She had been watching the ill-tempered nag for many days, wondering just what was the best way to approach the bitch of a mustang. So far she'd come up with nothing. Instead of worrying about her lack of skill at thinking up ways of proving she was the alpha over the tall elegant mare with the flint in her eyes Firefly had climbed over the top of the fence and strolled right out into the middle of the field. The horse in turn just ignored the woman as she stood before her and just glared at her. Firefly wasn't use to being ignored so she made herself known in the only way she knew how. "Okay, look you old nag, I probably won't like you and you don't seem to like anyone but I'm going to ride you oneday, got it?" She snarled.

Suddenly at the change in Firefly's voice the mustang's head jerked up, her nostrils flaring as she snorted and stamped her hooves, rolling her eyes at the wolf as she chomped her teeth and laid her ears flat against her skull. Firefly responded by doing nearly the same, her fanged bared at the horse as she growled a warning at the other female, letting her know she was boss, or so she thought.

Firefly knew that the horses wore halters and saddles sometimes though she doubted that she would ever be able to get the wild horse to agree to a saddle.. she saw something of herself in the mustangs dark eyes and she knew she would never allow someone to lash something to her back. She held the halter in her hand, the shiny metal links that she'd polished til the shone like stars in the night sky clinking softly. She raised a brow at the horse as she took a step towards the beast, while the mare only took one in reverse. Firefly narrowed her eyes at the soul before her and just stood there, staring down the beast to let her know she would never win.

heath fits here... xD

The male was in the stables, as he always seemed to be. The horses needed care, feeding, the stales cleaning and water hauled. Rain had not been plentiful, and the buckets needed to be scrubbed too. The morning had been filled with such tasks and Heath was ready to work with the horses instead of just around them. His own were in the pasture, as they spend their mornings. And today he had a specific training session that was his number one priority. Stark, the pale stallion, was to learn to follow his roan mare when ever they were riding. It was for Ruri. She would ride him, as he was less particular the Lumière, strong and Heath trusted him to carry such a precious cargo.

With the tools he would need the tawny hybrid walked out to the gate, pushed it open and walked into the fields. The herd that they kept were mainly unbroken, and yet they had no horse that Heath was not familiar with. He lived above them in the loft, and saw each daily. It was hard not to notice each personality with the day in day out working. The mare and stallion were never far from each other, and yet Heath had to travel along the fence to find them. Gold eyes spotted the merle mare, and gave a low long whistle in hopes of gathering her. She would only look at him, and then looked away. Following her gaze he found that he was not the only wolf in the pasture.

Heath frowned, another call asking for the roan to follow and then moved to the middle of the field. Walking calmly to the female that stood among the rest of the pack’s horses Heath called out to her. “You want to get trampled?” His question was sarcastic, and yet held a warning. Apples in hand he felt foolish to confront her with fruit as his only weapon, but the male would not take a trespasser or anyone taunting any of the horses. The mare that stood her ground against the unknown fey was not one to be messed with, and she best be careful.

She stood there glaring at the beast as the horse pinned her ears back and did the same. She didn't roll her eyes and show signs of fear and nervousness she just waited to see what the wolf would do. Firefly took a step forward as the horse stamped her hooves and snorted at the silvery gold wolf. She grinned and bared her teeth showing her fangs as she jingled the halter once more and idly threatened the wild mustang. "Don't make me get some rope.. I will have you in the coral sooner than you think.." Firefly really didn't want to wrestle the horse into the small holding but if she had to fetch rope and lasso the creature she would. That just took more time and effort than she wanted to deal with right now. She was about to take another step forward when a voice called out.

Firefly was not use to anyone speaking down to her in any way and the tones that greeted her while she was busy staring down the mare held such sarcastic notes that she could feel the hairs bristle along her spine as she broke the staring contest with the mare, quite annoyed that by no right of her own the horse had won the first contest. The wolf turned to eye the male that had called out. She found she was not wholly impressed with what she found either and the woman sneered at the beast as she scuffed. "These beasts know better than to even attempt to come at me, I brought them here." She narrowed her eyes at the boy as she asked. "Who are you to question me anyways?" her cocky attitude more than apparent as she waited for the youth's response.

