching came to her ears faintly as if through a fog and she didn't even bother to look and see if it were friend or foe. Maybe that little shit had survived and come back to attack her now that she was weak and vulnerable. But it wasn't him. The Italian fey was wrapped in a warm and loving embrace and she didn't need to open her eyes to know who it was. "Ehno!" she cried. Her fingers clutched his fur like a lifeline. She needed him. She needed him now like she had never needed him before. He was the one she could always count on, the one who would always have her back. Her one and only brother. She continued to sob as she clung to him, unable to stop the tears.

Ehno's words about her bleeding went in one ear and out the other. Savina couldn't process them. She didn't seem to care about the life force that was weeping from her arm. It was his question that finally made her try to focus and calm herself enough to speak. Save the sobs she remained quiet for a few more minutes though. It took a while for her to gather any kind of composure. "T-tutto c-crolla..." she said, taking in a deep shaky breath. "K-Kansas...ha saputo...ha saputo di Naniko...ma non mi ha detto..." If possible she held him tighter, her eyes clamped shut. "Mi s-sono preoccupato sempre ha significato più a lui di m-me. Mi ha fatto sempre s-sente così insicuro...così indegno. F-forse è tutto vero..." Maybe she wasn't worthy.

Ehno felt sorrow and worry build up in his chest until the pressure became so great that he thought he would suffocate. His sister held onto him tightly and he responded by holding her just as tight. He wouldn’t let her go. He would remain there and protect her until she felt safe again, until the unbearable world became a place she could feel comfortable in once more. Seeing his sibling like this pained him greatly, brotherly instincts telling him to fight off whatever threat had left her sobbing in the forest like this. He closed his eyes and leaned against her, loosening his embrace slightly only so that he could rub her back in a placating manner. Minutes ticked by while they sat like this, though it felt like an eternity. Eventually Savina managed to calm herself, if only a little bit. Some part of his mind distantly realized that his fur was now wet with both the rain and her tears.

His sister’s explanation came shakily, hindered by both her previous sobs and the calmer tears that continued to wet her emerald orbs. The Marino instinctively held his sibling tighter as she revealed what had happened, confiding in him her insecurities. He was shocked by all of her words, but he refused to let it show as he was determined to be strong for Savina right now. She needed him now, and he would not falter, though on the inside his thoughts were reeling. Kansas knew? He knew about that dangerous drug Naniko had brought into their home and did nothing about it? If the pale man had done something about it their ex-leader could have been stopped, and his own daughter would not have had to go through that frightening ordeal. The thought disgusted and confused him. He couldn’t understand his brother-in-law’s actions. But Ehno dwelled no longer on that, thoughts turning quickly to his sister’s insecurities. He never would have suspected she felt that way at all. "Ciò non dice. Lei non è indegno," he whispered. "Lei merita solo il meglio. Nessuno lasciarla fa sente altrimenti." These words were firmer, but filled with love and reassurance.

She was so glad that her brother had found her and not someone else. No one else could have given her what she needed right now. Not even Kansas. No, she couldn't even think about seeing him again right now. The very thought that she didn't want to see him broke her heart. Faintly she recognized that the fact that she still, at some point when she was ready, wanted to be with him meant that they would be able to work things out. But that thought was in the very back of her mind, buried under everything else that was making her feel this way. She had recognized how much he had hated having kept that fact from her, that he wanted to take it all back, that he had been so sorry about it. But it had been too much. Everything that had happened coupled with her own insecurities and fears had driven her away. Away from her home, away from everyone. She needed to be stronger, but she wasn't sure if she could be.

Thankfully her brother was there, holding onto her and giving her the strength she needed to step back from the brink that she had nearly toppled over. Savina clung to his words like to clung to his physical being. Yes. Yes that was what she needed to hear. Deep down she knew it was true, but her fearful thoughts had made her forget it. The woman continued to breath shakily, trying to calm herself even more. It was difficult though, and she could feel her body begin to shiver despite her brother's warmth. "N-non non non era mai f-felice per noi...realmente...c-come dovrebbe essere stata..." she said softly. It was true, the lack of friendly affection at the news of her relationship still haunted her. It had hurt her, and hurt her deeply. A wound that was only fueled by the recent events.

"P-perché? Perché l'ha fatto Ehno?" Whether she meant what had happened in the past or in the present wasn't clear. Maybe she meant both.

