golden suns that never set

Why the golden woman had decided to venture away from the packlands she couldn't say but her travels had brought her into the lands of eternal sunshine.. atleast until fall came and it became the lands of withered flowers. She walked among the stalks with the bright suns waving back and forth above. Firefly paused a second to glance up at the brilliant flowers with the black faces before leaping through their rows and trying to make a break for the borders. She knew it was almost useless since the flowers seemed to go on for acres. Instead of growing frustrated she just began to dart in and out of the rows, ignoring the rabbits and fowl that she scared up in her strange and unusual antics. Her tongue lolled out of her maw as she smiled to herself, though she was alone in many ways she felt whole for once, knowing where she belonged.

Finally the pace had begun to get to her after a long while at the chase. Slowing down the Sadira could hear her heart pounding inside her chest as she caught her breath. The scent of the rabbits was still lingering and she knew that if she really wanted to she could find a bit of a meal in the meadow that was home to the flowers that had seemingly stolen the sun's rays. Instead of coursing after one of the small mammals she turned away and actually sought out the edge of the field.

Sitting along the rim of the heighty flowers she scanned the lands around her, wondering idly in the back of her mind just which of the members of Inferni had Haven gotten himself in a mess with. She knew she wouldn't seek out the clan anytime soon but it had been a long time since she'd even tried to confront her past, though she'd put the events behind her for the most part she knew that the clan still lingers, probably looking to cause more trouble for their small pack. She bared her fangs at the idea and shook her head before snapping down one of the talk stalks and going over to examine the flower closer.

I'm sorry for the wait, Shannon. 300+

He was slowly starting to investigate more of the neutral territories. Getting to know the lands and discovering the different pack locations as he went on. Sadly it seemed the world was dying. Yet there were still lovely colours all around. He thought it suited his fur nicely. It was nice spending time alone doing this. Gave him room to think about many things. He wondered where Catalyst was in the world. He wondered if he would ever be enough for Alexey. He was grown up now, wasn’t he? It felt like it. He was not sure if he had ever fully felt like a child, but it was odd to know that those days had passed and he was stepping into the adult world. Would Alexey ever see him as anything but a child that she brought up? She had made his life worth living. He was certain that it was only because of her that he had managed to become that person that he was the day today. His parents had left him, but she had remained. He loved her for that. He knew he was too young to be able to know love, but despite this he was fairly certain of what he felt.

Then suddenly he caught a scent that drifted along with the gentle breeze. His fur bristled and discomfort caught hold of his heart. Despite this he started to trace that scent. A scent that should have been associated with warmth, love, comfort.. so many associations that were not there. She was sitting along some remaining flowers, some that had not yet decided that it was time to die and let the cold season take over. He hesitated, looking down on his own fur to gaze at the warm hue of cinnamon that they both shared. Was it too late to slip away and run? Emotions were battling inside him. She had hurt him when she had left. She had never come back to see him. She had never cared, none of his parents had. Slowly, the young male started to step backwards, slowly because he was afraid she would spot him if he moved too much at once.

Firefly hadn't shared with any of her packmates the raw emotions that she carried. None of them knew the regret and sorrow that flowed through the woman because of the fate that had befallen her. She knew that she had made some of the choices that had placed her where she was today but she was not the only one to blame. She often found herself wondering about her boys but there was so much that kept her away from them and as much as she hated to admit it staying out of their lives hurt far less than trying to break the barrier that Dahlia de Mai had placed between them.

The Sadira woman had been contemplating the brilliant flowers before her when suddenly the wind shifted, bringing to her nose a scent so sweet and familiar it almost made her cringe. Butterflies were dancing in her belly as she turned towards the owner of the scent. Her eyes were misty as she caught sight of her boy. He'd grown into a fine young man while she'd been missing from his life.

She realized that he was trying to creep away as the wind had blown his cover. She swallowed hard as her voice broke. "Conor.." she whispered, her voice filled with hurt and pain at knowing that he would rather not see her than spend a few moments in her company. Her entire body sagged, her spirit broken as she came to believe that the pack had succeeded in turning her children against her.

Green eyes turned to him despite it all and the boy felt by the wind’s direction now that he had very much to learn when it came to becoming invisible. He wished she had not seen him. Now everything turned even more complicated, and Conor did not want to deal with complicated right now. He did not hate the woman that had given birth to him. He wondered if he wished to. He wished that he could hate his father. But Conor wished for a lot of this and when he got older he would learn that it was his age that often pushed forth feelings that would make him want to do drastic things. He did suffer now when eye contact had been established now. Her lips moved but the whisper did not reach the golden boy’s fluffy ears. His face lowered down towards the ground and hung miserably as he stared at his mother, whose colours he had inherited. ”Mom?” the boy whispered back, wondering how she could truly recognize him. He was no small child anymore like he had been the last time she had seen him.

Firefly felt the lump in her throat grow bigger as her airways seemed to restrict. She had never attempted to return to Dahlia de mai with very good reason. Her live would be forfeited if she was caught and though she wasn't allowed near her children she didn't want them to be motherless, though she thought that if perhaps it did end that way perhaps it would be best if Haku was the one to end her life, giving the boys reason to hate him too. She pushed the thoughts from her mind as she sighed, realizing that Conor probably had no knowledge of why she'd never returned and the fact that she wasn't ever allowed to.

When his soft whisper reached her ears she tried to swallow but never succeeded, her jaw quivering as she tried to close her eyes to keep the emotions at bay. She smiled softly after the overwhelming feelings passed as she advanced. "Of course it's me. Do you think I could ever forget you Conor." She had slept many restless nights thinking of her two lost sons and wondering what kind of men they would grow up to be. There they were obviously grown now and still she knew nothing of them. It was her fault she knew but she'd never thought that her formal pack would be so cruel to take her children from her... but she'd underestimated the frosty queen.

Feelings were battling noisily. He was troubled. An unexpected spark of anger slashed through him when she advanced and said those words. Of course he had thought she had forgotten all about him. She had just left him, she had left him, left him. What if Alexey had never found him in the city? He had almost died because his mother had staged a stupid fake kidnapping. And for what? Why? Why had she jeopardized his life like that? Conor was not often angry, but he felt it now. ”Yeah, actually I thought you had.” A part of him felt repulsed at the words he was speaking to the woman that had given him life, but it was a one way track hard to get off of. It was no wonder they had taken him and Emwe away from her. She had failed utterly as a mother. The angry thoughts upset the boy and his gaze fled from her and to the grounds. He did not want to be bitter and angry, but she had never bothered to get to know him.