Heath did not want to drag her pelt off the paddock grounds if he didn’t have to. But she was an unfamiliar sight with a semi familiar smell. It was obvious that she belonged here, but here did not mean these pastures and with such a horrid attitude. If the horses had taught the youth anything it was that one needed a clear head and a stable temper to work with them. Gold eyes locked onto her form, and did not approve of her posture, and thus her presence inside the fenced area. And then he words, the domineering way she spoke and the cruel tone. If he had been outside the farm he would have snarled at her, but among the herd it was improper to show teeth that might start a stampede.

She spoke, and Heath laughed at her ideals. Did she not know that she was not dealing with a doe? This was not a beast that had no brain, and even Lumière sensed her poisoned attitude. The mare watched her intently, distrust written in her form. Heath followed her lead, and spoke with authority.
“Heath.” He paused, hoping for her sake that she did not attempt to take another step towards the mare that looked at her with such fear. Fear bred aggression, and that was something Heath and the herd did not need.
“Marshal, and Marquis.” he stated his rank and then took a step closer, edging between she and the mare. Lumière stood behind him.
“Corralling a beast does not give you rights to their life.” She had brought them here? So who was she? The questions would come later but right now he wanted to secure the mind of the mare.

A light toned paw held the apple, and Heath presented it to the horse. He knew them all, and though they were wild they knew the one that fed them. The red apple was a treat, and he hoped to teach the abrasive female that one got more bees with honey then vinegar.

Firefly found amusement in the fact that the male was studying her as though he didn't know her, though she knew that it was indeed true. The male had come after she'd left the pack and quite possibly he belonged there more than she did. She smiled slightly as he laughed at her words, she decided to ignore him for a moment and turned back to the mare as the beast was giving her another glare of dislike. She bared her fangs slightly at the mare, no real ill feeling towards the creature, just liking to keep things in line.

When the male decided to speak again Firefly couldn't help but smile as she raised a brow, ignoring his comanding act of authority as she chuckled. "So you're Ruri's boy.." From the way that Ruri had spoke of the male Firefly had realized that perhaps he wasn't just a friend, or maybe one day wouldn't be. She hadn't said anything to Ruri for there was no reason to but that didn't stop her from being a little haughty with the male that felt that he needed to push rank in the pack. "So they gave you rule of the barn..." Her tail flicked back and forth in amusement as she chuckled. "Prince of stalls and straw.." She smirked at the young boy as she walked a distance away from the mare and the male.

The mare and Firefly might not like eachother but when Firefly was in the field the beast often came to join her and Firefly would not need to seek the mare out. Firefly had a feeling that the horse knew what she was there for and she got just as much enjoyment out of the whole ordeal as Firefly did. The two stubborn women were made for eachother, even if their dislike of one another ran deeper for the moment. When Heath spoke his mind on her words Firefly couldn't help but roll her eyes as she stated. "Who said anything about wanting their lives, I was just schooling an ignorant schoolboy, and it seems that your title wouldn't even exist if I hadn't corralled your charges."

She let the silver halter jingle between her fingers as she watched Heath attempting to feed the horse. She smiled slightly, knowing the female quite well, wondering if he did too. The mare moved closer to investigate the sweet treat, her lips hoovering over the apple as the whiskers delicately felt the shape of the object in his paw. Suddenly without warning the mare lashed out at the male, her ears pinned back as she attempted to take a chunk out of his arm instead of the apple. Firefly did nothing but laugh, having learned long ago that the mare realized that there were always strings attached to what laid in the palm of the packmates.

His eyes looked from the mare to the woman as she spoke of Ruri. She talked about him? In a way Heath couldn’t believe it, but Heath spoke of her often and thought of her even more. Was it so far fetched that she though of him too? The darker, louder side said yes. But, he was glad to take the place as her boy, though silently. He would not speak of her with this beast. Ruri was purity, and trash reeked from this wolfess. Her tone was enough to tell him that she was no good. His face did not change when she mocked his title, for what she said was true. He was the keeper of stall, hay, and all those things that were worst then that. But all those things came after the training, caring, grooming. She down played his role, but then who would be there to feed her bitch of a mare? Would she care for all the beasts that she (and seemingly she alone) had brought to these stalls and stables?