Aw, these two are gonna need a happy brother-sister thread at some point to counteract all this drama. XD 300+

His sister still took in shaky breaths as if she were still on the brink of sobbing once more. She remained calm enough to softly utter more of her surprising thoughts. "Sono sicuro che era felice per lei, Savina. Lei e Kansas sono troppo buono per l'un l'altro per lei non di essere." Ehno couldn’t understand why his sibling would claim such a thing. The woman had been her best friend, so of course she would have been happy. Even if he felt angry towards the creamy-hued man right now, Ehno truly hoped that he and Savina would be able to work past this. The Italian man could hardly imagine them apart after all these months they had lovingly spent together. He sighed and hugged her a little tighter for a moment, wishing that he somehow had the power to make everything better for her right now. But time was the best cure for emotional wounds. Things had to be taken slowly with the promise of better days ahead propelling them forward.

Savina offered him a shaky question next. It was a question he had asked himself many times over the last few days. Why did she do this? Why did she have to walk down that destructive path that led to the pain of herself and those close to her? At first Ehno only offered a simple shake of his head in response, remaining silent as he thought about their ex-leader’s actions. "Forse… forse ha dimenticato appena che era." It was the only explanation he could come up with. Everything that had happened over the last few weeks swirled about in his mind, clouding his thoughts with confused emotions. He doubted he would be able to figure this all out even if he could think clearly. This whole situation only seemed to be getting more and more complicated.

OMG no joke. They need to go pick flowers or something XD 300+

They were good for each other. They loved each other. But it had seemed Naniko had been the only one unable to see it. Or even accept it. It still confused Savina. Even with the knowledge of what had happened between the ex Commander and her mate in the past, it didn't add up. That night had been a mistake. They had been drunk. Kansas had told her as much and she knew he wasn't lying. He had felt awful about all of it. Yet when she had finally told her once best friend that she and Kansas were together she had been met with a sort of cold indifference. Where she had expected happy exclamations she had gotten nothing of the sort. But it would do no good to keep talking about it now. The only way to understand was to see how it had unfolded, and that was impossible for her brother. So she said nothing, only hugged him tighter when he did. She didn't want to think about it anymore.

Why. That word had been flowing in her head constantly since this all had happened. Why hadn't any of them noticed something amiss before? Why had Naniko been using that stuff? Why had she been so unwilling to admit she was wrong or give it up? Why didn't she even care that Cambria had been hurt? The thought of her daughter sent another shot of pain through her form and she grabbed Ehno tighter. Damn her. She should be back at home watching after her sick child, not out here alone in the rain. "Come Cambria è? Non dovrei averla lasciata..." Maybe he didn't know, maybe he hadn't checked in on her lately. Gods she hoped her pup would recover from this. She didn't know what she would do if she didn't.

Got an amusing mental image of them frolicking through a field of flowers. XD And we can start to wrap this up, I guess? Unless Savvy's got more to tell brother-dearest. o: 300+

His sibling tensed and clung tighter to him, and it sent another worried jolt through his chest. He loosened one arm from his hold on his sister, once again rubbing soothing circles on her back. The reason for Savina’s sudden jolt became clear as soon as she spoke. Cambria. That poor girl had unwillingly gotten pulled into this mess in the worst way. Ehno had checked in on her from time to time as he paced uneasily through the manor. Each time he visited the sick child he did not hover there for long, knowing that he could not do much at all to help her. The child was never alone though, whether it was Mati or another pack member watching over her in silence. For that, he was glad. He didn't want the girl to be alone when she was sick. "Prende meglio. Lentamente, ma ricupera." Healing from that ordeal was proving to be a slow process, moving at an agonizing pace for those who wished to see the young Cambria healthy again.

Ehno pulled her close after a moment in a loving hug, before he leaned back slightly. His amber gaze sought out her tear-rimed emerald eyes and he offered her a half-hearted smile. "Dovremmo uscire dalla pioggia, ritorna al castello." He remembered Savina’s injury then, attention shifting to study it. "E dobbiamo occuparsi di quella ferita sul sua braccio." Once they were back at the manor they could dry off and tend to her injuries. His thoughts darkened momentarily as he remembered that Naniko was no longer around to patch up the members of Crimson Dreams. They would have to make do without her, using the supplies that were left around the pack lands. After that, he knew that Savina would go back to watching over her daughter. It would do the girl good to be in the company of her mother, and Ehno had a feeling it would be good for the Commander too.