“Yes. Very gracious of you.” He said with a small smile. Looking back to the mare that he hoped to share his apple with. “Shackle them, and then leave... Don’t worry, I have fed them well.” Gold eyes would not return to her, as arrogant as she was he would feed her ego with the eye contact. It wasn’t until the mare attempted to bite him that he moved away. Strands of his ragged fur hung from her teeth and Heath laughed slightly. “Your meant for each other.” He commented, barely glancing at her. He spoke more to himself that to the woman, the black mare was a wild thing and it seemed that the wolfess would tame her one way or another. Perhaps if she asked Heath would help, though nothing in her past words spoke of such humility. Instead the male would need to drag her trampled form from the pastures after all, and at this point he didn’t mind.

Firefly couldn't help but smile when the mention of Ruri turned the male's head so fast. So it seemed that the boy had some sort of interest in the small blind girl. Firefly wasn't sure she thought much of the male before her but she had a feeling that Ruri was sure to draw a few more stares from him with the new change of clothing that the young dappled girl had recently collected. Firefly still glowed at the thought of how happy Ruri had been just doing something as simple and silly as trying on new clothes. She wished that Ruri had been able to see how the things looked on her but Firefly was sure that there would be someone who was bound to notice.

She pulled away from the thoughts of Ruri as she eyed the boy again, wondering why he seemed so protective over the moody mare. Firefly might have snarled at the beast but the horse was much more likely to do damage to her, she definitely wasn't going to let anyone close to her anytime soon. Firefly sighed and gave up on why the male was so strange and just flicked her ears when he spoke up. She wasn't certain if he was being an ass or not but it didn't matter. She was bored with the male now and it didn't seem like he was going to let her continue playing with the mare right now.

She was tempted to leave when suddenly the mare took a snap at the wolf before her. A smug smile spread across her maw, the chuckling that emerged made her eyes dance merrily as the stable boy began to grumble and moan about the horse before them. Firefly's tail wagged with glee as she turned her eyes to the horse. "You heard him Djinn, we're made for one another." She said sarcastically as the horse just eyed her too and stamped a hoove before turning away from the wolves, tired of their bickering and scents. Firefly didn't bother to go after the mare, instead she just watched as the beast ignored them and ambled over to a young yearling that looked to be her own. She studied the two for a moment a sudden pange of regret shining in her eyes as she was reminded of her own lost young.

Firefly shook her head, trying to rid the emotions before looking back to the male. She still had him to pick on anyways. "Soo.. Heath is it? Where you from anyways?" How ironic was it that in a way she was related to the boy before her, or atleast her children were. She waited impatiently for his answer, hoping he would hand her something more to annoy and pester him with. She did love getting other others skin.

He couldn't help it, but the red accented female reminded him of his sister. She was arrogant, and in a way that was mysterious to Heath, knew how to push his buttons. It was instinctual for females like this, knowing just what would set him off without even really thinking about it. The stranger didn’t seem to even try, as Heath planned out his words that might retaliate her snide remarks. The mare was finished with their company, and walked away to return to her life among the captured herd. At times he wished that none of the horses had been brought against their free will, for the two who claimed Heath had come on their own. He knew that Haven’s stallion had been whiling to join them. The others, Heath was not sure. He groomed, trained, and worked all of them that allowed it, and he was unable to change their situation. All he could do was nod once as she spoke, confirming that he believed the idea. There were certainly a pair.

At her question Heath suddenly remembered that speaking to the nameless female was not the only thing he had to do this day. He began to turn, answering her question as he walked. “Yeah.” His name was as he had spoken it. But as for where he was from, “Not from around here.” He told her, never really wanting to get into the past of his siblings, and his father whom he wished to forget and ignore till his death. If he was to look back and call any place home, this was the only one he would remember. The wolves he knew, the stables, and Ruri was what he would call upon when asked about his life. “Whats your name?” he asked as gold eyes looked back to the green eyes woman.

ooc: sorry I missed this thread last time..
IC:
Firefly really didn't care what the male thought of her or the horse, she wasn't even certain if she wanted to see the male again, he wasn't part of the original pack and she hadn't given him a chance to know her yet. She hadn't really thought about the fact that newcomers would show up after the pack had set their grounds and even though he had Ruri's vote it wouldn't be that easy to get Firefly's. She watched as Djinn wandered off away from the two of them barely catching the male's nod at the words she'd spoken to the horse. Maybe her life was just a little too lonely since she'd left Dahlia de Mai.

She pushed away those emotions with annoyance as she flicked her ears back and turned back to eye the male, noticing that he was walking away. Muttering under her breath she moved to catch up with him as he answered her last question. "You sure, you look familiar.." She couldn't place why she could remember his face but something about him struck her as someone she had met before.. or a shadow of another. She shook her head and turned to gaze back at the horses that were frolicing about as she sighed.

Approaching the stables the male's voice rang out again and she flicked her ears forward to catch his words. She smirked, he had finally realized she hadn't givem him her name, something she tended to do quite often. She figured she might as well give it up though since someone else would probably tell him sooner or later. "Firefly. Firefly Sadira, not that it matters anyway." She really never claimed much of her surname and from time to time wandered if she should just banish it completely or take up the name of her adopted clan. She had always held more respect for them than the family that she'd belonged to anyways.

The gate was heavy in his hand, but he held it open for the female. There was no personal reason to make her acquaintance, other then that they were pack mates. It was enough for Heath for a polite ‘hello’, but not the main reason for not dismissing himself. He wanted to know those that would be hanging around the stables, and those that would be risking their necks to catch untrained horses. And anyone that would be near Lumière or Stark, of course. The roam mare had noticed his departure from the pasture, and moved with a concerned gait towards him. A stern look slowed her pace, though the females words distracted him from stopping the mare completely. “We haven’t met.” Heath confirmed with tone and eyes. She was wild in her nature and look, he would not forget a woman such as she. Especially before meeting Ruri.

The mare walked behind the wolfess, with a distance that others might find uneasy. But Heath did not allow her out of the gate, closing it right after the wolfess passed through. As they neared the stables, she spoke once more. His ears turned to take in the sound. Her name fit, and Heath snorted a cynical laugh at her words. “morte dre Soul” he spoke his last name, giving her a look. His last name didn’t matter either. Surprised that they had something in common Heath spoke again, “doesn’t matter much either” Shoulders gave a little shrug at the comment. He picked up the bucket meant for hauling water, a rope hat had become astray and a halter. Gold eyes moved back to the females face as he asked, “So you were one of the originals?” The ones that found Ruri and made the pack possible? He wouldn’t give her that much credit of course.

Firefly had little care for the horses now that she was leaving. There were other things to do and other places to be and the time spent with the horses in the pen was over. She would return later but now her mind was already a mile ahead of where she was and pondering other things as the world around her turned. The male before her seemed to have himself in more than once process as well as she watched the horse out of the corner of her eye. She turned her head to watch the beast assuming that it was probably one of the ones that had been claimed by Heath but she didn't asked. Djinn and her son were enough to occupy Firefly's time and she wasn't so much for barging in on another's turf without good reasons.

She flicked her eyes back to the male when he decided to tell her that they'd never met. Firefly frowned for a second but just dismissed it, she wasn't certain why she thought she'd known him but it didn't matter unless she found reason to make it matter. She tried to ignore his laughter at her comment but she found it hard to do and when he'd finally graced her with his last name as she stopped in her tracks. Her emerald orbs glared at the boy as she asked the question without even thinking it. "Are you another one of Haku's bastard children.." her words cruel and fierce. Before he could even have a chance to answer she shook her head and pushed past him, not even bothering to answer his last question as she huffed. "I hope you're nothing like him if you are.." She didn't want to hate the boy but if he was another of her exmate's children she wasn't going to take to him quickly at all. She'd been made the laughing stock once by the bastard she wasn't going to deal with it again so soon.

omg! sorry for the wait ><;;

The tawny male moved towards the wooden buildings, trying to keep his mind in two very different places. Yes, he had a growing need to speak with the female but he always had a list a mile long to get done in the barn. Her question made him look at her face, confusion written in his features. Heath also slowed, unsure what she was really talking about and more so who this Haku male was and how they might be related. The idea that they were more family members around ‘Souls was something that hadn’t thought of before, focusing mainly on his siblings and father. “No.” he answered bluntly. Not liking the idea of this Haku, as well as his actual sire.

“I am the bastard of Maluki Soul.” He said with spite on his tongue. “He goes by Jeff-soemthing now” Heath fought to find the name but the only thing he had ever know his father to be was Maluki, and a monster.