lol! Savina would put flowers in Ehno's hair :3 No I think we can start to close it up! 300

Her sporadic breathing calmed as he rubbed her back again. Savina couldn't imagine what she would do without Ehno here. What things would be like if he hadn't ended up here. She didn't want to think about it because that notion made her want to start sobbing all over again. Being separated from him for a year had been hard enough, she never wanted to be apart from him again. He was the only solid link to their old life. Ghita had disappeared on them again. Ehno was all she had. The news of her daughter was nothing new, but at least nothing had changed for the worse. Still, guilt wracked her for having bolted from the house without thinking about it. "B-buono. Non dovrei averla lasciata tuttavia nonostante. Non viene primo, me." When you were a parent you had to put your children before yourself. She had lapsed in that.

As he hugged her close she did the same. "Ringraziarla...Non so che farei a meno di lei." She looked back up at him, using a hand to wipe her bloodshot eyes. Her head nodded. Yes, it was time to go back to the mansion. She didn't think she could handle seeing Kansas yet, but she had a feeling that he would know that. He already was probably finding a place out of the way, if he hadn't already. A little guilt tugged at her, but she shoved it away. Right now she needed to focus on other things. At the second mention of her injury she looked to her arm. "Oh..." She had almost forgot about it. "Almeno quel piccolo punk non dovrebbe pasticciare con noi più..." No doubt her brother had smelled the scrawny hybrid's scent on her. At least she had given much worse than she'd got.

Is it bad that I kinda want to see that happen? XD 300+

He could understand why his sibling would feel that she had acted selfishly, but he had another perspective on the situation as well. "Ehi, non preoccupa di ciò ora. Il Cambria non vorrebbe vedere che la sua mamma è triste, la destra?" His sister may not be happy that she had taken off so suddenly, but Ehno figured it was for the best. Seeing her mother struggling with her emotions like this wouldn’t be any good for the girl. He would rather have Savina face these feelings out here rather than back home where the recovering Cambria might see her. When they got back home Savina could try to put a smile on and spend some time with her little girl. In the end, that was really all they could do. Ehno forced a warm smile to his features at her heartfelt thanks. He gave her a quick nuzzle, amber gaze meeting her tear-sparkling emeralds. "Sono sempre qui se lei ha bisogno di me." And as long as he could help it, he would always remain within her reach. After their year of separation, he couldn’t imagine taking off on her again.

Savina quietly confirmed his initial suspicion that it was that hybrid punk who had injured her. A flare of that old anger flickered at the edges of his thoughts, but he ignored it. "Buono di sapere," was his only response. He briefly wondered just how badly Savina had hurt the obnoxious loner, but it didn’t really matter. Whether he had limped away with moderate or serious wounds, he would think twice about coming to bother them again. He wanted to know if that young hybrid had made the first move or if Savina had lost control and went after him, but he kept quiet. Bringing up details of the recent fight didn’t seem like a good idea. Either way, the little worm got what he deserved. The man decided not to dwell on the subject any longer, slowly standing up after a moment. He offered a hand to his sister, a half-smile on his muzzle.

Nuuupe XD

She was so caught up in her own problems and feelings of inadequacy that she hadn't even stopped to think of it in the light that her brother suggested. He was right, Cambria seeing her so distraught would do more harm than help. Especially considering the reason she was so upset was because of her father and substance that had put her in the state she was in. Despite the mistake it had been on Kansas' behalf, she would never tell their children of his slip up. He was a good father and she wouldn't tarnish their image of him. "Lei hanno ragione...è meglio che non mi vede questa maniera." Her breathing continued to stabilize and despite still feeling incredibly weak and weary, she was feeling better. Savina leaned into that nuzzle, savoring the comfort and reassurance it gave her. "Avrò sempre bisogno di lei Ehno." He made her who she was and he was as much a part of her as her nose or eyes. She never wanted him anywhere but by her side.

After she had said that about the scrawny hybrid, Savina wondered if he would ask her about it. How it all had happened. For the moment she hoped that he wouldn't. It wasn't that she wanted to keep it from him, but she was just so tired and so emotionally exhausted that she didn't have the energy to talk about it now. But his response was simple and there were no question. A small sigh of relief was exhaled and then Ehno got to his feet. Looking up into those amber eyes she loved so much she took his hand, managing a small smile of her own. "Andiamo alla casa."
